I legitimately thought this was a modpack for Minecraft until I actually signed-up and downloaded it. After realizing it's its own game I am even happier. With this and Monsters & Memories in development I'm in MMO heaven.
Yeah, this and M&M are hitting the spot right now, excited to have another test weekend so close to the last one.
In spite of the "minecraft" style graphics I still plan on trying this game. Game play above all else.

I have about 20 hours total testing EverCraft online and have to say, it nails the feel; same but different. The music score is top notch too.
The dev team for this game is really nice. ECO and MnM are the most promising old school inspired MMOs on my list!
I'm 25 and I love both games so this will be cool to see. I've been playing lots of EQ over the past month and got my necro to 33. The M&M stress test was a lot of fun but of course I had framerate lag more than anything. That intro music kinda sounds like Qeynos and the Osgul theme sounds like Warcraft 1's Human 1 theme.

I played in the last test and it was a lot more fun than I was expecting. It really does feel like EverQuest but with improvements to stuff like crafting, combat, and class design.
I played in their test a few weeks ago, and honestly had a really great time. It was not all that laggy (although they surely are getting more coverage for this test, and more and more people are joining the Discord every day, excited to test). The graphics were not at all a deterrent for me, and I found the world SUPER charming and really refreshing. It's a little rough around the edges, being a pre-alpha and all, but it was still a lot of fun, and I am very much looking forward to this weekend!

If the gameplay is good and the art direction is consistent, I could see myself playing this quite a bit. Voxel worlds allow for insane amount of creativity, because they are limiting but also very open in terms of what you can do.
I prefer blocky/cartoonish graphics over realistic ones. Thanks to you, I didn't know about this game.

Never heard of this before, but I'm definitely going to check out the test. If it's good I hope it succeeds, I've been waiting for an oldschool style MMO for what feels like forever, but they almost always flounder and fail. I really want at least one of them to take off. I do think the voxel look of it will actually help in that regard, even if I'm also not a big fan of that visual design
This is so awesome! I saw a few twitch EQ streamers playing this on an early test, a year or two ago. Was bummed I couldn't try it at the time, so it's great to finally check it out! BTW, I've never played Minecraft either! Honestly thought I was the last one. 🤣
Wait until I tell you that I haven't played Runescape either.....

Never once did I play Minecraft with the graphics in mind. I played it for the game play.
This MMO looks cool. I might give the alpha a look this weekend.
Odd fact. Voxels are actually more intensive for most machines to render. Something about the math done under the hood is more favorable to triangles instead of squares. Most modern 3d game models are actually a crap ton of tiny tiny triangles. I am still a novice in programming, and only have a little experience with 2d rendering. But I know that much.
I’m not sold on the graphics but I tested this earlier and loved the old EQ vibe. This has shot to the top of my MMO wishlist 😁
Never had any interest in Minecraft, and by extension, its aesthetic, but I will keep an eye on this. Hoping there will be some streams of this test that I can catch.

I am going to give it a look. I agree there are many action-based MMORPG, but that is because people buy into it. Companies will not invest in a slower more strategic playstyle as they want profit. So it falls to us to support indy devs and that does not mean showering them with money (though that would help) but be patient, don't start shouting that looks like it came out in 2012! Tell other people about the product, and if you get the chance play test and give feedback.
I have already told my EQ friends (who I still speak to after 25 years) about Evercraft Online. Good luck to all who play.

if they had that area instead of the human area I'd definitely be trying that, but I can't resist trying the ogre area...
Hi! Dark Elfs home city is quite some distance from Leont and not part of the test, that said, for visual diversity we have them active as human proxies. That's all to say, you can certainly be a Dark Elf Necromancer! Just note for now, you'll be treated as a human. And of course, many people will despise you so prepare for a challenging life. So is the cost of mastering the Dark Aspect. See ya tomorrow!
I really enjoyed the game at the last open alpha test. I haven't ever got into Minecraft at all but this scratched that EQ itch in a new way, Going to have fun this weekend. See you then! Since I can't go gnome I'll try ogre this time.

What MMO was in the opening scene that made you sad? I'm assuming it's something that was cancelled?
Everquest made a mine-craft like MMO called Everquest Landmark where you could craft and create things. It launched then was quickly shut down amid turmoil before the company got sold off for the first time.

Im not a fan of the Minecraft look at all myself, but I am 100% going to try it out. Could it be the "EQ-Lite" I always wished for? If anything, the game play made me smile.

I'll give it a go for a lark. But I, too, am not a fan of the blocky aesthetic. Though that Cube Moon is hilarious to me and I unapologetically love it.

Not exactly true. The graphics make it extremely easy to run even on a potato PC like my 10 yr old nephew has. This indeed makes it wildly more popular by being accessible. This is exactly part of how WoW took over the MMO landscape.
Accessibility & UX are the most important components to any video game's popularity.
There is a reason games like Crisis, Ultima IX, or Vanguard had an abysmal playerbase compared to Facebook Games, Mobile Games, Web Games, WoW, and Runescape.
In fact what killed Vanguard was simply the fact no one could run the game. The average playtime was like 12 minutes bc over 200,000 players bought the game and most of them couldnt even run it.
Meanwhile Runescape was even more accessible than WoW. Every kid played it.
I'm having a hard time picking between Teek (EQ1) and Origins (EQ2) where will you be?
I plan to try both. There should be I think about a month in between. Teek launches in May, Origins (eq2) launches in June I believe.
would be nice if it served to bring in some minecraft players into the mmo space.

We had the WoW Fornite and now this EQ minecraft? I love them devs doing this awsome stuff, even if its not my cup of tea.
Really excited about this. I love the old Everquest style, where each level felt like you accomplished something within the game and there was risk in adventuring.

yeah if it wasn't for my kid, i wouldn't of played Minecraft n id be like u. its was fun for me for about 2minutes
We are so looking forward to this title, mind you not as much as monster and memories. I believe and lead our team towards a unity engine. We will bring fidelity as high as we possibly can yet its not our focus. Our focus is the game play and the fun. I learned over years some real ugly games gave me so much FUN! I believe with all my heart run was what was chopped out to make money. Once again would love to have moments of your time but hey... I also totally agree and want the sound of penance to be a real part of the whole world.
I hate Unity Games.
Not bc theyre almost always ugly. It's the performance.
Evercraft Online should give you 2000fps on a low end gpu.
Instead we get 30fps on a 4090 ti. Because of Unity.
Unity games are so bad...if you want to know just HOW bad, youtube "Unite 60 smooth fps INSIDE developers". 2 dedicated programmers having to hack the engine for 2 years and buy source access just to achieve a smooth 60fps in a super low gfx game. It is even worse than they describe too. I know. I worked with Unity for over a decade. It is so bad underneath the spaghetti.
@@nowayjosedaniel Um I got 300 fps on my 3440x1440 monitor ma man and it was wonderful. My xfx 7900 xtx ate it up
Thanks for the early definition of what this is. Have a Like for honesty. But... I'm out... voxel engine without voxel manipulation... hard pass.
This is going to be their biggest problem.
Their minecraft art style is going to repel adults and attract INSANE numbers of kids.
Kids who will expect Voxel manipulatuon and building. Who will be disappointed it wont be in the game.
Even worse, this will become so standard the ALREADY toxic elitists from p1999 who make up this game's community... a community who ALREADY just this weekend lash out incredibly aggressively to anyone who wants some minecraft building...they will become even more elitist and intolerant of all the minecraft kiddies who join and "insult" their game.
So you will have this flood of enormous numbers of new players, who will immediately feel they got tricked via bait and switch, and a toxic community of 40 year old p1999 vets who will brutally roast them and seethe at their every entrance.
It is a recipe for a very violent tornado. 40 year old p1999 vets who want slow motion EQ1 vs 13 year old minecraft kiddies with adhd spoiled by modern UX.

The sad thing is I know this for a fact. I saw the p1999 players constantly troll probably over a hundred ppl who said they wish there was some voxel manipulation.
I even saw over 20 people tell one minecraft fan to essentially F off without the profanity but with all the aggression of profanity. It was wild.
I had to remain silent. I never spoke a word. Just read chat. They were brutal.

Original EQ wasnt blocky though. It was cutting edge gfx at the time. Low poly, not voxel. Huge difference IMO.
Monsters & Memories is doing things right. 2024 version of EQ1 style, without the 1990's polygon level.

The environments are beautiful. If they just had real character models, it would work. The voxel characters is beyond ugly.

This style does not "appeal to younger gamers" I played EQ on launch and minecraft in alpha. It's a very false stereotype that minecrafty graphics primarily appeal to children. For the first 2 years minecraft was only played by adults.
Its more about minecrafts reach and how it has also been helped by an astronomically large content creator group that does appeal to a younger demographic. Doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed by everyone and it's not a knock on minecraft either.

You must be out of touch with the kids market. You are 100% wrong. Minecraft style is 100% a kids graphic style.
Minecraft and Roblox are played by literally every kid in the world, essentially. Adults? Almost none by comparison.
Even 4 year olds play minecraft. They stick with it until their teens, where they drop it for more adult games or quiting gaming.

The only people that think the game is for kids are the people that judge solely on graphics and who haven’t actually played the game. As I said, the first 2-3 years of Minecraft didn’t even any kids playing the game, it was all adults….
