My local dealer wanted $3300 for this repair. It went out on mine at 38k miles and I've just been pumping a can of freon every month since then to 46k miles now. Ordering parts and going for it. Thank you for the video!
Great video. I am watching this because I need to replace the resistor and the fan motor for the rear. I also have an issue with a damper in the front to where the fan is at full speed but hardly any airflow coming out of the vents. Clearly an airflow restriction. Is there anyway we can chat and I can pick your brain for a moment? I am a commercial HVAC technician so I’m not clueless to turning wrenches lol
Can you tell me what the low and high side pressures should be reading? I have a 19 expedition reading 29/150 little over 80° air temp. Only getting like 67° out of the vent.
@@davidbures4441 No . If you just need the evap core you can just replace that , The reason I replaced whole ac unit there was a T.S.B. from ford on it , a design change .
@@heartlandmechanic not sure what I need. In Ford they told me it's rear evap core and replacement is 2200 plus tax. The technician gave me this part number JL1Z-19850-AJ
@@demsaretherealvirus2153 This will be a easy repair for a hvac tech , You already have all the skills , Hard part is paying the crazy price for parts and freon .
@@heartlandmechanic thank you sir as I dig deeper it seems like a leak out the contaminated refrigerant. Air blows cool for 10 minutes then air flow slowly diminishes seems like evap is freezing or non condensables

So unlike the front/main evap, there is no cabin air filter for this rear unit?
How many of bottle we need for the freon!?

Can we get the part numbers?
Where did you pick up the whole set up??
I have a 2015 Ford Expedition neither the cold or hot blows , what could it be the blower or resistor or fuses??? Pls help!
You will need to check for voltage & ground at rear blower motor .
I have a 2016 ford expedition platinum and my back heating is not coming on but the ac is fine pls help out
I'm stuck on how to remove the back cigarette lighter wire.
Is there two ac compressors? One For front and one for back?
One compressor
hi, hard hard is to replace a rear evaporator core? is it opposite side of car trunk?
The rear evap core is inside the ac unit case like the one I replaced in this video
@@heartlandmechanic thanks! So better to replace whole unit..

You pull a vacuum on the system?
Yes
@@heartlandmechanic I am thinking of attempting myself, any tips you can give to a veteran commercial hvac tech other than take it to someone?? 😆

During reassembly do you have a reference for torque specs?
