Thank you very much for your review!! I have been using an AT2020USB+ for almost three years, and now I think it´s the moment to change to Podmic (or procaster) + El Gato XLR because of it´s easy to plug and use and it will reject more non desired noises than my At2020USB (condenser usb). Thank you!

Hey I'm thinking of getting the Wave Link XLR soon, I currently use the Scarlett Solo and a cloudlifter to boost the mic and not sure if I missed it but were you also using a booster or was that just the podmic straight into the xlr? Thanks for the great video!
@@darthbuzzkill You probably already have it - the reason why the Elgato Wave XLR is good is because it provides up to 75db of clean gain, whereas the Podmic only needs about 50dbish (depending on what level you are wanting to record at) Other interfaces can only provide 40-60db of gain, which is why they need the cloudlifter or equivalent, because when you max out the interface, you get a lot of interference. It was the reason I got the Elgato too - it sits around 60-70% for me and I get no hissing.
Now that you have used it for awhile have you changed or are you happy with your purchase I am getting ready to buy a whole setup for my youtube channel?
Appreciate that. In case you're interested, here's the new set-up I'm using. Sennheiser MKE 600 running into a Rode Streamer X (which also is a capture card). Links if you want to look at those (affiliate): Mic: amzn.to/3SztXHz Interface: amzn.to/48dxFwf
Sometimes a USB mic has a slight delay where audio and video are out of sync. Did you do any adjustment and resyncing in this video? I like the mute indicator. Really cool.
Good question. Best I can tell the gain was around 60. Only way to know is open the Wave app and see what numbers correspond with the lights around the knob.
Hi, I have a question! I just recently purchased this mic with the M-Audio XLR interface and many of my friends have told me I was sounding very soft and then at one point sounding like a chipmunk. Should I consider using the Wave XLR instead? I purchased a different audio interface to pair with the M-Audio XLR interface in order for it to work? This is my first time using an XLR as I was coming from a USB.
I don't know anything about the M-Audio interface so can't say for sure. I know mine sounds great but that's also because the mic is a solid mic. I prefer an XLR in this set-up over a USB since you should never get any audio lag which you can get sometimes with streaming apps. Having said that though, I find USB mics to be great too, I just use mine with my cameras. Hope that helps.
@@KevinKolbe Thank you so much for letting me know! I actually am using the Rode Pod Mic and my friends initially told me I sounded very low on Discord and they had trouble hearing me and then I sounded like a chipmunk. I had to crank the gain ALL the way up for them to hear me.
@@NintendoNerdKim it could be your audio interface. I have my level on the Elgato Wave XLR set to over half. Can't say for sure since it's not a number based but guessing around 55-60% volume.
Hey there! Loved the video! Had a quick question: Did you use any extra equipment for your Rode Podmic? I had bought the exact same setup, Wave XLR + Podmic, but when I plug the Podmic in- it only picks up a hissing sound at max. I've tested it with my Neewer Condenser Mic, which works like a charm. Just wanted to see if there was something I was missing, or if anyone else had this issue before exchanging. Thanks!
Thanks for your diligent reply! I actually went about and grabbed another Podmic: 'Lo and behold, the second one worked. Looks like my first was just faulty. :)
As great as this sounds, I’m hearing quite a bit of static noise from the interface. Is this normal? Through this video and personally owning it and hearing it myself
Hmmm...I don't hear the static you mention. I do think I had the volume a tad too high when I did that video. Since then have tweaked it some and never have any sound issues.
@@KevinKolbe Hmm I see, thank you for your feedback. Are you using any sort of noise suppression of any kind to remove the lower sounding background noise?
I don't do any audio processing while recording but when editing I use the AMAZING voice isolation feature in Final Cut Pro. Here's a video I did with several examples: ua-cam.com/video/PJSM510Jyjo/v-deo.html
@@KevinKolbe Thank you for your feedback, this is extremely helpful! For some reason when I use Geforce Experience Overlay to save clips of gaming or something I can hear static noise in my recordings, but when I test it on the scarlett solo I don't hear it at all. I have used 3 Elgato Wave interfaces, they all have the exact same result. So it can't be my particular unit either
