Story of a man who betrayed his own kind to save them.
A story about a betraying cunt sounds more accurate.
Kyrex He saved them from becoming warlords. Even though he betrayed his brotherhood and got some of them killed, he did it to save millions of innocent lives that were going to be lost. Betrayal was a tough decision but it prevented a lot of tragedy that would have went down.
@@Jason-cp8vo Nobody is innocent. Sometimes there are needed sacrifices to reach a certain goal.
Kyrex I’m not saying either of them are innocent. What I’m saying is that innocent people who had nothing to do with neither assassins or templars would have died if Shay didn’t do what he did.

It's true this game can relate my life
Haytham and Shay are one of the most reasonable opposing forces in the Assassin's Creed series. You see guys like Borgia or even the cultists in Origins and so on, you see a group of people hungry for power. Both haytham and shay had a vision not only for the betterment of the templars but the world as a whole, almost as similar to the creed themselves.
This is why we need more games centered around the templars because both factions are literally opposite sides of the same coin
Templars belive in Order but giving too much order will create oppression
Assassins belive in Freedom but giving too much freedom will create anarchy
@@bullettime8760 yeah I agree with you I always hoped for an AC game where aruno and shay battle but that might never happen sadly
Yes, the colonial templars were very good ones and i like how ubisoft is not afraid to show that sometimes the assasins are wrong where the templars are doing good like in ac 3 and ac rogue. Any other templars before the colonial templars were just kind of evil
Villains in the most recent games are mostly one dimensional idiots.
@@boggy_drowl436 I think that’s one thing the original AC did quite well, while the Ezio trilogy fell short until Revelations. The original had a good mix of selfish individuals using the templar order for their own petty revenge or power grab, while others had goals that were more noble in their own way. The Borgia were more selfish and power hungry, while the Sultan’s brother in Revelations was more of a traditional Templar. You also get interesting characters in Unity, like the De la Serres and it’s entirely possible Lafreniere may have been willing to continue the truce with the Assassins, if Germain hadn’t tricked Arno into killing him. Although critical of his vision, Lafreniere was loyal to De la Serre and tried to warn him of the threat to his life. He was also planning to strike down Germain and his loyalists when Arno killed him.

For me, it's one of my favourite Ac games. I can understand why people hate it. But i think it's one of the best ac games, and you can understand the templars' side a bit more.

Best Assassin's Creed songs ever made.
Convinced till the end.

Ac 3 main theme not ac 4
Y tiene el de Ac 3 jodidamente hermoso
I love how the theme reflects Rogue's story in 3 parts:
0:00 - 0:31 we hear Ezio's Famiy; which is undoubtedly the series' theme and is synonymous to the Assassins. It reflects Shay's time as an Assassin.
0:32 - 1:32 we hear a theme that evokes a feeling of freedom and clarity, the feelings Shay felt after being released from the shackles of the Assassin dogma.
and in
1:33 is pretty clever, you can hear this from the beginning of AC III's main theme. Foreshadowing the future of the Colonies
@[TYPE F]: Its the base of AC 3 plucked on strings, Ezio's Family, going into Brian Tyler's The British Empire in a colonial style of drums and flutes evoking the timeline and also Shay's Celtic roots.
I didn't realize that before. Kinda reminds me God of War 4 theme.

Shay didn’t leave the assassins. The assassins left him
Sounds Logical bro
Shay made his own luck
Lmao it means the same thing
Actually a assassin never left him. A assassin is the one who creates any part to save the people have his own path, but the one who makes it not alone is the brotherhood. Only the north American and French brotherhood became corrupt, and blinded at one time ( the north American brotherhood made a new uncorrupt start after Achilles trained Conner. Shay himself knows his still a assassin from inside, and probably hates the crimes of templars, and we will never know what happened to Shay after he killed arno father (maybe he left templars ? And started a new life). Assassin never left shay, only he left the north American brotherhood. And in order to make them uncorrupt again and make them realise what's being a assassin standfor, he make big kills. But you can see he left Achilles cuz he cared for the brotherhood, he knows the assassin brotherhood is the important part for making peace and protect people in dark and day.

MOST underrated game, personally my favorite Assassin, amazing story and not forgetting the GREATEST theme song by far
It was released on the same day as Unity unfortunately
What do you mean Shays a templar though he still has remnants of his assassin self
@@somethingsomething7993 he’s more an assassin than Templar, as he only joined them because the assassins were doing wrong and shay couldn’t stop them himself
I am using Dartigan's words here
The fact this game was released a day before unity completely overshadowed by the self righteous mess made be the latter.
The second most would be part 3 in my opinion
As an Assassin fan, I will say that actually Shay saved the Colonial/American Assassins from being erased. That’s because back at that time the leadership of the Assassins were really gone really bad. And after the events of Ac Rogue the great Assassin leader Sir Achilles Davenport realised his mistakes and at that time after learning from that mistakes, he trained Connor, so that Connor does not become a power grabbing greedy Assassin. So, actually, Shay was never ever a Knight Templar, he was an Assassin who joined the Templar cause in order to save the Assassin brotherhood.
That’s why the game is called Assassin Creeds Rogue.

The time when Ubisoft was producing their own ideas with their greatest storylines
So true, game developers came up with great story lines back in the days. That's just because they had a great idea and a vision and wanted to create a game out of it. Now they are like what do boys want, what do girls want, what do babies want, what do transgenders want? alright we try to have something for everyone. result is a bad game because you just can't make something everyone likes.

In even 2023 this is one of the best AC themes followed by Odessey.
AC:rogue showed us that not all templars are bad. And assassins are not all good. (Yin and Yang)
I think that this game (as well as parts of AC3 and AC1) show it as two ends of a spectrum. On one side you have absolute freedom: anarchy. On the other, absolute control: slavery. Most Assassins and Templars lie somewhere in the middle.
Demolition Gaming So there is not the second without the first one.We need the bad to have The good.
Nothing is true
Christian Benayun everything is permitted
Neither can live while the other survives
I love how the song starts with the traditional Ezio theme, but as the music intensifies it gradually develops into its own unique theme. Symbolizing Shay's transformation from the traditional Assassin to Templar via thinking for himself, not following the crowd, and becoming his own man. Music can tell stories too ya know.
This reminds me of God of War 4 theme.
Rogue's theme actually consist not only Ezio's Family theme, but the main leitmotif was actually inspired from the AC4 Black Flag track called "British Empire".
I know that Ezio's Family is iconic to the franchise and all, but i think British Empire should have had more love, especially an another variation of it also plays on AC Valhalla as well, making the track probably the second most used leitmotif in the franchise
This interpretation opened my eyes about a lot of things (thank you), and I’d like to complete it with the fact that after the orchestral part, the theme regains its original tune but with a few things changing. New notes, a higher tone, as to say that his actions have changed the brotherhood to get it better and higher. Do you think I’m right?
The way I see it is it goes from something for the auditore family which the auditore family was always focused around the assassins to something that sounds more like it would he in black flag and dedicated towards the kenway family which haytham is a templar so thats how i see it symbolizes his transformation.
And still, during the new theme you can here some violin phrases from Ezio's Family, that shows that even though Shay has abandoned the Creed, it still has influence on his actions although he's no longer an Assassin.
I like how this theme is a mixture of AC2, AC3, and AC4.
Ezio Family theme from AC2, which became basically the official theme of Assassin's Creed in general.
AC3 Main Theme, since this game is supposed to be a prequel for that game.
AC4 British Empire Theme, since this game basically take lots of the core mechanics of AC4 but changes up on it.
Probably the Funeral Song for the last true and best Assassins Creed hahaah
Also because of Shay helping British Empire here
How we never got another game after Rogue where you play as a Templar is beyond me. The struggle in the games is not one-sided.
Yeah I hope some day we get another Templar game. Both Shay and Haytham showed us not that every Templar is bad and not every Assassin is good. Both sides have good and bad points as well as people, and their war with each other is pointless and stupid.
I said years ago, maybe even this game was announced, I don't know, but Ubisoft should do a seperate ip where you play as the Templars and they're the heroes of that series. Give it a completely different playstyle and everything instead of making it an AC clone. Something like a fleshed out For Honor or the rpg Creed trilogy before they made Origins would have been great. But it would have been about them protecting the security and safety of the people trying to keep them safe from the anarchist Assassins who defy law and order.
And just from marketing itself, Ubisoft would have a goldmine on their hands. Selling Templar and Assassin merchandise. Letting fans playfully pit themselves against one another when they see one in public. Even hold competitions on midnight releases, splitting a few fans who are pro Assassin vs pro Templar and having them do lore trivia sort of stuff. The potential is right there in front of them so of course Ubisoft is going to waste it.
@@gunguntrio1247Thing with Ubisoft is they know concepts like this but will prefer to make a bad game with microtransactions a game with Connor hunting Shay would be cool and one of the best crossovers possibly in gaming and an option to play as both and to select at end whom to let live

This is an amazing game, in my honest opinion. Out of ignorance, I said some pretty harsh things about the game when it was first announced. But I really shouldn't have. This is going into my top 5 favorite AC games of all time, believe it or not. This was the underdog game this year, but Ubisoft has shown us that the Templars aren't truly the "bad" guys; neither are the Assassins, which makes for an amazing, heart wrenching story.
This is quite possibly the best AC storyline since AC2. Shay Patrick Cormac is such an awesome, badass, realistic protagonist. Definitely one of my favorites. I agree with you. But the fun thing is that i did kinda think that non of the asassin's or the templars are really good or evil.
I think im just really easy affected. Whenever i assasinated a templar in ac3 and you had that little "death talk" after, that really made me think. I just think assasin's creed is a game that makes you think, makes you question how it really is, an ability that few games has. Unfortuanately that part is missing from Unity. Even though i havent played rogue yet, i think it will be one of the best AC games so far.

From my perspective, the plot of this game is incredibly flawless, major breakthrough in the way they tell stories, for me, Shay is not literally the traitor, he stands for what is right for human beings irrespective of which side he is on
Shay did technically saved the brotherhood or atleast given Achilles a chance to live where Achilles would've killed shay for betraying the brotherhood. While in the end shay will be remembered as a traitor by the Assassin's and the best Templar to Abstergo, in shay's eyes he did what he felt was right because if it weren't for him, the Assassin's lead by Achilles might cause another shift in the world that would have consequences of their own actions.

Amiralay Osmanlı I SAID ITS FUCKING GREAT
@Intisar Hairder: Yes, pretty much and that's what makes it so awesome!
All the good soundtracks in one only game... IT'S AWESOME!
"My name is Shay Patrick Cormac. This is my story."
I heard the law and order theme when I heard that
A new revolution is about to begin.
A war and a revolution have ended and another is about to begin.
May the Father of Understanding guide us all.
Stay my blade from the flesh of the innocent hide in plain sight never compromise the assassin brotherhood. These are the tenants of the creed the principals I used to live by. I was a young man then the seven years war was about to begin and I had no idea what the future had in store for me nor the cost which I chose to bear. My name is Shay Patrick cormac and this is my story.
@@yoshpeters3079 May the Father of Understanding guide us all.
Ezio's Family + AC III main theme + AC BF Song = this
All the more reason why this should be on next gen consoles
TheDiermac X BF? As in "Brotherhood"?
Black Flag
TheDiermac X It's sort of cool
TheDiermac X Just shows that the series needs Jesper Kyd and Lorne Balfe back. When they left is when the series went downhill.
Adêwalê: HELL welcomes Traitors like you!
Shay:I WOULD go proudly there knowing what I done was right....
Killing Ade was probably 1 of the things that hit me hard, besides that the game shows you that sometimes what you believe in is wrong
Killing adewale was the most heartbreaking missions I played!
@We Wuz Kangz N Sheit no he didn’t. He left Edward because of his arrogance, and his greed. Edward killed many assassins. Killing adewale was heart breaking for me.
If only Adewale had seen the things that shay saw...
Really men, when i saw adewale and i was on mission to kill him. I ll choose unarmed rather than blades it makes me Crying😭
I love AC:Rogue. I love its soundtrack, I love its story, I love its environments, I love its characters. It is just a fantastic addition to the AC franchise, and I stand by my view despite the naysayers and bad feedback. Graphics and performance-wise, Unity will always take the throne, but when it comes to solid gameplay, immersive scenery and a gripping story, Rogue crushes Unity into the dust. Such a good game.
***** I quit playing Assassin's Creed Revelations because I couldn't figure out how to do those dumb strategy, combat missions where you have to organize troops on the roof to defeat the enemy and stop that flaming thing from attacking. It's the first A.C. game that I ever quit and never returned. So I never got to see how it ended.
+New California Ranger Well, if that's what actual strategy games are all about, then no, I wouldn't like them. But I will say, I finally returned to Assassin's Creed Revelations and actually completed it. Though I didn't participate in any of these particular missions anymore (I didn't know that I could skip them before). I also skipped all of the boring Desmond parts because they was too hard and didn't make any sense to me.
ac rogue reminded me of ac brotherhood... and i love brotherhood! i always knew rogue was better than unity
+Reckless Redcoat But we all can agree that the computer hacking parts are hard as fuck
***** The must hacks that were needed in the story were pretty hard but not impossible. But the ones you dont need to do for the story are just hell
This track ain't just a music track, it's an emotion embedded deep within the hearts of us all AC fans across the world. Love this. Gonna make it my ringtone for sometime ig
Video game writers: THIS is how you create a tragic character.
RIP Shay Cormac, a man who understood the purpose of the Assassin's Order better than it's leaders.
What happen to him after he killed arno's father?
@@whitejasminerice2264 Great writing - it's entirely up to your own interpretation. I think he was done with Assassins and Templars and he has descendants so he probably settled.
@bukan saya I think he was settled for himself. He had the artifact that he stole from Charles. Don’t remember if he gave it to the Templars or had it for himself
@@Henchman.24 For some reason I always thought Otso Berg was a descendant of Shay.
My interpretation is that Shay just vanished into the night like a phantom after the events of this game. Mostly because none of the games mention when or where he has died.
Yes, Rogue used an old engine and was designed as the secondary 'last-gen game' behind Unity.
But it was one hundred times better than Unity and turned out to be the best AC game since the Ezio era.
I agree. It surprised me greatly, and I was involved in Shay's character and storyline the whole time. Could easily empathize with him and his objectives, and, most importantly, gave me a different vision of the Templars :) I only wish they had more resources and time to make it more good than it is, too much focus on Unity, which, in the end, didn't reach Rogue's story quality in the slightest...
Rogue had the best things, that AC series could offer on last-gen. I'm surprised, how they managed to make New York so big, and even add a bit of Paris at the SAME scale as Unity. The earthquake scene, the story and all those characters connected to so many AC games... There is just so many things in Rogue.
iTubeYourDadsMinge Rogue introduced so many new mechanics, the fact that a lot of the tactics you had grown so used to as a player were now flipped on your head and you had to watch out for them was so cool and a breath of fresh air. The story deserved way more time, this could have been easily the best story since the Ezio Trilogy if it was given more time. I really think we deserve another game with Shay
i say its got the best story. bit rushed at the end but fantastically set up
I really like how it fills the plotholes between AC3 and AC4, but AC4 will be my favourite game forever. The story of Edward Kenway, Haytem Kenway and Connor Kenway is the best one ubisoft has told us yet.
Probably the most Underrated Assassins Creed game ever
The most underrated was probably Unity.
+Иван Шафоростов No, Unity was what all the hype was about, and as a result this brilliant game was overshadowed.
Unity is a good game, people don't like it only because of bugs and glitches, so I'd say it's underrated
Akiraj Unity is horrible in all ways, in history, characters, soundtrack, villians, combat, gameplay
Diego TM Have you even played it? You didn't tell any proof for any of that. Combat was challenging and reminded of combat in two first games. Soundtrack was really good too.
Setelah memainkannya aku rasa AC Rogue tidak seburuk yang orang-orang katakan. Sebagai fans AC aku tetap menyukainya

Black flag first, 2nd rogue, 3rd Creed 3

@@damboborna7669 Same goes for me, i learned of the saga by Rogue and now I've played Unity, Syndicate and I'm in the middle of Origins but never played the one before Rogue by fear of the gameplay diminish the story behind them, so I just watched the stories behind all those games, books and short films before Rogue so i could appreciate the lore of the game while preserving them for me.

I thought Shay was very cold hearted, a lone wolf who walks the dark path of revenge filled with hatred towards assasins.
Turned out in the game he wasn’t that what they advertised him in the trailer, which is good.
Actually, he is a middle one. He not particularly an Assassin or Templar. He fights for the innocents but didnt want to join the old Assassin's Brotherhood. and you can't blame Achilles and the others because he didnt know what happened.
p/s im a người việt nam
Shay never wanted revenge the only thing that he wanted was to stop assassins ans the world destruction
He makes his own luck.
But at the end he knew that he is on the wrong path but still he didn't leave Templars.
“Born to be an assassin, died as a Templar.”
Great game, I really wished they paid more attention to this game rather than unity
Totally agreed
Faizan Ali
+ZallZo same for me
Personally, I find Black Flag's and Rogue's fighting mechanics easier than Unity's, I also prefer the former's AI's as well!
Fearless Ram I love AC Black Flags fighting style so much! Even though this is true, I do admire Unities. It required more skill and timing to get just right, making you feel more like an Assassin in mastering it. New moves like heavy hit also improved your fighting capability.
The BEST theme out of all assassin's creed games. I still come back here just to get goosebumps
Shay told me Assassins are bad
But templars are also bad
How can someone say this character is bad
Hes the best
Ill buy this game in 2050 just to play it
Samee
Adee Walle is the best.
And shay killed him.
Wish there was a western ac, where we could steal shays thing, now that he is dead.
He betrayed the creed due to their extreme actions that would result in many deaths, yet he joins the templers who will gladly do the same to achieve their goals.
Seriously the piss poor writing just made Shay look like an idiot.

Currently playing through (almost) all the AC games. This one has become a surprising favourite in terms of its story. Still haven’t finished it but it is very enjoyable
Altair : The assassin who started all of them. Was one of the greatest protagonist in the AC series and is the legend.
Ezio : The famous assassin and the most rated one. Has alot of stories plus great timeline.
Connor : The brutal assassin from AC 3. Became an assassin to avenge his mother and people but had to kill his father.
Shay : The assassin that gone rogue for good reasons . He had showed achilles mercy as a sign that citizen's lives matters. And he teached us the best lesson : To not be power hungry just to defeat your enemy.

Edward : The selfish Pirate who joined the Creed to erase his mistakes and become a Master Assassin.
Arno : The Assassin who joined the Brotherhood to redeem the loss of his Father.
Jacob / Evie : One of london's Greatest Assassins who were born into the Creed.
Bayek : The Father and the god of the Assassin's brotherhood.
Alexios / Kassandra : A tainted one who from their blood the Creed has been found . Also the ancestors of Amunet.

I know not everyone will agree....but Rogue is probably the best Assassins Creed since Assassins Creed 2. I didnt played Unity (Cuz my PC cant run it...and i have no Next Gen Console), but right now i feel that Rogue has the best Character since the Ezio Trilogy and the best Story and music since Ac2. The Gameplay is more Black Flag 2.0, but i think thats good because i personally liked Black Flag.
All in all i think Rogue is very underrated and too many people think that its just 1 more unnecessary Money Game from Ubisoft, but trust me it isnt.

They needed to make this game longer, it wasn't able to reach the emotional level it needed with such a short playing time.
Speaking of which, Liam's death could have been significantly more dramatic.
If there were background musics in real life, this would probably be that one music that would play when you are close to reaching the top of the world, the Mount Everest or the highest motorable road that is the Khardungla Pass, or when you are near the North or South Pole. This music has that feeling of accomplishment of something really big, something that really matters to you. Love it a lot ❤️
