      Yeah it wasn’t too bad, I do a pan flush about every 15k to keep it clean. Maybe this video can get out to some more customers. lol 🤷‍♂️ thanks for watching 🍻

      This is where I was headed but not many are set up this way, and the pan was fairly cheap upgrade. 🍻

    All the room on the pan and they put the plug right above the exhaust lol

    I was checking out the PPE pan. It has the drain plug towards the front of the vehicle/exhaust. Definitely more costly though.

      Yeah I was looking at that one too, and not a bad option at all, but kinda out of my price range at the moment. 😅 thanks for watching. 🍻

    Good transmission. MERCEDES BENZ 722.6. Worked on a lot them and they are very reliable. The only problem I ever saw was from owners not doing this.

    An oil extractor works wonders to get 3 quarts out before dropping the pan.

    Great video bro! Yeah this has been an on-going issue with the Dorman Trans pan. It's been brought to their attention on more than one occasion and they still haven't' addressed it. Nevertheless, I'm happy to see that there's at least some sort of upgraded pan with a drain plug on it. I was looking at the one PPE offers which has fins for heat dispersion and a drain plug too! What's your thoughts on that one?

    • @ATEMOFFROAD
      @ATEMOFFROAD  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks bro, I’m just happier now that most of the fluid gets in the cup rather than all over the driveway 🤣 not exactly the best drip but hey the mess is less. Thanks for watching 🍻

    I wanted to see if there was enough clearance for the oil pan to clear without lifting the transmission and this video was very helpful and got even more information. Thanks for including the fluid amounts too and showing how the drain on the new oil pan works.
    I have some comments/reservations about the new oil pan if I may:
    The issue I have with the pan is that it is painted power coated; Over time and especially due to the constant contact with the transmission fluid, the finish of the oil pan may age to the point of possibly flaking off or dissolving. Which then of course could create some major issues. Anyhow, just my thoughts, hopefully my concerns are unfounded.

    Was 90k your first trans fluid drain and fill? If not, how often do you recommend? My wife's 2018 jk has original fluid and filter at 70k and thought about doing this. Thanks!

      Stock wheels and tires (33s depending on how heavy and the use) id go around 50-60k with 35s and up 30k miles max. I do have the 42rle in my 09' mi but so far using those 2 metrics hasn't let me down. If doing more off-road driving then city/highway 20k miles.

    @atemoffroad, do you use the BG Quick Clean and Conditioner? Would you add the conditioner after you drop the 2nd 4.5 quarts? No reason to add it when you drop the first 4.5 quarts, right?

    • @ATEMOFFROAD
      @ATEMOFFROAD  9 місяців тому +2

      This method you will never get all of the old fluid out, but you will get most of it. This is why I recommend the doorman pan with drain plug. This way you can cycle and drop the fluid out as many times as you want after the first initial pan drop and filter replacement.

    I’m still confused as to how much fluid is drained from dropping the pan. You show about 4 QTs. But then how do you get the rest of the fluid out to have to fill with 9 QTs?

    • @ATEMOFFROAD
      @ATEMOFFROAD  4 місяці тому +1

      @@bgriff2517 I took about 4.5 out , then put the new pan on and put 4.5 in. Drove around for a week and then took 4.5 of that out using the new drain plug and put 4.5 new in as away to easily flush out the old fluid and in with the new. A pan flush is about 4 qt , but there will still be fluid in the torque converter

    • @bgriff2517
      @bgriff2517 4 місяці тому

      @@ATEMOFFROADawesome. That explains it. I’m planning on getting a case of 6 QTs. Also doing the transfer case, so the 6qts should be enough. Thanks again for the explanation.

      Is there enough room to wedge in a small funnel under the drain pan hole? that would eliminate most of the mess using the new drain plug hole.
