- This is a table top rundown of the characteristic differences between the Glock Model 45, the Glock 19X and the Gen 5 Glock 19 9mm pistols. A Glock newest model (e.g. G45) is not based of patents. The G45 doesn't have any new patents offered. Glock got a lot of patents from the beginning even prior to manufacturing firearms... When the G17 came out it was Glocks 17th patent. From then on, anything Glock makes in firearms that's different simply gets the next model number...hence the model 45. Too many people believe with each new model that it either represents a new patent added to said new model or represents how many subsequent Patents Glock has....i.e. 45 patents. Which Glock does Not have 45 patents per se.

So you're telling me the glock 17 has a 17 lb guide rod was their 17th patent(even tho you cant just a gun) n they were like lets call it the glock 17... Why? Idk cause it holds 17 rounds

Yeah the 19x has a lot of dumb military requirements. G45 is a really cool gun, I don't think I'd buy one over a g19 personally but then again I don't need a duty gun, and that slightly shorter grip for edc is preferred for me.
I really wanted my first gun to be the 19x but suddenly decided to go with the 45 and man I don’t regret it ✊🏼

Thanks for the informative video! I recently bought the Glock 19 Gen 5 in Sep 2022. This latest version has all the updated changes that the 19X has on it, which at the time didn't have when the video was released. Thanks again for the video.

I really liked the 19x out of the three but didn't have a practical use for it. Being as I could only get one I got the G17 MOS and love it. I did some upgrades to it as far as sights and trigger.

Got mine today!! I went in for a g19, and didn’t even know about the 45. The 19 grip was just a bit short for me, the 45 is sweet. I also have a 43x for ccw, same length grip as the 19, but thinner, also love it.
Get the shield arms s15 mags for the 43x and switch your mag release to metal steel.

The G19X is probably the most ergonomic and balanced Glock in its 40+year history. Thank you Glock. You omitted the fact that the 19X includes 1-17 Rd magazine, and 2- 19 Rd magazines. First time for metal night sights as standard on the G19X. The improved trigger and marksman barrel included. The G19X is now as of 3/2023 a bargain at 588.oo clams everywhere. The new military Coyote finish a first for Glock adds to it's exclusivity. A very desirable model as proved by its sales success. Love mine along with another GLOCK masterpiece, my G17L with 6.02" barrel. PERFECTION.

I've still got my Gen 3 Glock 19 that has had thousands of rounds through it and still keeps pumping out lead with no problem. The only other Glock I would like to have would be the 19x , it's an awesome firearm.

I’m turning 21 August 3, and am going to look at Barretta, glock, or sig for my first pistol. I wish I had the money for all 3 but I don’t. I have shot my dads glock 45, not a fan of the stock sights or the take down of it, however, it is so reliable. I’ve also heard that glocks can either have a good trigger or bad trigger out the box. If I’d go with glock it would either be the 43x or 19. Never shot a sig before but that is my second choice. I know both glock and sig are super reliable, just not a fan of the look of the sig models like the glock, however I like the stock sights so much better and would not have to spend any more money on a sight. I’ve never been around a Barretta, however I’ve heard mixed reviews on the reliability of them, but, out of the three I love the look of Barretta so much better than both glock and sig. I’m going for a future ccw so.
There was multiple number of design changes in the magazines during any one generation of Glock. The first generation of Glock 17 had 3 different design changes on its magazines

The mag cutout is for malfunctions where you need to strip the mag out, not quick reloads. Good video though
I could see the usefulness of the half moon cut-out on the gen5 series if you were wearing gloves & needed some extra real estate to grab w/ a malfunction to rip the mag out. That said, I chose the G45 as my new duty weapon, replacing my old gen4 G19 & I'm happy they did away w/ the finger grooves (mine did come stock w/ Glock night sights, which get the job done, but looking at trijicon HD's in the near future). The only thing I don't like is the texturing. Too aggressive for me, especially on the front strap, so like my gen4 I through Talon grips on.

It really depends if you like the more compact nature of the Glock 19 grip size. Going up to the G45 you will get a larger frame. Also, some of the Gen 5 features are an upgrade such as the barrel. At the end of the day you will need to decide if those changes are something you are looking for and if you want to pay the cost of selling your used firearm in exchange for a new one. Went from a Gen 4 G23, to a Gen 5 G45 MOS today, finally got my approval after a 24 hour NICS delay, and let me tell you, best Glock I’ve owned and shot ever!! Wow! Glock has somehow improved Perfection.
Does it shoot smoother than the 23? I prefer the 23 over the 19 even tho it’s .40

I have enjoyed my G45, pairs functionally well with a Trigicon RM01 red dot and Olight Baldr S 1600 lumen tac light and green laser. I did have to add, mag release, slide stop and release extensions due to mild arthritis, oh and also a Chambermax backplate mounted slide release, a great addition for anyone, wish I could attach pics
what is the current "respective" availability and price difference between these three models?
45. No question. 43x mos and 45 mos are my two favorite and I think the best of all worlds

I have the 19,19x and G45 and I have to say my favorite is the G45 because you basically get the full frame size like the 17 and 19x and just prefer to carry a black hand gun over the 19x coyote color.

First time owner here. I rented and shot several HKs, berettas and Glocks. Although I really Liked the look/feel of some Of them, I noticed that I tend to put more shots on target with specific gun. Should my decision to buy be based on which gun I was able to place most shots in target or buy the gun that I like the feel/look of and target acquisition and accuracy will come with practice? Thanks!

very gud detailed explanation. easy to understand. never had a Blok, but understand their overall value(VW of handguns) It works, works well, and when you need it. I'm starting to mellow for a 45( model, gotcha! I was awake!)

Great video, I just bought a Glock 19 Gen 5. My question is when did the 19 Gen 5 come out and at what point did they start putting the front slide serrations on them? Mine has the front serrations, just curious. I absolutely love the gun and I was lucky enough to get it as a blue label!. Thanks so much.

I also have the Gen 5 19 with the front serrations! That's why I was a little confused mine brand new out of the box and does not have the little cut out on the mag. Which is fine because I don't think I would like it. I will be getting the 45 because just having the extra length is an amazing fit for my hand I tried it the other day I own the Glock 19x and I have 219s Gen 5 I wish I had the 45s but I will get one perfect gun for concealed carry.

Yes the version u see here are the original first releases of the Glock 19 Gen 5. Yours is the latest version henceforth the front serrations…
Man this is tough. I had almost decided on a Gen 3 19, but I'm a lefty, so the ambi slide stop/release on these models is very enticing. I think the 45 is in the lead.
Trust me when I say the Gen 5 19 is the best gun I’ve ever carried.

All gen 5 glocks have a true 1913 rail slot. I was shocked to find this out. I have 4 gen 5 guns to verify this with my streamlight lights.

Would have been helpful if you would have over laid 1 on top of the other to compare sizes.
The 19X would have been a lot better if the left the thumb safety on. Would have made it totally distinct from the rest of the line. There was no reason to take it off

Dude the 19x and 45 are really good feeling shooting. Get 1 you won't regret it. Most likely become a favorite

got the 19x because glock are only making a certain amount of them. i have HUGE hands and even though the 19 fits like a 🥊 when i shot the 19x for the 1st time...fell in love!! i’m not even a glock guy🤣 gotta deal as well..19x plus tlr7a streamlight $800..pretty sure some glock guy will buy it for at least $1000 when glock stops making them!!!
