It will be interesting, take care Scott
Hello Scott, I recently found my 'Grow It' kit in a box, it was an old present from a couple of years ago. I watered the disc and placed into a dry growing pot as you recommended. I have just used the one bag of seeds and plan to sow the rest in the near future. I just wanted to thank you for your helpful video and send my best wishes hoping that you are happy and healthy in this peculiar year. kind regards... dan, shropshire
@@LetsDoBonsai Thanks for the reply! I haven't had any growth as of yet but I have gathered some acorns and roots have started to emerge... I've potted them and got them outside... Any recommendations for next steps?
Can't wait to see what pops up.
can’t wait to try my kits, thanks for the video :)
Best of luck with yours - let me know how youget on.
Another fun bonsai kit. I dig it my friend. I look forward to seeing them all start popping up....ps...Nigel is a cutie.
@@LetsDoBonsai starting from seed never gets old. I love your weekly review of the different kits. 😎😎😎
Thanks for the link to the kit.
@@LetsDoBonsai Thank you kind sir
Got one as a bday gift today had to come here for info 😂 Planted tonight so let's see how it goes... Liked and subbed to
These are probably the most popular kit, best of luck and keep me posted, im always interested to see how people get on.
Had this as a present at christmas, I have watched a followed how you have done it. Absolute newbie to the sowing world. Fingers crossed. 🤞🏻
Scott Winnard I will definitely keep you updated. 😊
I have one tiny little shoot appeared.
@@GE-bk8xk any updates a year on?
Our Bonsai kits are different. It has one seed but it comes with a one species of tree, and a little bonsai pot. And a little pellet as well as instructions but it's really minimal.
Very strange i have heard similar from others that some kits from different places appear to be different - hope yours does well
Have been wondering if these types of kits were any good, hope it works out and we get to see the progress
great! thank you so much
Thank you for your videos! I've placed seeds in soil one week ago and today I saw that the pot got all moldy. Can you please recommend how to fix that?
omg what a great video thanks for uploading -- i followed your instructions and have planted my seeds - what would you recommend was the best way to water them - daily?? when the soil's dry?? (I didn't get instructions in mine lol)
I’m a few months past the sow by date, but what put me off for so long was the instructions were so fricking confusing. So I thought I’ll search it up and try it even if it doesn’t work
Well i hope it works for you, try and give the seeds a good 48 hour soaking and as long as they are not floating and sitting nicely at the bottom you should be ok, some seeds last for years
im here for the cat :)
Hi Scott, my bonsais have been in the window for about 2/3 weeks now and some seedlings have emerged. The instruction booklet that came with the kit is not too great! Any idea what to do next? Do I still put them in the fridge if seedlings have already emerged? Thanks
Hi! I’ve got one of these kits and have recently taken the seedlings out of the fridge and put on the window cill. When do I remove the plastic bag? There are about 3 small seedlings in there? Thanks
you can start opening the bag as the start reaching but do try to keep the humidity the bag provides also keep the soild damp but not wet.
Is there a update to how these went?
Just started mine now and with the same kit so thank you for this, I’ve seen you mention air flow? How did you manage this within the bag? I was thinking to just cut a small incision in the side of the bag? Or should I just let it breath every few days?
Thank you
Scott Winnard thanks Scot, so I’m at 2 weeks mark today and I’ve a has a shoot appear, do I still go ahead with the refrigerator process as the growing instructions state remove the bag when seedlings emerge and transport outdoors.
A few of my seeds have sprouted, do I put them all in separate pots or do they grow and form together? (Never grown then before)
On the last page of the instruction booklet it says that you have to plant your seeds as soon as possible. How long can I wait until they die? Can they still grow for example after 6 months?
You have come a long way since this video ....
Thanks Michael it’s a been a while since that video lol
It’s a bit weird they didn’t say what species the seeds where. I guess time will tell and we will have to all wait in excitement to see
Lovely video and very helpful. I have just put the seeds in and I've placed them at the window. I know that the soil needs to be kept moist so does that mean I should water/mist it every so often for the next three weeks while (hopefully!) the seeds will grow? 😊🌳
Keep an eye on the soild and dont allow it to fully dry out, depending on your environment you will quick discover a watering cycle that will maintain the soil as damp - but not too wet. Happy growing
@@LetsDoBonsai Ah ok great, thank you.
HOT WATER MAKES IT EXPAND REALLY FAST
Cheers!
Hi great video! I've got some questions though..Should I perforate the bag?, Do I water it while it's in the fridge? And I keep seeing that people have soaked the seeds over night? Is that necessary or can I put them straight in the soil??
@@LetsDoBonsai thank you for the advice and fast reply :) hopefully it goes well
Do you remove plastic covering after some have sprouted..? Or just leave it for a while more to see if more sprout?
I left mine in the plastic until they had grown for a good period and keep the humidty in the bag as the seedling gets too big for the bags i look to remove them.
Do I need to water them while they’re sealed in the polythene bag? If so how often would you recommend?
I never really needed to water mine too much when in the bag as it reatins the moisture - just keep checking and make sure the soil stays a bit damp (not wet)
Do you water them while in the plastic bag and left in the window for 2-3 weeks? If so how often? Thanks
Scott Winnard thank you!
Good video. subbed.
I'm about to try the same kit so wish me luck
Best of luck i hope you get some good results, keep me posted.
I started this. Mine sprouted, i then put the bonsai pot in the fridge for 3-4 weeks. Only a couple days after removing from fridge it looks like my sprouts are flopping. Maybe dying?? Does anyone know what to do at this stage? I watered the pot a little after removing from fridge, maybe that has had a negative effect..
If you had growth in the frdige it would of been best to remove from the firdge to allow the seedlings to grow, the fridge is just to break the seed and allow them to germinate, if they germinate they dont want to be in the frodge.
That's the last thing I need
Do you keep watering when it’s in the fridge and also when it’s in the bag at the start?
Very rarely will you need to water while they are in the fridge, just keep an eye on the soil and make sure it doesnt dry out and just give a spray if needed.
Do I have to water it whilst it is in the bag and in the fridge?? And if so for how long?
Initial spray/water to dampen the soil, then check every two days or so and make sure the soil stays damp, give an extra spray of water if its too dry - just dont let the soil get wet just keep it damp.
Do u need to keep watering the soil over the 2-3 weeks?
Hi Craig, just keep checking the soild and make sure it staus damp, if it dries out or starts drying out give it a spray to dampen it back up, but dont let it get too wet.
Did this work?
Nigel really stole the show
Hi! Thanks for sharing ur video. Just planted mine, decided to do them all.
I Got the same pack as you but The seeds looked flaky :/ Did yours seem that way?
Any help greatly appreciated as I fear I have just planted all of them and they all looked broken :(
P.s Nigel is brilliant! Stole the show ;)
Some seeds did seem a bit damaged or cut across the seed itself, some seeds do look like flakes though aswell.
@@LetsDoBonsai I have managed to get 2 baby shoots come up!! So chuffed! Ur video helped me so much!! Will keep you updated!!
@@stephanod610 - Brilliant - best of luck with the little ones.
Can anyone help I’ve down the first step I put it in a bag and left it it’s been 2 weeks and I have a stem sprouting do I still put it on the fridge I don’t wanna kill it
you could remove the growth part as carefully as possible and plant into a small pot and place in a north facing window preferably, the rest can then go into the fridge for stratification.
@@LetsDoBonsai will it do damage if i put all of it in the fridge anyway and don’t remove the growing part?
@@juliachanel1935 - i owuld imagine the growing part would die off if left in the fridge, i dont think it will be able to go dormant like a tree would so i would be tempetd to fish out the germinated seed and plant on in a pot and keep on a north facing window if you can.
@@LetsDoBonsai alright thank u so much !!
Can you show the size of seed 0:57
Do i need to put it in a bag in the fridge
In the bag moisten the soil then into the fridge for stratification, checking to make sure it hasnt germinated, if it germinates take it out and move on to the next step.
I got them mixed up with other seeds
Just got this kit how did it go??
This is probably the most popular kit out there at the moment - i had success with the pines but not much with the rest but im sure you will see good success, good luck and let me know how you get on
Hi, do you water the bonsai when they are in the cover plastic seal? If so, how much and when?
@@LetsDoBonsai thanks mate! And I will do
I have 4 seedlings growing in one pot
Excellent - pot them on when they show their truw leaves and are about 2-3 inches tall
Nigel is sweet as man
Now I don't need spend money
Correct!!!
Does it work ?
Okay thanks :)
Sir can some one do bonsai plant growing business on mass scale and if yes is it good profitable ??
I would imagine it can be done and would be profitable however there are a large number of imported trees that come in from China that are about 7yrs old on average and they are sold for a lm affordable price. So how profitable it is I wouldn’t like to say.
@@LetsDoBonsai Chinese bonsai 7 years old trees roughly costs how much and for how much tree there is the market for.
@@neeljain9619 Prices can vary but if you look on Amazon that will give you an idea - id say 20 -30 pounds/dollars
Did it work?
@@LetsDoBonsai thank you
Any news on this?
@@LetsDoBonsai thanks for the reply. I just got this kit today and did the first stage... touch wood I get a sapling.
@@LetsDoBonsai thanks mate and I will do!
Just got a kit also thanks for your video. Cant wait to see you update video also 😁
@@LetsDoBonsai I've got roughly 4 little sprouts in my second pot. Transferred into the fridge this week. I ended up putting all the seeds in a cup of water to see which germinated and only s few did.
Also I planted an acorn and its grown about 3 inches since October. So I'm going to try and bonsai that.
@@LetsDoBonsai sure will. Thanks mate.
Nis cat
Hi Scott thanks for this video, my wife bought me this kit for my 30th but never got round to doing it until today! (Birthday was September). I’ve put mine in a north facing window, will make sure it remains damp but not wet. After 3 weeks, do you have to put it in the fridge regardless or is that only if nothing has sprouted? Many thanks. 👍🏼🪴
If something sprouts you wouldn’t want to put it in the fridge - if nothing sprouts then put it in the fridge for stratification
Best of luck
Did this work?
We had some success, more with the Pines than anything else but yes it did work.
