    This is a very useful video. Thanks for posting. If you know this job well you can do the job with no special tools except a degree wheel, a dial gauge and a couple of flat steel bars with a central hole drilled thru ... but as you say, the kit takes all the risk and hassle out of it and it's not too pricey.

    Just be happy Jaguar put the timing chains on the front side of the engine. I was working on a Touareg Voltswagon /Audi engine that put everything on the rear side and requires pulling the engine, remove the transmission and plate just to get access. It's a terrible design.

      Oh man, that sounds like an awful job.
      I'll definitely pass on one of those.

    Ok bon Travail mais vous auriez pu nettoyer les pièces ( carter ,poulies ) avant montage et mettre courroie et galets neufs ..Cordialement .

    Which cylinder is number 1?
    I understand the cam flat spot but not where TDC is

      @funjunkiegarage  6 місяців тому +2

      #1 is driver side, front of engine.
      TDC is when the #1 piston reaches the very top of its stroke. TDC on the compression stroke is what you want, not exhaust stroke. You can confirm compression stroke by checking the position of the flywheel. It's a very strange method for sure.

      @@funjunkiegarageBy putting the flywheel lock tool in? Thank you very much!
