Good video. Although there are a few more differences between the 19X and G45, besides the color, mag well, and magazine non compatibility. They should add that back to the Gen 5 or maybe 6. 19x has maritime firing pin spring cups, for when I emerge from the water - you never know. Ultimately, your training is far more important than the trivial differences between these.
One other difference is that the 19X apparently has maritime spring cups around the striker that allow the gun to immediately fire if it's been submerged in water. It's just a $15 part that could be added to the 45. Does anyone know if that's easy to do or is it something that requires a gunsmith?
You need a punch to push down the ejector spring to remove the backplate ("Glock Disassembly Tool" is cheap and exactly the right size). The striker will slide right out, then you set the base on a hard surface and pull the spring down with your fingers (does require a little bit of hand strength) and the cups will either fall our or you can easily flick them out. Do not release the spring without doing it slowly and wear eye protection - it can fly at this point. Best thing to do is have the new cups ready and put them in without ever releasing the spring. Make sure they line up and fully seat before reassembling gun. Do not use pliers on the spring.
The way I played this is I could never find an X in stock when I had the opportunity. I got the 45 and then put Spartan Operators on it and then bought some +2 extensions for the mags. Same gun without the lanyard loop and it's got the front serrations. Plus no issues with fitting mags. I'd still love to have the X though.
I looked at both of these weapons. I ultimately purchased a G19 and G17 both gen5's. I will rarely carry either as I mostly carry my G43x with 15 round Shield mag. However, having owned a G19 and G17 in the past, I wanted these weapons over the G45 or G19x. If I had to choose between the G45 and G19x, I would choose the G45. They are all Glocks and they are all great, durable weapons.
Have you looked at the TruGlo fiber optic tritium pro’s. They of course have the tritium vials and emit a nice glow in the dark plus the fiber optic tubes that pick up ambient light. They don’t wash out like the night sights. All my Glocks and my Springfield Armory 1911 Ultra Compact have these installed and for me they work great.
I just picked up the 45 MOS yesterday and love it. In looking around at the Trijicon RMR RM06 they are almost as much as the 45... FYI- For all you Veterans out there you can buy a Glock at Blue Label pricing with a copy of your DD-214 or ID... God Bless and Semper Fi
Thanks for your service. I got a model 17 MOS to carry. I love using the red dot now that I got used to it. I got a Leupold Delta Point Pro and it is working well for me. I like that you can replace the battery without having to dismount the whole sight, and it has a bigger window, Colion Noir has a series of videos on how to get used to a red dot, and so does the Humble Marksman. Enjoy.
I was looking at a 45 & a FN 509 but I kept being drawn to the 19X. I kept thinking "why would I want another Glock especially a BABY SHIT BROWN one". Came home with the 19X AND the 509, haven't been sorry yet. Who says all guns HAVE to be BLACK???
Excellent video, thank you for sharing this. I have an early gen 5 Glock 19 but now I want the Glock 45. I won't tell my wife that you are the one that put that notion in my head.
I own both models and both are excellent. The G45 has the advantage of being available in an MOS model which is the major functional difference besides color between the two. My G45 MOS came with a factory threaded barrel and I changed the sights out anyway to Trijicon suppressor height night sights along with adding a Holosun 507C. I don't believe Glocks are the end all be all pistols, but they do check all the boxes for a gun that will save your bacon better than almost any other pistol in a self defense situation. In a SHTF or apocalyptic situation, it's likely I would fill my hand with one of these two models rather than any of the other handgun makes/models I have in my safe.
Interesting! Always thought they were the same. I agree - Glock45 for the W Edit: it would be interesting to see these in other calibers (Glock45 type but in 40, 45, 10)
Yes I would love the short slide of the 23 and the capacity of the 22 but for 10MM the 29 with the +2 Pearce grip extension give it a really good feel and the make a finger extension to the glock 20 mags I have but not really a fan since it’s my concealed carry
Most of the reasons you chose the G45 are personal tastes and preferences. Perhaps the difficulty in seeing the sights in a very particular lighting situation would be the only reason I think you mentioned that might be a real world reason why someone would pick the G45 over the G19x. And that's still not enough reason for me to pick the G45. I have both, as well as the G19 G5, and I prefer the G19x. Front serrations are useless to me and I don't care about dressing up a gun. I don't care for the typical Glock sights. Color is not a big deal to me - black or tan both work. I've had many guns over the decades, none of which have a flared mag well. I have never missed it so that's not a big deal for me either. And the ability to exchange mags between guns is not an issue. I have plenty of mags for all my guns. Anyway, it comes down to this: since functionality, reliability, accuracy and durability are all the same on both guns, I too picked a gun because of a personal preference - the G19x sights. I like them. I don't have a problem seeing them during the day, and certainly not at night. As I've told people that have asked my opinion on this guns, you can't go wrong with either gun.
My gun shop had both but the 45 was cheaper by about $50. I asked why , they just shrugged so the 45 it was to be for me. I own 7 & the 45 has the best trigger by far. It is the only gen.5 I own though. I put tru-glo sights on it & a grip sleeve. I enjoy it.
Great video, but oh geeze!!!!! Pinch point, mag floor plate lip, no lip, Gen 4 mags vs Gen 5, blah blah blah…. People would complain if they got hung with a gold rope! I love my G19X with coyote tan G19X 17 round magazines!!!! I don’t care if my Gen 5 mags don’t fit.. the Tan color is awesome!
+Hammer Striker I do not own the G45 (although I have plenty of trigger time behind one). I do won the G19x and it is my favorite shooting Glock. Thanks for the video!
They are both great guns, I think the only thing that tipped my favor to the 45 is that I can just see the sights more easily. Just my eyes and night-sights.
I bought a 19X last weekend. The X was five dollars more than the 45 and it did not have night sights on it. The night sights on the X were the deciding factor for me at this time.
I had the 19x for years, sold it, and now I’m looking at the 45 because I’m basically just gonna buy a 19x again and feel dumb for selling it the first time
@@mattbenson2034 I know exactly how you feel.. it’s like might as well try a different weapon yolo. Glock 45 and 19X have diferent finishes (coating). Glock 45 is a nDLC diamond like coating and the Glock 19X a PVD physical vapor deposition coating. Austrian Glocks have a more parkerized color finish because of the Tenifer treatment they apply to the gun.
I'll take the 19x for sure if I wanted a 45 I'd just get a 19 or a 17 . 19 x is only glock with maritime cups and first factory color so no Brainer on that plus 19x is a one of one design and really could even be a great collection either in your glock line up or as a military nostalgic piece of gear . The slide on 19 x has best action I've ever felt better than my 19 mos gen 5 and better than my 43x its perfect first glock that I've gotten that has zero pig nosing aswell cut off front tab throw out lanyard and put a agency gen 4 magwell on it God dam it ..
I own both. G45 is my duty pistol. 19x is my trail pistol for outdoor range shooting. My G45 did come standard with Glock night sights & not the U notch.
Same. Been my duty weapon for over a decade! I know it like the back of my hand & it's never let me down. Trust my life with it! The 19x is lookin pretty tempting tho tbh lol
Needing to forcibly remove a Glock mag was indeed an issue before they started putting metal inserts into their mags. A loaded mag would swell and it wouldn't drop free. I had this issue with my G21.
If the Glock 19x came in an MOS. Version it honestly would’ve been perfect for me. 9/10 Atleast. Trigger is definitely improved, feels like a broken in glock 19 trigger. If it had the trigger from the sig sauer 320 it would’ve been a 10/10
Lol at this. I’ll take the 19x. My favorite pistol and i own some sweet pistols like the m9a3. X5 legion. G34 and many others. Love the 45 but I like the grip I get on my 19x. I’ve only been carrying for about two years and 19x was the first gun I Carried and I didn’t find it that hard to conceal. Of course my p356 is a lot easier tho.
Has anyone ever had a problem holstering a Glock? I haven’t. The nose of the slide is cosmetic only masquerading as a feature. I like it, it looks good, but let’s be honest.
45 for me I love both and all Glock pistols but I like the finish on the 45 better I like fde but my friend has one and it shows scratches and wear more
Glock 19x all the way. front serrations are no good for me. I would never use them since I don't like my hand anywhere near the business end of a gun that is hot or that I am making hot. Also, gen 5 mags are a bad idea. Don't understand why Glock kept them after they got rid of the notch on the grip. They need to go back to previous gen mags and streamline things. I used glock 19 gen 5 mags on my gen 4 glock 19 and they do pinch your finger on quick reloads cause of the shorter grip. they are fine on the 17. and even though the color doesnt mean anything as far as function, but man it looks goooood!! for a glock...
“Ambidesstruss”? Fascinating how many people butcher, in a variety of ways, the four syllable word am·bi·dex·trous. Listen for it, many people add an extra syllable: am bi dex tree ous. Anyway as always great video. All my best
I looked at the Glock 45 and 19x. Both are very reliable pistols. I went with the 19x for many reasons. I will say this, the 19x shoots great. But whatever Glock you choose in any caliber it will perform. That's Glock perfection.
this makes no sense, there is only downsides of 19x, as you cant fit other mags from gen5 as it has different system, also its all other downsides as its gen4 platform vs gen5.. Just get glock 19 and add baseplates to mags so you still have a choice to carry concealed...
Well. In answer to that question I’ve very recently bought a G 45. I like the 19x but do not care for the bump on the grip that prevents the use of other magazines. Love the desert tan color though. I like the trigger in the G 45.
Sights are not a reason to choose one model for another. Aftermarket is much better quality, inexpensive and you get better visibility and day or night (tritium).
Gen 5 also has the match grade barrel with polygonal rifling and it has a better trigger than the Gen 4. The sights and the triggers are always the first things to go on a Glock anyways!!

Like the coyote colour on the 19X, can the lanyard attachment be removed and placed in another Glock?
I looked at both of these weapons. I ultimately purchased a G19 and G17 both gen5's. I will rarely carry either as I mostly carry my G43x with 15 round Shield mag. However, having owned a G19 and G17 in the past, I wanted these weapons over the G45 or G19x. If I had to choose between the G45 and G19x, I would choose the G45. They are all Glocks and they are all great, durable weapons.
shield armes mags good for you I've been having problems with some of mine for shore
Really have been thinking of the Glock 45 MOS, so good to hear how much you enjoy it! Be safe and healthy.
Enjoy.
John Dilday Thank you sir, I will check them out, enjoy..
The Vortex Venom is a nice red-dot at a reasonable price. It has an auto on/off feature that makes it perfect for defensive guns.
Why own more then 1 9mm?
@@someguy5444 Why not have more than 1 firearm? I seem to love and want them all -- yeah, I'm weak!!
Excellent video, thank you for sharing this. I have an early gen 5 Glock 19 but now I want the Glock 45. I won't tell my wife that you are the one that put that notion in my head.
Thank you. I won't tell if you don't.
U
Interesting! Always thought they were the same. I agree - Glock45 for the W
Edit: it would be interesting to see these in other calibers (Glock45 type but in 40, 45, 10)
Yes I would love the short slide of the 23 and the capacity of the 22 but for 10MM the 29 with the +2 Pearce grip extension give it a really good feel and the make a finger extension to the glock 20 mags I have but not really a fan since it’s my concealed carry
We all know we're all buying both!! Get outta here!!
Can you swap the slides of G45 and G19x? Will they shoot or function properly?
I’ll go with the G45!🇵🇷
🇱🇷
Have both. Prefer the 19x and tend to shoot it more at the range. Great video as always 👍
Choose the G23 instead.
My gun shop had both but the 45 was cheaper by about $50. I asked why , they just shrugged so the 45 it was to be for me. I own 7 & the 45 has the best trigger by far. It is the only gen.5 I own though. I put tru-glo sights on it & a grip sleeve. I enjoy it.
3:24 interim gen 4 models never had the beveled front slide. Not sure you got this from.
I just bought the glock 45 I love it
I bought a 19X last weekend. The X was five dollars more than the 45 and it did not have night sights on it. The night sights on the X were the deciding factor for me at this time.
Same here man! Picking my 19x up this weekend. The sights are what did it. Can't wait to hit the range 💥
I had the 19x for years, sold it, and now I’m looking at the 45 because I’m basically just gonna buy a 19x again and feel dumb for selling it the first time
@@mattbenson2034 I know exactly how you feel.. it’s like might as well try a different weapon yolo. Although… unless it’s a specific reason that you’re gonna pick Glock again..if I were you, I would just go for a whole other manufacture like a Sig or FN. Even the M&Ps by S&W have grown on me. I’m carrying a M&P shield rn lol
I would just stay w/ G17 and G19 since I already have them. But with this comparison, I would go with the G45...you get front serrations and MOS options.
I just went 17gen5 and I carry it ever single day and have no issues what so ever. Idk if it my body type or what but it conceals just as good as my 43x
I have this 48 with some shield arms 15rd mags. I can't stop carrying it. My 19 hasn't seen daylight in months.
Chapmans Creek Revival same lo, the only reason I carry my 19 because of my weapon light and 2nd level retention holster lol
I enjoy both theG45mos w Holosun red dot and a G43xmos w Holoson green dot. Both do well at the range and as my EDC in IWB Werks Kydex holsters fit for Streamlights. Just enjoyed my first GSSF open competition due to Johnny Glock upgrade triggers. I don’t know how I ranked but both my 17 year old grandson and I shot in the mid 400s out of possible perfect score of 500. Man did we have fun!
Glock 45 and 19X have diferent finishes (coating). Glock 45 is a nDLC diamond like coating and the Glock 19X a PVD physical vapor deposition coating. Austrian Glocks have a more parkerized color finish because of the Tenifer treatment they apply to the gun.
Gen5 g17s came with grey frames and no front serations in beginning.
You can remove the lanyard loop with the tool.. the magazine will then fit.
That’s not true. The reason mags don’t fit is the the polymer lip on the front.
I like both pistols and own both the 19 and 45. For concealed carry I prefer the G19 with the flush 15rd mag.
Best comparison of these models I’ve seen.
I own the G45 and absolutely love everything about it. No interest in the 19x.
Only true difference is the paint job
Excellent and full of interesting information! Well done!
Thank you.
I own both. G45 is my duty pistol. 19x is my trail pistol for outdoor range shooting. My G45 did come standard with Glock night sights & not the U notch.
Can you inter change or swap the slides of G45 and G19x?
@@nongtools10 yes. I've done it. The upper & lower are compatible & interchangeable.
*I own a glock 19 gen 3, all I need!!!*
wes Wes ok James yeager
Same. Been my duty weapon for over a decade! I know it like the back of my hand & it's never let me down. Trust my life with it! The 19x is lookin pretty tempting tho tbh lol
Trust NoOne you should get the Glock 45 instead
@@isaiahwhite8012 if I'm gettin a "glock 45" it's gonna be a Glock 21! Lmao
Have a G19, P07 and Canik, and like them all equally well, but if I could only have one of them it would be the CZ.
Thousands of rounds each through a Glock 17 and 19 and never had a failure. You can't go wrong
Same, literally, and without much cleaning either.
I love my Glock 45 it stays on target and shoots perfect
The 19X is pure gen 5, this is a fact. Not sure where the "mostly gen 4" stuff is coming from.
I agree
If it is pure Gen 5 then it would accept Gen 5 mags, right ?!?
Where are the gen 5 front serrations?
GetYourGuns it will accept gen 5 mags if you shave the grip lip off at mag entry point. It’s a gen 5 in every fashion of the term.
Lamont Simpson there are several iterations of gen 5 guns that do not have FS.
Needing to forcibly remove a Glock mag was indeed an issue before they started putting metal inserts into their mags. A loaded mag would swell and it wouldn't drop free. I had this issue with my G21.
Also had that problem with the g23
One guy said. The trigger is a little different on the 45 smoother wall. Than the 19x. Witch he thought was crisper brake
Thanks for going into the mag differences
My boy’s G45 shoots sweet
Love my 19x worth every penny
I wish I could get the G45 but here in CA I'm stuck with the G19 Gen 3 using G17 mags with a sleeve.
Did you mention the cost comparison? I didn't think so, that could also be a deciding factor too.
Under normal circumstances they are the same or within $25 of each other.
A little brown paint I have seen on the 19X. This guy camouflaged it and it looked pretty cool. But either one is a good choice.
Hate the plastic feel of the average polymer handgun. Talon Granulated Grips fit the bill for me, they are a huge improvement.
19X ALL DAY LONG
Glock 45 every single time
The lanyard hole on the 19x can be useful
“Ambidesstruss”? Fascinating how many people butcher, in a variety of ways, the four syllable word am·bi·dex·trous. Listen for it, many people add an extra syllable:
am bi dex tree ous. Anyway as always great video. All my best
Are the grammer nazis recruiting? Id be good pointing out the inadequacies of people and making them feel inferior. Send me an app.
The ability to use both hands is Amphibious , 😆
I would carry the Glock 45.
@@leodoingthings1706 it’s all on what you prefer tbh. Some ppl wouldn’t mind buying magazines that only fit 19x
Well. In answer to that question I’ve very recently bought a G 45. I like the 19x but do not care for the bump on the grip that prevents the use of other magazines. Love the desert tan color though. I like the trigger in the G 45.
I'm getting both 😏
Why didn’t you try the tan extended mag in the black G45? 😃
Excellent video and explanations
The gen 4 g20 had a dark tan lower option as well as the g22
I’ve liked them fine. It’s just until the SF frame, they didn’t fit my hand well enough. Hard to believe that minuscule difference would matter.
Adding the large backstrap to the X changed the way the gun felt in my hand.
Sights are not a reason to choose one model for another. Aftermarket is much better quality, inexpensive and you get better visibility and day or night (tritium).
You forgot one of the most important and biggest Differences between the 2!! The 19x has maritime spring cups
I like the maritime spring cup on the 19X because dropping your pistol in water is something that could realistically happen
Those are only like $15 though, so not a huge problem for the 45
I have both but I sold the 19x, I just like the black color better.
I want the 45 for duty and that 19rd 19x mag to complement it
I just bought my 19x, and will get the 45 later on
You didn't say wanting about the marksman barrel?
That’s what I was thinking. Never mentioned the GMB
Gen 5 also has the match grade barrel with polygonal rifling and it has a better trigger than the Gen 4. The sights and the triggers are always the first things to go on a Glock anyways!!
