Very solid and fair review I'm currently finishing my first play through right now, with the final stretch in sight (on 'Where madness goes'). Really enjoyed the game and looking forward to seeing how my ending pans out. Even more so, now very much so excited about GF2 Early Access about to drop next month.
Greedfall is a good B to B+ that sits in my favorites. It scratches the Bioware/Witcher itch if you're looking for an action-rpg with lots of character moments and don't mind guns in your fantasy. If you can get it on sale, I highly recommend it.
This was the comment that convinced me to play it. I saw a comment elsewhere explaining the mechanics, and I was like "that sounds a lot like Fabel, I miss that" lol
@Zaron_Gaming It's the same seamless transition of magic-melee-ranged that the Fables had, Kingdoms of Amalur felt like that too. Especially holding down the left trigger for the magic.
Very good review. The way you do your review, you remind me of Mortismal, who is one of the best out there. I'll sure to check you other reviews you do in the future!
I remember playing this ages ago and the soundtrack for this game is phenomenal! Not every track is a masterpiece, but hearing the motif of the main theme from GF1 in GF2’s theme but with lyrics is master class music writing. The language they invented for this world is so unique as well! There’s a video essay somewhere that discusses the language they wrote but it’s very thought out and sounds gorgeous.
This brings me back to lockdown memories, when my ex gf was working from home and I was cleaning my PS backlog. I was happy. 😢 waiting for Greedfall 2!
Thank you for this review. Been lurking quite a time now near this game, and I finally think, this might be something I enjoy. My first RPG I played through was GOTHIC 2 by Piranha Bytes (R.I.P. :( ), and also had a blast playing through the first RISEN game. Came to GREEDFALL simply by searching stuff, that scratches that certain Piranha Bytes-itch. Can't place my finger on it - maybe it's the intricate world building, the more down-to-earth, rough tone, the Jank(TM) ofc lol, but also a loving eye for unexpected details. Tried one of their most recent games, ELEX, and while I loved the gameplay and overall athmosphere of the game, I absolutely hated the jetpack, since it undermined rewarding exploration to a major degree. Hearing now, that GREEDFALL has you exploring everything on foot, is music to my ears. Cheers, and Happy New Year!
I just started it and because I sucked at the witchers 2 combat tutorial but loved the Witcher 2 I kept playing this even though a failed the combat tutorial. It’s dope so far. I like boats, magic pirates, islands, and big drama show.
for me, the game (world) was too big, where "recycling" of everything was too visible, being "only" AA game I could have enjoyed much smaller but more dense playthrough (more similar to for ex. Vampyr)
Greedfall is an amazing game, I loved it from begining to end, but i just saw the new Greedfall II and the game gone backwards, don't like their new combat system and it become more a old ARPG like baldur's gate I and II
I'm going to go replay this game after I return Greedfall 2. I need to wash the bad taste out of my mouth with something less bad. Greedfall 1 isn't great, but there's very few options in that time period, and it is overall pretty fun despite its shortcomings. It kind of reminds of a mix of old school Gothic games and later Dragon Age.
The combat looks smoother than Technimancer. I'm still working on rhat one. Just got the gild edition for free on gog. Hoping for a better experience than Skyrim and the combat seems better than vanilla at least.
Good review. I'm about halfway through. Started like 2-3 years ago and just stopped after a few months (I'm a slow player, always playing 10 games at once) But I'm gonna pick it back up here after Space Marine but before Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. That way I'm ready for Greedfall 2 release. I've always enjoyed Spyder games. I like the Mars Logs one.
@DelScully so far I'm really enjoying it. A good AA offer. It takes some getting used to the combat. The story has been pretty good. I'm playing mainly a gun and sword build. I did some grinding to up my ammo count and things got a lot better.
Most of Spider games are mediocre..I wouldn't replay BUT I have finished all of them and had a great time doing that. That's a great skill more companies should acquire 😉
I really did try with Greedfall, but i absolutely hated it. Every interior looked identical to the last, character models were horrendous - and the rest of the game didnt make up for that, it was too distracting. Too many skill trees to piss about in, it just bored me to death. Also an "rpg" ish game where you cant jump whenever you like is just a pain in the ass
just played the game a min ago and i love its atmosphere but there is a minor unit control issue that really bugs me a lot, when you get the character running and the moment you start looking around with the right stick of the controller and hes stops running and only walks until you align camera and moving directions and that makes him run again, that shit really drives me crazy
@@Bioxidus85 lmao my dude. I'm telling you this is a you issue. It's something you have done. I've beat this game on pc and Xbox multiple times and this is not a problem I've ever faced. This is 1000000% something you've done.
looks like a mindless hack and slash with some looting RNG, with a small amount of cutscenes between. Was hoping for more so it might be a while before i even try it

Wait, GreedFall was 5 years ago? Damn. My perception of time, man.
Tell me about it!
The backlogs we typically have don't help either 😅
Time flies for us gamers

@@Krack1999 It's more of my age than Covid. Even the 2000s feel like it passed swiftly for me, like it's just a decade ago.

Greedfall would be an excellent TV show
Check out carnival row. You may enjoy it!
You wish it be going into Amazon new show of the different games but new world is close to greed fall in looks
The pause combat to tell ur companions to stealth attack at the same time as u would hv made this so much better.

Love your reviews! One of my favorite channels.
Thank you! I really appreciate that, I’ve got more on the way and still looking for ways to improve!
Also, i really like how this feels like a Fable game. So much here is familiar to me, it really looks like a progression on those games.
This was the comment that convinced me to play it. I saw a comment elsewhere explaining the mechanics, and I was like "that sounds a lot like Fabel, I miss that" lol
This is a fantastic comment. I'm very fond of fable 1-2 and comfortable with the gameplay. If it's that similar I'll love it

Hey I appreciate the comment! Mort is one of my fav reviewers, thanks for watching!
Holy cow sounds similar voice wise but NGU is his own identity, awesome review found the gold edition on sale thanks 🙏🏽.
That's awesome, hope you enjoy the game and thank you for watching!
Mortismal gaming shoutout. Love that guy

I read this on his voice. You reminded me of a core memory
Just played Steelrising by them and was really suprised how much i enjoyed it. Thinking about trying this game out now. Looks right up my alley!
I liked Steelrising as well, felt the game overall was on the easier side though!

That’s a fair criticism, the definitely punched above their weight but the reuses of assets became pretty obvious down the stretch
Very good review, subbed and looking forward to future ones.
Thank you, enjoyed your review style and subbed :)
That's great to hear! I'm glad you enjoyed it, looking to get better & better every review :)
Damm this Chanel is underrated
I just dug this out my ps4 box. Was looking to scratch a rpg itch after playing visions of mana. Why did I quit 5 hrs in. Good game. Underrated

baldurs gate 1 and 2 is a cRPG not an aRPG
That's good thing

10 games at once?! I can hardly juggle 3 at a time
I need to really get back into this game.. Did they do any meaningful updates since it released?
the kick and shoot build is the superior way to go
Does greedfall hAve endgame after completion?
No
I just bought on steam sale. Somehow youtube knows... Scary. Seriously though on PC it runs pretty good and I love the voice acting.
how is it so far? Just finished Kingdom come deliverance and looking for another older game to run through.

@DelScully side quests have really been worth fleshing out the story so far. Really having a good time with it.
I love this game! It has that janky ps3 vibes 😅😅😅
I loved greedfall but I’m scared for the combat in greedfall 2

The older you get the faster time seems too go by sadly

Greedfall absolutely great game… Greedfall 2 , not looking too good at all from recent videos of those who did play it on UA-cam.
👍 Thx

I tried it when it was on sale and returned it within minutes. Something about the combat just didnt feel satisfying
