Ludwig Drums showing once again that they're a timeless brand who will always have something awesome available in their lineup, and this Classic Oak kit sounds absolutely wonderful. Thank you for showing us the Ludwig Outfitter as well, I wish other companies had something like that available to streamline the custom order process.
Very nice 👍 😊 Never really understood why 12, 13, 16 fell out of fashion… I love it. Ample interval between the 12 & 13 and it Rocks better than 10, 12 IMO. Love the projection added by the oak - probably a killer live kit.
10 and 12 are more versatile, and I personally like the option of mounting the 10" more to the left, allowing a ride placement like a 4 pc setup, but with a 3rd tom.
I love the attention to detail you guys put into your videos. When the camera angle changes, you switch the panning so it makes sense. Also, this snare slaps!!
Shane, man you hit the nail on the head with this kit! I'm old-school (of course!), and have been using 12/13/16 again, when I do a 5-banger, for quite awhile now! It's a forgotten 5-piece setup, but with modern drum shells, the 12/13 combo can be tuned nicely for enough spread. Again, I did review the Keystone series for MD when they first came out, and they did NOT disappoint. This great review reminds me how much I loved them. This COULD be THE kit for me. :)
Pound town!!! I love the concept,45 ‘ Bering edges.Add the hard reflection of the Oak and tune LOWwwww.What a great studio tone for pure ROCK!!!! Serve Hot!!!! What a great recipe.
Fantastic sounding drums, I’m considering ordering a set of these and going the custom route at some point in the near future. Love my Ludwig’s!! 🥁💥 Best drums 🤘🏻
I've never owned a Ludwig kit (although I'd give my right testicle for a Bonham configuration Amber Vistalite) but I do have several Ludwig snares: they're second to absolutely none.
@@emlix1 That’s badass, I love my Supraphonic! I’m planning on building up my arsenal some more myself, I need a Black Beauty for sure. One of my favourites is their Copperphonic 🥁
@@steverizundrums I've got a BB and a Black Magic (which I actually prefer), and a Supraphonic. I've got a couple of Sonors and a Tama which is my only wood shell one, and probably my least favourite. But I'm into snares like a junkie is into heroin. Lol.
Thank you DCP for hooking me up with my double bass classic maple, black cortex, blue and olive badge. Sizes 2x16x22 - 7x8 - 8x8 - 9x10 - 10x12 - 14x15- 16x16 - and 16x18
spot on combo i love love this and if only you guys would pack up and relocate to the uk lol, how much for the lot in this vid, its just perfect a drummer need only this and a bop kit for jazz anything else is a distraction gimme gimme gimme yah yah yah
You can totally hear the Rodger Taylor-esque / Appice-Rod Stewart old school rock tone in these drums with the straight-up mic / no filler sound. Very Cool. And I bet these drums could level buildings if given the Tom Werman or Bob Rock treatment. I honestly cannot think of another legacy drum company that has benefited more from the 1990's custom build / tight tolerance / attention to detail-explosion than Ludwig. Once they started upping their game to compete with market expectation, their pro-level kits went to a whole new universe. Shane and I are roughly the same age and I bet he can remember when the outlook on Ludwig among young drummers in the mid to late 80's went something like "Great snares, but do not want kit". Hell, even Ludwig themselves ran the same ad on the back of Modern Drummer every month of a hammered brass or bronze snare drum with ad copy that specifically stated that their snare drums were used by everyone, "even if they don't play a Ludwig kit". I guess we can give them props for at least being aware of their situation at the time... 😆
Always been a Pearl man, but I'm going to buy a new one, and this Ludwig set sounds great. I have always wondered why Ludwig kind of "fell of". And not beeing used by most hard/heavy rock drumers.
In the comparison video The Keystone X had more of it's own "voice" than any of the other kits. Really love the sound of these oak drums! Is the Heirloom Brass Snare seamless?
Close miked, room miked, small room, big room, those always sound like they're being played in a freaking stadium. I just can't believe this kit. First time I'm seriously considering putting this much money in a drum set!
Wow, makes me wanna start a Led Zepp tribute band , just so I could justify that setup but I would have to buy a bigger car too, my 22 by14 barely fits into my passenger seat...
This kit sounds so great! But the choices you guys made on the sizes, hardware, and color make it look like some beginner kit from their "Backbeat" line or something. Which is kind of hilarious. You would not expect this to be a $4000 kit lol
Jack , I was thinking the same thing ! I would have had it a natural finish to see the natural wood grain , separate lugs and a white front bass drum head . Set it up with one 12 " rack tom and two floor toms 14 " and 16 " . Suprized no one mentioned anything about those killer sounding Paiste cymbals ?

Agreed. I had a Tama Swingstar with 12,13,16. Sounded great!
12 13 16 my personal favourite. It's what I started out on
Agree. I hate the sound of a 10.
You're not kidding when you call it pound town. Sounds incredible!
One of the coolest "Rock" sounding kits I've heard in a long time. Pretty badass! Love Ludwig.
I love the attention to detail you guys put into your videos. When the camera angle changes, you switch the panning so it makes sense. Also, this snare slaps!!
Thanks so much! Yeah that snare really does!
My girlfriend asked what I was watching. I said, “I’m getting ready to go to pound town.” She replied, “no, you’re not, my head hurts.” She’s a peach.
Going to pound town is actually a great remedy for headaches. 🤭
She sounds like my girlfriend
Lmao
why is the excuse always, "my head hurts"
I wasn't gonna put it in your ear
These are killer drums no arguing about that!
Jaw dropping sound and tone!
Jeez...thunderous to say the least!
Wow!
Cheers from Brazil!

Even better yet, 12, 13, 16... 24!
Love the B/O badges. Great kit
Killer kit!!! Thanks for all of that Ludwig love
When it sounds THAT good with room mics, you know its gonna sound good under any mic and situation!
Totally agree!
Dude your drumming is great heavy-handed and quick as sin.. it's a pleasure to watch you work
Now that's a good sounding set of drums. And a 14 inch wide bass drum and it sounds great.
Those drums sound amazing! I love the idea of different options for the lugs, mounting arms, etc. Definitely love those long lugs.
That low punch... yessir!!!!! Floor Tom sounds like sweet wicked thunder.
Mister DCP Himself is on fire with this kit :)
This kit has made it into my top five favorites! Great video
My dream kit. Just wait another 10 years for when I get the money to buy this.

A Cool 70s vibe!! Nice.
I love how Shane always rocks his Birkenstocks! Oh, ya this kit is sweet!
Love 💗 the kit ! & the options !
loved the keystone X. these sound awesome.
Another great video, another great set of products. Well done, as always, Extra credit for the Family Guy audio cue in the intro.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@drumcenternh Me, too.
Can't wait till I can afford to get a green sparkle Bonham kit
Big punchy rock sounds. Gotta like it!
Sounds like a beast. I have always loved oak drums and Ludwig. I need to find that Yamaha Musashi Oak snare they had way back with a wood block on it.
Great rock sizes and killer tone! I'm really impressed.
I love that bottom end. That means two things.
Amazing sound

This kit is so under appreciated.
Thank you for another great video Shane
Great sounding kit
Thunderous!
Wow, talk about fat bottom tom tones, very nice!! Love these videos… also, I think Shane could pass as Todd Sucherman’s brother 👍🏼

MY OPINION BEST sound of anY set I have seen on your channel.
Glad you liked it Terry!
God Damn that was a great intro
I love the look of this kit!! Can’t get cooler than the black cortex wrap, the blue/olive badge, and the Mach lugs!
Such a killer look!
In the comparison video The Keystone X had more of it's own "voice" than any of the other kits. Really love the sound of these oak drums! Is the Heirloom Brass Snare seamless?
Totally agree Dan! The Heirloom shell is not seamless, but man it sounds good!
It would be interested to compare this with to other oak shell kits, e.g. Yamaha Live Custom Hybrid Oak etc... (obviously kits with ~ matching sizes).
Love it
Close miked, room miked, small room, big room, those always sound like they're being played in a freaking stadium. I just can't believe this kit. First time I'm seriously considering putting this much money in a drum set!
For me that is the perfect kit
Sounds great. You can play Beatles music on this kit.
You definitely could. A quick head change and you can get there.
Great kit. Great chops. Sandals?🤨
What type of Oak and Maple is Ludwig using here? Sounded amazing!
Those Sandals’s tho!
😴👂😲👏👏👏💘🤘Great Intro Man.
Damn!!
These drums…they destroy!
I have the Classic Maple its ust preferences the Maple is a warmer sound, may be a hard rock drummer would find these to there taste
. And I love this brand new Ludwig classic oak line I could definitely end up getting divorced over this.
. LOL 😄😂🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅 y
Wow, makes me wanna start a Led Zepp tribute band , just so I could justify that setup but I would have to buy a bigger car too, my 22 by14 barely fits into my passenger seat...
I like!!
Sick.
That 70's lows
Those are some chunky shells!
Check the price shane.?? Is that list.???
Mach lugs !
Why do you demo with a non kit snare? I would like to hear an oak kit not a mix
Man Neil Peart would have loved these 🥁🙏😎
Sounds little like his Tama era kits 🥁
Way better then the overpriced overhyped DW stuff
Pound town. That’s where I take my wife.
If I had the money :)
Throw in an 18” floor and I’m in
Eargasm.
These are nice no doubt, but you ruined me selling me SQ1…

Get a life
I'll stick my more affordable and better sounding Tama w/b kit.
I’d rather have 8 ‘ 10 12 ‘ 14 ‘ 16 ‘ 22 by 18 bass drum Ive got that with my set perfect sound .
