The fact they literally skipped the iPad Mini like it was nothing is still mind blowing. Even a chip upgrade and fixing the jelly scrolling with a new display would have been okay. Like given the iPad mini the A17 pro or M1. But no they ignored the cutest one in the entire line up.☹️
Idc about it being the cutest but from a functional standpoint I prefer the mini. Its more of a glorified ebook reader as well as notebook I had a mini a few years ago and regret selling it was holding off for this event and ofc was disappointed. May get a mini again or opt for an 11” air idk

Yass, THIS! The iPad mini is the _right_ size for so many use cases. And this was a snub far bigger than the bigger screens on other iPads. I have had one - dubbed "the ultimate couch accessory" - since the very first. @Testimony201.. I bought an iPad Pro 11 instead of a mini 6, and I hate it. The thing is just. too. damn. big. So now we wait for a new mini with OLED, spatial audio and powered by M-silicon.
iPad and iPad Pro for content creation, and iPad Mini for content consuming. A slight upgrade in performance and Face Unlock for the Mini will be good enough for me...

I have a 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 and I don't think I would need anything more than the 13 air for art apps with the new pencil. The pro is just overkill with ipad os limits.

Thank you for your good advice. One way I use my iPad Air 11” is that I am able to connect to my desktop computer from my iPad (with a cellular plan) using an app. Is like having my desktop in front of me. Since my iPad Air is old, I am considering a replacement. But now I’m undecided between the Air or the Pro. and what would be the best size. The pen would be a new experience since my iPad Air was developed prior to the pen came out.
Great review about all of the pro’s and cons of each of these. I have been waiting for the new M4 and the OLED screen. I currently don’t have an iPad and this is my b day present to myself. The speed, brightness increase and the ability to use it for Art and Music were my selling points. I would like to learn more about the tweaks for charging the pencil to the horizontal format. Also, the nano screen seems to be available only when you go to 1T and above. Thanks for the honest review!
I also have the 2020 iPad Pro. There have been a few quality of life improvements, such as the Apple Pencil hover and the option to use Final Cut, but those haven't made the cost worth the upgrade for me yet- especially when you consider the additional cost of the accessories you'd end up needing to replace because you can't reuse them. (Such as the magic keyboard.)
This new price for the air is also cheaper. With the M1: 128 gb with the apple pencils gen 2 was $878. This new version with: 256 gb and Apple Pencil pro is $828! Fifty dollars less for a newer version!!
Finally going to upgrade coming from iPad Pro 10.5, and wonder if losing promotion higher refresh between air and pro will be felt

Edited after watching the whole video. Coming from the 10.5” iPad Pro (2017) I’m in a bit of a quandary. I use my iPad like you do - entertainment, social, messaging/FaceTime (I’m really appreciative of that landscape camera). I do some photo editing but no video. So for all things I lean to the Air 13”. But since I kept this Pro for 7 years so will likely keep the new one that long, would the Pro (even thought it’s overkill for my use) but a better future proof device?

Nope unfortunately. Apple Pencil USB c sucks but the new pro pencil seems overkill for me. After all this wait now I am debating if I should have just gone w the m2 pro 😢

I just order the Ipad Air 13. I don’t have an iPad and I wanted something to put sheet music on that had a decent screen size. I don’t need too many fancy features. I did add the pro pen because I like that it charges on the side of the device.

Just ordered the 11 inch air. I just recently bought the 2022 version looks like it’s getting returned to Best Buy. Now to figure out if my folio will work with the 2024 version.
I'll be picking up my iPad 13-inch 1 TB white with new keyboard and pencil on the 15th at 10am. The RAM increase for the 1 TB makes it the only choice for me. Slight processor upgrades if you get a 1 TB also. 2 TB would be nice, but not sure I would use it. With OnDrive, I can move files off the machine, so the larger storage is probably unneeded. Not sure though?
I’ve got the gen 3 iPad Pro, want to pick one of these to upgrade, I mostly use it to play some mobile games and watch UA-cam/Netflix etc. I’m guessing the air will do everything I need?

I've iPad still running 11 years on. Only that some apps don't run, aren't supported. But it's still good, very good.
You should upgrade because Apple doesn’t protect old devices like that, the 9th gen ipad is only 249$ which is a huge upgrade for such a low price
They need to have the desktop version of applications available on the ipads. I hate that i have to download a different version of the software i use on my laptop to use on my ipad.

I changed my mind. I ended up buying a one terabyte iPad Pro the reason it gives you 16 MB of memory instead of eight and I also got the no glare screen spent a few bucks more though and unfortunately, I won’t get it for a couple weeks that I will miss

Till today, my iphone and ipad mails can't sync at all. Mails that were read but still unread on the other device. iPad still comes in 12.9" and its dimension is not usable in many corporate web pages. There are still many websites need PC. Why iPad can't display and work the same as regular PC browser? I owned so many iPads since it started but I am exploring Android Tablets now.

I just a got a iPad Pro 12.9 inch m2 2022 1TB last month. I’m just a casual user. Surfing online, watching movies and take notes. So I don’t really need to get the new one right. I love mine
I ordered the new 13-inch iPad Pro, even though I have the M2. 256GB is more than enough for me. OLED is just cool and the M4 probably consumes less power, but is a lot more powerful. In the end, the deciding factor for me was that I can still get up to €525 for my old iPad Pro and as a student I end up paying less than €1000.
I’m impressed with how Apple was able to engineer the iPad Pro. Now we all wait for the reviews. Still not convinced on upgrading from my 2018 12.9 inch iPad Pro.

It may have an M4 chip but it is still an Ipad. The software is just not keeping up, the 2018 ipad pro can run everything I need from an Ipad.

For me im going Ipad Air with the Pro Pencil - I haven't upgraded my ipad since like 2018 - so ANYTHING is going to be great but i love the new features to the pro pencil but feel the air has enough bells and whistles - but thats just me
Great up grads for artist, musicians, and content creators. But for the business person, not worth the upgrade. My M1 iPad Pro will work just fine.

Probably not, but it definitely NEEDS that functionality! In a perfect world, they'd allow it to dual boot both operating systems! iPadOS is great for casual content consumption, but when it comes to professional and creative usage, it's lacking severely on software options! Hell, I'm a 3d printing hobbyist and the iPad doesn't even have a decent STL slicer yet!
Fr my m1 iPad Pro always glitches with the Apple Pencil hover and also when I’m using my Apple Pencil on apple apps the battery lasts for like 2 hours from 100%

My 2 year old I pad pro was great, but I've a few cracks in the screen so it's time to replace it. My new pro arrives on the 15th😎.
I was considering the Air 13” but not enough for me to spend 800 to “upgrade” my M1 Pro 12.9 the new 13” pro priced itself out of the equation. 1500 + 350 keyboard and 130 for the pencil. Nope The OS doesn’t take advantage of the hardware as it is and I didn’t see any improvements to the OS that changes this.
Does the all new Magic Keyboard work with the all new iPad Air, and if so does it work with the M1 iPad Air?

What I hear from friends and family who have to use the ipad in a professional capacity (Pilots, engineers...etc) is that they want an Ipad that is more sturdy, has a better battery, and an extra USB type C port.
All of this crap about it being thinner and more powerful is just useless when the software is still crap, and the build quality doesn't hold up.

Because it has shared unified memory, the 8GB is reacheable by both the CPU and GPU, so it can avoid the data duplication better like when you have 2 different RAM for CPU and GPU, and without that data duplications it's actually save a lot of used memory, alias you need less (and by the way more RAM stacking is only clever idea in desktops, devices from battery use more power even in idle/standby mode, because RAM is not like a storage, you need to continously supply with power, or it will forget every data.. so you just wasting your battery life if you only use light tasks (so 8GB is totally fine for you), and you put more RAM like you need.
Don’t forget, you can trade in your old iPad for some value off of the price. 1st. Gen iPad Pro 11 with 256GB going for $235 on the Apple site. That at least pays for your Apple care or some accessories if you want. Best Buy also has trade in, albeit for less.
I traded my iPad Air 22 for the Pro. I hated the finger print and will be back to optic unlocking
More power which most people don’t need. I am still excited though for the future of thinner, more powerful and more power efficient technology. Good news for phones in the future. I still have my 2017 and 2022 iPad Pro and I don’t need a new one. Only thing I purchased is new Apple Pencil because I draw.

The Apple Pencil requires screen sensing signals to function properly, unless you want to use it literally 'on' Vision Pro.

I guess i will be buying 13inch… also 14 inch would be nice laying down on bed and watch movies. I wonder they will make macbook support the pencil on screen. Hey, I've been debating a new iPad, or if I need one, or if my Phone is enough for what I need. As far as a new Mac goes ( I have a late 2015) 27" iMac which will officially be unsupported by Apple once Monterey has been dropped from support. I have been moving toward Linux for the desktop. The way Apple is moving in terms of what their focus is for desktop computing really doesn't fully meet my needs anymore. I still like macOS, but they've taken away 32-bit support, so that makes it hard to play old games without staying on an outdated version of macOS, and they also just keep taking away control from the end user when it comes to things you have control over to help make things more secure, which is good for people who need it, but for those who want a bit more freedom over the computer, it's getting tougher. So I felt like Linux was a good balance. Especially since I don't depend on anything specifically Apple anymore, or at least nothing I need on a daily basis.

I’m big on the pro-motion 120hz. So upgraded my 2017 iPad Pro to 2022 iPad Pro 11in. Would have gotten the iPad Air but no 120hz is a dealbreaker. Cannot justify the cost increase to get to OLED and don’t need an M4.
Very good for the environment if you have to buy all new accessories, even if the old ones still work perfectly. What's particularly annoying is that this isn't a hardware issue, it's just a software restriction to boost sales.
Basically, it's not worth upgrading if you don't use it professionally.

The air is now a really great iPad for 95% of people, even the base model now with M2 and 128GB. The Pro is awesome especially with OLED, M4 and 256GB base, but the OS just lacks the software to make use of that power.
Etched glass is interesting if it adds texture for artists, but a bit of a shame it is not availalbe on lower storage options...
The pencil is ace. I was kind of blown away by the price of the 11" pro, its pretty reasonablt IMHO, and if it's too steep £599 for the Air is decent, it's almost a last gen Pro anyway!

Not interested I am owning the iPad Pro 2018 , working great till today , last year my sister purchased an iPad Pro M2 , both are almost same in 90% daily to daily tasks , won’t upgrading till the next iPad Pro upgrade.

The event was pretty dull.. Nothing overly exciting...Pencil was the best bit being an artist, and due to the limited OS I wouldn't go any higher than the air 13" as the pro's power just seems wasted for me and the air should just run procreate/illustrator/fresco/concepts & affinity designer just fine with the new pencil

You may see it as a way beyond comparison from the m4 compare to the m2 powered chip. But I can say that ipadAir is good buy than the reduce pro version where theres no ultra cam, same battery hours as the 2020 pro, same design only with landscape camera, and yes it is good to be thin. But I’d rather have a little bit thick iPad pro with at least longer battery life. MiniLED is a good enough display for me. But it depends on every person’s preferences. And I prefer the air this time.
iPads sales have been slow and they thought it would drive more sales to make none of the accessories work with any existing models and none of the old accessories with the new models? Wildly dumb.
The event was done to Apple standards and definitely lived up to the hype. I’m glad it was early in the morning before all of the sporting events get going for the day. I’d like to use my iPad to watch movies while traveling and then watch sporting events while I’m at home or on the go. I have an extensive iTunes collection of sports movies and sports highlights and it takes up a lot of space if you have everything downloaded to the hard drive. I would rather have it on the hard drive instead of using iCloud because when you use the Internet, it does buffer where I live out here in the country. I’m anxious to see what Apple does announce on June 10. I’ve been saving my money for a while and I’ve definitely see an upgrade for my iPad 2018. The keyboard case is showing its age and definitely needs to be replaced.

I’ve M1 iPad Pro 12.9 Inch, and I still believe it’s an over kill and too big for everyday use. I would highly recommend everyone to wait for the new iPad Mini, trust me for everyday use from home to office and even in the gym that’s the daddy of all tablets. The only drawback of the current gen iPad mini is it has a LCD Pannell.
The iPad Pro looks pretty much the way it has been at the service for the sixth consecutive year already. To no change other than relocating the camera.
I have a 2018 model iPad Pro. Now fast-forward to 2024, the front surface still looks pretty much exactly like my 2018 model. We did get all those features but I’m sure it’s just a software update for most of them. So for me, because of the fact that the front facia looks pretty much the same as it has been for all that time since 2018 when they did that radical redesign, it’s not worth it, especially for the price hike. If they did a big redesign in the front then yes I would get it but since it looks pretty much the same. Nope. I’m gonna keep my 2018 model. Hopefully it’ll last me through the next year or two until Apple does a big redesign

For real! After the Apple Watch Ultra, I was hoping Apple was gonna move into a new era of "brutalist" design, with tougher, more bulky products that packed a TON of power and battery, at the cost of being a bit heavier. I definitely would've preferred they go that route, but alas, it appears they're gonna keep making their products thinner and flimsier😢
Just simply buy an axcessory for it with built in battery, and you get a thicker iPad with longer battery life.. but not everyone want to carry a heavy thing, so if the battery life remain at leadt the same, most of then will happy if it's lighter.
Many PPL want there ipads to be light and how will they do it? By making it thinner duh,I also like it a little bulkier like the air but not bad since I don't use it by holding , it'll be at my desk

I bought the most recent iPad Pro 12.9” in 2023 and for my purposes it serves quite well and will for a long time to come. Therefore, I will not be upgrading this year. There’s nothing nothing from today’s announcement that peaks my interest. Thus it’s not worth the upgrade!
