Picked up a 2016 M235i a couple weeks ago. Your videos are great. Pulled the filter out and it was dirty as hell. The previous owner put it in backwards. Followed your instructions exactly. Thanks bro
Just as an FYI the air filter goes in backwards to this video for the 2016 M235i, as long as you paid attention to the filter when you pulled it out you should be ok. Otherwise you may want to go in there and switch it around or replace it again
Thanks for the helpful video! Just as an FYI to 2016 M235i owners, the air filter actually goes the opposite direction than in this video, the dirty side is facing the passenger seat and the clean side is facing the engine, just did mine and it was the original bmw filter from 2016. Filled with debris and crap! Gross. Bought this car last weekend and I have a date Saturday and didn't want the new looking car to stink lol
Another 2016 m235i owner here. For me, using same air filter as in the video, blue side was toward the passenger cabin and white side was towards engine bay firewall when matching air flow orientation, which is opposite of what’s shown in this vid. Just wanted to confirm for others out there. Thanks for helping out other DIYers!
Thanks for the informative diy Fritz, just installed a 10 dollar eBay filter which appeared to be identical on either side, and no arrow indicating which way it should go. Either way perfect fit, we’ll see how it works
Great Vid! QQ noticed you also have an empty hole for the 12v accessory cig lighter in passenger well like mine. Would love if you can make a video to install this trying to find stuff online and not much there. Talking to the dealership to get schematics. Thanks!
The BMW OE filter has activated charcoal, however I like the idea of baking soda as well like the one you got, did you feel there's a difference for odor control with the baking soda one when you installed it?
Was the seat fully retracted? It stops halfway and then if you hit the button again it will go the rest of the way. I did not have this problem and even squeezed in the camera.
Thanks for the video. Saved significant $$$ over having the dealership do it. Keep upp the good work

Thanks lot, I was very confused about which side the filter goes however, you made it way easier, gracias!
Thank you! Happy to help.

The filter might not have directional sheets, but for $10 it sounds like a good deal. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for a very thorough and thought out video. Including mentioning the detail about the color of the filter facing the fire wall.

Thank you. It hasn't crossed my mind but if I do I'll send it over.

Thanks for sharing, I didn't know that. I can't say that I really noticed a difference in odor
Thank you My friend
Hi brother, have been watching and subbed for a while - quick question: does your driver seat for m235i recline all the way back?
Just did it, piece of cake!
Thanks have a M240i vert and due for this.
Me as well, I should have just done DIY but I just let the dealership do it along with the other service.
How often should one change it
Would putting a dryer sheet on the filter cause any issues?
Should be fine. Just be careful when placing it in so that it doesn't wrinkle
Thanks
No problem. Hope it helped
This filter is like $65 if you buy straight from BMW dealership...
That's the stealership for you lol
@@FritzRamos LOL Funny!
This was not an easy job. I practically had to stand on my head to get it done. I’ll let someone else do it for me next time.
