There is never a need to wash a plant's Roots unless there is root rot or disease. Your plant will make its way into the new the soil. You should try to disturb the roots as little as possible ! It will re-establish itself so much faster and will not go through the the stress that a plant who's had its roots completely Disturbed and all the soil rinsed off will go through . 🤔 It always amazes me when they still called plant experts tell viewers to do this the healthy the only need to be repotted because they've outgrown their pots ? Trust me I've been growing and repotting plants before I could fully walk ! Lol well maybe that last part is a little bit of stretch. But my mom had me helping her with her gardening and house plants from as far back as I could. I mean I have a UA-cam channel but I do know a thing or two about plants !❤❤️
I just recently started chopping up vines that needed cutting for 3 years. The runners are insane and gave me so much anxiety. I feel better now that I've gotten some done. I try not to let the wet stick situation overwhelm me but there's tons 😩 My advice when doing leaf cuttings in water for future soil potting is to semi hydro with leca or gritty substrate. The roots are more vigorous than straight water roots and they transition easier. I also like to attach the vine to the pole first. Not all will reach. I will be making some over the holiday wkn. I have runners in sphagnum in ziplocks. I'll have plenty for trade come spring.
For all the "that’s not a moss poll “ comments; if you search moss poll on Amazon, eBay or anywhere online this is what pops up; the very reason I bought moss and made my own, so I know it’s not a moss poll but it’s what is is sold as..
Really informative. Will try a lot of these tips next time I repot my pothos. They’ve been doing pretty well when I repot but I’ve been winging it and now feel like I have more concrete info
Thank you for posting this excellent video. I have a pothos that has not been doing very well, it was severely potbound and had needed repotting for quite a long time. I repotted it about 2 weeks ago, and yes, I used the RepotMe Pothos soil. Today I skimmed an email from RepotMe which features this video. Thank you for teaching me about moss poles. I never thought to use one. I also like the large green container you use for doing the actual repotting. I may try a moss pole if I have the chance to repot another pothos.
Hi Robert, it's nice to hear a man enjoying growing indoor plants. I just wanted to reach out to you to let you know you don't need any kind of special soil that probably cost a lot of money. It's not hard to make your own pothos specific soil. It's not rocket science. But it probably is a fraction of the price of plants specific potting soil. And no offense to this lovely young lady but this is how UA-camrs make money by having companies sponsor their products. Buy a bag of generic indoor potting soil or one of the best potting soils is Fox but on the price to your side, a bag of perlite, and a bag of orchid bark . And then you do 6 scoops of potting soil 6 scoops of orchid bark and two scoops of perlite . Mix it together and you got the perfect potting soil for pretty much every plant you will ever own other than maybe cacti . Most people kill their plants with too much love by overwatering ! It's hard but you need to kind of ignore them and at times neglect them a little bit . Not that underwatering is a good thing but it won't kill a plant nearly as fast as overwatering it will . Enjoy your plant !
@@eveolszewska1975 Hi Eve! Thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment, I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. Yes, I do have an interest in growing plants. I did not have any success with the pothos I mentioned above. The stem seemed to die. Then one tiny leaf emerged after some weeks. Then this leaf died, and the rest of the stem shriveled up and turned brown. Perhaps I gave the plant too much sunlight. I will try again -- I notice that someone in my workplace has a nice looking pothos. I will ask permission to take a cutting. I will definitely make the soil mix that you describe above. I will report my results to you, and I will keep trying for a successful pothos plant. Thanks again for telling me how to make my own mix, and thanks so much for taking the time to post it for me. Have a wonderful day....Bob
Do you keep any of your pothos or other plants in water or semi hydroponics? I’m so freaking tired of pests! No matter what I use (neem, traps, spinosad, sulfur, hydrogen peroxide), I still see them crawling around!! I was considering switching to leca but I don’t want to kill my plants lol
My hand me down pothos came without drainage holes and had gotten quite long, but is now shedding leaves/turning yellow. It’s turning to winter where I live, so I know repotting isn’t ideal. Any tips? I’ve had this plant for 2+ years so I’m really hoping to save it!
I’m in the same situation as you I’ve had mine for a year and it’s winter and it’s dying and the soil is like gone on the sides so idk what to do repot or just refill

Which variety of pothos was the first plant you repotted? 4:48
Epipremnum pinatum albo
My pothos always eventually get so spindly.
❤️❤️❤️
Embarrasing - it's not a moss pole ! It´s coir.
