I remember spending weeks learning Buterflies, Double-Butterflies and Triple-Butterfly with my brother 10 years ago. Damn, this game brings back so many memories.
SAME BRO I used to bang some chill ass tracks while mind numbingly practicing triple butterfly. I gave up and said these dudes must be hacking this shit impossible. I was like 14 LOL
I never got the double or triple but that butterfly and kstyle.. I felt like a goddamn pro till I played in clan wars and got exposed. I quit the clan and just went back to normal attack and defense in the mansion. 😂
Yeah dudes, the game was too hard at the highest level, I could maybe do 1 tbf out of 20 tries LOL. But the public lobbies, the 1x1 matches, the custom challenges like IK, IF, IFS... that was my jam
THE EXACT SAME THING MAN my brother taught me everything I knew in that game very little I was like 6-8 but still learning how to animation cancel or butterfly I felt like a god
I remember struggling to do double, so I said fuck it and went double pistol butterfly route and play hit and run. I was relatively on par with my clan in 1 on 1s at the time, but in 4v4, I definitely didn't have enough presence.
Man, I used to play this game all the time in ijji, I was the noob and never learnt the "butterfly" coz my fingers can't handle all those rapid key movements but I still had a great time playing it casually.
Honestly I miss those days I couldnt go back today because I’d just get owned everytime.. back then being able to K-style/Butterfly was rare there was no shame in being a “ sprayer “ playing the game as it was originally designed to ..
It's genuinely heartwarming to see a game experience a second life nearly 18 years after its release all because dedicated fans decided to put in the time and effort to keep it alive
A second life? There's not even 1,000 total players still playing. I'd love to see some big content creators start sheding light on this game. Ive tried to get friends to play with me but they just laugh at me and tell me to play [insert new oversaturated game here]
This was the most competitive game I've ever played. I remember being a kid grinding hours just to upgrade my shitty machine guns to a shotgun cause the pros looked cool using them
The graphics alone gave me nostalgia of old compute cafe I saw this game before but I never knew the name I remember his tapping his key board like crazy
it sucks that we can't even explain how mechanically insane this game was. the number of buttons you press in 1 second, the number of hours you spent just practicing, etc. this game was my childhood and god damn was it so fucking fun
The way I describe it is like if you were playing a third person shooter that required the inputs of a fighting game, and it's as fast as quake, but also melee is fundamental, and you can fly off of walls.
If I were to describe it, imagine Dragon Ball Z. But instead of throwing hands and ki-blasts, its swords and guns. Because just like DBZ, the power ceiling is practically infinite.
@@Spearra wish I could find all the dudes from my old clan, we were some of the first to learn KStyle in the game played all the way up till ijji died. Played SoldierFront as one of KStyles main m4 players, and backup sniper to LadySniper..have you tried the new gunz he talks about in the video? I’m wondering if there’s tons of cheaters or if it’s worth getting back into
This game legit was my first true taste of competitive gaming. Watching people butterfly around made you want to learn, and watching someone absolutely destroy others gave you a sense of wanting. I miss those years, but might have to pick it back up.
first time you saw that shit, didn't you think people were hacking? I did. It was confusing because there was a lot of hackers, and some people were good enough to go toe to toe with the cheaters. I became one of those people at one point. But that flying in the air while using your sword shit just looked impossible to me. From frustration to elation.
@@nickmagrick7702 Absolutely. I miss those days of grinding and learning. Going from pure disbelief in how it's done to being able to do it and compete was an absolute rush that I have yet to capture again.
@@orbitalcasting I got a similar feeling from DFO. Really high skill cap in the PvP in that game, and gear is mostly equalized. Or at least it was when it was out for the first several years. I still wouldn't recommend playing because NEXON is a straight up criminal organization and they might just decide to ban your account and steal all your shit one day like they did to me and many others. Theres other decent competitive games out there, but they are few and far between.
If I had a large sum money I would invest it into buying the rights and reviving this game keeping all the mechanics and fixing the graphics, maps, bugs, etc. Basically executing it into a world famous game because let's be honest, can you imagine a GunZ esport? The mechanics in this game puts pretty much every game available right now in the dirt. Watching a GunZ esports would be INSANELY satisfying with all the different ways a player can move and execute. The skill cap in this game is limitless.
same applies for most dead or abused franchises, god knows I would love to buy up a while bunch of dead jrpg or fighting game rights and expand them(storywis) to hell and back like I'm trying to do my best arc sys impression.
@@blackhacker7689 I've been playing Warframe since release. It's not comparable to the mechanics in GunZ. Every mushroom and its daughter can bullet jump or wall-run in Warframe, because it's piss easy. Don't get me wrong, I love WF, but GunZ is on a complete different level when it comes to gameplay.
Yeah, I’ll agree to that. Two dead third person shooters were my go to: GunZ and Battlefield Heroes. Now I don’t play shooters… because I just want those two.
This game really taught me to push past my comfort levels and made me believe I could learn even seemingly impossible things if I didn't give up. Very heartwarming to see this video. Thank you.
from 2009 to early 2011 I was the US GM for GunZ. I worked out of an ijji subsidiary office in Irvine CA. I miss GunZ, honestly one of my favorite jobs I've ever had, the community is amazing and really accepting, running clan wars was so much fun having "Fight the GM" fridays was great. HOWEVER most (like 95%) of my job was forum moderation, player interaction and hacker banning. My typical day would consist of banning somewhere between 25 and 35 hackers. But getting to spend time with the community and watching people perfect quad-butterflys, or seeing people move from A-style (American style, aka using machine guns or auto pistols while butterflying) to K-style ( using shotguns while butterflying) or watching people learn their first or 2nd butterfly truly made that job and community special.
@@Akshonesports I humbly urge you to look into the korean f2p shooter called S4League that released in 2007. It's a similar story of a game that suffered the same kind of fate in many ways. And to this day it still has a very loyal core-playerbase that isn't willing to quit this unique shooter based on a concept that has never been done before and never again, working on their own solutions to keep this gem of gaming alive, whether that may be via private servers or various spiritual successors in developement by passionate long time fans, hoping to keep their favorite game concept alive. The game is a third person shooter with anime graphics that didn't seem to have aged at all since 2007 (+ incredible Soundtrack) and it will be hard to bring across in this bubble of text, but it REALLY is unlike any other shooter, while actually sharing some similarities to GunZ in a way. It's decorated with complex tech, consisting of animation cancels and the like, that help you maneuver around the map in the most stylish and slippery fashion possible, to go hand in hand with the main game mode called *TouchDown,* which is the very thing that makes S4 so special. In *TouchDown* you play a symmetrical map against an opposing team, using your movement tech and sick ass weapons to grab the "ball" (a cute creature named "fumbi") in the middle of the map and reach the goal in the enemy's base to score a touchdown. Though the moment you grab the ball your stamina bar that fuels many (but not all) movement mechanics stops regenerating, meaning you'll either have to play fast and smart to outmaneuver the enemies that try to make you drop the ball by killing you, or you'll have to deal with being limited in movement, but still outplay the enemies, either by teamwork or big brain action. Your character is allowed to carry 3 weapons, that you'll be able to swap between as much as you like within combat. And each weapon has some kind of implication for your mobility, such as additional movement tech, the lack of it and how fast you run while wielding it. That means that you'll have to decide on a set of weapons that fits your playstyle, making a healthy compromise on what you want and which characteristics and implications of a weapon you can live without. Thus many people choose to specialize their equipment either around defending one's own goal, rushing towards the ball and sprinting towards the goal, or as an option inbetween. The game modes are either played with only melee weapons allowed, or with guns allowed as a ruleset. The latter ruleset allows all kinds of weapons and additionally you're allowed to carry an ability with you (wings, a grappling-hook, a deployable wall, etc...), though these abilities aren't as dominant within the gameplay of S4 as you'd may think from the sound of it. The gameplay is mainly driven by what you're able to do via the standard movement mechanics (sprinting, walljumps, dodging & airdodging) and what you're able to do thanks to the weapons you're using in terms of tech (there is a lot of discovered tech), leading to much variation in possible playstyles and movement / combat options. The meta is obviously highly different depending on the ruleset (melee or with guns), melee only for example will give you the chance to outskill and outplay your opponents via your cracked out movement alone, in a way that wouldn't be possible with guns. Since if they don't manage to touch you, they won't be able to kill you and retake the ball. If you're staying out of reach, you're staying out of reach, while you'd be shot at with guns when out of melee reach. In melee only, even if you're out of stamina, leaving you with way less options, you'll always have the ability to clutch it out by playing it smarter. With guns allowed & out of stamina, your movement is slowed down and you're an easier target, regardless of how good your movement is without stamina tech, you just won't be able to dodge bullets as easily anymore. There's a bigger urgency to rush towards the goal while you still have stamina and thus are capable of dodging the bullets, upon picking up the ball. Or you're slowly progressing with your team, dying strategically close to the enemy goal, where your teammates pick it up and score. Of course there's a lot more to it than I can convey via this text though. The one thing I didn't really touch upon though is how crazy exciting and adrenaline & dopamine fueling these matches were, there is nothing that ever could bring back the feeling me and many others get when playing S4League. Especially learning to use tech correctly to master jumps and movement options that instantly raise your level of ability as a player was so nice. With many maneuvers serving as significant shortcuts that will lead to your death if executed incorrectly ever so slightly, depending on the difficulty of the maneuver you're going for. And the level design is phenomenal, there's a map that is akin to de_dust2 in a way due to how iconic it is, called Station-2 and it will cause heavy nostalgia trips to any S4 Player you show it to, since that's the map that's been played 80 % of the time due to how crazy good and fun it is. It really is a massive could-have-been eSports. Heck, if you think about it, it already was an eSports by design. The lore of the game literally defined that S4League the game is a futuristic eSports of some sort, that people in the future played via some high tech virtual reality device. Touchdown is as S4 as it gets and was the center of many many clanwars back in the day and tournaments, though you didn't even need that format, since the game's presentation made sure to make every game feel like you were playing grand finals at internationals. These days everyone plays on a private server called "Xero" without p2w bullshit, and better leadership than aeria games offered, while also now supporting 144 hz and other quality of life improvements. If you're interested in learning more about this legendary masterpiece that found it's decline due to bad business practices, I suggest visiting the Xero Discord. There will be plenty of passionate people (especially amongst the leadership) that I'm sure are willing to talk about everything surrounding S4 and the interesting history behind Xero, which will be the place to be for S4 Players going forward. They're amazing. There also is a very VERY informative video, that went semi-viral 2 years ago, called _"What happened to S4 League (My Favorite Childhood's Game)"_ by someone named Dhoomie, he made more videos than that since and was a passionate long time S4League player since alll the way back. You'll possibly be able to get in touch with him as well. And by all means please watch _"S4 league [Zeta]"_ it is a montage from 2010, so there are probably way better players out there these days, but it shows what S4League was back in the day, what so many fell in love with. [Zeta] is a name that many S4 Players will still recognize, it's ridiculous that that nametag left that kind of footprint. I'd really love to see a video on this game, the story of S4 really deserves to be retold once more and with Xero still going strong, it'd be awesome to see people that are interested by the concept jump into the game that many are still playing to this day. And with the enhancements Xero offers I'd argue there never was a better time to get into S4League than now or back when it first released, because you just had to be there :)
Yes. Yes. I love you. THANK you for making a video on this game. This was my entire middle-school gaming life. I remember being taught the basics of K-Style by a guy who barely spoke English and neither killed me nor let me kill him until I learned what he was trying to show me. Crazy memories.
I spent like 4 years playing Gunz (first IGunz then ijji, then private servers) and it's wild to see a video at almost 800k views about it. There were so many interesting aspects of the game whether it's K Style, D Style, Gladiator games, duels, clan wars, etc. Thanks for making this, the nostalgia wave was wild!
Hey, I'm Korean. Gunz was my childhood memory, and every skills that was shown in this video was done by everyone (including elementary school students). LOL We thought it was a natural thing to do. I hope you guys could cover another Korean fps called "Sudden Attack" which I believe is still one of the most ridiculous way to play fps to this day.
The last game I played with my best friend before he died was this game ; ; There was so much depth to this game that we played it every chance we could and I always just choose swords
@@Kiba114 you mean noob kids played cod. Compared to gunz, I could play cod blindfolded. When I played cod I was solo killing everyone cause they were so slow compared to aiming in gunz that had to be done in lightening speed
Not to mention the goblin mode, which was super fun in of itself. Going into dungeons was AWESOME and was a great way to take a break from the competitive scene while still having fun and honing your skills.
Few people remember , but original guns actually featured Story Mode , that featured fully fledged boss battles. Something like GunZ Second Duel. And it unlike repetitive goblin dungeons, it featured great variety in mobs and bosses. Like army men, robots, and so on.
I remember the Magicians clan. Whenever we saw one of them in our pub matches, we just gave up because they would be slaughtering the entire lobby. They were insane.
@@epicwarding yooo I remember B2B, I used to play on a clan called ZeroGravity I think we fought with you a couple of times and got completely obliterated
This game was very popular in Brasil, there was this publisher Level Up Games and all of their games were crazy popular among high schoolers back in my day, Ragnarok Online, Combat Arms, Maple Story and The Duel, during classes it was all we talked about.
This game was a big part of my life as a kid. I remember playing casually then suddenly see someone doing the "butterfly" I was amazed and shock at the same time, I still remember this feel, I quickly searched the internet on how to do it. and started practicing.
i remember playing this in my teens. godamn it was an intense game. Trying to learn butterfly and slash-dashing to fly around everywhere was such a pain and a joy.
Man that was so nostalgic, i 'd spent like almost a full year to learn every thing i need just to be competitive on the game. It was one of the most joyfull experience i ever had
I loved this game when I was young!! I remember learning to triple butterfly and half step and being so hyped lol. Man this music is nostalgic as fuck.
@@titoepfx4272 it’s really fucking weird I agree. I can manage it if I rebound block to right mouse click, but then my movement gets all fucked up. I can’t do it with Block on shift.
lol now that you typed it i remember the words half step lol....FUCKING 07, 08 & 09 SUMMER WAS THE SHIT!!!!Not gonna lie i used to be scared of Abyss & Magician clan when i see them go up in the 'searching for opponents' lol
I remember I didn't think I could do it. Until one day I could, and then I was actually better than the majority of the people out there. It was a pretty huge rush. I loved doing that slide dodge into the butterfly to gain speed, into a wall and then doing the like sideways flip thing in the air with the combo to jump back and fourth between the buildings and just never touching the ground in most maps. Felt like a god damn anime super hero.
i remember spending weeks at a time trying to learn butterfly/d-butterfly and d-style tech, and the music is so, so, so memorable. this game will always have a special place in my heart for sure
This gives me so much nostalgia. This game still has the highest skill ceiling of any other game I have played so far, and it's so odd to think that Maiet's (the game's developer) incompetente made both this game great and awful at the same time. Great because it made k-style possible, basically it was just a style based on animation cancelling everything + some other stuff, and awful because they were just terrible at fixing the game's problems, and the netcode is basically the worst I have seen, there was no lag compensation. The connection was P2P and you had to guess where your opponent would be based on his latency to you, and then shoot there, which was super hard considering how fast paced this game was. I watched an interview with a Level Up Games employee (the game's publisher in Brazil), and he really highlighted how much of a crap developer Maiet was.
I finally understood why I was so bad at this game back in the day; I didn't knew about the animation cancel combos and key input combination. I just... shot and sliced people.
I feel you, I was too young and amazed with the basic wall-running and somersault moves that I never really cared about the more advanced moves lmao. After seeing this I finally understand why I get wrecked in public lobbies by players who are more advanced and those who are spending actual money 😂
you really had to know somebody who would sit down and teach you kstyle on arena lmao this video overstates how prevalent k style was. There was a massive portion of the population just playing gunz like a normal game, which also spawned its own variant, e style.
I was playing aware of kstyle, butterfly etc.and they wreck face but I have slow hands so I never tried despite clanmates want to teach me. Still tho, as sprayer with 2 rifles and 7(9?) grenades, jumprolling to wazoo, dropping nades like mines, I still manage to contribute, piss off enemies and most importantly have fun(made friends thru the game). I thank Matrix for this game 😆
I still remember getting into a lobby and someone who could barely speak English helping me to learn butterfly. We spent *HOURS* so I could just learn it. It took me weeks to even get it down, but that first day is one of my favorite gaming memories.
I just remember feeling cool using the knife to hang on walls when right clicking and always trying my best to have all those colored indicators above you at the same time.
I never played this game and probably never will, because I'm really bad at fast pacing games, but seeing how people are still so passionate and invested on it, makes me hope for the best for this community. May you guys make this game big and have fun playing for many years to come.
A similar third person shooter from korea that was bought by an EU company was S4 League. You got to cover that as well, it was pretty much next thing to GunZ from our childhood. Two games were my favorite. Thanks for posting this!
@@KeksDieb As a Korean 2000's kid, I remember both of these games and S4 league came out later than gunZ. S4 league is more anime styled version of gunZ
From my first game dodge rolling with my default SMG's to spending countless months in the Town map mastering Monk Style, I don't think my fingers will ever forget. Muscle memory is engrained. Could play it after a decade right now and k style like I never left. Forgot about that overhang on the building in Town that you would practice Bf on.
Dude, it was more than that. That game was FILLED with potential. There was a PVE mode that was a blast to play, since you move so fast, you can weave between dozens of creatures, from all kinds of directions. But Maya was a really poor developer, relatively small studio that ditched the game early rather fleshing out the many different facets of the game, or make the movement system of the game more accessible to new players so it has more mass appeal.
I would believe this would be one of the greatest esport. It is so heavy reliant on mechanics. I used to play this so much during my childhood. I got to like level 50 something and was in the Lost Clan. I'm surprised the video didn't cover Monk-Style. But hey. IYKYK.
All they would have to do really is take the source code, keep the control bindings on it, keep the rankings, and just slap a new coat of paint with graphics and animations. Then it would explode on the eSport scene and Twitch.
@@jasongibson1225 Exactly they don't even need the title Gunz any Indie company that can perfectly replicate the gameplay and use a more modern game engine for graphics plus continued developer support like new maps being added and more skins and it will sell like hot cakes.
Ah man, I remember reaching the level cap in this and then giving up soon after when the feeling of progress and accomplishment faded. It was never as much fun as when I was a noob and so was everyone else. But I loved the recklessness, aesthetics and balls to the walls learning curve - the game deserved far, far more than the developers gave it. A proper sequel, even.
Cool video man, I had a few friends who always talked about/loved Gunz but nevefr so much as looked at it, this was a great video, sparked a bit of nostalgia about people i hadn't thought about in many many years!
True story. I peaked around rank 60 in the world at the very prime of this game. There was a Police in the game called “BloodThirst2”. Ijji, gave him a unique jacket called the “Bug Coat” for being the “loyal snitch” from reporting so many hackers/exploiters. Thereby, he actually managed to get 1,000s banned from the game (bare in mind, there were only a few thousand online per day). As time passed half the community was banned from the game because of him.
S4 League felt like a spiritual successor to this game. If a bit casualized, it had the same gripes and positives as GunZ, with the benefit (or detriment to some) of an active developer.
You nailed it. Played Gunz first and then tried S4 League at one point and simply loved it. The graphical jump was insane back then. Im so hyped for Vampire Bloodhunt now, because it has most of the stuff we love about these games.
What most developers fail to realize is that we players want a low entry but high skill ceiling games the low entry is for the masses to get into while the high skill ceiling is for the try hards and those who wants to go pro. Gunz had both if the developers stuck with their original design philosophy and kept all of those animation cancelling on their second game they would have skyrocketed into an esports giant already the same level as Riot instead they failed to realize the Gold they have in their hands and just reverted it into a generic 3rd person shooter. What we need now is an Indie company who can realize the potential Gunz have make a new IP and give it the same gameplay as Gunz and slap a new art style and graphics on it and success will follow.
oh my god i remember spending countless of hours in net cafe on this game just to master it and show it off to my friend, and even opts to tone down the graphic so much so it make your opponent easier to track, god dang this brings back so many fond memories... And oh by the way, after the game closes we found a replacement game which is almost as technical as Gunz, It's called S4 League, it's a 3rd person shooter game just like GunZ and control are almost the same and the moveset is interuptable and exploitable to make you move faster too, that game has closed too but me and my friends still plays on it's private server Xero
I remember playing this game when I was 12. I loved the very fast pacing and all the people flying around. You literally cant slow down since slowing down turns you into an easy target. The F2p players always stick to a certain strategy where they would find the right timing to knock down opponents with a dagger and its basically a sure death once knockdown since it doesnt matter what gun anyone use
What I like about Gunz is that it captures, or kinda, the things I want in a game. The character design and uniforms kinda dope, the techniques and martial arts is a chef's kiss (if I say it in context correctly), the maps is vastly unique and beautifully aesthetic, and the music kinda hits hard you know. That's why I wanna play Gunz 2 but no people really play it.
Exploiting unintended mechanics to make the skill ceiling sky high? Just like Super Smash Bros. Melee! I love it when players can make games better with new tech!
Played this a lot. There was an "Against monsters" mode as well where you beat cool bosses in the end and you could do it with friends. Nothing else like it out there. Wish you showed the NPC part as well. Quit because of hackers. Wolfenstein enemy territory should be remade as well, another game with different kind of multiplayer you dont see today.
I have been missing this game for over 10 years.... I was rank 46 independently when ijji had it. When I turned 18, I went into the army. Tried to play it again when I came back but I got into cars and console gaming (Halo 3/Reach mostly). I told my wife to not let me buy a pc though because I won't leave GunZ alone if I can find it and that was 2 years ago. Coincidence that I found this vid.
Seeing videos like these about gunz.. makes my heart flutter a bit.. god how i miss this game and this type of experience. The long nights in gladiator with some booze where everyone was practicing their shit xD
This video made me very nostalgic. Probably the best game I've ever played so far - spent a lot of days and nights playing this masterpiece in my childhood! Thank you for posting this
I love games with crazy accidentally mechanics. I remember in an interview, warframe said when players found and popularized a movement bug early on, instead of slapping them on the hand and saying bad, they took a note that players like cool movement and made bullet jumping. More games should do this.
This video and game bring back so much memory. I don't even remember for how many years and countless hours I played this game. From Offical Level Up Games to those fun Private servers.
It looks like a cool game to watch even though my hands couldnt handle playing it anymore. If the production quality was good i would love to watch some matches
I used to play this with my cousin like a decade ago. Good times. Honestly felt revolutionary at the time. I didn't knew of any other game with that much freedom of movement.
@@putyograsseson Fr tho. Especially how all of the character's moves are "unlocked" from the start. Its up to the player to be the badass, not the character.
This was the game that turned me into a Riven main 😂😂😂 Watching this video alone made the veins in my hands pop a bit and my fingers twitch through so much muscle memory I've invested in both a Riven main and playing this game.
This game was SO SICK. I would love to see a game inspired by this but simplified a little bit by maybe equipping a small combination of skills or gear to equip to facilitate or lock some actions, or if it emphasized more individual power sets like Dungeon Fighter Online.
I basically spent like 4 years in my teens (I am now 33) dedicating my life trying to be the ebst I could possibly be at this game. It felt like nothing else coule possibly be more meaningful lmao. I got pretty damn good, and could handle myself against top players, but never quite could match the top clans or players like Tiger.
I remember downloading this on steam waaaaaaaaay back and I got my ass whooped by the most toxic humans on the surface of the cosmos. I also played with some of the coolest people in the galaxy.
Could you do something similar on S4 League? The games are really similar, both fast paced shooters pushed to their limits by the community. S4 focuses more on parkour and team cooperation tho
still remember the first time I saw someone play it in a gaming house. I will never forget the feeling of the 1st time I got to play it after waiting in queue for 20 minutes. It was just, awesome
I would love to see a video on what Fortnite was originally intended to be: Save the World and your opinion on why it barely, if ever, got off the ground
I started playing Tekken in the early 2000s and remember how people where in awe at how korean players like jang iksu and KBM moved. Saw Gunz and it reminded me of korean backdash and wave dashes. Got hooked immediately. The skill expression of gunz is off the charts, and it makes you want to play just to master the movement.
I finally found this game. I used to play it when I was a kid. I play it when I get home from school. But when my computer broke, I forgot the name and spent 8 or 9 years looking for this game.THX.

This was the most competitive game I've ever played. I remember being a kid grinding hours just to upgrade my shitty machine guns to a shotgun cause the pros looked cool using them

This felt like it could've been the Smash bros of third person shooters if there was enough online support / Twitch around
Was here to say this. Sounds exactly like Melee
melee's sick
Gunz's sick
Yeah smash is a pretty good "party" game
The graphics alone gave me nostalgia of old compute cafe I saw this game before but I never knew the name I remember his tapping his key board like crazy
it sucks that we can't even explain how mechanically insane this game was. the number of buttons you press in 1 second, the number of hours you spent just practicing, etc. this game was my childhood and god damn was it so fucking fun
There is absolutely nothing like it
@@blacksocrates1 melee, brood war, unless you mean strictly shooters then yeah id agree
It was so hard even when I was young, not to mention 15 years later...
It's like online dark soul with guns
first time you saw that shit, didn't you think people were hacking?
That's if the codes still exists.
There is a game like this. Its called Warframe, top 5 f2p game on steam
@@blackhacker7689 I've been playing Warframe since release. It's not comparable to the mechanics in GunZ. Every mushroom and its daughter can bullet jump or wall-run in Warframe, because it's piss easy. Don't get me wrong, I love WF, but GunZ is on a complete different level when it comes to gameplay.
it basically reminds me of a chinese anime called king's avatar (the pvp aspect of it atleast)
The greatest PvP game in history. Nothing has ever felt good enough after GunZ.

Yeah i feel that too lol
Playd gunz 2 then warframe, now im stucked on a cheap mmo neverwinter

Yeah, I’ll agree to that. Two dead third person shooters were my go to: GunZ and Battlefield Heroes.
Now I don’t play shooters… because I just want those two.
This game really taught me to push past my comfort levels and made me believe I could learn even seemingly impossible things if I didn't give up. Very heartwarming to see this video. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That's exactly how I felt with DMC3.
This was awesome to read
from 2009 to early 2011 I was the US GM for GunZ.
I remember seeing someone asking about this and you guys responding you would do it but didn't expect a video so soon
We saw this suggestion a while back and the more we looked into it, the more we realized that Gunz was an esport that could've been.
@@Akshonesports an eport* :D
@@Akshonesports could you guys also do a video about Due Process? I think this game has a lot of potential of being a great esports game! :D
@@gabriels8395 I agree, I’d love to see Due Process become a large scale esports game
And with the enhancements Xero offers I'd argue there never was a better time to get into S4League than now
or back when it first released, because you just had to be there :)

Dude, it was more than that. That game was FILLED with potential. There was a PVE mode that was a blast to play, since you move so fast, you can weave between dozens of creatures, from all kinds of directions.
Gunz 2 was NOT generic, lol.
low entry with high ceiling is difficult to make. It's either a work of art, or luck.
oh my god i remember spending countless of hours in net cafe on this game just to master it and show it off to my friend, and even opts to tone down the graphic so much so it make your opponent easier to track, god dang this brings back so many fond memories...
Wow, I remember this here in Brazil, we loved it!
I remember playing this game when I was 12. I loved the very fast pacing and all the people flying around. You literally cant slow down since slowing down turns you into an easy target. The F2p players always stick to a certain strategy where they would find the right timing to knock down opponents with a dagger and its basically a sure death once knockdown since it doesnt matter what gun anyone use
ah yes, the throw them up with the katana, shotgun them while they're staggered and them laugh strategy, i fell for this so many times...
Thank you for posting this
The source of my carpel tunnel.
Hail Gunz!
There was nothing more satisfying than hearing the _beep_ after perfectly hitting a slash-shot
This brings back memories. I was one of the best gladiators in EU back then.
I love games with crazy accidentally mechanics. I remember in an interview, warframe said when players found and popularized a movement bug early on, instead of slapping them on the hand and saying bad, they took a note that players like cool movement and made bullet jumping. More games should do this.
Naah fuck DE they kill cónclave 1.0 because ppl can find it "too hard to learn "
@@-Krosis yeah for sure they had good philosophy in the beginning but then they started throwing it out the window
I would argue that there is none to this day
@@putyograsseson Fr tho. Especially how all of the character's moves are "unlocked" from the start. Its up to the player to be the badass, not the character.
It's so unique. Icant think of any game that does fast paced 3rd person combat quite like this.
This was the game that turned me into a Riven main 😂😂😂
Watching this video alone made the veins in my hands pop a bit and my fingers twitch through so much muscle memory I've invested in both a Riven main and playing this game.
I used to play this. It was totally awesome and unique experience, would play again!
I never play gunz but i remenber watching people play and was so fun to watch. Glad to see it live again
Could you do something similar on S4 League? The games are really similar, both fast paced shooters pushed to their limits by the community. S4 focuses more on parkour and team cooperation tho
this game reminds me of s4 league, it seems like theyre the only two games in this genre.
still remember the first time I saw someone play it in a gaming house. I will never forget the feeling of the 1st time I got to play it after waiting in queue for 20 minutes. It was just, awesome
I would love to see a video on what Fortnite was originally intended to be: Save the World and your opinion on why it barely, if ever, got off the ground
2:13 Damn so Korean Backdashing in Tekken is a form of K-Style movement? The more you know!
A video on S4 League would be awesome ! I also remember playing GunZ when I was younger and it was awfully hard
That's a name that I almost had forgotten. I played S4 in the beta and a long while after. The only shooter I ever got into.
@@DerpyLaron S4 was good until they put time limits on clothing items, fucking dumbest thing I ever saw
