    Majority of the comments did point to either the MAF, Idler control valve or timing belt. But you were also told to get a scan tool to determine what the problem actually is. You got one and narrowed it down pretty quickly

  • @apachelives
    @apachelives 6 років тому +3

    Most older Subarus have a built in diagnostic tool under the dash - green/black connectors - connect them to read codes via the CEL, its never about "oh its this" "replace that", its always about confirming things - resistance checks, inspecting this and that (especially timing related components), voltage readouts, disconnecting things etc

    It must be nice to have enough money to pay someone to always diagnose and fix your car.
    I’ll save my money and spend some time learning to do it myself while feeling accomplished and usually save hundreds to thousands.

      Papa Pruett you totally missed the Lonny
      You could spend 20 hours chasing your tail, buying new parts you don’t need to still not fix the problem. Meanwhile, good mechanic fixes it in 2 hours and no new parts required.

    I fix alot of wrxs,if that code came up I would of put a scope on the idle control valve and checked duty cycle and current that would immediately show it stuck/jammed or working too hard because of another issue,,then would of put a amp clamp on the power/starter cable and done a relative compression check,which in all take about 15-20min gone are the days I pull down motors,covers and etc,life is so easy with a picoscope,btw love your idea about asking guys on fb,great vid.

    This could have been a great video but it seemed like it was solely made to make fun of motive dvd's fans. I follow Street Machine, 1320, Cletus, Mighty Car Mods and the list goes on. This is the only channel that never shows appreciation for its fans and actually went out if their way to make a video bagging their fans. It's so hard to be a fan and I've tried but this takes the cake and I've even purchased your videos on UA-cam and DVD and this feels like a kick in the face.
    People on Facebook groups usually comment with something regarding their own experiences with that particular car and it's up to the person who asked for help to decipher what's happening and make a decision to tackle it themselves or go to a pro. I've helped two people on Facebook get their rb25 running from my own experiences and all my suggestion was to unplug the CTS connector and it worked. Also I bet if someone had the luxury of being in front of the car like Andrew and Benny were they could have come up with the same solution.

    • @MotiveVideo
      @MotiveVideo  6 років тому +2

      anderson silva if you think we bagged our fans then you are making this video about you and taking things way too seriously.
      Our channel is based around educating our viewers with facts, data and results. We try to keep them away from the confusion of Facebook land.
      This is not an insult to anyone. It’s showing that sometimes you need to get proper advice, not ask the internet, which quote often does more damage and more confusion unless it specially tailored, which it often isn’t .

    • @boosted_l6787
      @boosted_l6787 6 років тому +4

      @@MotiveVideo obviously this video is isn't about me but there's lots of people asking advice on Facebook and forums and it's still making a mockery of doing so. It's a shame to have such negativity in these videos. All the others UA-camrs previously mentioned have all positive and inspiring videos and get more people into the car scene even on a budget or with plenty of funds but wanting to learn new skills and do it for them selves, which I applaud

Then wouldn't idle at all after a week, i thought it was the coils as it was a progressive faliure..nope was the crank sensor, lol after changing the coils, leads and cam sensor...the power of semi blind deduction....Although all that shit was old and cracked anyways so at the end it was a good refresh!

I guessed in the right problem area but my advise would be take it to a professional. My expertise is in computers and troubleshooting requires step by step information gathering and testing. Not realy a mystery. If explosion is happening in the , or should I say out the intake, it means ignition point is happening with one or more valves open. Eier stuck valves, or belt skipped , so cam and crank timing is out of sync. Solution: set timing corect with alignment points for true tdc on crank and cams. Shoot base timing and set corect. If still problem , engine out and complete head work. Now I'll watch 😂
