  • Empirical testing is back in From the Depths with some fire resistant armour tests to see if the fire resistance in some armour types is worth it and what is the most efficient way to protect against fire.

    Another benefit of using wood (or other flammable, low resistance materials) near high resistance materials is that the fuel that they add to the fire has the same intensity as their resistance, so they might bring the average intensity down by the time it gets to the high resistance material.

      Yeah, layering wood with ha is probably a pretty decent fire protector actually... Perhaps there is a place for checkerboard after all 😂

    Fire can climb around the outside. When it has a high enough ratio of remaining fuel to fire size it spreads without needing to break blocks.
    If people are using flamethrowers people commonly supply them with enough oxidiser to burn underwater for most of their lifespan. You did use a rather tiny ratio of oxidiser to fuel*intensity for demonstrating how effective it was.

      @@whwhwhhwhhhwhdldkjdsnsjsks6544 yes since testing i did only supply some oxy to help the flames, but indeed a flamer adapted to burn underwater is a completely different beast, this test is more general, flor aps, missile and cram incendiaries as well as laser burning effect.

    You gotta be carefull when testing flame damage on small scales like that
    The fire can spread around the open area and burn the wooden blocks that connect to more flame resistent ones making them fall off

      yes indeed, when wood is structural one will have extra issues, but as seen the fire does not spread as much as one might expect it to

      like it should be exponential but it kinda isn't

      @@GMODISM if you put enough fuel into an area with neighboring blocks it will sprad without killing the block which can cause it to burn arround the pillar

      actually i would expect it spred more like emp, like if you build a HA and wood stick together, logic says entire wood must burn with minimal HA damage, but in game HA next to wood sponges half of the fuel and protects wood.

    Is fire maybe a viable counter to paper mache? (big 1m thick sheet of wood 4m triangle corner)

    I'm curious what the best ratio for things like missiles for things like intensity are. Too much intensity and I seem to miss out on fuel and damage potential.

      @GMODISM  Місяць тому

      @@CrayvenCarnage depends on what you are targeting, the intensity should be close to the armour block the enemies use, make sure your missiles are VLMs that come from high if you have lower intensity, so they hit the usually weaker decks. Against DWG you need no intensity added
