  • "Orthodox in Dixie" is a documentary about the Eastern American Diocesan parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in South Carolina. The film is a production of the Media Office of the Eastern American Diocese - written, narrated, and produced by Reader Peter Lukianov, together with Executive Producer Reader Gregory Levitsky.
"Orthodox in Dixie" examines the lives of the clergy and faithful of these parishes, and takes a look at what a theoretical "Orthodox South Carolina" would look like.

Wow suevushka, its a good thing Sts. Cyril and Methodius didn't feel that way when they came to Russia and translated the GREEK liturgy into the vernacular ...

This is wonderfully creative. Orthodox are an eclectic melting pot, and this shows an interesting melt of Russian Orthodox, and Bible Belt stew. Every Ortho I have met has their own unique story, so it would be hard to chart a trend, but this video comes close. Thanks for taking the bold creative step. Blessings. Lord have mercy on us, y'all.

I am Orthodox in France and I love the history of the South (Which I find very knight, and therefore quite French) and I'm excited for the development of the Church of Christ in the land of the South. I hope the southerners better understand the East and Russia

That's very true! Northerners always ask what you do. I'd fit in better in the south cuz I always ask where people are coming from! I guess it's cuz I was raised by a southerner.

Don't call American's converts as opposed to someone who is not!! All are converts, and there is no such thing as a cradle Orthodox!! Converts are not second class citizens of the Kingdom. They are either full members of the Kingdom or they are not!!!

Might be because they speak English?

I don't even want to watch this. Sorry, but I really dislike English used in the Liturgy. It's a shame that it is so demanded by those who "discover" the Orthodox Church.
