      Yeah thats definitely a good option! I actually really like using the switchblade without the chin bar most of the time so it's really suiting my needs well right now

      I use the Giro Switchblade and love it but like I said in the video it depends on what youre looking for. I think the switchblade is more suitable in terms of heavy duty protection while the super 3r is more suitable as a trail helmet.

    Nice review, and I wish I had a fun trail like that to ride! I just got the Giro (Neon green), and I can't wait to try it out. I'm thinking of even using it as a skiing/snowboarding helmet if I ever need it (So far I've never rocked a helmet on the slopes, but you never know).

    BELL Super 3R Mips,
    toller MTB-Helm mit massivem
    Qualitätsproblem und
    uncooperativem Hersteller!
    =======================
    Heute am 24.08.2021 habe ich über meinen Fachhandel, bei welchem ich den Helm gekauft hatte, eine Antwort auf den als Reklamation eingesendeten Helm vom Hersteller BELL erhalten.
    Antwort:
    Weil der Helm außerhalb der Garantiezeit ist, stellt BELL keinen Ersatz zur Verfügung und gewährt ebenso keine Kulanz irgendwelcher Art. Auf meine Nachfrage was mit dem Helm passiert ist, bekam ich "kein Kommentar" als Antwort! 🤷‍♂️
    Es war ein schönes Konzept dieser Helm, aber ich werde wohl nie wieder einen BELL Helm kaufen. ☝👎

    hi. as far as sizing, which one did you go with for the giro? doe's it feel like it kind of floats above your head? i'm not used to mips so i don't really know how it should feel compared to a regular full-face with the padding that keeps it snug. if i put it on and strap it it, and i shake my head, it doesn't move but it wobbles a bit. is it normal? how's yours?

    • @thomasthetrailengine9474
      @thomasthetrailengine9474  6 років тому +1

      One Imaginary Boy there’s a little bit of float! In that regard it does feel more like a normal trail helmet than a downhill helmet because there isn’t the thick padding all around the inside

  • @69indigoblue
    @69indigoblue 7 років тому +5

    The Giro looks like a ski helmet without the chin bar. But it should provide more stability than the Bell.

    • @shiruba2004
      @shiruba2004 6 років тому +1

      Interestingly, the reason I am interested in the Giro is that I think I can also use it for skiing. (I don't want to buy two helmets). As for the action cam mount, it seems to be the go-pro style, so no love for Sony action cam owners.

      @thomasthetrailengine9474  7 років тому

      Stian Jorge Jarnæss thanks! I'm pretty sure the mount you're referring to on the top of the helmet is actually a light mount and not made for a GoPro. I could be entirely wrong but I believe that to be the case so you may need to by a mount from GoPro!

      Wear and tear of cervical spinal disc compression carrying the human head in normal circumstances let alone the pounding they get in aggressive trail riding does warrant the lightest weight possible while providing proper protection. Weight consideration should be a factor in a review. Thx.

    When I used the GoPro mount on the giro I got this terrible creaking noise from the visor, pins were perfectly tight... very annoying but love the helmet

    • @thomasthetrailengine9474
      @thomasthetrailengine9474  7 років тому +1

      Utube_Assassin I got the same thing first time I used it! One thing that ended up helping was putting the GoPro on with the visor still not attached to the helmet. Not sure if that'll work for everyone though

    • @Ordinarysortaguy
      @Ordinarysortaguy 7 років тому

      Haha yeah, I was also riding a jump line and i had no idea the pins were loose so I've yet to get a new set of pins. And clipping the helmet isn't easy or near as crisp as the demo models and stuff but I love the helmet, I feel so safe with it on. Have been riding with no goggles for a long time which doesn't look pretty but pairing it with some 100% strata goggles when my broken collarbone is healed.

    • @thomasthetrailengine9474

    do you feel the switchblade is to hot for daily trail use as well? currently have a smith forefront and enjoy the helmet but have not took a crash with it yet. ( 3 weeks mountain biking so still slow ). the smith is nice but as the annoying sit on top of head look and I honestly don't feel that confident in it ( no side protection ). the switchblade is sweet but just don't want to be burnt out in this summer heat.

    • @thomasthetrailengine9474
      @thomasthetrailengine9474  7 років тому +2

      Wyatt Poovey it's certainly a little hotter than other helmets but that being said I still wear it for every day trail riding without the chin bar and don't feel like it's way too much of an issue!

  • @ChannelZeroOne
    @ChannelZeroOne 5 років тому

    I was considering buying the Giro. Now I know it's hot, I will continue looking. Thanks for saving me from that. The Bell is not an option. I am trying to find a DH certified comfortable lightweight well ventilated helmet.
    A full face helmet is worthless in many parks if it dont have the DH cert. Otherwise great vid on showing how these work.
    Thanks for posting, please do not be offended. I mean well.

    I have to admit that you did a very very thorough job in reviewing these helmets and some of the bike vids I watched as well but you really need to work on your presentation skills. You sound like that mono-tone teacher in school that puts everyone to sleep in their classes.
    Someone else commented on this too about ditching the tablet, look at the camera more, relax and have some personality dude it's like watching that mono-tone teacher write on the black board again. I love the detail you go into but liven it up a bit.
