    What a video! Amazing good footage, you really crushed'em. You definitely mastered that technique.
    Thanks for showing how you read the sonar, very good info.
    Where can I purchase that chartreuse Walleye Pole Dancer? Can't find it at any of those retail stores...
    thanks

      Thanks I spend lots of time jigging for lakers as its by far my favorite way to catch them. As for pole dancers you can contact Kim at anglers bait and tackle in Cold Lake and he should be able to get some to you. I seen he just got a order in of the new glow series too!

    Nice day on the water Mat . Hope to see you out there one day . I didnt see you using any bait ,

    • @weaversbentrods
      @weaversbentrods  4 роки тому

      andy kozlowski I rarely ever use bait while jigging this style as it is a reaction bite and they fish don’t have long to inspect your lure so I don’t really feel the scent of bait will provide a huge advantage

  • @montanastrongremodelrenova1632

    do you ever have school of lakers piled up and chase your bait but not bite no matter if you jig the bottom, above the bottom or even reeling up to get them to chase???? Were having that exact issue on flathead lake here in montana... its bizarre especially because they are staged up

    • @weaversbentrods
      @weaversbentrods  Рік тому +1

      If it is right now it could just be a pre spawn type deal where they aren't really focusing effort on eating too much. Generally if you can get them to chase but not bite its usually a few lure changes and you start getting bites. Often in this case I tend to downsize my presentation to see if they like something a little smaller. But the opposite is also true.

    What type of rod and reel are you using? We're getting into lake trout fishing this year and want a rod we can also use for casting pike lures, jigging walleye lures and one for jigging lakers.

    • @weaversbentrods
      @weaversbentrods  3 роки тому +1

      If your looking to do all three of those I would recommend three different rods. For walleye a 6'6"-7' Medium Light is a staple rod for myself. As for lake trout a 7'-8' Heavy rod is always a good start. In this video I was mostly using a 7' Heavy by St. Croix Premier paired with a Pflueger president reel. I have since mostly transitioned to a custom built 7' Heavy that I have designed myself based on what I like. As for pike I go heavy and my trophy fall lake trout gear is usually what I would use for pike. This being a 7'6" Heavy rod it's a little slower action but loads up incredibly well on 20-30lb fish. When picking a rod set up you 100% want something you can get the fish you are targeting into the boat in a timely fashion so you are not overplaying the fish which can jeopardize the fishes health.

    Planning on doing a couple days fishing this weekend on cold lake. How are the fish there this year? Where can I get the bait you are using?

    • @weaversbentrods
      @weaversbentrods  3 роки тому +1

      It’s been a good season so far! There’s several places in cold lake that carry them. Anglers Bait & Tackle, Emma’s convenience. In loydminster there’s Wildside outdoors or The fishing hole in Edmonton

    • @weaversbentrods

      Start off searching around structure. The water is still warming but the fish will be roaming the water column. Some days they will be sitting on the top of the structure in 30-60ft other days they will move out deeper but should be sitting close to that structure. Another key is finding bait that will greatly improve your odds on finding an active school of lakers! Good luck out there 👊

    Curious about your editing. Why do we see you reeling the fish and then edit? Not on all catches….but most.

    • @weaversbentrods
      @weaversbentrods  2 роки тому +1

      I usually hand land my fish so they don’t get all twisted up in a net and wreck lures and get injuries. Just edit out the part where they thrash around boat side cleans up the video so it’s not 10 mins extra of nothing that adds value
