    5 Harmful Foods For Kidneys
    1. Red Meat and Animal Protein
Now, protein in and of itself can be a good thing. It can help us to build strong muscles and help us to heal faster. But if you have kidney disease, then you should stop eating excess red meat and animal protein
    2. High Sodium Foods or High Salt Foods
High blood pressure is the second leading cause of kidney disease. So if you have kidney disease and you're eating a lot of high-salt foods, then you will likely worsen your high blood pressure and worsen your kidney disease.
    3. High Potassium Foods
Now, potassium can be tricky, so I want you to please listen carefully. If you have an early stage of kidney disease or if you have a form of kidney disease where you're actually losing potassium, then taking in a normal amount of potassium may be healthy for you, about two to five grams a day. Be sure to consult your physician before making any dietary changes as far as potassium is concerned.
    4. Processed and Pre-Packaged Foods
What are processed and pre-packaged foods? Processed and packaged foods undergo manufacturing processes and come in pre-packaged containers for convenience and longer shelf life.
    5. Sugary and Carbonated Drinks
Please stop drinking sugary and carbonated drinks if you have kidney disease. When you are drinking sodas, they are loaded with added sugar. Just one 20-ounce bottle of soda can literally have as much as 65 grams of sugar!
Remember, maintaining a balanced and kidney-friendly diet is crucial for your overall health. By avoiding these harmful foods, you can promote the longevity and well-being of your kidneys.

I tried to follow my doctors suggestions by limiting protein. I became Sick. I am anemic, diabetic (A1c 6.7) high normal to low blood pressure. Total cholesterol 140, and ckd b. I was saving my kidneys, but dying of malnutrition. I could not stand up long enough to make coffee or a quick meal. I increased my protein and fiber as well as fresh vegetables and I am doing well. I now have energy to walk and do more cardio exercises.

Everything you eat seem to be bad for you in some way or other. I'm going to eat whatever I want in moderation, and live my life. Eat this, but don't eat that. Eat that, but don't eat this. Just breathing these days will kill you. God bless everyone. Have a blessed day.

You could do that and stay healthy if you lived 200 years ago when processed food didn’t exist. Now, food manufacturers add in sugar and salt - not because it’s healthy, but because it tastes better and customers like it. You can exceed healthy daily amounts of sugar and salt with just one small fast food meal. Do that regularly and you won’t live as long. Believe me, you will cling to life just as tightly when you’re old as you do when you’re young. Do your best to live a very long and healthy life.

@derripage5934 There is lot of fases before you start to eat healthy.
For me I was interesting in going healthy a lot of times but there are just some things inside of us and around us that makes it harder for us to change diet.
What you’re saying about that everything seems bad is just one of the fases, and most of the time only the things that are bad, are actually the things that you ARE eating what’s making you sick in the first place. So if you get over that small bump, which is only big in our heads, you can truly get healthy, but it’s just in the beginning that you need to really relearn things.
And also in the beginning, if you have a chronic disease, even the things that are good for you aren’t always the things that you can eat, so you need to get healed first with the things that you CAN eat. After that you’ll see that there is a lot of good foods you can eat, healthy and delicious food for the body, mind and spirit.
Really start taking things in your own hands, getting healthy passing it to others, friends and family is the true wealth.♥️✌🏾🙏🏾

Thank you so much for providing this vital information!
Probably not too many "healthy" people would chose to watch this video but I feel it's important to note that many of the foods you mentioned (high sugar, high sodium, highly processed foods) SHOULD BE AVOIDED BY EVERYONE - not just by those who are already sick! Processed foods are killing us and we need to emphasize this at every opportunity. Thank you.

My own nephrologist doesn't give my plant-based diet much credit even though I came off of dialysis and have stayed off dialysis for the past 12 years by avoiding all animal products and letting my digestion dictate what I should and should not be eating. It is nice to hear this sort of advice from an actual doctor.
Two amendments I would make is to avoid potatoes- those are also high in potassium- and to not avoid beans but limit them to only 2-3 meals a week. Again, listen to your body. If it gives you diarrhea, bloating, cramps, etc., that's a pretty strong indicator that your body can't handle it. Also avoid alcohol and sodas all but for a rare treat. If you do plan to give up all animal products, please do some research on how to properly supplement the couple of things you will be missing.

Wow you came off dialysis? The doctors always say it can’t happen but you did it , what a blessing! My husband passed away after being on dialysis for only 1 1/2 years! I raised my family as vegetarian but my husband was a very strong meat eater with hypertension! The drs helped him to go on dialysis faster by prescribing medicine that was killing his functions even faster, they gave him ibuprofen for a long time and then we seen another dr that said you shouldn’t be taking this! I pray that all who are listening to the dr in the video would listen to her advice, dialysis is not something you want in your life if you can avoid it! And for those who get off dialysis Gods grace and mercy and knowledge are with you! 🙏🏾

What are the "couple" of things that we would be missing?
You should write a book to help people. The medical industrial complex is certainly not going to share. We need peille like you to help your fellow man.

Keep shining like the metaphorical diamond that you are. I share each tidbit of wisdom and knowledge that you share with my family, friends and acquaintances. You have really helped me quite a bit to understand the inner working of my own body. Thank you, much appreciated.

I just discovered you and your videos. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I was suddenly diagnosed w/CKD in 2019. My endo had suggested I see a nephrologist years earlier, but didn’t express the urgency of my condition and I dragged my feet. Looking back at my old bloodwork, I see that I went from completely normal kidney creatinine levels (.5-.7) to 1.45 overnight and an EGFR of 34. I am trying to look back before 2015 to see what changed, what caused normal kidney function to change so quickly. I also have a 8mm not obstructing stone or maybe adenoma ( I have acromegaly and there was a large benign adenoma on my pituitary that was removed in 2009, along with half the gland!). I am at stage 3B and scared. My nephrologist has no pulse, just looks at the bloodwork, tells me don’t drink soda or take nsaids, period. I don’t feel like I should have to beg for info or guidance from my doctor, so I am looking for a new nephrologist on Long Island in NY.

"If one puts gas into a disel tank it can do damage to the disel engine"..we were born to eat natural organic foods..period..that's like our bodies..
We put things that are not meant for our system & it will also mess up our system & it'snatural cycle..we have a right to choose what we feel good with..

Too much sodium is not really the issue. It's the imbalanced sodium to potassium ratio that creates problems. And most folks are potassium deficient.

    • @jasongodwin1319
      @jasongodwin1319 10 місяців тому +6

Correct. 98% of people are potassium deficient. As long as you have enough potassium and water your kidneys will excrete excess sodium. Recently I had to ride in an ambulance. I had some heart problems because I had stopped taking beta blockers. The emt asked me what things I had consumed that day and I told her I had 100 mg of potassium, a very small amount. I swear this moron had the nerve to tell me that I should not do that unless a doctor tells me too because it is dangerous and I should only get potassium from foods like orange juice. OJ contains 500mg per cup and I only took 100 mg She is so dumb I wanted to slap her.

Yes....found out by tracking potassium I was hardly getting any and sodium is in everything so my ratio was very unbalanced. Now I try to get twice the potassium to sodium 2:1 ratio. Tho my eGFR is 17 I limit both sodium and potassium keeping the ratio correct. Hopefully my numbers will improve.

have to adjust to that. I also will read your new book. Thanks again.

I think you may need to read more current research on the effects of protein in relationship to kidney function and cholesterol.
From what I’ve heard from multiple doctors there is no credible research showing that eating whole animal proteins will negatively impact kidney function.
Maybe it’s different for kidney disease patients.
Also, cholesterol is a necessary component of our nutrition and physiology that’s been unfairly demonized and is highly misunderstood by most (including doctors).

Thank you doctor. My egfr was in the 90s and when I had a PICC placed and was on vancomycin, it dropped to the 70s in 3 weeks. I now have elevated albumin. Should I drink more water? I know I don't drink enough. I used to be thirsty all the time until I got my T2D under control...now I have to force myself to drink.

Hi there, I've been eating a meat based diet for the last 6 years and my kidney blood test is at 97? Think that is pretty good!

Bob, I've been eating carnivore too, but I'm in trouble. I had a partial nephrectomy in 2015. All my checkups have been good. Until now. I went carnivore over a year ago and just in the last few days I had an ultrasound and they tell me I've got a swelling/blockage in the tube leading down from my kidney. I'm scared. Tons of protein in my urine. (It comes out foamy.) 😟. I don't know if it's the cancer come back, or a stone or something. They said they'll have to do a CT scan to find out. (That's lots of radiation. 😞)
I guess I shouldn't have started carnivore even though I feel better than I ever have.

@cindyhesse5196 I'm sure sorry to hear that, each person is different I believe that universally one thing is sure, we were never designed to eat the amount of sugar that is consumed today, I will be praying for you that you will get the perfect diagnosis! Fear not! And search out what will work the best. It is said that good food is medicine/ bad food needs medicine.
      God bless you!

@@bobeldredge282 You are right. My fear has subsided a bit, because I found out the abnormal urine test is expected when you're burning ketones only. (The tests are designed for glucose burners.). And my labs actually look pretty darn good. So just this blockage thing. Wish there was a way to find out what it is without the CT or MRI. Thank you for conversing with me. I really needed somebody last night when I was alone.

I've quite smoking but those sodas was hard but finally id rather have water nowadays however that one coffee with cream and sugar is another demon yet to conquer. Of course I can do nothing myself but I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I just really appreciate this so much. Refreshing to view how to take care of kidneys I have had a few pickles, food choices are very hard here to choose in nyc, drug central. I know now it is high in salt and not to much to much. Battle of the food, your mind, body, soul and everything. They will try to make you famous or tell your business if you have something healthy to take care of yourself. It's an excuse and money scheme, I don't want is going on.
