Just installed on my pickup. Haven't commented on a video, but specifying which wires to tap into and where you ran wiring saved me a headache. Really appreciate it!
Thanks for the video. I installed this on a 2020 frontier. Did it the exact same way and it worked without any issues.
Thanks for the heads up! Turning the tailgate lock with the slide out key from the ‘20 keyfobs is unergonamically annoying. Good to know this kit will work!
How long did it take you on the 2020v
I am about to installed on mine 🤪
I installed this same power lock system and your video helped a ton. I have a 2013 Pro4x i bought and never noticed that my key didn't work or lock was damaged. Love how it feels to have my box of toos, change of clothes and harness safety locked up.
Cheers for this brief and concise video. In the first three minutes, I figured out what was the problem and got my tailgate lock re-secured so it would again lock. GREAT VID!
WOWZA! I bought my 2019 SV 4x4 in the fall of 2021 with 9,000 miles on it for $30k. The market really isn't what it used to be and it changed so quick.
The video was spot on and very helpful, especially the "B" pillar electrical tie in. Thank you!
Yup that saved me a lot of time, Thanks Matt... Subscribed
I agree with the rest of these guys, thank you, I just installed it on my 2019 SV couldnt be happier I appreciate it take care
Thanks for this. I just installed this on my truck and this video made it a lot easier. This should be a lot more convenient.
Excellent tutorial, I stalled it on my 2017 sv.
Wow, great video. Saved me a lot of time and trouble over the single-sheet instructions that came with the actuator. Thank you sir!
I am happy I stumbled across your video series! I can't wait to mod the bumper.
18 k, you got a good deal.
2021 Nissan Frontier, I used a 2006-2013 pop & lock model PL8450 as you recommended and it worked.perfect. I also followed the wires and splice into the same wire colors all turned out perfect. Thank you and God Bless your work.
LINE-X the entire truck. that Berliner is amazing stuff on the truck.
Thanks for this Vid along with the others. Frontiers are very under-rated. Earned my sub.
Thanks Matt! You inspired me to install it on my 2012 SL and it’s worked like a charm. Your video was so straightforward and informative, I gained a lot of confidence to do it myself. I’m not an experienced mechanic and my installation skills are novice at best so I was proud when it all came together. I even routed a wire to install a backup camera at the same time (since they’re routed the same way up through the floor by the B pillar) which I’ll install in a new car stereo. Great fun and functional too. Wouldn’t have done it without you.
Glad I could help!
Cool video. I added a lift assist to my tailgate, so happy I did. Super easy and cheap. A video idea for ya.
Thanks for the video. Made my install a lot easier.
Thanks so much for this. I was able to install myself.. which is saying something
Good stuff! I’m building some cool Nissan myself!
That's a great idea, plus it's inexpensive and something that doesn't require special tools (though I'm going to have to crawl under the truck (LOL). I'm going to definitely to this one.
Damn, I'm going to have to buy me a lift to do the install 🤦🏼♂️
JK 🤪. Thanks for sharing. 👊
Excellent!
I had no idea this even existed.
I will be getting this. On my 2018 Nissan Pro4X
Awesome!
woohoo got it!
Thanks so much. Great instructions really thorough but made it simple for a simpleton like me to get er done! You should get a commission from Pop & Lock. I would have never bought it (or figured out how to install it) without this vid. Thanks again 👍
How did you get the wires from the hole on the bottom to under the seat? I can't seem to find that under the seat, only what look like long rubber pieces of insulation of some sort? And that underseat module looks like it may be right above that hole ?
@@david_tryon I was wondering the same thing, and then I just decided to use a small flat-head screwdriver to poke a hole up through the sound-deadener material from the bottom. It went through pretty easily and broke right through the material on the inside under the seat. You don't want to poke up too far, just enough to break through; otherwise you'll gouge the insulation and carpet. Overall, it seems like a great spot to run the wires through.
its pretty crazy how car prices have changed. i just bought a 2016 nissan frontier with about 50k kms on it and paid 25,000 + tax
I would cut and solder those connections and use a shrink wrap. those plastic clips suck and will break.
Nice video. Could you perhaps describe what you are doing whilst you are working please? I will be waiting for your next video.
Sweet
Did you install the tailgate assist on your Frontier 2019? If so, can you make a video about that also.
What’s the trick to pulling back the b pillar trim to access the door lock wiring? I can unsnap the trim on the bottom of the rear doorway but I’m tentative about prying on the pillar trim after that.
How’s it holding up? Any issues yet or is it being reliable?
Donde puedo conseguir esa tapa trasera con llave para el cajón?
Weird. I tried to do my 2006 Nissan frontier and I don't have that cable and grommet on coming from the liftgate to the back of the pick up. Looks like I am going to have to drill some holes on lift gate and rear body of truck for this mode to be done 😳
You look like this one guy I went to boot camp with.
Haha! Why yessir there mr smalls, you pegged me for that guy!
@@MattVerley Glad to see you're still succeeding, shipmate. I enjoy these videos, and the odd Facebook post now and then regarding the tempest of Oregonian tax policies. Keep up the fine work.
nice hadn't thought of doing that, then again am switching the tailgate altogether. Have you found shock absorb rods to ease the drop of the tailgate, whenever I found some they seem pricey
Just an fyi, Amazon had a tailgate assist strut for sale for around $20, others have complained about durability but mine has been pretty good for the past year.
Awesome
Standard transmission on Nissan Frontier 6v
Hi, owner of a 2015 Frontier. I noticed when you locked the tail gate the horn when off. So your remote for the tailgate is tied into the front doors? How did you do that?
Are you asking how did he get the tailgate lock to work with the key fob? He just used the wires for the door lock/unlock.
Can you still "manual override" using the key?
Interested in that question as well.
I just paid 20K on a 2013 with 90k miles... o feel ripped off. Got an SL with pretty much everything but the kitchen sink in it
I want the same for 18k) now price at least 23-24k(
$18k?? That same truck is $21k-$23k in Arkansas. Not fair!!!
I found a few "new" unsold 2018 SVs with 300 miles for 18k. I'm stuck with the r51 pathy for the meantime but definitely planning on a frontier or titan.
Agreed, I live in Indianapolis and bought the exact same truck with a few more miles and it was 25
Yeah you got a great deal. However I absolutely agree that this is the least expensive truck on the market and still just as capable and reliable.
AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH !!!!! NOOOOOO !!!!
Those 3M Scotchloks have been nothing but the bane of my existence.
The guillotine cuts the wires.
The corrosion that starts makes "Higher than Normal" resistance that is sometimes hard to find.
Vibration cuts more wires on the guillotine.
A local boat trailer shop would always wire the trailer lights with these things. After a season of putting the boat in the water, the lights would stop working. The trailer shop would then charge to rewire the trailers ... with more of these damn things.
I HATE THEM !!
What do you normally do to splice cables? I would say solder, but that can be difficult in some locations. I don't think he has to worry about water, but I would wonder about a poor connection causing heat.
