You may have noticed that I spelled “square off” incorrectly. The Exceptional American is a terrible speller, and I was still in character during the editing process.
Sometimes it's hip to be square Adam
It’s kool I new it was kayfabe. Wee fergive yu
@@jermss_preesh
he'll ya borther!
Well, you said you were a drummer. Right?
The Ludwig here. They’re all great drums of course, but I think the Ludwig has the most complex sound, yet consistent across tunings and microphones.
Agree.... with the DW second... the DW almost has too much of the goods the Ludwig has.
The Tama SLP sounded the best to me, but honorable mention to Ludwig for sounding great and being the best-looking!
I know this is late but I just watched this video now.
Lower tuning:
1. DW Performance
2. Tama SLP
3. Ludwig
4. Yamaha
Higher tuning:
1. Ludwig
2. Tama
3. DW
4. Yamaha
Overall winner for me is Ludwig. I’m a Noble and Cooley guy normally if I had to choose one brand.
Ludwig. It's going to be hard to unseat a Ludwig snare drum in sound & popularity.
Loved the TAMA SLP! Definitely my vote considering I’m a Ludwig snob
eww!
The Yamaha is the winner for me, but the Ludwig is so close!
That Yamaha never ceases to amaze. That one’s the real workhorse snare
They all sound great but for my ear and money I give the edge to Yamaha
Yamaha RC by a nose over the Ludwig, then DW and SLP. I's so tough and all sound great, but the SLP speaks less than the other 3.
I know Ludwig is a safe popular choice, but my heart has to go to the Tama SLP Black Brass. I have an older Tama Metalworks 6.5x14 Special Edition with the black die cast hoops and black hardware and it's a sexy beast for short money.
I'm a DW guy through and through........ the Ludwig is actually insane..... Ludwig for this round for sure
Yamaha!
The Yamaha for sure, works in every tuning😮💨😮💨😮💨
My choice too. Ludwig too "boxey" at low tuning. DW too "thin" at high tuning.
The Yamaha by a lug nut over the Ludwig. I have the Black Beauty and a Yamaha Steve Gadd Signature. Both are great sounding drums but imo the snares on the Yamaha sound like the old school Supraphonics. .
I’m sorta favoring the Tama black SLP. Slappy darkness. The Ludwig is gorgeous!
You beautiful dingdongs exemplify what life is all about: having passions and being silly.
I love it so much.
I've gotta go with the Tama here - it's got a great bark, a pure sound from the snare wires, and almost even more importantly, it sounds like it'd be easier to record/mix.
Suggest to hide which snare is which, people could judge by the sound as first criteria and not get influenced by the brand name...also will be more interesting to participate (:
This is a great idea, and may do it in later rounds...
My favorite was the Yamaha followed closely by the Ludwig
Tama SLP is giving Bell Brass realness!
Tama SLP is the winner for me, with a close second to Ludwig.
Tama has my vote Ludwig 2nd
Tama. It seems to do a little bit of everything.
I watched this video a bunch of times - the DW stood out at first as perfect for heavy genres. The overtones are great, and can be muffled if need be. But the other drums have a better rim shot.
The Ludwig has the fattest backbeat and was my second pick. It sounds very smooth. It would be an amazing workhorse at any tuning, but I really don't tune low, and I liked the Tama's high tuning more.
As an audio engineer, I love the RC. As a drummer, it's not my first choice.
The Tama bridges all of the gaps. It has "boing" and it has a fat backbeat. It would probably record well too.
My vote goes to Tama SLP.
My winner is the Ludwig, but that S.L.P and the DW were surprisingly good too. The Yamaha was really nice as well. Honestly they’re all great snares but the Ludwig took the win imo
Yamaha
Ludwig is definitely the best looking, but I'd have to give it to the recording custom! The Tama is a close second.
Tama SLP
Just great drums.
Close Second for me the Ludwig Supra, but all sounded great.
By the way that Sonor Bass goes Boom sounding huge💪🏾
1. DW 2. Ludwig 3. Yamaha 4. Tama
1. Yamaha
2. DW
3. TAMA
4. Ludwig
I vote for the Tama, though by scrolling, I know I'm not in the majority...all good though
Soundwise, either the Ludwig or Tama with maybe a slight edge to the Ludwig. Looks wide, Ludwig.
That Yamaha sounds really nice, but for me the Ludwig Striped Brass is the best. Just seems to stand out more with it's sound, both in low and high tunings
Close between the Ludwig and Yamaha... But RC for me
Yamaha for me. The Ludwig looks great.
Ludwig all day long but the Tama is a close second to me
The Yamaha stood out to me with the smoothest sustain.
Tama SLP Black Brass sounds the best to my ears.
The Tama SLP sounds the best to my ears.
Yamaha has my vote. Very tough call though, they were all good
I gotta go with the Yamaha. They're all hecken nice but the Yamaha has a nice complex crack with some depth that is appealing to my ear.
Tama are the best.🤟
Ludwig 100%. It has a lot more body than the others, especially in the higher tuning
I was surprised to find the Yamaha as my favorite, followed by the Ludwig, then DW, then Tama. There’s a bright presence to the yammie that I really liked, plus I like a bit more snare activity, it seems a very responsive drum.
It's the Ludwig for me. It has an x-factor to its timbre that sets it apart ever so slightly.
Tama SLP does it for me! I think it comes stock with 42 strand wires, but that’s beside the point. This drumble is going to difficult, all of the snares sound great!!!
I like the Yamaha the best. A little more open, probably because of the triple flange hoops against the die cast on the Ludwig.
My vote: the Ludwig Striped Brass. There's just something about it -- it's got that signature brass sound!
Tama for the win! Love the richness!
Yamaha Brass RC - but I must say that new Ludwig Stripped Bass (oh, Brass) looks fabulous.
The Tama is my favorite. The other 3 sound too similar to me.
The TAMA SLP Black Brass.
All are great but if I need to choose, for me personaly:
1) Yamaha for it's perfect timbre and versality, good in both low and high tunings- some ring that you can muffle if you'd like but not too much, nice texture and depth, rich sound
2) Ludwig - great at low tuning, lacking some character and depth in higher tuning
3) DW - Nice sound, but little "canny" - not too much texture in the sound
4) Tama - Nice, but too muffled to my ear, for some very speciffic needs
I’d go with the Yamaha RC. It had the sound I’d prefer. It was close for all four.
I would not have guessed that I think the Yamaha sounds the best. All great though.
DW really surprised me 😯 up to the classics!!
Yamaha Recording awesoma as always
TAMA SLP Black Brass 👌🏼🖤
I'm a Ludwig snare guy myself, but The Yamaha was my favorite today.
TAMA Black Brass for me. They are all nice, hard to choose.
For me, it's 1. Yamaha RC, 2. Ludwig, 3. Tama & 4. DW. I recently bought 14x5,5 Yamaha Brass Recording Custom and it has controlled overtones like in this 14x6,5.
DW wins it for me,, 👍🌟😎🌟👍
The DW Polished Brass has my vote for the win! It’s more warm, sharp, and dynamic then the all the other snare drums.
I love the DW. But honestly they're All excellent snares!
I vote for the Tama SLP! I love how that sounds!
Yamaha, all of them were great but the look and tone of the Ludwig just spoke to me.
I like the Tama. It seems to have the most even frequency spread.
🤔 Man, very hard to choose, they all sound killer. My vote goes for the Yamaha one, sounds thick, powerful and bright.
1 Ludwig
2 Tama
3 Yamaha
4 DW
Until you get to the Canopus Brass bell Magnum. Then all bets are off.
They all sound great, really, BUT the Ludwig had something special. The ring was most pleasant, and the attack sounded both squishy and sensitive and aggressive and “snarey” all at the same time! I want to hit it!👍🏻
Ludwig striped brass has my vote. My 2nd choice would be the Tama SLP.
Tama SLP Series Black Brass Snare Drum 14x6.5
I love the Tama black brass
The Yamaha has my vote in the first round over the Tama by slimmest of margins
Yamaha looks like the best sound for the buck.
Tama SLP for me. Loved it when you dig in on the rim shot.
The Tama one for sure!
Tama SLP définitivement 😊
Lower tuning: ludwig, higher tuning: slp
How am I supposed to count this vote
:)) ludwig
The Ludwig has the most identifiable sound. It just has that certain something that I love.
JE NE SAIS QUOI Per Webster "is something such as an appealing quality that cannot be adequately described or expressed. Yep, that's the Ludwig Sound.
That Yamaha Recording Custom Brass! Its gonna cut through any mix and has the most character
Yamaha for sure! What a beauty drum. Ali from bleed from within plays this drum with diecast hoops and man it’s an absolute missile to the ears!
Tama SLP Black Brass
The Ludwig raw stripes !!! Btw Jim Duggan rules !!!!!
Yamaha Recording Custom is my pick guys.
I'm 60yrs played a lot of snares and own 32.
Great concept. Rock On.
The Yamaha Recording Custom for me
1) Yamaha, 2) Ludwig, 3) Tama, 4) DW. Context: I own Ludwig and Tama snares, but the Yamaha sounded best to me.
Yamaha Recording Custom Brass
The clear winner is Adam’s romper 😂 ….. the Ludwig snare coming in a distant second place!!!!
Ludwig supraphonic wins. Tama sounds great too. Least preferred was DW
Great snare drums, but I'm liking the DW, then Ludwig, Yamaha, and Tama.
Yamaha Recording Custom for the win in this group!
Thought id like the luddy but that yamaha is perfect
Yamaha is the winner for me. They all sounds good but the flange hoops on the Yamaha sounds amazing 🤩.
Tama guy here but the aftertone on the DW wins it for me. Thanks DCP!
I too thought the DW had the best "tone". But at the higher tuning I thought it was a bit "thin" sounding. So I defalted to the Yamaha. But it was close!
Ludwig. No doubt. Although the SLP was nice.
I love Tama, but the low tuning of the Ludwig!
I like the DW. Nice focused sound. Good for studio work.
Yamaha Recording Custom!!
striped supra sounds absolutely incredible.
