Good video. I'm a happy owner of a 2006 CRV with 512 000 miles on the clock with original engine and transmission and the only reason I believe it has lasted so long is because I change the oil every 4000 miles and the transmission fluid (3) changes every 25000 miles. Plus, all I do is highway miles. I separate the (3) drain and refill a day apart as that's around 400 to 500 miles for my daily drive. That's the secret people. Change your fluid, and these things will last forever.

@novafalcosmith Well. The best advice I can give you is to never flush a honda transmission. Only do the drain and refill 3 times every 25 000 miles, and you should be okay. Also, "only use original Honda ATF DW-1." There are a couple of options around like AISIN DW-1 or Idemitsu that people say it works fine on Honda’s but why risk it when they are not that far from the price of the original.
Regarding oil. I would say every 3000 miles for city driving with a good filter every other time or every 4000 if you do highway driving.
The problem with the K24 engine is that they have a lot of blowby, and this contaminate the oil quicker.
If you use a good oil filter like Mobil One or Purolator One, you can charge it every other time you charge your oil. "But only if you respect the drain intervals of 3000 or 4000 miles depending on driving style"
Diferential fluid I do it every 30 or 40 000 miles, and it's still in good clean condition when I drain it. Maybe you could go up to 50 000 miles.
Coolant. It is very important that you use a good brand like Valvoline Zerex for Asian Vehicles, and you will need to drain and refill every 50 000 miles or 2 years. Whatever comes first.
I'm still on my original water pump and thermostat because of that.
Powersteering fluid I flushed once. When I got the car with 140 000 miles. After that, I just suck whatever I have on the reservoir with a turkey baster and refill it with the original Honda power steering fluid every 25 000 miles. Usually, when I do the transmission drain and refill. It is very important to only use Honda original power steering fluid. NO ALTERNATIVES
Brake fluid I do a flush/bleeding every two years on summer and use Prestone DOT 3 as the DOT 4 is a little thinner and could create leaks if your seals are worn out.
Other than that, it is just luck. There is nothing else you can do except changing the parts that broke.
I had only issues with leaks on the VTEC solenoid (gasket)
Intake Rocker arm position sensor going out, and most recently, I had to change the knocking sensor.
Other than that, I only do wearable stuff like suspension parts and brakes.
This has been the toughest car I have ever owned

I have a honda civic i-shift. Automatic/Manual transmission. Had a clutch installed since previous owner wasnt driving it properly. So clutch installed at 89k kms therefore transmission fluid must have been changed. Honda did it for me. My question is, when I get to 130k kms I would like to change the fluid like how you did it, will it be ok? Cos Honda always talk about having to re learn these type of Auto/Manual cars.

You can also evacuate the fluid when it is hot with a vacuum pump. Makes the process even faster. Of course, if you don't know what shape your magnetic drain plug is in, you should do the initial drain the conventional way by removing it and using a pan.

You wont get all the old fluid out with three drain and fills. Each time you drain and fill you are mixing new fluid with old fluid. Based on what you provided, first D&F nets 35-45%. 2nd D&F will get you 60-75%, 3rd D&F is 75-85%. You need to do 2-3 more D&F to get over 95% replacement. A better solution is a simple fluid exchange system by intercepting fluid line. Capture old fluid in a bucket and refill while engine is running. This gives you a 99% fluid replacement in one session with a lot less wasted fluid.

I've heard 3x on at least some models... but recognize that's only because at a dealer they have to do the service all at once. For an owner it makes much more sense to do single drain-and-fills at 1/3 the interval. Same cost/trouble per mile but you will always have a better proportion of new-to-old oil and lower contaminants. Otherwise by that third drain you are draining 8/9ths (or thereabouts) brand-new expensive fluid.
