Imagine dissing Kendrick for "taking 3, 4, 5 years to drop an album" just to drop some more mid that has your own fans going "Nigga PLEASE take a break from dropping". Now all of a sudden he got stomach issues and he's gonna take a break from music. It's almost like Kendrick, Cole, and Ye taking their time to make music instead of just putting shit out actually works well.
Went back to Kendrick last album and it’s crazy that the lowest of the Kendrick discography is so fire compared to what drake been dropping for the last 5 years
@@maka2697mr morale I thought was amazing and think I probably prefer it as an overall album piece to damn which personally for me hasnt aged aswell as other Kendrick projects but I totally get how people didn’t love it as an album listening experience due to a lot of the subject matter and the songs mainly not having much formula, commercial sound and structures and focusing on self diagnoses rather than promoting replay-ability for the songs. However everything about that album was so much more passionate then anything on this album and even if you don’t love mr morale subjectively I think everyone can acknowledge it is quality. Kendrick knew he was going to make a polarising album because of the subject matter included and the difference is drake is making a polarising album because it’s passionless. That’s the major problem

This was really his chance to go conceptual with 'BARK Radio'. A radio station where dedications are made to all the dogs (men, women, hood dudes, lover boys, 'all' the dogs would've been his vast listenership, the same way radio stations have vast listernerships), it would've addressed his struggle to make music that caters to his masses. Hosted by Snoop, he could do intros, outros, call-ins, little skits (max 3/4), 13-15 tracks. He would've made a thoughtful album that feels like an experience, something with ideas, introspection and quirks that prove he's not just into the data dump streaming algorithm, but he can make a cohesive body of work that we refer back to when his career is done. But for some reason him and his team don't have that gear in them like TDE or Dreamville. It's a waste of an album.
Yeah I thought by the title it would appeal to the boys, but after a few days, I see its like how you mentioned. But in the music I don't feel like he's trying to make music for all the dogs, just random ass Drake stories. Lol like Who tf is Jason?
Drake is surrounded by Yes men. There aren't people like Shawn Cee or even us in his circle because if we were there he wouldn't like us because you aren't allowed to say anything negative about drakes music. Even if its a song you dont like. in those rooms with Drake, it goes something along the lines of "bro plays song, waits for people in the room to go crazy. If you dont go crazy on the song then the rest of the room attacks you and dissects your opinion in a manner that makes your opinion irrelevant because drake is bigger than you ever will be so shut up, this is the album and its dope. if you dont like it get out. that is the OVO mentality. hot line bling almost didnt drop because the real ones on his team told him the record was ass. that became one of his biggest hit. ever since then, you cannot say anything negative when reviewing his songs he does not trust you or care what you say. you can say its not your favorite. Any other feedback isnt accepted from anybody other than drake, 40 maybe noel.
@@omargetem1672you are the biggest cornball of all time. No questions asked. You DO NOT know ANYONE from ovo. Get off of UA-cam Mr. Prophet and speak your truth to a wall.
Naw it probably would've been seen as him biting off Metro Boomin havin Morgan Freeman narrate 'Heroes & Villains'. Drake and Metro don't see eye to eye, so I don't think he'd wanna have anything to do with something that could be perceived as a Metro influence.
@@bariserejonadab5586it would’ve been cool ig but let’s be serious, what would Snoop talking for an extra 30 seconds each track do to help the overall bland and bloatedness of the album?
nah. It was another horrible take form an average drake hater lmao. Any other artist does something like that, it adds to the theme and concept of the album. Drake does it, it’s just “lazy”
It’s annoying when Drake releases songs like 8am in Charlotte especially since he used this song as a “snippet” I guess right before the album dropped which shows 1 he still got it and 2 he know it was the best song on the whole album and used it to set the standard before the album dropped. I say all that to say it’s annoying when every now and again you see that he still drops these gems along another 22 songs that was garbage
@@nickn4672 yeah they did have like two or three songs I actually liked outside of the song I mentioned. First person shooter, Virginia Beach, and idgaf (mainly for year tho). I was kinda of exaggerating tbh. But my point still stands on him still having potential and showing us that he does but falling flat on that potential when album time comes.
Drake is at a point where he’s alienating his OG fans to stay relevant with a younger audience. Can’t imagine a grown man in his upper 20s, 30s rocking to this. The sad part is the music industry is so trash now, there’s no rising superstar to push him artistically.
This was perfectly stated. OG fans slowly fading away, and not only that, but his current music isn’t as substantial as his old music that whatever fans he’s trying to attract now won’t last because it has no lasting power.
why dont yall get that drake can't do that og music, he's said it multiple times that he's not able to make music at that stature. Also why are yall acting like his latest albums weren't good?(ik im hella late just recently started watching shawn cee)
Bro..the best thing to come out of this album is the fact that Drake is finally taking a break lol like deadass And facts, Drake literally has the world at his fingertips, and hardly uses a pinky of that power and influence to create masterful music when he's clearly capable of doing it. That has to be the most frustrating thing as a fan of his.
That “old drake” & Shawn saying people want that feeling he used to give them way back is also something though he’s not possible of even doing.. people first listened to take care/NWTS when graduating , passed thier driving test , first love etc they want that great feeling again from 15 years ago whilst listening to his music.
But people were just praising 8 AM in Charlotte. Why? Cuz it’s genuinely a good song. Along with those projects you just mentioned. Take Care is phenomenal and NWTS is phenomenal. They get attached because of the memories connected to it AND because the music is good too. This album was ass. Just straight ass. People want Old Drake back because Old Drake was actually fire.
I completely agree with every opinion you had on this. Holy shit. Drakes disappointed the fuck out of me on this album. It’s crazy. He has everything and every style and every skill. He didn’t try at all and he tried to appeal to the new generation which has the worst music taste ever. This was really tough.
couldnt have said it better. when he used to drop an album u listen. this felt like him hopping on any shit drill beat and mashing an album together. He needs to work EXCLUSIVELY with 40 on the next one
Yup.. the moment I saw that the track listing was 23 songs I knew there was no way this was gonna be 1 of his better projects. I would've been happy with him just staying in his 'Her Loss' bag. It's the 1 album in recent years that actually seemed like it gave the fans something they could be content with. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I feel way too much Yachty influence on this and it ain't for the better.
Your rant at the end about Drake mentioning things as if we’re supposed to know what he’s talking about was hilariously true. We just want good music, man.
I really wish Drake would just make an entire album of him rapping like he's doing on "8am in Charlotte". It can be a 7 track EP for all I care. Just rap rap for at least 90% of the project and I'll be cool with that.
He said he could do that but wants to give different sounds consistently. Which I think is dumb af. Like he can RAP if he wants to but just refuses to.
@@mikesincere27 honestly I see where your coming, FATD doesn’t suit everybody’s taste considering how messy it can feel at times since it lasts for an hour, but I think it’s great that Shawn acknowledges some of FATD might grow on him in the future.

It's difficult to make great music when you've already reached the top of the game. Ambition is fueled by the lack of success, so once you make it to those mainstream heights that Drake has been living on for the past 5-6 years, there's not much ambition left in the tank. He's just playing the game on autopilot at this point, and resting on his past achievements.
Im convinced Drake dug into the vault & just compiled a good portion of this album on tour with a few new tracks & verses sprinkled in, About 4-5 stand-out tracks imo.
Heard that he's not going to make songs for a while. I'm honestly happy. No new stuff thanks. I'm very happy with the old stuff. At this point most of his new songs are wack
Regardless of whether you like the album or not, I feel that your thoughts are gonna be exactly what your thoughts on CLB was. Seems about the same amount of effort (or lack of effort). Long ass album where he feels the need to please as many people as possible. Yes there are some songs imma have in my rotation, but it definitely undelivered for 23 total songs, ESPECIALLY when we compare it to his best projects. Ngl he shoulda just called this album a CLB Part 2 He either gotta take a break from releasing a project every damn year or stop with the 20+ song albums. 14 songs would be a much better length
ngl, growing up with drake, the relationship toxicity was a vybe, but years later as we mature, the priorities are different now. It could just be that we just grew out of Drake's target audience. idk...
For the spanish cut, I don't get why it's considered wild for north Americans (not including Mexico) to make Latino, Caribbean, African, etc, music, but it's perfectly acceptable for those types of people to make rap, r&b, soul, funk, rock and all the types of music we made here in the US. They sound just as strange doing our stuff as we do doing there's.
It's not wild at all, speaking for myself, if done poorly I'd say the same if anyone not native to the culture of music they're emulating tried it. Americans have been recently calling out a lot of Korean musicians for this very reason as well.

That's exactly what I be thinking man, just what Shawn said there about Drake having the opportunity to make a more profound piece of work.
Went back to Kendrick last album and it’s crazy that the lowest of the Kendrick discography is so fire compared to what drake been dropping for the last 5 years
LET HIM COOK🔥🔥🔥
But Kendrick's album was *BORING* 🥱 he took 5 years just to give us only 3-4 bangers, that's it
@@grandmaster5183 it wasn’t intended to be a banger album though it’s was a self diagnosis of Kendrick’s life over the last 5 years. If you were expecting pop tracks then you are completely under valuing the album

Damn can u give me one just one hit song??? No! Stfu
I promise you, as a part of the younger audience, we also think his new stuff is awful

But people were just praising 8 AM in Charlotte. Why? Cuz it’s genuinely a good song. Along with those projects you just mentioned. Take Care is phenomenal and NWTS is phenomenal. Yup.. the moment I saw that the track listing was 23 songs I knew there was no way this was gonna be 1 of his better projects. I would've been happy with him just staying in his 'Her Loss' bag. It's the 1 album in recent years that actually seemed like it gave the fans something they could be content with. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I feel way too much Yachty influence on this and it ain't for the better.

I agree with you on the ep take, he could’ve easily just gave us like 5 maybe 7 of these songs and left it at that.

They sound just as strange doing our stuff as we do doing there's.
It's not wild at all, speaking for myself, if done poorly I'd say the same if anyone not native to the culture of music they're emulating tried it. Americans have been recently calling out a lot of Korean musicians for this very reason as well.
