I have had a pleco for about 6 years now. He/she?(how do you tell?) is approximately 17 1/2” long. He is a beautiful creature, I so enjoy simply watching him & my Fancy tail Guppys …. & I love showing my pleco off. I just recently moved & a friend moved my pleco out of a 5 gallon bucket I transported him in, into my 40 gallon aquarium…. My friend gently grasped pleco by the tail, gently talking to pleco….then pleco raised up and made a sound(of which I’ve never heard before!) as my friend slowly put him back in the aquarium tank. I was elated! Pleco sounded like a little dolphin! Another friend of mine videoed all this and I was so glad cuz I’ve watched it over & over again, it’s so cool! I was thinking about donating my pleco to a pet shop, zoo or aquarium center, because of all the work that goes into taking care of fish…. But, after watching your video and reading other comments, I’ve decided to keep my pleco and simply enjoy watching my “pleco/fish tv”!
I'm not necessarily trying to get mine to "grow up" but I do frequent water changes and noticed my Bristlenose pleco has double in size since I got it about a month ago! So all this information really explained the how and why 😅
My pleco is growing so fast cant wait to put him in the heated pond were making him in the yard. I have a male bristle nose full adult and he is in a tank with a baby common. Bristle nose will stay in the tank because hes only 6 inches but our common will be moving to the pond at about 8 inches (hes 2 inches now) so he can grow unrestricted! I went out today and got higher quality wafers!
Badass! Common Pleco get giant - so I'm super proud that you're building a pond 👌 Good fishkeeper material 🤙 How big are you going with your heated pond?
Great, i am just starting with L Series.. Received by L333 just about about an Inch and Getting soon L397 about 1.5" .. Suggestions in this video does make sense.. Let's see how it goes in my room 🙌🏻
I have two gold spot that I bought at the same time as the babies about 2 inches long one is now close to 5 inches and one is barely grown at all. They are in a 60 gallon tank and I am giving my friend one for her 75 gallon tank because I realize I cannot keep them together as adults in a 60 gallon tank? I’m thinking of giving her the bigger one but I’m wondering if the other one isn’t growing because of a health issue or some thing, I also feed the foods you mentioned in your video along with vegetables that they pretty much ignore. I have tons of rocks and driftwood and two or three caves they could each choose from so probably five or six in their total I have some live and some fake plants and they are in there with a group of polar parrot fish that don’t pay them any attention.
Great starting fish bro 👊 Good think about both of these is that your breeding tank can be the same as your grow out tank, so you save space. But he warned that if you keep peps & commons in the same tank, they’ll interbreed 😢
I keep one albino plecos with oscar, oscar likes hard water,is that ok?I separate the pleco into a smaller tank for growth.the fish is kept for aesthetic and cleaning up algae ,any tips
I got common pleco in 55 gal tank got some drift wood and another of hiding spots but notice they are not living long like 4 weeks water quality is spot on kept the lights low more often like 16 hours off and like 8 on any tips to get them to grow and survive
@The Aquarium Guy yea I have cichlids but they been staying away from each other and their is no damage on the plecos they have plenty of hiding spots. I was using green pleco wafers I bought from the pet store but nothing else they eat it all up I do feed them once a night.
I have African cichlids with plecos. I have tiger plecos and just addded zebras. The cichlids are all babies as well as the plecos I have a couple of small and big bristlenose. My tank is 4x2x4 is that enough floor space for the placid to thrive? I got a taller tank so the cichlids have more room aswell
I recently had recently been blessed with babies. How much do you feed the babies because I'm constantly having problems with nitrites. I'm afraid that I'm not feeding enough. I'm giving them Angels plus food. Spirulina sticks and Cucumber 1x week or zucchini. Vegatable disc's with 30% protein. Any suggestions ?
I'm sorry but I know that this is the wrong video to attach this question but I couldn't find your pleco video that I watched & followed your advice on.
I'm currently waiting for the angelfish pair to lay eggs and I am going to try to raise them myself. I believe I'm supposed to put their spawning cone into a jar with methylline blue and in distilled water , unsure if I should put jar inside the 10 gallon tank for heat to remain stable and when they become wiggling remove methylline blue and when free swimming I put them in the tank with brand new water and some of the parents tank water and add a seeded sponge filter . Is that correct? I only have a 10 gallon I can use. I've watched this video alot and believe that it's the closest thing I can do to your method. I had a 5 gallon but it's contaminated due to plants, so I can't use it currently. Sorry for so many questions. I think you for your videos for us dummies 😂
Is there any way I can get cherry shrimps you told that on your recent TikTok I don’t live close to you but I was wondering if I can get 5 of them I would love to breed them just let me know if you can or not ❤️
My pleco is growing really fast but is pooping a lot at the same time, I think it’s because I got it in a tall but narrow, I think imma need to change my tank
Most exotic Pleco like a higher current, but common bristlenose (super reds, blue eyed lemons etc) will thrive in any current 😊 hope this helps 5 months later 😂
@The Aquarium Guy 5 months later I have grown out a bunch of lemon and super reds. Recently I'm able to tell gender so I got lemon pairs in a breeding tank with fingers crossed 🤞
That’s really exciting! Constantly have zucchini in the tank. If you want them to reach maturity fast - that’s the top tip. I have just had 2 spawns of Blue Eyed Lemons, they’re about 3cm now, good luck 🤞
I was watching your tictoks and Heard you wanted to start doing less water changes you should check out MD fish tanks he has loads of low tec tanks and only dose 1 water change a year
@@Daluafishroom MD keeps a lot of lots and really small fish/shrimps. Bioload is really less and obviously it reduces wc frequency.. and plants can help a bit with absorbing those nitrogen wastes
Man you deserve a lot more subscribers, this content is gold. Thanks!

Wow, I've never heard a sound from them! We had our sailfin for over 20 years, and he grew to around 20 inches. They're awesome creatures.

Im growing out 9 l397's, 5 l66 and 5 superred longfins at the moment
I’m thinking to try and breed some bristlenose or peppermints but I want to grow out my albinos and common Plecos when I start

If they’re living 4 weeks then dying, there’s 100% something going wrong.
Do you have other fish that are living in the tank?
@The Aquarium Guy yea I have cichlids but they been staying away from each other and their is no damage on the plecos they have plenty of hiding spots. I was using green pleco wafers I bought from the pet store but nothing else they eat it all up I do feed them once a night.

Sounds like heaps of space, I’d love to see pics of this tank 🤙
Especially if you have Zebra’s in there
