22 years ago I watched this in the cinema with my dad, the music, the actors, the story...... just incredible, never gets old!! A real gem for the ages....
And 10/10! it doesn't matter if the events didn't happened historically. we reward this poetry by it's qualities that may give to a crowd who seeks scepticism and different angles of views to one's own life! same as the 'braveheart'(1995) and 'the last samurai'(2003). One of the movies shows us how a free individual is and the other tells us that in the end for a hero it doesn't matter how he dies ''I'll tell you how he lived'' .
I totally get your story, I watched this film with my dad at the cinema too. Something I'll carry until my last breath on this earth! This track is truly awesome to me because it holds the memory of me & my Dad, just the same for you. It's a small world that it is. Dad's are ace! x

Thank you Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard you have made my time on Earth all the more rewarding. I am ready for the next level of existence as my faith is strong and unshakeable.
This song resonates deeply with those who have triumphed over dark times. It reminds us of our fluidity and adaptability as humans, showing how difficulties can truly transform us into stronger and braver versions of ourselves. This soundtrack never gets old.
I love your comment! I am experiencing a very difficult time currently in my life. Maybe the hardest I will ever face. I was thinking of this song a few days ago and decided that when I have conquered this obstacle I will celebrate by listening to this beautiful piece..... now we are free....
Yes this my Sobriety Theme! Im truly free if it just for this moment. I am my own Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Me Myself and I.
My mother passed away last month after 50 happy years on Earth, she was the victim of a bicycle accident 3 years ago and was in a coma up till now. Gladiator was one of her favorite movies and the scene when Maximus walks across the field to join his family never failed to make her cry even after countless rewatches over the years. This song is just too good and it will be played as the final song for her funeral as she takes her final trip across the fields. Everytime I listen to it I get all warm and happy and I can feel her presence somehow. It is a sad song but it is also hopeful, it gives me hope that I will one day see her again when it’s my turn to walk across the fields...but not yet, not yet.
When I was 6 years old I snuck behind the couch to watch this movie way past my bedtime. My parents had basically no idea, but towards the end of the movie I was crying because Maximus died. I can't explain it, but the thrill of being caught, plus watching such a great movie and seeing it for the first time was so special. I'll never have that experience again.
There's just something about this soundtrack that brings genuine tears to my eyes every time I hear it. There's something haunting, powerful and strong yet beautiful in the musical arrangement, and of course Lisa Gerrards voice is completely stunning and sets it apart from any other soundtrack. This pulls at my heart like no other piece of music.

But in future when you're older, and if you ever come to this place on youtube again. just remember that I prayed for your success because we were here once, listening to the same song.
Dear Kusme, This is a powerful ,wonderful piece of music.I visit this regularly since my father passed 10 years ago.It gives me hope, strength and awakens my precious memories of my late Father.May your God Bless you and your family,Take Care in these difficult days.
To this day, even after seeing Gladiator 2, this is the soundtrack we'll always remember: the combination of Gladiator 1 and this soundtrack is perfect, and of course we can't forget Russell Crowe's incredible portrayal of his character, who will be forever etched in our memories, right up to his last breath of life a cinematic masterpiece!
The Ending scene when Maximus walks through the Elysian fields and envisions seeing his family in the distance, with this song in the background.... it resonates in a special way! honestly, my all time favourite film.
Wow..I don’t know how to describe the feeling I get from listening to this song, it feels so heavenly. Headphones in I just stare at the sky in amazement and I get this feeling of excitement, I suddenly forget about everything for a moment and just admire the world with my eyes. It’s truly incredible. Every time I listen and the main chorus comes in I get goosebumps it’s crazy. Hans Zimmer what a masterpiece the best song for anything commercial made. Wow just wow
My dad’s favorite movie of all times was Gladiator. He passed away after a strong fight against lung cancer. He also managed to live for more than 20 years with skin cancer. While in bed, in his very last moment, apparently unconscious, I said whispering to his ear: Here you will leave a man, you have trained a Gladiator, I will see you again dad, but not yet! His eyebrows moved, he tried to give me a smile, he passed away, 10 seconds after.
I cried a lot today, but it feels good to release it. My father passed away last month due to dementia at the age of 70. Until his last breath he fought against this hell of a sickness like a warrior. He no longer could talk due to a stroke, but his eyes were following our voices and movements constantly until the end, when we lied at his deathbed. More than 10 years ago, he showed me and my brother this masterpiece Gladiator and I will never forget those moments with this beautiful music. It always reminds me of him, my hero. I love you dad and we will meet us again, but not yet, not yet. ❤
its a shame that many of the younger generation will only see this movie as "some dumb movie" and not be able to appreciate the cinematography, story, drama, and indeed, soundtrack.
It's funny how this is the only memory with my father 20 years ago. He left me and my mother when I was 7. He married to another woman, has another children. However, even though he doesn't know, I still remember this movie watching it with him and writing this comment with tears in my eyes. It's funny how I never tell anyone in my life about this, I never talk with anyone about my father too, but deep there, I miss this moment. I try to be a gladiator since then. What a wonderful movie.

My Mother passed away on November 25, 2019 after a strong fight with cancer. It's been a little more than six months since she left this world but I still can't get over it. When I hear this song I remember my Mother and it makes me cry...now you are free, Mama! I'll see you again but not yet.🌸
I lost my Dad and Mum. I feel you totally. She is protecting you from above, she will be always with you. You will meet her again but not yet, not yet.
He stands alone, his blade dripping with the final justice delivered. The arena falls silent, the weight of his victory sinking deep within his soul, the crowd watching in hushed reverence. He feels the heaviness of his body, the pain of his wounds, and the finality of his journey. As he stumbles forward, a faint smile graces his lips - his family avenged, his honor restored. He collapses in the sands, his fight is done, his spirit unshackled - now he is free.
Gladiator is more than just a film about battle and revenge. It is a story of resilience, honor, and the enduring human spirit. Maximus, a man broken by loss, rises from the ashes of despair to reclaim not just his freedom, but his soul. His journey is one of profound pain, yet it speaks to a truth we all share-no matter how deep the wounds, the strength to rise is always within us. The battles he fights, both external and internal, reflect the struggle for justice in a world that often seems consumed by corruption and cruelty. There is something timeless and deeply emotional about Maximus's devotion to his family, to his honor, and to the dream of a life beyond the bloodshed. His refusal to be a mere tool of revenge, choosing instead to fight for something greater, serves as a reminder that even in the darkest of times, we can find light in our convictions. His final words, "At my signal, unleash hell," resonate not only as a call to arms but as a testament to the power of purpose and the legacy we leave behind. Maximus’s story touches the heart because it reminds us of the fragility of life, the power of love, and the ability to rise from despair. In a world that is often chaotic and unjust, it shows that there is always room for a hero in all of us.
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son. I lost my only best friend of 40 years. This was his favorite track and mine too. We watched this movie together, we earned money for tickets by doing odd jobs for the neighbors and it was all worth it. I miss him when I'm alone, I pretend to be alright, I pretend to be tough and I pretend to be normal. To Stephen, " I will see you again, but not yet, not yet..."
You will see him again, we are not truly gone we simply change and move on. Continue to honor your friend and he will always be with you but more importantly honor him by living a life he would be proud of you for. Hail the traveler, may he rest in power.
My Grandfather, A Korea and Vietnam Veteran, was laid to rest after battling skin cancer for two long years. Two tours in two different foreign conflicts couldn't kill him, and he was able to live a long and exciting life after his three decades of service to his country. The years my brothers and I spent growing up with him, his house being only an hour away from ours, the many trips he took us on, and the stories and lessons taught to us as we grew up beside him...they will echo throughout eternity. And I will ensure his deeds and lessons live on in my children one day. Seeing him in his weak and "artificially alive" state was heartbreaking for me. Such a strong soul, trapped within an old and decaying body.....But now he is free. RIP Grandpa Bob 1933-2023
May he rest in peace. I also had a grandfather just like yours. He died on January 13th, 2021, victim of a cardiac arrest. The last thing I told him was "you're gonna be fine, I know what this feels like. But after the medications you and I will both go home", but God took him and I went home alone that night. The afternoon of the day when he passed away I invited him for a walk, and he replied "I'm not in the mood right now, but tomorrow I'll go", and I thought to myself that I would join him and we would chat. He was a happy old man, full of stories. We in fact walked together the other day, but he was laying dead in his coffin and I was one of the people who carried it to the tomb. May you rest in peace, my beloved grandpa Luiz Carlos Dias Martins.
Don't wooosh me, this too is a joke But no the universe is gonna kill itself anyway and erase everything we ever did and ever will, nothing we do makes a difference in the long run, everything we do changes nothing in the greater spectrum of thing.

My uncle recently died from a sudden heart attack whilst cycling, he was a very fit man who competed in many triathlons. Everyone who ever met him would tell you he was extremely kind and wise. He was devoted to judo for much of his life, achieved black belt at the age of 16 and traveled to Japan to train further. This amazing song was played at the end of his sensational cremation service, a real tear jerker. His favourite film was Gladiator (my favourite also) as it displays true compassion and commitment with an amazing storyline. He always put 100% into anything he did and would “never walk past.” Rest In Peace Bill Webb ❤️
I thought exercise is suppose to keep a healthy heart. The human body sucks. Sorry about your uncle sounds like he achieved a lot in his short time on this earth.
It's 8 AM and I'm tearing up here. This is so beautiful, and it makes me appreciate so much being alive even though I'm crying. I don't know why I'm sobbing at this point. It's a mix of happiness, and awe , and sadness, and gratitude. Hans Zimmer is very blessed, and he blesses us with his geniality and with the profound emotion and beauty that he puts into his art.
You say "even though I'm crying", as if it's a bad thing, while all emotions are beautiful and important! To anyone reading this: I've always believed that feeling sadness, anger, even despair is part of being alive, too. It means there's something you care deeply for, and that these emotions are trying to tell or teach us something important. Embrace those parts of yourself, and try to find out what they're trying to telling you. Find the balance between 'good' and 'bad' emotions and don't ever give up. Good luck in this life to everyone

My dad’s favorite movie of all times was Gladiator. He passed away after a strong fight against lung cancer. He also managed to live for more than 20 years with skin cancer. While in bed, in his very last moment, apparently unconscious, I said whispering to his ear:
Here you will leave a man, you have trained a Gladiator, I will see you again dad, but not yet!

Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

ROMA CAPVT MVNDI !!!!
We all should thank Ridley Scott for having delivered this masterpiece, the gladiator, to the human kind.
I think I found the subtitled version.. I think this is the most accurate version:

I became fan of Redley Scott since I watched Blade Runner 1983. He is terrific.
My name is Randomus UA-camrus Commenterus, explorer of the OST's of UA-cam, General of the Troll Legions, and loyal subscriber to the true power, UA-camrus Premiumiis, obsessed listener to a constantly repeating score, husband to a concerned wife, and I will replay this work of art, in this life and the next.

Was able to see (hear!) Hans and friends last week in Oakland… no words to express how amazing they are 😍😍😍 They were actually back in Oakland last night (Weds) and I was trying to figure out how to go again 🥳
January 2025, anyone? This music seems to be timeless, while we humans have been evolving and progressing.

I'm gonna visit Rome this summer and first thing I'm gonna do is to stand still, close my eyes and listen to this song at the Colosseum for a whole 8 minutes.
and then get mugged.
damn i love it. enjoy rome!
Wish you good luck...I went in Colosseo, Palatino etc... this february...and gosh...the crowd is just insane, you have to get your path between the (forbidden) selfie sticks etc. Rome is beautiful nonetheless, but more magic when thinking about it than when visiting.
But be carefull in Rome there are so many thiefs:/
But it is a great city with a great History. Enjoy you time there, it is the greatest city in Europe
why in your country there are no thiefs??? Maybe who visit your country has killed!!

It's a tingling up and down your spine, its goosebumps breaking out on your skin, its shiver inducing and as several others have mentioned its tear producing. There's not many pieces of music written that can produce one of those emotions, this is one of those precious few that produces all four.
Music is audio emotion...

This was my dad’s favorite movie. He would be almost 62 as of December 5th.
Rest easy and without pain dad. I’m the man I am today because of the example you set. I’ll see you again. This side or the other. I can only imagine.
My dad passed away in 2016 he died from cancer and ever since I miss him so much. I just watched gladiator and it reminded me of my dad. He died fighting, and didn't give up till the very end. I love you Dad. You are a Gladiator
My pops went that same year, same disease. Even a day before his last breath he'd still try to rile up out of his chair and signal for his keys to go for a drive. 💪🪨
Almost the same story. But my father were induced to to a 5 day come only by protocol, hd was was already gone. But like me, don't you ever forget about fighting til the last round. Let this messege bring force to your heart
I’m about to lose my mother to cancer at 21, I’ve come here to listen to this song because it gives me strength and peace at the same time. Curious coincidence I found other people that lost a parent. Much strength and love to everyone ❤️🕊️

Two things can bring a tear to my eye. Eating hot chilli peppers and the ending of this movie :)
yeah . the ending was perfect . the maximus was able to die in peace with is family on the spot instead of living with pain for the rest of his life if he survived . good move by the producer

Because films made by engines of greed are made to sedate and plunder their audiences; films made by artists inspire.
@@Александр-о2л6э that's an interesting thought. Maybe we remain for centuries, even eternally, through reincarnation.
Just watched this movie for the first time tonight. I truly don’t think I realized what I was in for. I didn’t think I was going to have goosebumps by the end of it.
He always put 100% into anything he did and would “never walk past.”
Rest In Peace Bill Webb ❤️
Rory Mallon my condolences
Now he rests in peace Rory, God bless you man, I send you condolences and a big hug.
I thought exercise is suppose to keep a healthy heart. The human body sucks. Sorry about your uncle sounds like he achieved a lot in his short time on this earth.
what a tragedy, maybe to much exercise is bad for the heart?
May he rest in peace.
I just wish to die in war already. Would at least end my lonelyness. I don't even know, what I'm fighting for anymore....

The fact that Hans Zimmer didn't win an Oscar for this is outrageous.
