My favourite thing in Greedfall, aside from Constantine who I adore, is the realism of guns.
Like yeah, makes sense that guns are OP during colonization.
would have been more realistic to add a bit more time to reload rather than shooting it like its some ak 47
Agreed with a notable exception. In my two play throughs I never encountered bad move pathing, people standing in thin air, or people walking into walls. Not sure why your game played so differently in this regard. Weird.
Played on ps4 Pro and I also don't remember any minor bugs like this. Would assume it still happened if it was so regular.
Played it on Xbox one s. Never encountered those issues either
@@WhiteZet1 PC and I haven't had a problem, yet.
And that's why everyone's game is different some might have bugs others might not
I never experienced any of this as well
Love to see this game extended and reissued as a AAA level game. Artwork some of the best I've seen.
"Is he doing that numa numa dance"
Thanks, I just aged a decade in one sentence
I loved the combat in this game. The magic was really fun to use and the guns, especially the higher level ones, were satisfying to fire.
Totally agree
If you finish the game can you still do something or its just done?
It ends.
@@yoink9148 it just ends, though you can return to a point before the final mission.
I loved this game, not enough fantasy games with that 17th century look.
Agreed!
The drip is real!
Love me a good Tricorne hat and rapier.
Picked it up because it felt aesthetically similar to PoE 2 Deadfire (despite not being an isometric game). Unfortunately tho, I couldn't quite get into greedfall... Just didn't click with me
Can I just say that your dry LOL is for some reason one of the funniest thing in your videos, every time it pops up it makes me legitimately laugh
Speccing into rifles turn this game into a breeze especially when you have the ability to craft your own bullets. At that point, you're carrying a machinegun in the 18th century.
Yeah that is one of the reasons I don't use guns. Magic and Melee only
Yeah I tried to play this game twice, but guns made combat too easy to hook me. Have to go in with restrictions and try a melee only or something
yeah, so i made myself not spec in armor so at least i'm a glass cannon and there's some challenge if i get hit. at first it was hard (playing on hard), now it's a breeze...but if i get overwhelmed and get hit once or twice, i'm dead.

I had rifles but I mainly used a revolver and a way op dueling pistol, the gentleman's weapon.
"Cuz if you do, he'll wipe the floor with you"

Mitch: "Lol"
Looking at their work from the outside, Spider has always struck me as a dev with a lot of creative passion for their work, but never quite the technical/narrative know-how to back that up.
I recall hearing how someone from the company said Spider wanted to be the next Bioware, but it seems like Larian have slipped into that mold instead.
For that quest that “glitched out” at the beginning, what really happened is that you need to talk to the OTHER guild guy at the new location. He says it in the dialogue also the quest itself says the location. Other than that yea I agree.
Those guys in the beginning were hidden so well, with all the colors of brown available they were just another box for all that guard knew 😆
I love your balanced take on these games and that fact you take the time to go through them to give these reviews is amazing keep it up!
Thanks mate, all worth it to get something decent out to ppl like urself.
This is by far one of the funniest reviews I've seen! Great review my friend!
Another banger video Mitch! You having less then 3k subs is a crime
I’m hoping the 2nd game gets more resources allocated to the game and we kinda have a similar “Witcher scaling” where each game of the trilogy got better with more story and size and resources being put into it to, to the point where we got Witcher 3 and became a fantastic game.
Mitch! Your videos are so well done! Thanks for the great infotainment. Was always curious about Greedfall, but you’ve sorted that for me better than I could have for myself. 😝 Great work, as always. Keep it up.
Thanks for that! And glad I could be of help my friend.
Loved the video. Very well done. You definitely deserve more subscribers.
Thanks mate 🙂
Solid 9/10 with mods, especially the sheathed weapons mod.
Not many mods for greedfall thou and some dont work.
I loved this game, but I had issues with that early game mission too. Also, the shrubs are really what killed this game for me LOL. Wonderful review and it's fair. I hope the Spiders took what's been said about this game for the sequel/prequel.
Rough around the edges for sure, but I had a great time with this game. Colonial fantasy is a super cool concept that I don’t think I’ve seen done anywhere else, and the combat, companion interactions, and ability to solve problems with straight diplomacy give me early BioWare vibes. I for one am excited to see more from this studio
Wonderful and very agreeable. Also would like to point out the mass amounts of running you might need to do if you are a completionist like me as some quests are a marathon to finish.
Always look forward to your new videos! They always crack me up. I prefer your comedy focused reviews over detail focused reviews. I normally don't care what game you review, I'm just here for the laughs. 😂
Thanks mate. Starting out last year I was making more informational reviews with more comic videos separate, but over the past few months have been focusing more on walking a line between the two in the same video so ppl like yourself can be entertained even if they arnt interested in the game. 100% going to keep that going as want there to be something for everyone. Really glad you are enjoying the content.
@@MitchManix I'll watch every new video if you keep that formula🤣. My first video of yours I watched was Kingdom Come Deliverance, I probably watched that at least half a dozen times. "The NPC I come to know as Greg" 🤣😂🤣 hilarious stuff!! You made me buy the game too. Lol
@@shanebatten7337 Cheers mate, keeps me going getting feedback like that and looking forward to making lots for for you guys. How are you finding Kingdom Come? Still cant believe the devs reacted to my vid lol
@@MitchManix KCD so far so good, but I'm not too far in. I'm probably between 5-10hrs. It seems such a serious type of RPG that I am worried that I'll make a blunder which it'll be hard to recover from lol. Timed dialogue windows, hard fights, extremely hard picklocking using controllers and limited saves etc. Funny thing the first time I got arrested, I died in prison haha. But I'm enjoying it.
I didn't know the Devs reacted to it. Is it in the comments? I have to have another look.
@@shanebatten7337 If you look up the recipe for savior schnapps online you can make 3 at once and are kitted out with loads of saves so makes the potential for getting into trouble a lot easier on Kingdom Come, trust me I needed them lol Yeah they put it on their Facebook and hit me up on my Twitter post. There's screenshots on my video after about monetization. Was super impressed they were such good sports about it.
Really like the style of your videos, looking forward to more
That first boss encounter reminds me of the MTG thorn elemental
Not gonna lie, that little bit where Kurt went off to give a like, made me give a like.
Cheers mate
"If the developer will take another swing at the genre"
Oh, Spider have been doing that for years now, this isn't their first rodeo! and I love what they're doing every single time.
btw, on my PS4 playthrough, I didn't encounter any bugs or glitches(except one that fixed itself). but NPCs don't really do anything other than walk around.
You had me at farting out a pine cone
I got this in my recommended. Glad of that. I recently completed it in 40 hours on ps5. I have to say my vote is mixed, not good, not bad. But I have good memories and happy to remember it. The character build is slow but become fine after half of the game, combat system same thing, enjoyable, needs time to give its best. The main story was reallt beautiful and the environement amazing. Just as Technomancer, the game lacks of variety, of skills, of equipment, the places are recycled a lot, side quests are bad despite some companions one. Keep moving to place to place is the worst part of the game, keep running and running just to reach the next quest part. Cities and places are EMPTY. Just stuff to look at. But in the end, pros and cons, I like it, at high difficulties it is very challenging
You had me at "Do you like brown" literally made me lol
My thing with Greedfall is that it appears to me like playing to a Dragon Age spin off. It carries on that atmosphere as for recent gameplay and story-like.
Nice looking game for the most part. Hilarious video as usual! 🥰
Well just found a new channel to sub. Your commentary is hilarious.
Cheers mate, welcome aboard. Much more to come!
The game can be very jank at times but it’s also genuinely charming, in a real way, not just “oh bless its heart”.
Part of it is the novelty of its setting, but also the story was actually quite interesting if somewhat predictable.
The one thing I absolutely never had issues with was maxing reputation with everyone :D
I just wish they had more bosses overall though because they are definitely the highlight of the world
2:10 He's trying to get the jarred pickles off the top shelf. Also, what are you all doing in his house!?
I myself was quite awed by the story I loved it and didnt have much bugs or any broken pathing. Didnt mind the smaller variety of enemies. Actually for me the story was on par with dragon age or mass effect but thats just me.
I actually really enjoyed this game and was really surprised how much I enjoyed the story and quests and how they dealt with colonization and the natives. I romanced Siora and really liked how it was written with a line or two that really stuck out to me. As mentioned, the companion quests were fantastic and engaging. The graphics were impressive for a smaller studio and I'll say I didn't run into nearly any of the issues mentioned here. Overall I'd give it around an 8, but I enjoyed it more than that rating would indicate honestly. I'm hoping the second one comes out better after early access ends.
lol 2 mins in "is he doing that numa numa dance" that is so funny. reference gen z will never get.
I loved the SHRUBBERY! refs from _The Holy Grail._ I didn't realize Brits knew about Python.
What? You didn't know that us Brits knew about a classic, well loved BRITISH comedy group?
You, Sir, are a master of editing!
Cheers mate
Haha, very informative and funny, along with some great editing.
The gold version is on sale for 14 bucks right now. But it seems like it's not really been polished since release. A shame. It's aesthetics look really nice and I had always intended to get back to it once the price dropped.
I liked your video. Love the MPFC references. Liking & Subscribing.
This game is a walk and talk simulation. 90% walking back and forth, 10% combat
How dare you, not mentioning the most important thing about this game...
The Hats... those damned hats. How dare they have so many fancy, fancy hats!
Literally loled at this. And good point! They are glorious
Nice seeing where the game leads, as I'm probably never going to get passed the first boss fight of the game, lol. I'll try again tomorrow
You got this!
@@MitchManix thanks dude!
I truly enjoyed the video, laughed and will most likely get the game. Good work.
went from gameranx to this review, great video man!
I like Greedfall... agree that certain parts could have been done much better, but lets remember Spiders is a relatively small studio, but perhaps with their latest release Steelrising and Greedfall 2 in the pipeline, we are seeing their own development in terms of quality and rating.
Likes:
I liked the main character, felt like an unassuming hero
Story and setting. the look and feel of the towns and wilderness areas were, in general, really well done (a lot of love put into the design)
Music in general
Combat in general; sure, not as many options as other games but interesting and well implemented
Dialogue in general, except maybe having to repeat the same "I'm the Legate... blah blah blah" all of the time
Factions were well implemented and were key to the story
Timeline and player choices; the story is truly impacted by player decisions which gives a surprising amount of customisation during a playthrough
Some excellent, surprising and unforgettable cut scenes [Kurt's major scene, if you play it "right", was outstanding]
I quite like the lite crafting system, it didn't get in the way of the story
Room for Improvement:
Attention to Detail: as mentioned, the bushes [shrubs], but also getting stuck when walking into low hanging signs, small things that break immersion
Companion Relationships could have been developped far more. They are shallow, in my eyes, and getting this right would have lifted the entire gaming experience
Like most RPGs, expecially in a historical setting, I would have liked to see more "realism" in dialogues; some of the richer and poorer NPCs did have a flavour, but more depth, more engaging dialogue in general which could push the main characters buttons, and my own personal gripe is that I always want to see NPCs dialogue change in function of the MC's gender... bring out the realism, push the chauvinism and increase consequences... otherwise RPGs fall into a social blandness.
I bought 2 games in 2022 (I don't do games like Dark Souls etc), Greedfall and Kingdom Come Deliverance, and I thoroughly enjoyed both.
EDIT: one final note, the brown colour effect can be removed with a mod [Nexus].
Glad i picked this game up. After modding the game to my liking i enjoyed it a lot more then i expected. (Modded because i thought the game was to easy). Now ok i payed only like 15 dollars for it but, its just one of those ''Not great but good'' games/rpg's made by a lower budget studio that you can really appreciate. This game game gave me a lot old skool classic rpg vibes to it with skill check system. Most be hard to pull a game like this off and you can really see the devs are passionate about rpg's and game and put a lot of effort into it. If they can improve the game with greedfall 2 that could be great.
I had to pause the video and laugh at the phrase "farting out a pinecone"
What an excellent review, i was debating if i should buy, and i will, but i wait for that discount now ;)
I know I'm late to the party but that wasn't in fact a bugged quest. It asked you to speak to the quartermaster in NEW Serene, the location you sail to initially. I'm 100%ing and haven't run across any bugs yet, beaten 3 bosses, cleared the first arena at lvl 7, found the crafting system pretty cool, but I feel the spec system limits your options heavily early on. No lockpicking or crafting skills means you either talk your way through things or bribe your way through. If all else fails you start swinging but I prefer the diplomatic playstyle. Every rpg game now is just a glorified shooter or skyrim clone with a handful of limited dialogue alternatives to fighting every.single.npc-Greedfall was a nice breath of fresh air in that regard. I wish more games leaned into the idea you can have both an innovative combat system AND a complex story to tell
I discovered some kind of glitch that made my character immortal (and it carried away from save to save) due to arena tutorial mode, it was fairly late in the game to restart, chose the "bad" ending, never looked back
Flawed game but a lot of fun and superb start for what will hopefully be an awesome series one day, Im really looking forward to the second game.
They have announced a sequel to this game, which I'm rather looking forward to, though not necessarily with baited breath.
I think my biggest issue with this game is how empty the world felt. It was a fairly large map that only had around ten to fifteen combat encounters per region, barely any of which involved humans, and all would almost instantly respawn and force you to fight all over again; the only enemies that stayed dead were the bosses. This point is actually explained in lore as the bosses are supposed to be the guardians of the island's ecosystem, each unique (quote, unquote) to their one spot in the wilderness and killing them is supposed to have an impact therein. That's the other big issue: they missed a lot of opportunities to expand on numerous points and give the companions a chance to offer their two cents' worth on topics that they should definitely have had opinions on. I found it good, but sort of half-baked, if that makes any sense.
Also, a personal opinion on the story. The main thing I didn't like about it was the obvious political alignment that came with. There's a myth that real-life native peoples were all these peaceful cultures living in perfect harmony with nature before that had the misfortune of being colonized by greedy, imperialistic powers. The first half of that claim is utter crap: they were divided by generations of war between and within tribes and they only had as much harmony with nature as was needed to ensure the survival of the individual and the group. This game plays up to the myth, even going so far as to claim that the colonists were killing the spirits of their homeland and, by spreading to Tir Fradee, they risked doing the same there. I would've preferred something that featured at least six different native groups to meet and befriend or conquer and the malichor disease be a symptom of how the land the colonists come from is changing to accommodate the new era--an end of the old gods, rise of the new if you will.
These games are an oddity; they'll never amaze, yet i can see how their jank could still offer a certain charm if you're up for it. 😂
Great game from a small studio! While I agree the bugs would be completely unacceptable from a larger studio, I think they did great with r we hat they had and I can’t wait for the prequel…… also yeah the romance options sucks
m lord i have subcribed and rung the bell as ordered XD
The acts of a legend, thank you
Who would have guessed that 8 days after this video comes out greedfall 2 gets announced lol
Think they were waiting for me 😂
Good work Mitch, really enjoyed this video. Surprised you don't have more subscribers as this seemed really professional.
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Just try to make the best content I can
I'm relatively far in the game and haven't had any of the problems with it that you did although that could be because I play on console
I like hearing Robin Williams narration
Is doing a series on, or review of, Star Citizen in your plans?
I'd love to watch that and I'm planning on naming a ship after one of your characters, lol.
100% mate. Tried Star Citizen a little while back and the optimization was hard to manage but I plan on revisiting it soon. Haha love the ship idea too.
@@MitchManix Without trying to give SC a plug, Fleet Week starts in a few days. Chance to try a bunch of ships for free and tour the stoopidly large, capital class Javelin destroyer.
Looking forward to seeing your take on it.
I've only seen this now, but they announced a sequel pretty much a week after you posted this
I enjoyed GreedFall, but I predicted the plot too easily and kinda lost interest in subsequent playthroughs, but this is indeed a good game, worth at least a full single playthrough.
I pre-ordered this game. It just seemed like a cool story, but it got overshadowed by games like Outer Worlds. A cult hit I think It looks and plays 100% better than when first bought it for PS4. They upped the lighting making it less dark which helped and crisped it up. A beautiful game and a real worthy RPG despite some flaws. With cool quests and a DLC it is a fun game.
I never experienced any of the bugs you described, playing on XB
It's wild how many pathing ai issue you ran into. I finished this game last week as I just bought an xbox and got gamepass, and I barely had any issue with the NPC's (except my own party blocking my exit to rooms).
I think you're title sums the game up best. It's janky as hell and some design choices are baffling, but it's a generally fun time that I did see through to the end.
I'd bet it's a PC issue
I subbed purely because I like your humour. I really needed a laugh today, and I appreciate that you were able to give me a few of them. Also, I couldn't decide whether or not to buy this game after seeing the trailer for the sequel just now (looks great, btw) but you helped me make up my mind, so thanks for that too.
More then welcome mate, glad to give you a lift. If u fancy another laugh then I can recommend the Star Trek online vid on the channel. One of my faves and ppl seem to love that one. Hope you enjoy greedfall too!
Man, 2019 feels like last week...
I loved the world of this game but I admit I felt very underwhelmed by the ending.. *SPOILERS* I had all the allies and was expecting more of a "war" for the final area... but every time you were attacked all you had were you companions and like 4-5 people from each faction. That and the continuous back and forth between areas was a little much. I would have preferred more of a focused zone feeling where you'd work primarily with each faction without overlap for several hours; then there'd be that big finale.
I couldn't get into this when i first tried to play gonna give it another shot.
The upcoming sequel seems really exciting, so I hope they can fix the problems the original had
Totally, I’m looking forward to it
Honestly it's imo really good. It's on the level of witcher 3 (well just about), same issues as RDR2 with trying to loot..... I like it. it's like A- Witcher 3. Still pretty good, but not as polished. Facial animations of New Vegas but the reputation system too!! on research, and my experience, this runs 60fps 100% on ps5, perfect. It's so undersold, you'll get the deluxe edition for ps5 for like 20 bucks on amazon. tottally worth it.
I'll be replaying this game, but the only complain I remember was how easy bosses where, with the exception of the very first one.
To me, this is a solid 8/10 game. It's not perfect, but, I really enjoyed my runthrough. Almost got Plat on it, but that'd require me to do more runs, and well... Eh.
For some reason, I was never able to finish the game as I give up perhaps halfway or 3/4 through, mostly due to lost of interest. I've restarted the game 3 times over the years at this point, which is a shame.I did finish Spider's other games though (Technomancer, Mars War Logs, and Bound by Flame)
Character design has been inspired from Dragon Age Inquisition🤔There are many things from Witcher as well;In fact,it's more like a densely mixed soup🤷♂️I like it actually👍But right at the moment,I stuck between Horizon Zero Down and AC Valhalla so I am not quite sure when can I play this seriously🤔It would be obsolete when I will decide to begin🤭
Is it perfect? No. But it does get points for originality.
Greedfall II has been announced for a 2024 release. Hopefully the issues that occurred in the first one will be taken care of.
Very true and looking forward to the follow up
Can we talk about walking and running animation ? It feels so weird, low and buggy sometimes
I remember when Larian made Divinity 2 ego draconis (or whatever it was called) and I felt the same exact way as most people feel about Spider games. It was rough but had potential... Can you imagine like... 5 or 10 years from now, and spider's busting out with their baldurs gate 3, suddenly on top of the RPG world. Only time will tell 🥸
Just got this game for $15 and got to the first boss battle. Shame to hear it drops off in the second half. I was aware of a certain amount of hank in this game beforehand, but I'm willing to give it a go.
Streisberk! I realize this isn’t the best place to ask but could you confirm/deny he is set for his live action debut in “Strange News World”?
haha exactly. In theatres June!
The sides quests were a blast! Loved everyone one of em! Almost! Main story did bottom! Out! But agree! If u can get it on sale! It’s def worth a play through! And there are some camera mods so the trees don’t get in ur way as much! Def recommend! Getting at least a camera mod! For this game!
Genuinely couldn't get into this game.. tried several times, but I just didn't click with me. Probably didn't help that I picked it up just after starting my first playthrough of Outward
I'm now curious to play this game. I'm glad it is on sale for a reasonable price.
I’m still early in my playthrough, but I highly recommend it. It’s great!

@@Anwell100 Looking forward to it
When I played this game about 2/3rds of the way through I felt like they got as sick of making the game as I was of playing it... and the ending verified that thought.
Everyones pathing was mostly ok in my playthrough though... just the lack of new stuff made it all too... bland... and the ending was so abrupt and left me kinda feeling... that's it? I did have some fun with it though, to be fair.
Should I buy this?
I enjoyed my time with this game, I hope the sequel is good.
Oddly enough I had some funny bugs but nothing game breaking. I think the worst part of the game was back tracking and some stories seemed they ended early. But over all its one of my favorite rpgs, though admittedly I'm new to the genre. Looking forward to see what they do with greedfall two.
God I loved this game. I played like the 17th century CIA. Guns OP I ended the game with 1500 bullets.
how do you swap out to different pawns?
I just beat this game a couple weeks ago and was going to do a video of it but I’m not going to top this great game just wish they had more money to work on it and get them bugs and ai better
Bro can you commentary my life please 😂😂😂
Absolutely fair review. Great stuff.
I really wanted to like this game but just like with Technomancer and the one set on Mars (I think maybe that was Technomancer but I've forgotten so much about that game I'm not 100% sure), while they had promising starts I just couldn't bring myself to finish it.
For me it was a few things. The mob repitition - along with the repitition of a lot of things like locations, bosses, phrases the npcs would say... Really brought down my enjoyment of exploration.
I think the main thing was the battle system. I like to play mages in rpgs so of course I concentrated on a magic build when I played. Little did I know that magic in this game played like absolute dogshit.
You have 1 combat "spell", a little blue cloud that has no special effect. It's not a fire so it doesn't burn. It doesn't crackle like electricity. It just pushes the enemy a bit then they fall over.
But that's ok cuz you've got your 1 aoe, an invisible boring push you just spam until things die. Exciting!
And for those that want a little strategy in their spell combat, you have a invisible "hold" spell to lockdown an enemy for a few seconds. It's boring too!
AND THAT'S IT!
It was SOOOO BORING.
Spiders had this problem with Technomancer too. Here I was - an electricity -slinging mutant, and none of my abilities looked or sounded or felt interesting at all.
Compare this to Dragon Age 2. That game was riddled with repetitive mobs, bosses and areas too, but the combat was off the chain. Using magic in that game made me feel like a fucking Archmage. When I brought fire down on my enemies it NEVER. GOT. OLD. It looked, sounded and felt soooo good.
I don't hate the Greedfall dev team. I want them to succees cuz we need more rpgs and theirs are ok and I like they include character creation... But they really need to work on their combat systems.
However after saying all that, your review makes me think maybe I'll give Greedfall another goal. This time.. maybe a pure firearm build. Staying the fuck away from magic
I liked the game overall...but the running...dear god, so much running!!!!
