- Blinding Shotgonne Outlander gameplay in Tarroch's Tomb (NG+2 Elite)
If you liked this content, please consider subscribing to this channel. I post Torchlight II builds that are both effective and fun.
The best thing about the Shotgun Outlander build is it's boss-slaying capability. Venomous Hail combined with Shotgonne Mastery ensures boss monsters are permanently blinded for the whole duration of the fight. This leaves them absolutely helpless, allowing you to farm them up for easy wins.
This perma-blind effect can be seen towards the end of the video. The final 4 bosses were just stuck there doing nothing, unable to see and attack my Shotgonner Outlander.
Against trash mobs, Rapid Fire and Chaos Burst are your bread and butter in the early game. Once I unlocked Venomous Hail at level 42, it became my main offensive skill.
Bramble Wall is perfect for this build. It's sole purpose is to be destroyed. You cast Venomous Hail on the Bramble Walls to trigger Poison Burst. This combo allows you to deal massive splash damage on groups of monsters. It becomes even more potent if you have Glacial Spike spell-triggers on your weapon.
Repulsion Hex and Stone Pact help the Shotgonne Outlander survive better in combat.
No build is perfect. If I were to redo my skills allocation, I'd swap out Rapid Fire for Shadowshot. Rapid Fire is practically outclassed by other skills in the late game. Shadowshot, on the other hand, is great at all stages of the game.
The homing projectiles of Shadowshot just makes it so convenient to use when clearing a room of low-health stragglers. It's also got the longest range compared to Rapid Fire and Chaos Burst.
I've seen and read about players trashing Shadowshot, saying it's unreliable. But I disagree completely. Shadowshot is about as reliable as Shattering Glaive or Storm Hatchet.
I had fun playing this build. It's practically OP against champions and boss monsters. If you're looking for an easy grind in Torchlight 2, this is one of them.

Thank you for all these builds, it has really re-kindled my love for the game.
That's good to hear. It's so much fun revisiting old classics like TL2. Thank you for your feedback.
Iv been looking for an outlander build that would suit my gameplay but i found your emberquake + fusilade engineer build and i immediately loved that build. 😍😍
Now im still checking your outlander builds since ive finished the engineer 🤣🤣
using this for my first hardcore character run to get the achivements. this has been useful so far. thanks :D
Glad you found it useful. Thanks for dropping by.
Beautiful build
Great video, this character is my fav!
Glad you liked it. Thank you.
I already installed the game yesterday and this video recommend me which i already used now is shotgun, so preety sweet tnx!
I'm glad you liked it. Have fun! 😸
that's awesome man. i love torchlight 2. keep it up. you earned yourself a subscriber ;)
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
@@cyclingcmdr you earned it bro. there are not so many people out there doing torchlight 2 builds on youtube you are special. btw how do you know what skills to choose for your character class i always end up getting one shot by mobs around level 30 :( i really want to master the game mechanic but i don't know what to do
I read a lot of guides written by veteran players, and then figure out what works for me and how I can improve it. The mechanics of the game is quite convoluted, and so having a sound knowledge of, say, how damage is computed is key to building characters that are fun and effective. The steamcommunity forum has a plethora of great guides.
@@cyclingcmdr oh that's nice. Can you send me a link of the guides you use the most?

new to the game can I ask why do you leave 188 skill points unallocated?
how you enchanted 200 atributes on item?
u really like the skeletons and the spores huh, hehe
Hey, just started TL2 and leveling a outlander. Works fine for now, but how do you manage your mana reg? I couldn't see any mana reg stats on your gear. Im not sure, but focus does only increase your MP, not your manaregen, or does it?
It does. Well, sort of. I had read somewhere that as you increase your MP, your base mana regen increases by a proportional amount. That said, it's still not as efficient as having actual mana regen items equipped. For this build, I do have mana regen skulls on the gauntlets (7:39), and a Concentration VI spell equipped.
Thanks for doing all the Outlander build videos. Helps get a feel for what the later game would play like ! For the shotgun build, did you also consider shadow shot over chaos burst ? I am working on a gunlander and shadow shot seems easier to play with
Hi. I was originally going to choose Shadow Shot over Chaos Burst. But I accidentally put points into Chaos Burst, so I just went with it. But yeah, you are correct. Shadow Shot is easier to use and is, in my opinion, a far superior skill than Chaos Burst or Rapid Fire.
@@cyclingcmdr oh I see, awesome. One more thing, I was wondering how you were dealing with the knockback from shotgun + rapid fire throwing the mobs out of range continuosly. Feels like I have to chase the mobs a lot so that they are in firing range
@@anshulbansal8719 Yeah that was my main issue with Rapid Fire. It's range is incredibly short. Once you've unlocked Venomous Hail, you can use that to finish off mobs that go outside Rapid Fire's range.
What did you up for the attribute each level?
Like 2 STR 2 DEX and 1 FOC ?
I raise my Strength (or Focus) to 100 as soon as possible. Once I reach that goal, I then raise the other stats based on the stat requirements of weapons or armors that I pick up. If a weapon requires X amount of Dex, I raise my Dex. If an armor requires X amount of Vitality, I raise my Vitality to that level. In other words, my stat allocation depends on the loots that I obtain.
Wieso machst du nichts in Vitalität rein ?
Hello, there. Really liking your builds. About this one: isn't chaos burst a bit redundant if get venomous hail? And a general question: poison burst work with akimbo, right?
You are correct. Chaos Burst is redundant. I wasn't planning to raise it, but I accidentally put points into it early on. So I just decided to keep it and max it for fun. And yes, Poison Burst should work with Akimbo.
@@cyclingcmdr thanks. One last question: which skills would you recommend for a akimbo auto-attacker?
@@klilton I have zero experience playing auto-attacker builds. Maybe you could use this build, but instead of having Shotgun Mastery and Chaos Burst, you put those skill points into Akimbo and Long Range Mastery.
I Wonder if you are focused od STR, is it really worth inserting glacial spikes into your weapon instead of adding more crit dmg, or that 200physical rune?
Hi. Glacial Spike is one of the most powerful spell-triggers in the game. Even with 400 Focus, Glacial Spike is capable of dealing insane damage far exceeding the 60% crit bonus of Rambren skulls. Capable of dealing AoE splash damage, I highly recommend Glacial Spike when using multi-hit skills like Venomous Hail.
@@cyclingcmdr yeah i know right now that it was useless as u already have almost cap crit dmg :) . Still isn't legendary shotgonne tri-force catalyst better than day of the beast? I mean chaos rift is Annoying But don't u lose lots of damage? Cheers, great build anyway
Bro I have question. If my hero reach lvl100, will I still be able to get points for upgrading skill and stat?
You will stop receiving additional stat points when your character reaches level 100. As for additional skill points, you'll receive the final point once you reach the 'Unattainable' Fame level. Most players stop grinding Fame at the 'Demigod' level though.
Hey, thanks for your builds. I'm new to the game and I'm looking for a class that I can farm without too much gear, which one do you recommend?
Same here
Hi. For ranged classes, the Prismatic Bolt Embermage is not as gear-dependent as the other builds, which makes it a great starting class. Prismatic Bolt is quite a potent skill that scales well with the Focus stat and the Brands passive skills. You also get access to the Death's Bounty skill pretty early. It's a highly effective healing skill that regenerates both HP and mana. I remember my progress really sped up as soon as I unlocked Death's Bounty.
As for the melee classes, the Emberquake Engineer build is also a great starting class. Flame Hammer is a decent starting skill whilst you grind towards unlocking Emberquake. Healbot and Forcefield also make the early game grind less tedious.
@@cyclingcmdr thanks
hello, im new to the game, where do your mana regen come from? i have to pop tons of mana potions so I must allocate my left click to auto atack
Outlander Dual Pistol Venemous Hail build? :D Like auto-attack and VH based?
Interesting. But the thing is, VH is so powerful that you might find yourself auto-attacking less and spamming Venomous Hail more. Even in this video, I was barely using Chaos Burst and Rapid Fire. VH is just too OP to not use as the main attacking skill.
How u get that gear? And echants? Do you farm tomb or?
Hi. Most of these were farmed in Tarroch's Tomb. The enchants were from the enchanters Borris and Karkozi. I used the Sweet-Aide potion trick to improve my chances of getting better enchants.
I'm having trouble getting the weapon, where did you get it?
Legendary (red) items are extremely rare, so I don't "hunt" for them. I just got lucky this dropped randomly. But this isn't the best shotgonne in the game. The Netherrealm Shotgonne is still the best and far easier to find.
Sad to hear that TL3 is *_never_* going to reach the lvl of TL2..
_press_ *_F_* _to pay respects_

What?
What patch is this?
I play the Steam version 1.25.5.6
Playing this game again after 2 years
Nice. Have fun! 😸
Do you use any mods?
It seems that way, but I don't use mods. This is the base version of the game.
acabei usando shadowshot e chaos burst fiquei sem habilidade geradora de carga xD
You made the right choice. Shadowshot is quite a versatile skill. I wish I could remove Rapid Fire. 😹
Tbh blind renders bosses useless and it’s op af
So true. If you hit them first, it's over for them.
