Great easy to follow instructions. Fixing the button on my wife's pants was the very first thing I tried after winding my first bobbin. I am a rank beginner, but with these instructions I was able to sew on a 4 hole button with 4 mm spacing flawlessly the first time! I am a computer guy, not very crafty, so I can say these instructions were accurate and not any more complicated than the machine itself. Thanks!
My mom always put a needle in between the material and the button so the material didn't pucker when buttoned. It might also be easier for those with older eyes to thread the excess for tie off through a needle and sew it to the back for tying off. Great vid! Thank You!
Woo hoo! I have had this machine for about four years, i have never had the cofidence to sew a button hole or a button. I did both today! Just by watching your two tutorials. Again very clearly explained, so straight forward. Thank you
Buttons are so easy to sew with the machine and gives a really professional finish. And if you have an automatic buttonhole foot even better. I will not shy away from button fastenings anymore!!
Great tutorial. Well explained. Something NOBODY mentions is to drop the feed dogs when sewing buttons. Thanks for this wonderful tip and thanks for sharing and caring.
This was a wonderful tutorial. I like the fact you using a Brother which is an extra plus. I have a Brother ULT2003D. I will be looking at your other tutorial to learn more
I was wondering if there is a way to sew across on the diagnal holes rather than horizontal as shown here? I guess just for design purposes, i like the look of criscross stitch on four hole buttons. Thanks so much for this tutorial.
!!Great Job!!! Now I can show my wife how to sew buttons. Keep up the good work and will continue to watch your tutorials!!! Just purchased the SE400. Do you have a video of blind hem stitching?
after doing it today, I would say it stops automatically. I just keeps going down the same hole until you lift the presser foot and adjust to the back 2 holes, then it starts switching again.
Cheryl Rogers Some machines come with a plastic plate that cover the feed dogs. Guess that would be like lowering them. My brother machine has this plastic part.
Nice video but the music is in the way. Something I do when trying to line the button up, most of the time it slips out of place very much. I place my button then take a small piece of scotch tape and put it on the top & bottom of the button not the underside to prevent this. Not covering the holes. Works fine for me a novice sewer. Thought I would share that. Of course remove the tape when done.
Tried this with my Brother LX2500 cheapy (but brand new machine) and bobbin thread bunches terribly only when sewing buttons. I don't know why. I did it a couple of times and it was okay and now when I tried it again, it is not sewing the upper threads tight enough and then it is bunching underneath.
Beginner here... What about the bobbin thread? Is that needed or just the top thread is needed? May have missed that part, but greatly appreciated if someone could let me know. Thank you.
Maybe I'm horrible with math, but if I have a button that is 1/4 inch, it says that it is 6.something millimeters. My machine stops at 4 millimeters... is that normal? Does it mean that I can't use the button with the machine?
notice how this is one of the programmed machines ? they all use programmed machines . Mine is old style and it did not work for me and I tried all the zig zag stitches and etc and still a no go so don't try this unless you have a programable machines otherwise you will break your machine.

Best Tutorial Video!!! Trust me... lol.. I liked how clear and steady the camera was. Best of all, I could hear and understand what he was saying. :)

You are awesome!!! Thanks so much for the video. I always come here for how to. :)
Omg!
Very well done. I tried sewing buttons, but was unsuccessful, because I didn't lower my feed dogs! Thank you!
Happy to help!
You help take the fear out of using this machine! Thank you for your videos. I look forward to getting an email notice of the next one.
is there a way to sew buttons that have a shank on the back ? I use them mostly instead of flat 2 or 4 hole buttons ..
This was a wonderful tutorial. I like the fact you using a Brother which is an extra plus. I have a Brother ULT2003D. I will be looking at your other tutorial to learn more
Thank you had a button foot with a 2nd hand machine got last year no idea how to use it or or out buttons on until now :-)
Great tutorials. Thank you!

Thank you so much! This was a great tutorial...Got it on my first try thanks to you!!
Thank! Great tutorial. I'm excited to try it out and glad I have the same machine.

A trick : you can watch series at flixzone. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies lately.
Great video.
Do you have to wrap the string around the button like when you hand sew buttons on?
another great tutorial!!!! thank you
Great vid, and also choice of colors
Great video! Thanks!
does the machine stop automatically when you're sewing in the button (for either set of holes) or do you decide when to release off the pedal? thanks.

thank you for making this video. I didn't lower my feed dogs. I wonder if I can, the instructions in the book were very vague.

I didnt even know this was possible. If Burley Sew leaves youtube, we gon riot.
Do not know where to ask this but what size needle do I use in a t shirt embroidery?

You'll need the bobbin thread as well, Mr. Gonzalez.
Thank you well done.

same here, I max out at 4 MM between holes. Larger than that we need to hand sew.
can you do a button for the sq9185 I'm a new at this machine
Is not "English", is "Imperial" You are converting inches from the "Imperial system" to centimetres ("Metric system")
notice how this is one of the programmed machines ? they all use programmed machines . Mine is old style and it did not work for me and I tried all the zig zag stitches and etc and still a no go so don't try this unless you have a programable machines otherwise you will break your machine.
Thats a good video
Mj bkk
I
I have never tied the threads before and have never had a button fall off either.
Cool!
What machine is this?
Brother SE400
hello , is this any different with a shirt button that is much smaller
thanks
Singer 2100 how to put a bottom
all these measurements make it look complicated. i don't think it's necessary, I never did that.
Seems much more complicated than hand sew. I'll just hand sew.
yep me too will just hand sew because my machine is old style and not programable so it does not have a small enough zig zag for buttons
The buttonhole system is very disappointing
not very good.. you should visit some other sites to see this explained properly..
true...
