  • It lives!
    Part 2 of the swap, final install and 1st test drive! The car feels awesome, actually sounds cooler (somehow haha), and is DFINITELY quicker. Even at the same boost.
    Next time I’ll be turning up the boost and getting some sweet driving footage :D

    Glad you're filming this. I have a 240 and I've been slowly accumulating parts for this swap, good to see it successfully done.

      Projects & Projects yeah it all bolts in. The issues I was having really shouldn't have happened... the universe just decides to converge whenever I work on cars though xP
      I'm used to it haha

    T5 Swap in USA: a boring weak transmission.
    T5 Swap in Sweden: A 5 cyl engine and everything.

      Alex Strömberg haha yeah...
      It's at least better than the M47 though xP

      that is very true, very true, better than the M90 too.

      Some would debate that haha.
      We'll see where the car takes me in the future. I've had visions of a turbo K series swap...

    Wow props to you man. I would never try to do swap in the driveway on my back. Well done man thats a lot of work. I like how you made the shifter look stock.

      Phillip Gagliardi thanks! I did my mustang engine swap in the driveway also haha
      Not super fun, but a good experience. And saves a lot of money over having someone do it for me of course haha.
      I'm gonna build a different shifter soon. The rod that came on the T5 is super short, so I kinda have to lean forward to shift. Plus the stock Foxbody knob is kinda meh haha

      Actually they're pretty legit surprisingly. Haven't had any issues with it yet in 3 years. Affordable as always haha

    So maybe I missed it, is that the mustang drive shaft? It just fits in place?

    • @new_spin
      @new_spin  6 років тому +2

      Yep! Stock V8 Foxbody driveshaft.
      The Yoshifan adapter is maybe an inch or so thick. Fits awesome.
      My only issues were due to the fact that my car was lowered and the panhard wasn't quite adjusted properly at first so the seatbelt mounting bolts would rub the driveshaft on hard right hand acceleration.

    Looks good! What are your clutch set specs/part numbers/diameter? What is the power limit of your friction disc? Thx!

      gearhead1234 i don't have this car anymore, and I'm not 100% sure on the hard specs but I got the kit from YoshiFab as their "Stage 3" kit. I know it's a Clutchmasters FX400 line. 6 puck ceramic

    how hard would it be to put a T5 trans into a 940 turbo with the AW71 auto trans?

    • @new_spin
      @new_spin  4 роки тому

      I'm not super sure, I do know the engine from this car actually came from a 940 Turbo, so adapter wise etc it's the same. Not sure on driveshaft and crossmember options though. Or of the shifter works the same way (stock Foxbody lined up perfect)

    • @new_spin
      @new_spin  6 років тому

      Oh yeah haha, got a Super-16G. It's an original 240 Turbo, but the PO swapped in a '94 940 B230FT with basically full bolt ons. You can see all the mods in my Intro videos for it on my channel.

    What led gauge did you have when you had the car?

    • @new_spin
      @new_spin  5 років тому

      I believe it was a pretty standard Innovate?

    Did you end up pulling the trans and shimming the clutch fork at all with the sts flat flywheel

    • @new_spin
      @new_spin  4 роки тому

      You know I can't remember if I added any shims...
      But I know I didn't have any issues with anything after the install on general. Didn't have to pull it again that's for sure haha

    So how about 5th gear on the highway? What RPM and speed? What gear ratios did your T5 have? what gear ratio in your final drive?

    • @new_spin
      @new_spin  4 роки тому +1

      This was a couple years ago now but I remember the final drive was about a 3.36ish? Maybe 3.31?
      And 5th gear was either a 0.5 or 0.75, rpm was very low like ~2500rpm @ 90+mph
      It definitely was very tall with that final drive. Basically the same as stock Foxbody/SN95 Mustang gearing. I would've preffered 3.73s or 4.10s for sure, unless you're looking to build a freeway flyer haha

    we could not see anything on the drive. Too dark. Camera not facing outward at a level or above. Perhaps it would have been better for us to do the test drive during the daylight hours. interesting clutch and transmission swap video.
