- Right from the get-go the A380 has been an impressive aircraft and never failed to attract a crowd and turn a few heads. Love it or hate it, there's no denying that the sheer size of this plane is seriously impressive.
Emirates' A380s are a common sight at Melbourne, operating 3 services a day. Just recently our 3rd flight was upgraded from the B777 to the A380, making Melbourne an "A380-only base for Emirates" On top of regular appearances, many of their special liveried ones come in often which spices things up!
These flights all take place early in the morning and in the evening which is perfect for photography since the lighting is always favorable and the heat distortion is less intense.

Wonderful compilation of Emirates A380's. There was an almost other worldly feeling scene - landing at dusk (???). On final -EEF, started out with a medium grey cloudy sky, and then transitioned quickly into a black sky background. That was really bizarre. I backed up the time line, just to watch it again. One of the captains made quite a smooth landing - late afternoon arrival.

Thanks mate! I think I know which one you're referring to. The black background is actually trees but the low shutter speed I was filming with makes it blurry and hard to tell!
Wow mate, the last two videos were incredible. Emirates are by far up there as my favourite airline, having a huge fleet of A380’s and serving Melbourne with all A380’s. Well done, huge like!

Great idea for this compilation and great to see a variety of angles included as well with the differing liveries of the EK A380 fleet as well. That first close up was insane and the Wildlife Livery departure lit like a Christmas tree. Stunning! Liked!
Thanks mate, tried to keep it diverse as possible to keep each clip interesting in its own way! The first spot featured is unbelievably hard, they fly past so fast! Shocked to see the footage turned out as well as it did. The night wildlife takeoff was lit up really well, even without the inspection lights!

Enjoying the Emirates A380s. :) Yes Melbourne is an A380-only Route for Emirates as are Sydney, JFK, LAX, San Francisco, Houston and Bangkok. Auckland was an Emirates A380-only route but Emirates have stopped the Trans-Tasman A380 routes as the daily nonstop Auckland A380 Route is in high demand as well as Emirates new daily Dubai-Bali-Auckland 777 flights.
So happy to see Melbourne joining all those world class cities that are A380 only airports for EK!

I think they're starting construction on the third runway next year. Would be awesome if you filmed it.
Yeah that sounds about right. It's a slow process so filming won't be too exciting. Might be able to create a time lapse over the years its being built if you can still access the road closest to it

Seriously impressive! The A380 always was and always will be king of the skies! Imagine what the Wright brothers would've thought if they knew about this 620 ton jet that despite its size, travels one mile in just under five seconds when cruising!
