However, that's why he's the biggest hip hop artist in the game still. He didn't carve out a niche in hip hop, he tried to cover multiple bases which led to sub par music but worldwide recognition. Serious question. Would you guys have rather drake took a hiatus since 2018 and dropped and album 5 years later like Kendrick or coke did. Like honestly took the time to deliver a strong 13-15 song album.
ye no problem. Listen to a song off scorpion, clb or any of his projects since 2018 and you couldn't tell which album its from if youre not a drake fan
This is absolutely what Drake should have been doing from the jump. Grinding out an album a year like theyre MCU movies has ruined Drake's creativity and his ability to grow as a person so that he can put any new perspectives into his music.
You can merge a newer style or flow and still make it your own. Drake seems to make music thats popular at the moment, and copy the sound with the same subject matter. It hasnt evolved. I look to Drake to innovate not follow the trends. Being something new to the table with substance and quality. Quality as in lyrically. Also Drake clearly added the end of thay Cole record to compete better and it still didnt surpass Coles verse. Drake need to focus on his son and his investments for two years and come back refreshed.
My issue with it is twofold: firstly, if your main MO is to bite new or local sounds, what am I actually getting from you that I cant get from the source. And two, (and this is connected) when a huge artist decides to go and step on the sounds of young new artists and keep them in his orbit, all he's doing is robbing them of their chance to popularise their own vision, instead he's gonna be the one to do it and they have to ride his coattails. I think this is why so many artists who vocally support Drake initially, grow to hate him.
my main problem with the album (i love it btw) is that so many songs go on these long tangents towards the end. Some of them hit but some of them are so unnecessary like All the parties and rich baby daddy. Members only too
this and honestly nevermind were drake's worst projects. My issues with the album: a) The album name.... like bruh he hyped the album up to be a collection of songs that represent the dudes and the doglike nature with women and etc. but the album was a complete 180 and is filled with a bunch of r&b and fillers. b) The cover is pretty wack. c) The songs were lazy, he said few times that many songs were recently done. But he had 1 yr to make it... Shows us the album was a half assed project. Tells me Drake got lazy af and don't got that hunger no more. I only like 3 songs tbh. i gave it 3 whole listens... but can't no more. It's a solid 5/10 and tbh now it seems as the Weeknd is the king of R&B from Toronto. TBH Weeknd's albums are more consistent and have better hits versus Drake. Drake fell hard after Her Loss. and Her lss was a sold 7.5 for me.
cuz the other 17 are meh at best but the 3 i like have replay value. So i account for the feelings, replay value @@parkinglotmosh4360 Those 3 have strong replay value which is why they weigh more in my eyes.
I agree her loss and FATD should have switched names and it would have been perfect. But look drake was marketing this as bringing the old drake back the whole time and the old drake is rnb. Secondly drake covers have never been anything special IYRTITL had the simplest cover ever and was arguably one of his best album. And lastly their are more than 3 good songs on this Virginia Beach, fear of height, FPS, slime you out, tried our best, 8am in charlotte, all the parties
I don’t hate the album but its in the bottom of the barrel when it comes to his discography imo. Drake is aging backwards. The thing is I think Drake gave us two mature like albums with Take Care and NWTS if you really listen to some of the topics on those records especially NWTS. Its like he got Benjamin Button disease on his albums
There are a lot of people Drake's age that would be great to work with and sound fresh! Lupe Fiasco Kid Cudi Black Thought Andre 3000 Frank Ocean (instead of just sampling Wiseman) Pharrell Collabing with older artists does NOT equal sounding like a dated Nas album. Do not agree with that take Shawn, he SHOULD work and make music that mirrors people his age. Drake on Pharrell production alone would be great
facts. which is annoying because he has the resources at his disposal to make it happen & i’m certain these names you mentioned would bring their A-game to the table. just a shame Drake chooses not to push himself to do much better than what we all know he’s capable of. instead, he prefers to drop mid just to trend.
Scary hours 3 saved the whole project imo bc there were 6-7 good songs without it but then scary hours 3 gave it like that extra 4 good songs that made it feel like a more solid 10-11 track album to me which made it an actual body of work
Drake is weird because we know dude is a brand with a dozen of writers in it, budget big af, and we still get that bloated uninspired bullshit everytime 😂
3:30 The song is named Virginia Beach as it refers to his performance with Lil Wayne at the amphitheater in 2014, reflecting on his past events with the present. I guess he also is being playful with the title in terms of Pusha T.
There are some differences Drake STILL is Top1/2 artist in the world (Taylor aside) And also, there is not ONE artist that can replace Drake in hip hop When Eminem was falling... Kanye and Wayne took the spot
Last dominant Drake hook: “God’s Plan.” And that’s prolly the only song I liked on that album. And itv was played so much that year I probably couldn’t listen if I wanted
Drake definitely was responding to the personal jabs; comments on his age in relation to the people/women he seemingly chooses to be around and him having BBL surgery could be considered overstepping.
He made the album for Yachty, I truly believe they’re connection come from they’re corny nature and no one was feeling it …that’s what brought them together
I have a theory that, Drake is grinding these albums to finish his deal and to finish breaking all the records. As he mentioned, “I’m one away from Michael nigga, beat it.” I’m hoping he’s just doing these recent drops to complete his $500 million universal deal, that way he can focus on Legacy oriented albums again.
Yes , the deal was for 5 albums and he got 4 of them out the way in under 2 years. I guess he’s going to drop the 5th album once he really starts to live again. In between those 4 album he hasn’t gotten much time to live and have expierences and live life .
Nas doesn't have to rap like the late 90s early 00's because he's been out rapping 95 % of Ninjas today. Drake streams way more than Cole, Kendrick and Nas but the Off Season, KD/Magic series are better than what Drakes been doing.
My father is a huge Joe Budden fan and through him I have found out that he is just a very passionate person so he seems to always be talking super extreme also people never really watch everything he says just small clips that if you watched the whole thing would have better context( also Joe is actually a huge Drake supporter)
32:50 the more I unpack that Drake post, the more butthurt he actually sounds. Joe, mainstream appeal notwithstanding, has a dedicated fanbase that actually helped bolster his current media career and he arguably has more "Classic" works out as an underground artist than Drake does in the mainstream. No media personality or publication got payola 2 know how many "Mood Muzik" projects Joe put out, but ppl know dem shlts. Ppl may not think he was the best rapper in Slaughterhouse but they also never say he didn't belong there. Joe has comparable longevity and more respect amongst the actual hip hop community than Drake dreams of and that's why he shootin' like that. It's the sour grapes fallacy being played out where Drake dismisses everything about Joe that he *ACTUALLY* wanted at one point. Drake's come 2 far 2 be bitter that ppl want him 2 live up 2 the potential he presented early on, even if "the streets" didn't fvck wit it back then. Unless he just ain't got it now, which is understandable.
Joe budden criticizing drake on his ho he sleeps with kills me cause. Joe should be the last person talking about that that’s where I think he got disrespectful.
34:31 Drake can't relate 2 doing something u love, being respected 4 it *AND* living a life of wealth without compromising ur integrity. 4 a lot of us artist types, a dope "mid" career enjoying our work on our own terms and living comfortably well is more than enuff 2 be happy. Drake sittin' on top of the mountain lonely and mad ppl can look up his kilt and see how much shrinkage he's suffering from up there.
I'd say on the Thinking about hooks when you think about Drake comment. I think Drake's most popular songs rely on catchy hooks. Headlines, Marvin's Room, Where going home,Jumpman,Nice for What, Forever,Nonstop, the Motto, etc

Should of been skits just to give us the option to skip. Should of made the album only 15-18 tracks. Then that stretch when he was singing was not good, he needs to switch up that singing flow, he’s been doing that singing thing way too long to have not gotten better and more comfortable to play with his voice, maybe use some type of live instruments or something just a different approach. The second to last song should of also been the last song. (Its easy to say all this ish when the albums already done but🤷♂️) Ima have to give the album a 6ish. Drake also doesn’t have that thing about him to where its like he’s progressing or about to do something different. Like how kanye you always get this sense that something ground breaking is coming or something different or a re invention of some thing is about to happen. Drake its just like yea ima rap a little bit, bite some styles from my features, and then sing a lil bit. People keep saying they miss the old drake but the thing is to me he has been sounding the same for the past 10 years, yall dont need the old drake, yall have out grown this guy contentiously giving u the same thing, we need a new drake. But he doesn’t have the soul, hes black but it just doesn’t seem like it, I cant really relate to him rapping. Its like im listening to jack harlow like a industry plant and i can just feel it
All this Drake behavior doesn’t just back up all the ghost writing ✍️ accusations? Maybe he looks like he’s giving the bare minimum because his creativity is at a bare minimum? Maybe he’s always jumping on waves because…..see creativity clause ⤴️
I fw you bro but you be cutting Drake too much slack, and I'm a massive drake fan, and as such I'm beginning to get disappointed with each album drop bro it sucks
first 10 mins is the exact critique he needs to hear to improve hes lost in peoples sound like hes an amatauer artist again experimenting and failing in the underground. he needs to start making more cohesive projects. still drop projects often but with more cohesion.
I think what Joe was saying was overall for all the music it still feels like the music isn’t matching his name far as weight. I think streaming and music releasing adds to it though. We also have heard rappers near his age musically try things and overall he’s been safe outside of Honestly Nvmd
That’s not what Joe meant when he said stay away from the 25 year old, he meant, stop complaining about 25 year olds in your songs if you still going to fuck with them, at that point shit is creepy.
mark my words today, the next Kendrick will be more like DAMN and it will be his best. Kendrick's best is not behind him he is a true artist that means he has real periods and phases, like Picasso's blue, rose, African, and cubist periods. Not like Drake wave hopping.
31:35 Drake is like the Call of Duty of Rap. That’s a perfect way to describe it. Some may be good, some aren’t as good, but Drake isn’t falling off anytime soon, or is a bad artist for it.
Agree with DLDT as his best project in recent years, but disagree that he is best when he's not taking himself seriously. That's how we get "Way 2 Sexy"
But why do we have to judge an artist personal life?? I dont give a fuck if Drake is fucking 20yrs hoes.... thats's his life I care about DRAKE's music and not Aubrey's life
The Drake run has gone too long. We got a lot of rappers but no one is really trying to take that mainstream spot Drake has. If this was the early 2000s there would be 10 other rappers just as big in the mainstream. He wouldn’t dare drop a lazy project or say some lazy bars.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AUBREY GRAHAM HAS LEFT THE BUILDING BECAUSE HE COULDN'T TAKE THE PRESSURES OF THE MUSIC BUSINESS ANYMORE THAN WHAT WE'D HAVE IS A CLONE WITH NO SOUL
I think streaming definitely hurts drakes formula. He has to appeal to so many fans and yk modern fans don’t want a focused album. They want a playlist. I could feel this same frustration from the time Views came out, but now i just accept that we won’t get the old drake back
Joe is not wrong at all critizing Drake's album, because that shit is mid and everybody has opinions BUT... I dont think he can judge Drake's personal life, like the comments he made abou dating 20yrs girls... I mean, we are talking about Drake (artist) not Aubrey (person)

Your time has past your opinion is irrelevant
you're sharp for this analysis
you’re so mad
Serious question. Would you guys have rather drake took a hiatus since 2018 and dropped and album 5 years later like Kendrick or coke did. Like honestly took the time to deliver a strong 13-15 song album.
Eh Drake is more of a 3 year artist in my point of view, Drake can’t leave the game for too long cause he’s more of a pop star than he is a rapper.
ye no problem. Listen to a song off scorpion, clb or any of his projects since 2018 and you couldn't tell which album its from if youre not a drake fan
I would prefer that, especially since his last few albums there are only like 1-2 songs I would even listen to more than once
This is absolutely what Drake should have been doing from the jump. Grinding out an album a year like theyre MCU movies has ruined Drake's creativity and his ability to grow as a person so that he can put any new perspectives into his music.
If it wasn’t that deep Drake would have never responded he know this shit is not for his core fans
Smoking Copium
Hold up. Cap on the play, NAS’s pen ain’t the same as when he came out???? It’s better. This nigga tripping
Nas writing been great. The last 6 albums prove this.
KD3 especially. That's on par with his 90's shit, fr. And I got NO nostalgia towards his 90's albums, cuz I was born in '99 hahaha.
😂😂😂 u look at him as a innovator is tha hilarious part
@twongreen9968 at this point, it is laughable, huh ? Smh
Members only too
members only is fire just a bit corny unfortunately
The girl that was ranting on 'Calling For You' too...bro just too much
this and honestly nevermind were drake's worst projects.
My issues with the album:
a) The album name.... like bruh he hyped the album up to be a collection of songs that represent the dudes and the doglike nature with women and etc. but the album was a complete 180 and is filled with a bunch of r&b and fillers.
b) The cover is pretty wack.
c) The songs were lazy, he said few times that many songs were recently done. But he had 1 yr to make it... Shows us the album was a half assed project. Tells me Drake got lazy af and don't got that hunger no more.
I only like 3 songs tbh. i gave it 3 whole listens... but can't no more. It's a solid 5/10
and tbh now it seems as the Weeknd is the king of R&B from Toronto.
TBH Weeknd's albums are more consistent and have better hits versus Drake.
Drake fell hard after Her Loss. and Her lss was a sold 7.5 for me.
how you gona go "i like 3 songs" on an album w like 20 and give it a 5/10
@@parkinglotmosh4360meat riding lmao tryna figure out that percentage too💀
cuz the other 17 are meh at best but the 3 i like have replay value. So i account for the feelings, replay value
@@parkinglotmosh4360
Those 3 have strong replay value which is why they weigh more in my eyes.
@@parkinglotmosh4360 if the album has 20 5/10 songs and 3 7/10 songs then it averages out around 5.
Lupe Fiasco
Kid Cudi
Black Thought
Andre 3000
Frank Ocean (instead of just sampling Wiseman)
Pharrell
Collabing with older artists does NOT equal sounding like a dated Nas album.
Once i understood for all the dogs meant b*tchss , not the boys, i relistened to this album, now i get it way more plus understsnd fhe lyrics now too
trash
Budden saying the same thing I been saying about Drake for years
Scary hours 3 saved the whole project imo bc there were 6-7 good songs without it but then scary hours 3 gave it like that extra 4 good songs that made it feel like a more solid 10-11 track album to me which made it an actual body of work
Joe dated a younger woman however his mentality wasn’t young. Drake’s a reflection of his mindset. That was the call out.
Drake is just going through what eminem went through
But the thing is, Drake's getting away with it lol
There are some differences
Drake STILL is Top1/2 artist in the world (Taylor aside)
And also, there is not ONE artist that can replace Drake in hip hop
When Eminem was falling... Kanye and Wayne took the spot
Last dominant Drake hook: “God’s Plan.” And that’s prolly the only song I liked on that album. And itv was played so much that year I probably couldn’t listen if I wanted
If you looking for great hooks and hits listen to pop music not drake lol
He definitely he had better hooks on that album but I think that wishing wishing thing he had going really connected with people
laugh now cry later 🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
his best songs don’t even got hooks
Drake definitely was responding to the personal jabs; comments on his age in relation to the people/women he seemingly chooses to be around and him having BBL surgery could be considered overstepping.
Joe budden is only 5 years older than drake and he’s calling him old💀
Joe is old too lol.
Per usual, Drake album just keeps getting better every listen
Is this the new “going platinum with no features” meme?
@@VinnieDangerousat least that shit was true
Misspelled worse
@@user-wx8mi1pd6g😂
Tracks 1-7, 9-11, 13-15…. he was cooking on tour idk what they on lol
He made the album for Yachty, I truly believe they’re connection come from they’re corny nature and no one was feeling it …that’s what brought them together
I have a theory that, Drake is grinding these albums to finish his deal and to finish breaking all the records. As he mentioned, “I’m one away from Michael nigga, beat it.” I’m hoping he’s just doing these recent drops to complete his $500 million universal deal, that way he can focus on Legacy oriented albums again.
he's stat patting. can't be mad at that. my cousin referred to him recently as the lebron james of hip hop.
Yes , the deal was for 5 albums and he got 4 of them out the way in under 2 years. I guess he’s going to drop the 5th album once he really starts to live again. In between those 4 album he hasn’t gotten much time to live and have expierences and live life .
This release goes to straight to the doghouse 🔥
Nas doesn't have to rap like the late 90s early 00's because he's been out rapping 95 % of Ninjas today. Drake streams way more than Cole, Kendrick and Nas but the Off Season, KD/Magic series are better than what Drakes been doing.
"And we gon be alright if we put drake on every hook" -Lil Wayne
He definitely was a hook guy back in the day
42:31 BBL DRIZZY 🗣️🔥🔥
Joe Budden saying not to fuck with young women is CRAZY 😂😂
The album is trash drake did not bring it drakes fell off drake can’t hear the truth
My father is a huge Joe Budden fan and through him I have found out that he is just a very passionate person so he seems to always be talking super extreme also people never really watch everything he says just small clips that if you watched the whole thing would have better context( also Joe is actually a huge Drake supporter)
Drake the type of 🥷 to have that post in the drafts for a decade just waiting on Joe to say somethin
🎯🎯🎯
Shawn yes we do want and whole album to sound like 8 am in charlotte yes we do
32:50 the more I unpack that Drake post, the more butthurt he actually sounds.
FearHeights-Day-First Person
Drew of Picasso-Members-Pluto Do
fire runs on the album
J.COLE has made his best and it was a mixtape Friday Night Lights he will never out do that
Facts
2014 Forest Hills was his peak
No Role Modelz and Wet Dreams made him worldwide famous
Is equivalent to what Hotline Bling and One Dance represents to Drake
@@joaopedrobaldo3316 I like 2014 Forest Hill but it's not better than friday night lights that mixtape was perfect and most of those orignal songs were for his debut album but jay z wouldn't put him out so he put them on mixtape
Looking back, I get why Joe Budden and them look at it as a sport because in their sphere there what it would be considered as. It makes sense why they would it take seriously
Jack Harlow is somehow becoming a better Drake than drake
You crazy bruh
Bro just admit you hate drake man it’s okay cuz this is a ridiculous statement
Ok now these is going to far now (in a bad way)
Jack Harlow is not good and I like jack Harlow
you said some real shit.
our favorite musicians best work are behind them and if we get anything new and it happens to be a hit mashallah but other than that im grateful for my favorite artist body of work and theirs new to come. but the 7 graders are performing at a 4th grade level so the music to come will be less poetic 😔
“HOW OLD IS DRAKES BABY MOM??” 😭😭
so For All The Dogs actually meant taking shots at whoever he wanted, not giving a good album that old fans were hungry for
I fw you bro but you be cutting Drake too much slack, and I'm a massive drake fan, and as such I'm beginning to get disappointed with each album drop bro it sucks
first 10 mins is the exact critique he needs to hear to improve hes lost in peoples sound like hes an amatauer artist again experimenting and failing in the underground. he needs to start making more cohesive projects. still drop projects often but with more cohesion.
if you don’t wanna rap album by Drake stop calling him the best rapper of all time
Please STOP
Joe budden isn’t lying
But he loves future and when jay drops something bad it’s “i won’t give my honest opinion” not this
It is CRAZY watching this after the beef
42:32 holy shit
Pusha T's Story of Adidon is Legendary. Legends do not die, so we do not forget. I still listen to it 😊
I think what Joe was saying was overall for all the music it still feels like the music isn’t matching his name far as weight. I think streaming and music releasing adds to it though. We also have heard rappers near his age musically try things and overall he’s been safe outside of Honestly Nvmd
That’s not what Joe meant when he said stay away from the 25 year old, he meant, stop complaining about 25 year olds in your songs if you still going to fuck with them, at that point shit is creepy.
why at 25 you are a fully developed grown up
Two of my favorite UA-cam channels in the same video?? This about to be a good one
Search and Rescue was a fun hook
If you go back and listen to all of their collabs. Drake🐐 has always bodied Cole but can’t even lie, Cole got him this time 🔥
You were wrong about Kung Fu having already made his best, but I think Cole has, tbh
Expound please 🙏
I think Dot is going to take a year to get the club popping, and Cole is going to get with it or get lost. We want Cole over Drake look 😂
If u wanna hear a mature drake look up a song called vital it’s prolly one of his best song ever
mark my words today, the next Kendrick will be more like DAMN and it will be his best. Kendrick's best is not behind him he is a true artist that means he has real periods and phases, like Picasso's blue, rose, African, and cubist periods. Not like Drake wave hopping.
No cap tho . DLDT felt like the last solo album that was no skips and it was throw away songs
No Yachty Slander!
Drake should take 2-3 years off and work on his 444 type shit
Drake still has not responded to joe’s last diss from years ago😂
Drake is the Call of Duty of music
31:35 Drake is like the Call of Duty of Rap. That’s a perfect way to describe it. Some may be good, some aren’t as good, but Drake isn’t falling off anytime soon, or is a bad artist for it.
i mean, a bad artist seems like a good descrption
The rarer the flo and cadence the better the song will sound that’s y he so good with his hooks
Sean tweaking. That drake song with yeat go hard
HERE AFTER THE DRAKE POST LOL
Most of what Drake said about Joe can be flipped right back at him and that's the crazy part.
Agree with DLDT as his best project in recent years, but disagree that he is best when he's not taking himself seriously. That's how we get "Way 2 Sexy"
Probably one of the only based fan
People act like you gotta keep feeding them or then they hate you or not be grateful for what they got
I think Joe Buddens review was just a personal shot ....thats why hes trashing the music
calling drake the apple, call of cuty, 2k, of rap is the best summation of drake all time 🎯
Old Drake… different writers
The R&B on FATD is up there with any drake album ever. No wonder the boom bap lyrical miracle old heads hate this album
if the R&B part is the only part where drake going to give effort, just make a R&B album

I care about DRAKE's music and not Aubrey's life
Every artist has their issues in life, they are humans
Bieber, Eminem, Chris Brown, Britney....etc
@joaopedrobaldo3316 thanks for stating the obvious.
If you're reading this is a mixtape
I could feel this same frustration from the time Views came out, but now i just accept that we won’t get the old drake back
Joe is not wrong at all critizing Drake's album, because that shit is mid and everybody has opinions
BUT... I dont think he can judge Drake's personal life, like the comments he made abou dating 20yrs girls... I mean, we are talking about Drake (artist) not Aubrey (person)
