I just test drove the qx80 and loved it in the scenery trim but this top Nissan trim will give me everything I want for probably $20k less and no premium gas ❤
Cant lie, Im impressed. They really nailed a lot of key details. Truthfully, Nissan has been quietly revamping its whole lineup. Not too many bad offerings there anymore.
I've got a soft spot for nissan. My first vehicle was an 87 pathfinder, very high mileage and falling apart by the time it got to me but still loved it. Had a friend with a 240sx, loved that one too. I hope this is the beginning of a comeback for them.
I look at this and can't help but wonder why Nissan decided to kill the Titan- that interior (and the new engine) would have addressed most of the complaints with the truck.
Because a 3rd gen Titan would have to be developed and designed in the US and it’s poor sales didn’t justify the expense of redesigning it, instead they should spend their development costs on a new Xttera
@@chezzyperson3339I don't think they'll need to do a lot of development, since it will be based on the Armada. All they'll need to worry about is building them in North America.
Nissan V-6 engines and VQ engines are legendary. I will miss their 5.6 Endurance, which is probably the most dependable V8 ever made. I have 300k on my Titan and a friend of mine was at 550k miles.
I was just saying this too! Not sure how people can claim the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade are unattractive while everyone copies their design language. I think Nissan has leaned way too far into Chevrolet/GMC’s styling here though. The interior looks ok but this looks like a cheap Tahoe/Yukon on the exterior.
Never owned a Nissan. I'm looking at his over a Lexus GX550. More room here, 4 low... cameras... more room... better AC... great interior. Just wonder what the gas mileage is going to be and how truly "off-road worthy" the Pro-4x will be.
Thank you for acknowledging this vehicle with such a "world view". Being in North America (USA) we get such a USA-centric view of things, however manufacturers are global. Many markets influence one another and I don't think that's talked about enough. Love this PRO4X, however I don't think I'll be able to afford one.
It’s a step in the right direction but the Tahoe and Expedition are going to offer more space and better tech. They both sell 5x better than the Armada.
I like how Alex and Redline seem to be professionally chummy with each other. They seem to team up at industry events. Automotive UA-cam is a competitive space. Nice to see everyone being civil with each other. Although I imagine the guys at SavageGeese hate everyone.
I have a 2021 Tacoma Off Road long bed that i've tricked out and i hate the new Toyota offerings. I'm interested in the Pro 4x Armada even over the gx550 because of the over all size and luxury to go with the off road features. Just wondering about that gas mileage.
The US finally gets a locking rear differential? That's a step the the right direction. And, I believe this is the first Off Road trim 3-row with a bench in the 2nd row (Pathfinder Rock Creek, Pilot Trail Sport, Sequoia TRD Off Road, etc.).
Great job, Alex (and Sofyan)! This is what the Sequoia should have been. We have a second-generation Sequoia and are so disappointed in the third-generation one. Hopefully, they price it less than the GM twins and third-generation Sequoia. Nissan has to out-compete the competition on both price and features to regain their footing, in my opinion.
The only change that i can see that i like is the addition of the rear diff lock. Things that suck: V8 gone, no more shift lever, Auto start/stall technology, no more real guages, no more parking brake pedal?, V8 gone, And if they switched to electric power steering then at also sucks. Think i will be hanging on to my '22 armada for a long time.
I had Geolanders on my Frontier Pro4X and ran snowmobile/ATV trails (with the appropriate permit) in Eastern Ontario from May to October. They are extremely capable tires.
Nobody is going to be taking their $80k gigantic SUV off road any further than a flat dirt or gravel road. Basically just far enough to get to the glamping site. They just want a mall crawler that looks like it could go off-road, so the wheel and tire choice on this tank is appropriate. If they put wheels/tires that were actually appropriate for off-road use (let alone the suspension for it) people would complain about it.
I've taken my Wagoneer off road many times hunting. Not rock crawling but I've been stuck in mud and snow, used 4 low a few times. Admittedly, I will say that more soccer moms drive these large suvs then taking them off road like I do.
That's way too much cheap looking gloss black materials. Especially on a more "off-road" oriented vehicle. You know it's going to all look horrible with dust and scuffs. Yeah, I just can't do it.
baffles me why nissan thinks ARMADA is the better name.... just call it the PATROL! in the world the PATROL is PRESTIGOUS and CLASS! they should have just called this the PATROL in the USA MARKET and got rid of the Armada name....
Finally Nissan is bringing back the bench seat for their higher trim. It was baffling why SL had captain chairs when most sold are for families. Talk about being of the mark.
I really wish Nissan can build a strong proper suv like back in the day GU Patrol Y61. Needless to tell how I feel about these newer V6 twin turbos. On vehicle manufacturers point its a good business as they won't last long and people will buy new vehicles sooner.
If I ask for a more capable armada that’s what I’d want, not some different trim on a separate model than the one I’d want. They should all be more capable.
I take my SUVs off-road. I’m not a fan of 20” wheels. Nor am I a fan of black wheels. My LX came with stupid 21” wheels. I quickly replaced those with some 18” wheels off a Sequoia. Push button shifters are a dealbreaker for me. No thank you very much.
I like it, except cargo capacity. Really only the same as many mid-size crossovers, despite 8-10" longer. And much less than minivans. That and the price are big detractors for this vehicle class.
Hybrid battery pack + solid rear axle...it's impossible for a flat cargo area with that combination. Toyota should have stuck to the independent rear suspension of the previous generation Sequioa.
@@damilolaakanni I prefer the older sequoia because it’s a better vehicle than the current one. Bulletproof v8 and transmission, and a lot more room, and better quality too. The new one is complete garbage. The current sequoia is already outdated while the older one is a lot more modern
It’s not impossible for Toyota to have a flat floor. They choose not too, by using the dinosaur nickel hydrate battery instead of a much smaller lithium battery.
Shiny piano black open-spoke wheels? No, thank you. If you actually ever take this thing off-road, have fun cleaning the mud off the spokes and brakes.
They have the QX80 and QX60 which are both great choices in their respective segments, especially compared to the Lexus LX and TX, but their smaller models have just been neglected or outright discontinued (Q50). They need to do a thorough refresh or redesign of those models if they want to survive and thrive.
It being tuned for regular gas and not having to use premium is such an underrated feature.
Especially when the vehicle gets poor fuel economy.
Hopefully it’s similar to the prior VK56 where premium was still the recommended option and gave a slight bump in performance because of it.
Most luxury car makers would argue that the premium fuel is required to lower NVH in the cabin. Lexus would say it is a smoother engine.
Alex, We have to credit Nissan for that sliding, 40/20/40 second row. Far too many expensive SUVs are missing those highly useful features these days.
my 2019 expedition has it

Nissan is developing a Frontier-like PHEV (one-ton pickup according to Nissan) for North America with Mitsubishi, if it helps.

That PRO 4X with a rocky ridge kit with a 2 inch lift 😍
Don't care for black wheels. And 17 or 18" wheels would be better.
Can't wait to see how the refreshed Tahoe and Expedition compete with this.
I love the look of the Tahoe. $$$$ tho
It’s a step in the right direction but the Tahoe and Expedition are going to offer more space and better tech. They both sell 5x better than the Armada.
@@DeadAir21 but the expedition only has the slimmest of margins when it comes to space compared to the Armada for total cargo volume (excluding the L)
The patrol has a small refrigerator in the central arm rest. Which is huge deal in hot climates.

Wow what is stylish design is that
Can’t wait until the Arabs put 1100 HP in this!
Looks better than the QX80!
Please
I think I like the QX80 front better but I like the rear of the Armada I think a bit more.
The QX80 looks a bit better, in my opinion, but the lack of fog lights, although there are placeholders for them, is a deal breaker for me.
An armada was the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. And all these big boats fit the pattern.
Easily accommodating nachos and lemonheads while pulling your dad's boat!
