    Keto saved my skin. Also cured my insomnia, adrenal and hormone issues...I don’t know if it’s the solution for everyone but it was for me. I did full keto for a year and now I do a carb day once a week which is the sweet spot for maintaining energy and health for me.

It wasn't until a met a Naturopath who told me to cut down on carbs (it turns out gluten makes me break out like crazy lol). After cutting out gluten and lowering my carb, dairy and sugar intake, my acne vanished.

    Dr.Dray, thank you so much for your videos. You are an inspiration . I had a lot of trouble with my sensitive skin , rosacea, irritation and inflammation from most of the face oils. I tried almost all brands from Sephora, thousands of dollars ... everything that helped with my wrinkles (I’m 42) irritated my skin or made my eye watery, everything that was good for my skin and eyes didn’t helped me with my wrinkles. I started to watch your videos and I started to look a lot at the ingredients list. Now my skin is looking so good, no redness. I’m washing my face with Kiehl’s ultra facial cleanser, I use kiehl’s vitamin serum with hyaluronic acid ( no base on oil or water) , ultra facial moisturizer. In the night time I’m using retinol 0,25 % from first aid beauty and their moisturizer repair cream. No more red cheeks, less wrinkles, no watery eyes, no oil skin... sometimes I’m using La Roche Possy toleriane cream for sensitive skin /babe, no parfumé . It contains niacinamide, ceramide and squalane. My skin looks superb😊Thank you! God bless you!

    I'm glad that you mentioned the drawbacks in starting keto, they are real but can be prevented if you have a solid plan. I was off of refined sugars for a full year before I started keto and I think that helped prevent a lot of the issues that people face when going keto straight away. Focusing on electrolytes and vitamins along with increased hydration helps alleviate those "keto flu" symptoms, be sure to do the research into this eating plan and have your doctor monitor your progress. I started just as I was entering perimenopause, so I'm unsure if my skin looks younger because of keto or because I started following your skin care advice around the same time, lol!

    I’m about to dive into keto (plus intermittent fasting) for multiple reasons and boy I cannot wait! Weight loss is the by product and not the reason I’m doing this though it’s not a bad effect that will happen. I have severe issues with inflammation (skin, joints, muscles, sinuses…) and I’m also hoping I’ll get relief from my microbiome issues and severe migraines. I’ve tried everything including a slue of medications and nothing has worked. It’s been like putting bandaids on a wound that needs far more treatment. For the past 2 months I learned everything I can about the diet and this is like a Hail Mary for me and I’m praying it’ll work. If it doesn’t I don’t know what else to do but tons and tons of super positive raves about the amazing changes people have gone thru give me lots of hope! I also have guardianship of my youngest sister who has a severe form of epilepsy that medication does an ok job at helping but not good enough. She’s going to try the diet with me, with docs consent, and we’re hoping it’ll help her out too since it’s been shown to. Thanks for this video Dr. Dray!!! ❤️

    In 2014 Istarted experiencing neurological symptoms, such as numbness and tingling in my legs. At first, the doctors blamed these issues on my weight. However, after nine months of worsening symptoms, my doctors referred me to a neurologist. Right away, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). In December 2016,I suddenly lost the ability to control my legs during a shopping trip. It was terrifying. I had to call my husband for help getting home. Although I spent some time researching the keto diet, and came across a book on keto diet. After reading it, I decided to give it a try. I eat way more veggies now than before keto and I cut out most refined sugar and carbs. I also love when on this diet I feel full for hours without the nagging temptation to snack constantly, definitely feel so much more satiated for longer periods. The Carnivore diet does not include any carbs. The Ketogenic diet allows low carbs. I'm Keto and I can eat 15 to 20 carbs a day. We don't avoid all fruits. We can eat avocados and all berries. We can eat quite a few vegetables, too. I eat a lot of broccoli. We just have to count the carbs from the fruits and vegetables. I tried the Carnivore diet and was bored. That's why I'm Keto now. It works great for me. But, it's definitely not for everyone. I've never felt healthier and I drink plenty of water. I take a multi-mineral supplement and use Lite Salt, which has electrolytes in it. My doctor knows I'm Keto and has no problem with it.

    You did great in explaining that. I started very slow (like you said too), 4 years ago. I started with cutting the extra sugar in coffee etc, then looking out for it in foods innkl. carbs (like souces etc), than eating less fruits, but still eating it (berries etc). Than i did interm. fasting. After that it's a lot easier to go on a very low carb diät or keto. I'm going for a max of 50g carbs, so that i can still eat some fruits or different kinds of vegtables. I also drink water with lemon, bec. of the hydration. If you start slow, then you won't have many issues going into ketosis, only mild version of it. When it comes to inflammatory issues. The most important thing that you can do, is to stop using oils like, seedoil, sunflower oil and soya oil. Use butter, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil.

    I'm glad you mentioned the pro's, the con's and the unknowns. I've had to study the Keto diet in my psychology undergrad because of its use in treating epilepsy in children and this was well before it became a fad diet. It was often said that we just don't know the long-term effect of this diet. There are some possible detrimental outcomes pointing towards premature dementia as well as cholesterol issues though it's very limited on data; a common plague in nutrition science. Keto diets definitely can be useful when done correctly but it became a pet peeve of mine when people think it's the only option to lose weight. The longest living people on Earth consumed a diet largely carbohydrate based and we shouldn't ignore this when trying to look at the big picture. We really shouldn't be considering extreme options unless it fits a very specific goal requiring it. Weight loss itself can be done on any diet granted the caloric intake is under one's personal metabolic rate.

      Roasting, steaming, or blanching is good. Many people can't digest raw veggies very well, and you don't absorb the vitamins if you can't digest them. Boiling will leach out the water soluble vitamins and some minerals, but not all of them, or you can use the water as broth. The nutrients from broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots are actually more easily absorbed if they're cooked first.

    • @jessicah3450
      @jessicah3450 3 роки тому +1

      Better to study efficiently than for longer hours. We know you don't retain or recall info well when you're sleep deprived, your brain checks out when you're tired. Even 30 minutes of extra sleep will improve your cognition the next day. Sometimes it's better to put it aside and come back to it in the morning after you've slept. I found audio versions of some of my texts too, so I could multitask a bit. Loved listening to lectures or books while commuting or eating. Some people can power nap, I can't, but it helps some people feel refreshed. You just want to nap about 15-20 minutes, set an alarm, longer than 30 minutes, and you'll go into a deeper stage of sleep that will make you groggy upon waking. Personally, stepping away for a few minutes too, just 5 minutes to take a cool shower, get fresh air, grab a healthy snack- when I returned to my books, I felt refreshed and could think more clearly. If possible, don't study in your bedroom. This can confuse your brain, and make it more difficult for you to fall asleep when you want to. Your brain associates this room with sleep and that will be on your mind instead of studying. I utilized my library as much as possible and was there until it closed every day. My brain associated the library with studying, and I could focus so much better there. You also want to develop good sleep hygiene, so you can get the most restful sleep possible; a short routine you do every night that makes your brain ready for sleep. You want to get the most from your time studying and your time sleeping, it takes planning and discipline.
