As a veteran Gunz 1 player, I will preface by saying that I actually really enjoy Gunz 2. It was fun when there were actually people playing it. But, mechanics-wise, it is a bit of a shallower, canned experience, allowing for a more fluid, free-form style of play, whereas Gunz 1 feels more discrete, a game that truly makes one feel like a ninja once the mechanics are mastered. Gunz 1 requires years of practice and a martial-arts master's level of dedication and perseverance to fully realize the mechanics. Gunz 1 has a high skill floor and an extremely high skill ceiling, whereas Gunz 2 has a low-moderate skill floor and a high skill ceiling. Aside from all the variants in Gunz 2, I was able to figure out the depth of the mechanics before finishing the tutorial on launch day as there is a fairly significant amount of intuitiveness and skill transfer coming from Gunz 1. Even my brother, who is a relative neophyte at k-style, was able to pick up basic Gunz 2 mechanics within minutes. So yeah, that's my take.
Mechanics have not been discovered since recently and we've only been able to scratch the surface of what mechanics this game has to offer. Kstyle exists in a different manner making this game more fast and also much more skill expressive than initial like 2013-2017 GunZ2 era. The game has evolved so much that this game proves to be more technical and more kstyle implemented than even the original game. A lot of people have been blinded by the lack of effort and time that players tried or attempted the crazy input mechanics that would usually takes hours and hours of practice. This game offers an even HIGHER skill ceiling than GunZ1 and also proves to be very easy to pick up as well! Making it a very fun experience for casual play and fun for top level.
I mean, I understood the potential of the mechanics on launch day, with the exception of variants and obviously consistency. I can see what you're doing in these videos, and I assure you, there is nothing surprising. I agree that Gunz 2 allows the player to be rather expressive due to the nature of the cancels. The problem I have with Gunz 2 and why I think it has less of a redeeming quality to its gameplay than Gunz 1 is that it's more about "when can I squeeze in a dash or block cancel?" than about learning interesting techniques. Gunz 2 is cool and fun, but everyone and there mom is trying to fit the mechanics of Gunz 2 into a k-style shaped hole, but it's just not that. The only way in which Gunz 2 is even remotely as technical as Gunz 1 is that it requires fast inputs for dashing and the like, but I have yet to see any Gunz 2 mechanic that requires anywhere near the precision, timing, and speed required to do Gunz 1 gdhs, tbf, dbf + slashshot, flip juggling (including juggling on wall, which is totally nutty), rocket jump and grenade jump flip mechanics, etc. The Gunz 2 mechanics of fast dash inputs, block cancels, character-specific combos, land on head, quick headshot, while technical, are nowhere near what Gunz 1 has to offer from a technicality standpoint. Anyway, it's just silly calling all these Gunz 2 mechanics k-style because there is no slashshot, no half-step, no butterfly, literally the bread-and-butter of k-style. You cannot jump -> dash -> slash -> block in Gunz 2. You cannot jump -> dash -> slash -> switch to weapon -> shoot. I know, I've heard the arguments before. There are similar mechanics, but they aren't the same, nor as interesting, nor as technical as Gunz 1. Big disagree on the skill ceiling btw. That's my opinion, I've said my piece.
GunZ 1 is nothing special compared to GunZ 2, stop wanting another franchise to be like your old and tired game like GunZ 1 is, GunZ 2 is the definitive proof of K-style, I am the definitive proof of GunZ 2 at its peak of speed and mechanics, advanced technology and which gunz 1 doesn't have. Furthermore, stop wanting to buy a first game for your second, they are similar games but with K-Style built in. Both games are good. it would be rude and toxic member of the gunz 1 community, to be talking bad about a game that you don't even want to learn. Gunz 2 is not the remake of GunZ 1, grow up. Both games are good, and both have their charm, that's what matters

Difficult ≠ Good. Perhaps it brings you a sense of accomplishment to be able to do something hard, but realistically speaking it doesn't add anything to the gameplay. K-style was difficult simply because the game wasn't designed around such mechanics, so said mechanics had to be walking with crutches. What made k-style good gameplay-wise is the freedom of movement it offered, unrivaled in any other game at the time. The same couldn't be said when GunZ 2 was released.
On release GunZ 2 was technically still not even in 1.0 form which I mention in a previous video (like its early access) and was in beta for awhile. So when it was 1.0 form the game was completely normal and mostly the same from there going forward. You're also saying that what makes gunz 1 so good is the freedom of movement? Do you not see the movement I'm able to do. It's crazy fun and very practical. I think you can throw what u said out the window its almost exactly the same game ITS GUNZ
@@moasiege I wish youtube had a quoting system in order to avoid paraphrasing because you either understood half of what I said or nitpicked on purpose. Not only did I say that GunZ was good thanks to its freedom of movement, but also that it stands out because not many (if not any) other TPS could offer a similar experience at the time. Then I explicitly added that the same couldn't be said for GunZ 2. You completely missed the point being that GunZ 2 simply wasn't as unique as GunZ was when it was released. There were many other fast-paced TPS that had well implemented mechanics by then. In other words, GunZ was ahead of its time whereas GunZ 2 was normal at best. So to answer your question, yes, I see everything you're doing and I'm telling you that it isn't that impressive in today's gaming industry and that it wasn't that impressive 10 years ago either. I played GunZ 2 as well and find it fun, which isn't surprising from a GunZ player but liking the game does not make it any better objectively. Let's not delude ourselves.
Imo I cant see how gunz2 is more simply and less unique than Gunz1. The opposite is true imo. In Gunz1 you have all these very complicated mechanics, but lets be honest, look at the gameplay, most of the time the gameplay is just moving side to side and shooting, unless getting into melee range, which isnt something that is encouraged when you are medium range or further. Gunz2 on the other hand has more outplay potential, and overall more dynamic gameplay. By its game design, choosing to focus on shooting or choosing to focus on melee has different strengths and weaknesses. When shooting you obviously have range, but if someone closes the gap you wouldnt be able to defend yourself as quicky, when focused on melee you have more access to movement and close range advantage, but you can be obviously shot from afar, and it would take time to switch and be able to shoot a weapon. Gunz1 just throws it all out of the window with its K-style, and makes the game play more like a generic shooter most of the time, just move from side to side and shoot. Meanwhile in Gunz2 you have the mechanics shown in Siege's video, which makes you have much more movement options and generally be more mobile while also focusing on your ranged weapon, but still doesn't remove the core game design I explained. That is atleast I think, the main reason. But there are more mechanics that complement the game and add outplay potential. Gunz2 is possibly the only game that exists right now that truly combines a fighting game with a shooter, while gunz1 has those elements, but the fact you can just change from being able to attack with melee to be able to shoot with no limit makes gunz1 gameplay a simple shooter, just with very complex mechanics. By the way, you said that Siege didn't address your points, but he did point out that at the past, gunz2 was 'normal', and it changed, and he talked about your other point and that the Gunz2 K-Style offers freedom of movement, and is very practical. @@vellya511

Gunz2 offers more outplay potential, while gunz1 unless not in close range, doesn't have that because there is no limitation what so ever between attacking with melee and switching and attacking with ranged and vise versa.
