Man, I know I’m late to this party, but thank you. Thomas Lang was such a huge inspiration to me coming up. Sooo many people have no idea about Thomas. He is an absolute f*#%ing mad scientist behind a kit.

Cracked me up too. He then followed it with Lang's drumsticks being like a pair of horses' dicks. A friend was doing sound for a Lang drum workshop tour so I went along one night. He talked about his sticks being bigger than everybody else's. After the gig I went on stage to wind some cables and had a good look around his kit. The sticks were ridiculously fat.

I've been playing now for 47 years and you blew me away just live Thomas lang blew you away. I'm so impressed with your humbleness and respect to other drummers. I live in Australia but my son's going out with a Spanish girl in Valencia. When we go to Valencia to meet her parents next year I want to meet you to.
My 2 cents: it was probably 2010 or so, i was playing (guitar, thank god!) at Rimini Music Show, the Italian version of the NAMM show, so, basically, only musicians there... we were soundchecking on the main stage and something happened behind us, on the second drum kit.... the most incredible concentration of drum chops in 30 seconds... it was Thomas checking the drums because he had his show after our show... Pretty scary... ;-)

I was fascinated with him for a long time. Then I watched a video of him installing internal mics on his kit. Just talking and being himself. The guy is hilarious and so laid back. He's a real gem.
While watching i was thinking about how drummers write their solos and then he said its was an improvisation. I swear my fucking jaw dropped

Thank you for touching on the topic of TL's courageousness of playing such a monstrous kit and playing what no one else is playing! makes me want to set up my monster kit and get back to my roots and slow down for no one, and just make a bunch of noise for the personal pleasure it brings me. I've been trying to take a practical approach to being a drummer, but I've been playing far too reserved the past ten years playing in bands as a result.

I actually disagree with that viewpoint. I see a lot of skilled people praising and overly complimenting others out of what seems to be audience appeasement. To me, it's unappealing, unless it's genuine (I think Estepario is one of the genuine ones). It's actually a breath of fresh air when I see somebody have a bit of ego and acknowledgement of their own skills nowadays, especially on the internet. There tends to be an unspoken narrative on a lot of these channels that you have come off extremely "humble" and "selfless" to be liked by your audience, even when it seems unfitting. Just be positive, have fair judgement and don't come off overlyimpressed for things that aren't actually so.

I have never meet. Thomas🦁Lang , but have seen Dom Famularo & Thomas Pridge & Virgil Donati at Drumtek 1998. & In 2010 got have my drum stick side by Derek Roddy it was the Best day of my life. I very thankful I went in 2010 Drumtek Very much respect to all Drummers✌🏿😊...

Something we all should remember is what you finished with: it is our instrument, our time, etc so use it the way we want and use these pro drummers as a reference as to what can be done if time is put in. One thing I always find funny about the old Thomas Lang videos is that he's playing traditional grip there. He now switched to matched grip and is just bad-ass.

I met Thomas at a NAMM show early 2000s. He was unknown. He was wearing jeans and a jean jacket and we stood together near a booth with a drum pad. He picked up some sticks and played a little. I knew instantly this guy had serious chops. It was that fast. I didnt think much about it later until I saw him showing up and up.
He was well known back in those days.

I love the way he said ‘Thomas Lang” that should be the way to say a legendary drummer’s name. With great respect and already implied dude is a freaking beast.
Since I discovered TL, Virg, Portnoy and a few others I don’t even call myself a drummer anymore. At least not in the realm where these guys exist. Way above my bar! To the point that I just sit in my drum room sometimes and watch utube vids instead of practicing.
I’m just so amazed at the level of skill possessed by these guys. I never knew it was humanly possible. It sure humbled my ego. (every drummer has ego issues of some sort, right?) Now I wish I had taken lessons and learned rudiments and practiced more when I was a kid or young man. Now there aren’t enough years left for me to even think about catching up to this kind of talent and/or ability so I’ll just do what I do these days which is play at church and jam in my basement with my nephew and then watch these vids. Amazing!

Ahora en serio: tus vídeos sobre reacciones son los mejores que he visto de este tipo porque son instructivos. La mayoría se centran en cantar las alabanzas del homenajeado pero tú vas más allá y explicas qué es lo que está ocurriendo y por qué. Eso nos ayuda mucho a los mierdecillas como yo a progresar con el instrumento y obtener conocimientos útiles y prácticos, que no sólo de repartir leña vive el baterista.
The thing I have always loved about Thomas Lang is that when he did a drum solo, it MADE YOU WANT TO DANCE!! Drum solos normally are all about technique and speed, and little or nothing to do with groove. With Thomas Lang, he manages to combine both technique AND groove. Fantastic.

Broke my shoulder in November last year didnt play for nearly a year as it took that long for the bone and tendons to heal its like im having to learn from scratch again.i should worked on my weak hand the left instead of sulking and depression it was these vids of yours that have helped me get me ting going again .great channel mate

Siberiano, gran video. As a drummer myself, las veces que he visto a Thomas Lang la reacción es la misma: No entender como un humano puede llegar a tal nivel de proficiencia en un instrumento. Me encantó este formato, dijiste cosas muy sensatas, no fue solamente reaccionar y decir "OH QUE BUENO!" Verdaderamente le metiste tu opinion personal, experiencias, como llegaste a el, profundidad sobre como llegó a ser THOMAS LANG y demás.

Now THAT'S how cymbals, snares and Toms are supposed to sound. Well mic'ed and mixed. Sounds like you're right there, live. The Yamaha EAD10 one piece mic doesn't pick up the cymbals too well. They sound muffled. These sound so clean and crisp.
