I listen to a ton of podcasts. My tops are The Daily, The Congressional Dish podcast, Total Soccer Show, The Cooligans, DC Sniper, Keto for Normies, 1865(wow!) and Wicked Games : American Elections.
Hey, great video, but you definitely need a pop filter with his mic, it's almost painful with studio grade headphones. Aaaaand you levels are all over the place :) Also for those interested with the podmic you need to be very careful with the proximity effect, if you notice his sound changes even when he moves a few cm/inch from the mic, you need to be consistent as the podmic is less forgiving than other more expensove options. 03:14 vs 04:37 for example cheers :)
Yeah the video looks great but the audio quality is really suffering. A pop filter would help a lot. Getting the levels set right, the processing set right, would go a long way.
Think media is the place to be I just started following up there content and now I'm growing my channel and have started doing my vlogs on how to grow your UA-cam channel
I have the Rodecaster Pro and it's a must buy. But a lot of youtubers and podcasters on youtube videos also use some of Rode's low end mikes like the Rode Mic. If you watch them on a laptop or tablet they sound great, but if you watch it on your big screen TV with surround sound, or a better set of speakers on your computer the Plosives are horrible. It's not just your videos its all the youtubers that use the same low end Rode mics. The Rode mic sounds great except for the plosives on a good system. I love the way you cover the subjects that I'm interested in, I think your videos are great.
Just hit my one year Anniversary of Consistently Podcasting and I am loving it!! It’s called “Let’s Talk About It!” (A safe place for Healthy Conversation from a Christian Perspective). I recently purchased two Rode Pod Mics as I’ve been getting my wife on it more and I like em. I also use the Zoom H6 to record but this is Amazing! I may do this! And my current favorite Podcast is “Battle Ready” by Aaron and Erwin McManus
We moved over to the Rodecaster Pro a few months ago and the improvement was obvious and immediate...I am not crazy about the Rode Podmic...but it is absolutely better than the Snowball, etc. I love your content. md
This is awesome Sean! I’ve got the rodecaster, a pod mic and an sm7b for my setup with the cloud lifter for the Shure mic. My video podcast will be launching on May 29th! Been recording about 6 interviews to get ahead and will have 8 in the can when we start up. It’s called, the Local Worship Project, bringing your area connection, tools and training in all things worship. If you go to my personal channel I’m chatting on right now, you can see the imperfect progression as we’ve been learning by hitting record. Thanks for all the value brother!
Love the setup and vision Casey! Check out this videos for some strategy ideas that could be helpful ua-cam.com/video/SfHK0dxSa2w/v-deo.html Appreciate you! God Bless.
I got one of these for my wife and I. We got both the Podcaster Pro and the PodMic. The system is great. Sounds awesome and is fairly simple to use. My favorite feature is the ability to connect to laptops and phones via bluetooth. Connecting is quick and sounds great.
YES! Podcasts so important, have already loaded mine using IOS Apps, surprised how easy it is! Now just loaded my first vid on UA-cam as well, got myself 12 subscribers- Now to 100! Thanks guys!
I'm beginning a podcast this week, I'm using almost all the same gear, although I ordered it before watching this. Looks like a clean setup, I like your results! Stoked to create my own
I am actually starting one for my work. I am working as an Equal Opportunity Advisor, I make sure people within my unit are treated with dignity and respect as well the work climate. So my topics may include diversity and Inclusion, racism in the workplace, sexism in the military and other type of of topics. I cant wait to get started.
Thank you for this video. Every UA-cam video i watch makes me feel like I’ve made a great investment buying the rodecaster and the rode mics. I bought a bundle deal. $1300. 4 mics. Headphones. Rodecaster, mic stands, and XLR cords to record. I can’t wait for my equipment to get here. I listen to Amanda seales podcast (small doses) and i like Clint coley podcast as well.
The woman at 3:00 sounds so much better due to her applying better mic technique. No pops and no breathing. I’d recommend a small front address popfilter (re320 style etc on eBay if you don’t want to buy something expensive). Little visual impact and it helps with pops, and also helps you keep a little distance to the mic. I think having a higher mounted mic also helps you not breathe into the mic, that’s probably why many radio stations use arms or similar, but with a popfilter keeping you half an inch from the mic that’s usually good enough to not get breath into the mic.
Have just released a Podcast this week called Two Blokes and a Dog Gaming. Using this setup with a second cheapo condenser mic. Not too sure if there’s $120 difference but you do get way more background noise off the cheaper one vs the PodMic.
SM58 is LEGENDARY. Literally. Every Club, every Venue EVERY place I've ever been has those, even if its just a back up to their A mic, I own several SM48s, basically the same mic but cheaper.
Hello Think Media. I purchased a Rode Procaster, Shure MV7 mic and a set of Audio-Technica head phones to do a podcast or at least start to record some audio. I plan to incorporate that into my work as a Land Specialist Real Estate Agent for Whitetail Properties Real Estate. I have been a subscriber to the channel for some time now and have pretty much narrowed down my searches to your content. Everything I need, I have found. So nice work. Right now I am considering a podcast or a Vlogcast called "The American Land Man" I have been on YT for a year posting episodes almost weekly. Going ok, grows really slow. My thought was to start to add some podcast interviews with guys who Buy-Manage-Sell American land. Trying to piece all the process together and just hit record!
There is so much value in your videos. I watch them while keeping notes!! I have just started my own UA-cam channel and I had no idea about gears, lighting systems and how to grow in general I wanted to tell a big thank you!! I have only 70 subscribers but I think with your videos I can reach much more and much better quality. Thanks
Hi Sean, which service is better to use? Anchor? Simplecast? Etc? Which one do you recommend which is the least disruptive and least content pouching? Thanks
After looking at the Rodecaster and the Zoom L-8, I made the jump to the L-8. It has some extra features that the Rodecaster did not have. One was a $399.00 cost over the $599.00. The portability of hooking up my 26800 mHp power brick to this and not having to worry about electrical hookup. I am looking at getting some Rode Pod Mics.
Love the Rodecaster Pro and the Podmic! We use the same set up for another project I work on. It's clear, crisp and picks up very little ambient noise.
I saw videos of people saying if you use a podmic with the rodecaster pro you must get yourself the cloudlifter mic amp. I think it's because the podmic has to be almost at the max in volume to catch your voice well without being too close. I'd like to know if the cloud mic amp is worth buying, does it also gives you more crisp sound or just more volume?
I just received my Rodecaster Pro and Rode NT2-A microphone here in Japan. I look forward to dropping the new podcast this weekend using this new gear.
Your videos have helped me so much for my channel and podcast. I’ve used this Rodecaster Pro for several months now and love it. You guys are the first source I go to for info. If possible I would like to see a video of your settings for the Rodecaster and the mics more in detail. Have a good one Sean!
Just starting watching your videos. Great stuff. Keep the info coming. My friends and I have started a podcast, We are loving it. Every single one is a learning experience. We already have the Rodecaster and are amazed with what it is capable of. Your video is a perfect example of that. thanks for making it easy to understand.
Thanks for the video! This is definately something I need to pick up to go with my new Shure SM7B that under got delivered a couple days ago. Went with the shure over the podmic because the podmic sounds a bit punchy and the plosives stand out a bit in this video. I hate having to edit my P words most of the time, but so far the Shure shields it well. Love all the "post processing" features on here while you record. Possibly less post editing will have to be done on our parts.
DJ Skandalous. Gonna ask the same question that everyone asks about the Shure SM7B. What audio interface are you using. Are you using a cloud lifter. Not sure why Think Media is not replying to any of these comments? I am a Musician. I am looking at the Focusrite Clarrett with my Shure SM7B plus some Shure SM57 mics. I am also looking at either (just undecided) the RodeCaster Pro or the Zoom LiveTrak L-8 to make and take phone calls and the use of the sound pads. Too bad Zoom or Rode or another company does not make a separate box to house just the mix minus capabilities, and sound pads, with the ability to make and take phone calls only as I do not need the board and channel use of the Rodecaster or the Zoom L-8.
@Jeremy Horvatin Agreed! The SM7B comes with a pop filter in it's natural configuration. People use the PodMic without it cause it looks cool. I have a Procaster that I never use without the pop filter, and it sounds great. SM7B is a fantastic mic, but I agree that there are lots of things not addressed here.
I love podcasts, they are so helpful during my commute, walk around the city, and just doing errands. I do love reading books to get the message but it's so much easier to listen to the podcast. I used spotify's podcast function and found it easy, has anyone else tried it?
great video! I opted for a different mic and can't wait to get started. Our podcast is going to be a commentary on society from a reformed christian layman perspective. You need a pop filter. the plosives are very pronounced; I have no headphones in and hearing loss.
Me and my mate were talking about starting a gaming podcast for fun 😀 so thank you so much for the advice and tips 😀😀 keep helping all us small creators 😀
This is the best review and guide for the rodecaster Pro. Two question I've been trying to get answered: First, can each headphone (whether using one or all four at the same time) listen on both channels or just left or right side? and second, can each preamp be set for using or not using passive (48v) power? Thank you!
You mentioned distributing your podcast via Google, iTune etc. Can you do a video on how to upload and distribute podcasts? Thank so far for your outstanding tips
Great video...I have the Podmic and Rodecaster on backorder and waiting patiently...ok...not so patiently...lol...for them to arrive. CAN'T WAIT! I will say that I've been using the Blue Yeti for years and although it is a condensor mic, you can actually change the pickup pattern of the mic to mimic dynamic mics and prevent sound from being recorded from the sides and back, eliminating alot of the echo, etc.
Thank you for the video. As a new beginner do you recommend or what's your suggestion for someone who is starting out having their mic in the video for live streaming.
I started a podcast this month have been motovlogging for years I am looking forward to integrating it into my professional business photography and film making. As well as help my clients do the same. I got 2 of the Rode podmic and I am using with the Zoom h6 and a ipad pro 12.9 Sony A73 and a few gopros for over head video.
I really don't listen to many podcasts. My wife has a podcast called mrsgeetalk on Anchor and Instagram and other socials. It's a motivational talk podcast that focuses on mental health. We are also converting her podcast into youtube videos. I'm looking into updating the equipment so that she can have a better sound and presentation. So this video is great, thank you!
Hey man, great video! I agree with the need for a pop filter. The internal one on the pod mic is not sufficient. Check out The Enthusiasm Project/ Tom Buck 's channel for a great video on how to improve the Podmic with a cheap foam pop filter.
LOL. After using rack effects, solutions like this are much easier and give superior results. My 3 rack compressors are gathering dust while solutions like this that consolidate the dozens of knobs and faders into a handful or two produce better results for me - quicker. I had a massive problem with clipping using the multiple rack devices, even though no meter anywhere was peaking. The only thing I noticed that was lost was the ability to pull a signal out of the middle of the chain. TC-Helicon also makes a similar unit and I expect Zoom (the people that make the sound boxes, not the teleconferencing solution) to enter the market next - then Roland etc - then Behringer - then all the overseas knockoffs. Aphex in a product like this is certainly going to raise some eyebrows and expect BBE to make a comeback after essentially being dormant for years. It's essentially a new product for a new market catalyzed by the social distancing. PS: Love your channel. You are one of four that I picked up for pandemic binging. Probably going to go into withdrawal once the streets open back up.
Love all the info from Think Media! That being said, Sean (who we know from previous videos has an excellent speaking voice) is just not being reproduced well. Surprising because that new Rode mic model is excellent with great bang for the buck. But I think the aural exciter setting he chose is cutting all the warm, pleasant "oomph"- low mids and bass- in his voice. The end result sounds very cheap and pocket transistor radio -like- not surprising because cheap pocket radios (being 59 years old I remember these!) has no bass at all. Better for him to use that EQ option with presets he showed us, fiddle around with it some more to better compliment his baritone male vocal frequency range. AWESOME product review guys very specific and in depth which is what we are all looking for when considering spending real money to solve our media problems! So many "fan boy" tech videos out there but always go (and buy from their links they deserve it!) Think Media for the real scuttlebutt!
Can you use the RODECaster to output audio to your camera to add quality audio to your video of the podcast and if not what would be the best way to accomplish this goal? By the wAy thank you think media crew for the platform and all it offers because the simplicity of the information offered is priceless and you are helping a 50 year old guy become fluid in the art of building content. 👏🏾🙏🏾

Thanks very good video as always.
I listen to Joe Rogan... but I invite you guys to listen to mine, it's called "Of Course China"... and we use the exact same setup (x 3 mics)
Think Media and What's Neat This Week on model railroading.

I see what you mean, kept lowering the volume then increasing. Yikes, all over the place. Lol
Which mic would you recommend that is more forgiving of the proximity effect?
Very true. The Podmic needs a pop filter. I do love it though, especially for the price!
Think Media will not acknowledge this great tip.

it sound really good but the plosives are driving me crazy. maybe a pop filter or a foam screen will help. definitely thinking of buying this mic
This is awesome Sean!

Started a podcast with my friends about 4 and a half years ago ( The UnCelebz Podcast ) and we're still learning the ins and outs of podcasting
YES! Podcasts so important, have already loaded mine using IOS Apps, surprised how easy it is! Now just loaded my first vid on UA-cam as well, got myself 12 subscribers- Now to 100! Thanks guys!
Amazing progress, Adam. Keep going!
How about a pop filter for all those PPPPPPP's. Great video new podcast on its way;)
Exactamente 😂
It comes with a pluasal build in so there is no need for a pop filter though it is not omnidirectional
I'm beginning a podcast this week, I'm using almost all the same gear, although I ordered it before watching this. Looks like a clean setup, I like your results! Stoked to create my own

I am starting and podcast in the new year. I don't have any equipment yet, watching your video to learn where to begin on a budget.

I don't know if am inexperienced but I find this sound crystal clear.
Thanks for tips on cheaper options.
Great vid!!! New on UA-cam and find this channel very helpful. One day I hope to be as influencial
Gaffa 247 it’s so helpful to us new creators
It really is we all chasing the dream
It's time to upgrade my gear from livestream into recording podcast. Can't wait for my rode caster pro pair with my Shure SM7B.
I recently purchased the Rodecaster Pro along with Procaster mics and everything needed to start my podcast. I can't wait to get it setup and running.
This video couldn’t have come at a better time! Thank you so much for sharing your setup because I am considering.
Happy to help!
Thanks
Thank you Think Media. I am with zero knowledge zero experience but am interested to have own podcast. Well, today would be my baby step taken.
Will this work with a 2013 MacBook Pro
This channel is so empowering
The sound on this video had too much pop to continue to listen too
Hi Sean, which service is better to use? Anchor? Simplecast? Etc? Which one do you recommend which is the least disruptive and least content pouching? Thanks
I have a condenser mic and you’re 100% right, they’re very very VERY sensitive and pick up everything! I actually heard a gnat fart, 3 rooms away!
"You could use a pop filter if you want to, but we found we don't really needed that" 😂
Laugh of the day.. Thank you
After looking at the Rodecaster and the Zoom L-8, I made the jump to the L-8. It has some extra features that the Rodecaster did not have. One was a $399.00 cost over the $599.00. OMG! I started my podcast! I love it so much!
Pumped for .
Great video , does the rode ds1 fit any mic , for example blue yeti?
Good video guys🔥🔥🔥 Your on Fire as always
Love the Rodecaster Pro and the Podmic! We use the same set up for another project I work on. It's clear, crisp and picks up very little ambient noise.
Im a filipino youtuber, i hope i can speak so clear like you. Your video always simple yet very informative. Thank you
This is interesting Sean. I am so stoked to start getting this ball rolling even more.
It’s well worth buying
I just received my Rodecaster Pro and Rode NT2-A microphone here in Japan. I look forward to dropping the new podcast this weekend using this new gear.
What's better: PodMic or Procaster? Did you make a video comparing the two?
Anyone know if after you record your podcast could you import to garage band and edit ? thanks think media fans!
Yes you can, it's exported out as a WAV or MP3 so it's easily imported into Garageband, Audition or other editing apps
I want a mixing board to use for video recording to record the audio directly onto the video’s audio track. Will this do it?
HI, can i connect a reflex to this mixer?
Thank you
Hey Sean is the 2020 gear guide out because I put my name and email in and I haven’t got it yet
Thank you for all you do at think media. I am inspired by your channel.
Babs Faseesin they are so helpful 😀

While I appreciate Sean's enthusiasm in this video, his mic technique leaves a lot to be desired. That's why the plosives are so bad.
Much much too much compression. Sounds like he has a cold
Just got this board and will primarily be using it for my radio show. I weight have known you weren’t in a sound treated room. You sound great.
I plan to start a podcast in the next month. I will be focusing on health and wellness.
I find myself coming back to your channel over and over again always great advice Great content
Yes. I listen. I am also beginning a new cast.
I have this setup. I love it!
Was it worth it?
@@anakinskywalker5900 Its unbalanced, you dont match 99$ mic with 700$ xlr interface.
Rodecaster Pro FTW!!
Thanks, for the video!
BUDGET OPTIONS: 15:35
I purchased a bundle from B&H a few days ago. I should get it tomorrow. I am excited and nervous.
bought the rode caster pro off of your amazon link! thank you!
Would you recommend the PodMic over the ZOOM ZDM-1?
I love podcasts, they are so helpful during my commute, walk around the city, and just doing errands. I do love reading books to get the message but it's so much easier to listen to the podcast. I used spotify's podcast function and found it easy, has anyone else tried it?

The audio on this Rhode mic is so awesome 😎
This is the best review and guide for the rodecaster Pro. Shots Fired photography & business podcast! 😍
What camera did you use for recording and when you hit the record button is it for audio only or video as well
K im behind on this technology... but is this considered to be an audio interface like the Motu M2?
your Audio is pretty good, i like it
When I want an honest review about almost any Gadget I watch your channel .
I bought mine today .
Thanks for the video. Is there any way to work more on the compressor and the noise gate?
I really don't listen to many podcasts. My wife has a podcast called mrsgeetalk on Anchor and Instagram and other socials. It's a motivational talk podcast that focuses on mental health. We are also converting her podcast into youtube videos. I'm looking into updating the equipment so that she can have a better sound and presentation. So this video is great, thank you!
Remeber to get a pop filter too! they are great in eliminating the Ph and Bh sounds
Hey man, great video! I agree with the need for a pop filter. The internal one on the pod mic is not sufficient. Check out The Enthusiasm Project/ Tom Buck 's channel for a great video on how to improve the Podmic with a cheap foam pop filter.
Wow nice setup. Love your channel
How did you hook up the rodecaster to speakers at the conference?
I just purchased this today and excited to explore the features. Working on my live streaming real talk show.
This video is looking so pro Sean!
I have this setup. Just expanded it to 4 Podmics to start a mobile podcast business.

MACRONO get me to 100
Can you use the RODECaster to output audio to your camera to add quality audio to your video of the podcast and if not what would be the best way to accomplish this goal? By the wAy thank you think media crew for the platform and all it offers because the simplicity of the information offered is priceless and you are helping a 50 year old guy become fluid in the art of building content. 👏🏾🙏🏾
