If I put my car on the dyno here and for argument sake say it made 400 whp and shipped it to the USA and put it on a dyno I garentee you it would read way higher 500whp or somthing , its like you say whp but really it's at the flywheel or somthing... Most of the bigger channels are done by early-mid 20's guys, in a VLOG style. Seems more genuine and relateable. Audience is the same age. That's just what people want to look at today. Young people follow UA-camrs and watch Netflix. They dont watch flowtv. Motive Videos are filmed and edited like a TV-show. A way different vibe, and not as popular with the younger crowd which is the vast majority of people watching UA-cam videos daily.
Good to see the torque plate being attached with the same fasteners that will be used during final assembly. Shops like Texas Speed always use bolts and have told me that it doesn't matter. 8:45
I had a engine machinist tell me "the flex/distortion is minimal with a block with a decent factory deck design" i said, any flex/distortion is no Bueno not matter how little it might be 😆 none is better than some when going for any kind of power over factory.

That finished block is a beauty, and that a lot of knowledge and precision right there to get the finished product.Curious to see what that displacement increase will do power wise.I always wanted to turn my 2.0 (vag 2.0tfsi)into a 2.2 but with my stock block it's a bit hairy to get there i would need a older gen 1.8 block to do that.Great detailed video.👍✌️👉

It's still considered cheap for this type of craftsmanship, some charge you more for less than 1/2 of what was done to prepare this block, thanks for sharing.
I think it would of been a good idea to line bore it with the torque plate installed, any motor i rebuild i like to use the factory size pistons and just hone the clearance into the bore so u end up with the thickest possible bore
The hardest part would be finding an unopened RB30 these days, between that and all the prep those billet blocks are starting to look fairly cost effective

So which hub dyno should I use to compare hp numbers to the Aussies? The person building my 26 and who I'm considering to tune it as well has a dynapack hub dyno but I know another tuner has a mainline hub dyno. 🤷🏾♂️
@@BIGSMOKE-bl2lq with the power and rev range being used at the top then there is no value in adding in the additional complexity of VCT if the build sits above 6000 rpm for its purpose “Drag”. If it drops of boost or falls lower In The rev range then the run would probably be aborted or just used for data.
And this is precisely why you get an LS engine. You can make 1000 hp on a junkyard block, fitted with budget internals and a budget turbo setup for probably half of what this engine costs. It will probably be more reliable too. And even if it fails, doesn't matter. Just buy the next junkyard engine.
I agree with all the engine prep. But a 1000 street h/p? Sorry but it simply will not happen. Cranked up to kill with 40+ psi maybe. But that is never on the street! I road raced against all the big number 4s and 6s with turbos. Yet could out power them with a 530hp Chev!! And that did 2000km between rebuilds, not 20km!
@@tuurbow We don't agree they can be used as street cars. The alloy expands with heat much more than iron and changes bearing clearances. Plenty say their "street cars", but we get to see what goes on behind the scenes, and we wont use one in a real street car yet.

its not useless. it helps stop the block from twisting, which is a problem with GT-Rs due to sump attached to engine, and adds support to the bore. yes, up top would help more, but the beat in the gtr game wouldnt grout the blocks if it didnt work
Sure Australian dyno’s read significantly lower. Doesn’t mean US or Japanese horsepower (ps) is clickbait or incorrect. US has brought so much to automotive performance table through innovations, manufacturing, and motorsports. To discount a dyno figure because it’s not Aussie is plain stupid.
It's not just about dyno power readings. We all know they read differently from manufacturer and dyno type, weather conditions etc... it's about some youtubers who just straight up pull numbers out of nowhere that are often wildly exaggerated just to get attention. There is a certain youtuber I used to watch who claimed for months that his car made 1000-1500hp, then after some time he finally put it on a dyno and it made 400hp at the wheels.

I'm interested to know why you didn't go with their integrated main cap brace?
PRP rates the brace for over 2000hp builds, so my guess would be that it's overkill for what they're doing. Also saves you $2k.

zero changes to parts. its a very small amount and crank has room for rods to move back and forward inline with block

The grout is completely useless. All the stress in the cylinder is the top .75" not the bottom half.....

1000whp in a supra with any reliability is going to need aftermarket main caps, rods and pistons, so 80% of the video would still apply.
