I downloaded GunZ 2 earlier last year, the mechanics seemed good and I was excited to play, I logged in and literally NOONE was playing. It was a bummer because it seems like a great game. I hope the game revives, I’d love to get into it
people from gunz 1 were too busy bashing the game before they tried it because of sheep mentality, or played it for 5 mins and were like "omg no style" and bashed it too. now that the rights were sold off to masang soft. who just let it rot btw, a bunch of them came back and were like "oh, its not bad actually. Too little too late. not speaking about you specifically, it's just funny how similar your comment were to those who bashed it at first.

If the Devs understood why GunZ is successful, K Style would be the first thing you learn in the tutorial. It shows that the devs don't understand what made their game successful. It's like " we made the most powerful car ever but the wheels are made of wood" Also I would not recommend having a condescending tone towards the GunZ 1 player base.
I’ve been trying to get GunZ1 players to play this or even try they all refuse. Or they try say it’s too hard and then play GunZ1 and never touch again. I’ve always been a GunZ1 and 2 supporter
Gunz2's double half step doesn't seem to fire gun, the technique is used more of a speed boost for chasing and positioning unlike Gunz 1. In my opiniom, gun2 is more on a cat and mouse strategy game, while gunz1 is more on a face to face duel, I must say both are hard to play. Gunz3 can solve this by adding both mechanics then we can all die in peace. So basically there's still kstyle which is strong in midrange but weak in long range since shotgun's bullet scatter, then with a different weapon you can use gunz2's mechanics which we can make it strong for longer range with faster way to escape and position but it gets weaker in midrange since it's hard to aim without shotgun's scattering bullets. However, who tf would make gunz3 for us. 💀
On your first note, yes you're quite right that a lot of mechanics don't provide a lot of shooting in between. Particularly lower levels of play make it hard to weave in halfstep and shooting. I can safely say that with new found mechanics (just uploaded a vid on it) and already existing mechanics. You can already halfstep shoot halfstep shoot. Just there is time in between waiting for the right moment to make the shot. I'd say now MORE THAN EVER this game is more like GunZ 1.

Tho I don't think it's a problem if it can't shoot in between DBHS. I think it's great that you can speed up with it and hard enough to execute, it separates the levels between pro and intermediate player. Someone is recreating gunz1 in a modern graphics, and I'm wanna be sneaky to influence the dev to include gunz2's mechanics experimentally so both version can be played. Do you think, gunz2 would be playable with gunz1? Would there be advantage or disadvantage if both clashed? I'm thinking, to balance it, gunz2 would be the faster runner and climber for positioning and good at longer range, while gunz1 is midrange due to more patterns in dashing and shotgun. So gunz1 will be like chaser while gunz2 keeps the distance, since shotgun will be lack of damage in longer range, then when gunz1 loses ammo, gunz2 can either chase or harass them in range, but i'm not sure if gunz2 is actually played like positioning.
Yes a part of halfstep is making sure you're not doing the same movement while it can be easily predictable. With GunZ 2's Air DHS you can shoot in between each cycle. Of course I have my very own muscle memory and how I play the game. It could be different for the next person. I do know a lot about the original GunZ so I do know where you're getting at. But even so any distance works. This game is absolutely not a run away cat and mouse game which it could be if you played that way ig? But the skill comes in being able to kill anyone on sight you know? doesn't really matter where your opponent is there are many options to go for. The topic for combining both of the games is tough since its not easy to do. They use the same engine (different versions) which could allow to transfer to one game to the other but both games have very terrible code and hard to work with. It's always been a dream for GunZ players to play GunZ 1 in 2 but its just not easily accessible. Maybe in the future with the GunZ 2 private server and new updates coming it could be done. I wasn't implying that it can't be played mid range or melee, I was just thinking its strength is more on the positioning based on how the other class keeps running away and pillar hugging on videos i watched, or maybe it's due to the sniper weapon and spray, but yeah i think it has better aim on a little bit longer range than on mid range fight where everyone can move fast, since the bullets has narrower hits than shotgun. and i think the gun is what limits on most of the playstyle, since you can't spray in between dbhs, or it's at least pointless and just make the weapon weaker doing so. I don't think the dev i'm talking about is simply migrating the code tho. I'll try asking him. with modern techs and AI, maybe it's more achievable than before.

GunZ 2 is in a weird grey space where most GunZ the Duel players dont wanna play it because its not as mechnically intensive and fast as GunZ 2, so what type of audience is GunZ 2 trying to achieve? the only new players that ive seen enter the GunZ 1 space is people from fighting games and people from Arena shooters, and people that found the game through Tiktok where people displayed 30,000 hours worth of skill executing techniques / combos. GunZ 2 has potential if it would be possible to code or recode its engine to get back its Quirks , bugs and glitches like its Older brother counter part, then i think alot more players would be interested in it, since the only Core audience GunZ 2 has, its is Older players from GunZ 1.

You want actual criticism?? Allrighty then... First of all Gunz 2 is clunkier than gunz wich breaks the gameplay flow for me and makes it feel slower in comparison. Two you're forced into class specific weapons fuck that! Three although combo's exist in Gunz 2 they are not usefull since they break gameplay flow with quite alot of clunkyness and forced animations that lock you into stuff that cannot be cancelled, this slows down gameplay even further and is horrible when you're used to gunz 1. Four, balancing and levelup skills are a major issue in gunz 2 the skills available pretty much mean there's only a couple of classes that are usable and you're locked into a specific gameplay / weapons on top of that make it not fluid and fun to play around. Five, Campain was a mess in gunz 2 with sooo many bugs at release and balancing issues still to this day. Six, Map design and layout of maps in gunz 2 are even clunkier than gunz1 ever had getting stuck in random places, clipping issues, basic traversal issues and so much more. Seven, the devs behind gunz 2 did EVERYTHING to make it unplayable and not liked by their gunz1 community, no more k-style is a major reason so many people dropped this game after just a week or two and even if you sticked through it for longer the grind for levels, horrible cosmetic grind/paywalls, the clunk and optimalizations issues, and lastly the Devs reaction to it all made most people permanently uninstall the game.

We have the GunZ2 private server to compensate and injectors for any player to install to get max level and every item for even playing field. It's a lame alternative but just what maiet does to a game.

GunZ 2 is what happens when you dont listen to your Audience, they wanted to cashout from Normie Casuals and instead their game Flopped... not to mention the rampant pay2win both in GunZ and 2 that also helped the Killing of both games, the lack of an anti cheat and people scripting / macroing. the reality is that GunZ the Duel was never and will never be an Esports game as big as Counter Strike, the skill ceiling is just too big for new players (the same happened to arena shooters, such as Quake and Unreal tournament) to enter, thats why all new players stay inside of trainingrooms grinding techniques/combos for around 50/100 hours before even attempting to do Duels or TDM / FFA, wich even then they will most likely lose, GunZ is a game where you can only play GunZ and nothing else and grind till you eventually you can compete with these veterans that have amassed 10k/20k+ hours in it. Personally i prefer and enjoy that games like GunZ the Duel are for niche small audiences, the Normie Casuals will never get it and would only complain. another reality of this mess is that MAIET and its Developers never intended GunZ to be as this extremely mechnically intensive game, these combos and techniques were birthed out of Glitches / bugs, it was a complete accident, and a good accident to be quite frank, and that only showed that Normie Casuals could not compete with better players / veteran players, games like Quake, Unreal Tournament, GunZ and so on are not ment for Global audiences, its ment for a niche select Audience, not even Spectators could understand all of these moves and combos watching it in a Tourney.
