Fantastic video, and super happy to watch it as it’s exactly the spec I’ve done mine! I almost didn’t do the uprated crank pulley bit as I didn’t know about it, then thankfully someone mentioned it to me before it was too late!

Great content. I like watching someone who obviously knows what he’s doing and who takes pride in his work. I have a 300k mile NA ‘92 240 that was purchased and serviced locally, with all service records, which I’ve done a lot of suspension mods to and I’m in the middle of a T5 transmission swap. I was considering a V8 conversion, but after watching this one video, I am now considering keeping the redblock and purchasing the parts to convert it to turbo. You da man!

This oil pump is the na pump, the turbo models had taller gears, the na ones had a bigger flat ridge from the pickup to the pump cast in to them.

I'm doing a b230 build myself and i seem to have lucked out on the starting engine, it's a -94 FD engine which has the oil squirters, the mahle pistons(same as FK and later FT's just with more compression than the turbo ones) and if it has the good oil pump those engines should be really sought after now when regular FK/FT stock is drying up pretty rapidly in these later years.
I have new cheap H-beams and a 2.5L crank which should make it a bit more peppy than the stock one in my 740 :)
No turbo on this one though!

Great video! Really looking forward to the rest of the series, specifically head work.
I'm currently running around 300hp in a stock B230FT from -95. I have a TD04-16T turbo and running blow through on 2x weber 48 DCO. The turbo caps out at around 300hp so for the next year I'm planning on upgrading the turbo, but I have heard from several other sources as well that the connecting rods only hold up to 300-350whp depending on the torque. So when upgrading the turbo I will also need to upgrade the bottom end and potentially the head which is also stock, except it has a K-cam. Here are some questions that I (and probably others) would love to have answered:
    - You mentioned that stock crankshaft and pistons from the turbo models are fine for 600hp. But do you need to have them balanced? I guess that depends on how high you want to rev. I'm thinking of roughly balancing the pistons and rods myself with the use of a weight scale, but the crank is hard to do without a balancing machine. Same for flywheel and the entire clutch assembly. How high can you rev with/without balancing all internals? I've seen from some sources that 7000RPM from stock engines is OK.
    - Do you use stock bolts for the main bearings and the rod bearings?
    - I guess neither of these two mods are NEEDED for 600hp, but do you recomend running an oil girdle and/or modified wet sump (to prevent oil starvation) for drifting?
    - Can you go into more details about the head gasket setup, have you made a groove for the stainless steel rings or just placed them on top of the block? How high above the block should they sit?
    //John from Sweden :)

Easy and cheap way to get more power on a stock 13c turbo is a manual boost controller and turning boost pressure up to 0.8bar.
When you get used of this and need more, a ignition and fuel chip (google ezk if you don’t have gold box), a 3” exhaust from turbo back, intercooler, 465cc injectors and resistor on the injector control thing, an aftermarket street tuned cam, and you should be making good power relatively cheap.
Throw a 16t or 19t turbo on it, and you can go pretty quick while still having a reliable car
Sorry if there are any mistakes in the write up, but I reckon this is the easiest best way before having to do the bottom end/welding 3rd gear locker ring on the M90 to stay reliable

I have a very nice Volvo red block 1995 wagon for sale with tan leather interior, it has had timing belt changed last yr, water pump, alternator, pulse air valves, all relays etc as well as power stage , radiator and overflow both replaced, all hoses and elbows, all fuses etc. I absolutely love my car but I decided not to drive anymore has so many great things about it, I want 7200$ for it and will gladly show what all has been done with it, also has new fuel injectors, spark plugs, fuel rail lines replaced, multiple spare parts are being sold with it I bought new just to have with me if ever needed, the thermostat changed, also the throttle body cleaned and throttle position sensor has been set perfectly for idle etc. I live in Florida and use 10w30 mobile 1 oil in it, also Mann oil filter.. much else done routinely mass air flow sensor cleaned with recommended cleaner spray as well as all electrical connections cleaned and no corrosion, no rust anywhere, ac works altho I never use it, radio works etc.

I'm running a Stock 1997 B230FT with 360 oil pump and sump and wondering if it will have enough oil pressure with the 360 pump.
I also have alot of oil leaks, it seems to spurt out on the boost dump (around 14psi). I've tried a breather check valve which helps but it pops the dipstick out now. Next I'm doubling up the 16mm check valve (much smaller CSA) and trying to find some bugger ones.
The engine has 150K+ but seems in good condition. I also had a small head gasket lead due to a dent in the gasket ring. Could I have too much blow by, do I need to do a bottom end check, or do I need to expand the breather system?
