I had my 07 Ridgeline since new. Every oil change, drain trans, three quarts of trans fluid. Always red when comes out. Very little on drain magnet. That will insure longevity.
You can also evacuate the fluid when it is hot with a vacuum pump. Makes the process even faster. Of course, if you don't know what shape your magnetic drain plug is in, you should do the initial drain the conventional way by removing it and using a pan.
If the new and old oil is mixed fully before the next drain and fill, an 8 quart transmission will end up with 87.5% new oil and a 10 quart transmission will end up with 76% new oil. Not too shabby.
Also for people that got the ZF nine speed all you do is have to use max life from Valvoline. It’s $25 a gallon from Walmart. Don’t waste your money on that special transmission fluid. It’s a waste of money. I flushed mine over four times now and I’m at 273,8765
Interesting. Can you share the bulletin? I also have an Acura MDX and it's Bulletin calls for 3X drain and fill static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10145420-9999.pdf
I've heard 3x on at least some models... but recognize that's only because at a dealer they have to do the service all at once. For an owner it makes much more sense to do single drain-and-fills at 1/3 the interval. Same cost/trouble per mile but you will always have a better proportion of new-to-old oil and lower contaminants. Otherwise by that third drain you are draining 8/9ths (or thereabouts) brand-new expensive fluid.
Has it ever been changed? If not, I wouldn't start now as changing out the fluid can cause the trans to start slipping. If you are going to do a drain & fill keep the old trans fluid in a clean container just in case your trans starts slipping, you may need to put the old fluid back in.
If you are talking each drain and fill to equal a flush, I drove for a week in between, but you could do all 3 the same day. For the overall maintenance interval, refer to your manual. Usually about every 60K for transmission fluid.
I also do a poor man's brake fluid bleeding by just sucking out as much fluid as I can from the reservoir and filling it with new brake fluid. The new stuff finds it's way into the system and I can feel the pedal get firmer. 😏
For very hard to remove bolts, using a socket, always try to use a 6 point socket. 12 points are great for destroying bolt heads.
Great tip! Thanks for watching!
I think an impact wrench can break it loose without stripping it also. But with the 6 point socket as Ram mentioned.
Love the video !

That's the way to do it! Thx for watching and I appreciate the comment!

More of a question. If you do the three (3)-time drain and fill, do you use NEW fluid for EACH drain and fill? That requires twelve (12) quarts!
That is correct. Thx for watching!

Very easy to follow, thank you!
How is this done at the dealership because they charge about 200 bucks for this
Can they remove all the fluid at once
Not sure. Thx for watching!

A flush or pan fluid change will kill any transmission if it has not been serviced and the fluid is burnt/black.
Thx for watching!
Are the crush washers compatible with a 2011 Pilot
If same diameter it would be.

Used them today and they worked perfectly
How often i change my atf fluid on my old 1999 Honda Civic Ex?

@ yeah i changed it with new fluid honda dw 1 but no problems so far it shifts smoothly
How long in between each flush?

Please wash your engine off or the area that you’re gonna be pulling off and please never use 12 point sockets on any type of aluminum fitting
Great tips thx for watching!
shut up 🙄😂
