The Orthodox divine liturgy to me it is the closest place to heaven. My only regret is that I did not learn about it when I was younger. I am 80 years old and I just discovered it only last year
To the one who thinks this is false teaching. You do not understand. This is the Church that gave you the Bible and the proper way to interpret it. For example, The Bible also says you have not many to call Father. You are missing the Holy Tradition that the Apostles handed down. St Paul said believe in the Word of God and the TRADITION that was handed down to you. The Orthodox Church has been faithful in keeping this Holy Tradition, Unlike Protestants and Catholics who have changed things.
Added? You mean like the Supremacy of Rome? The Immaculate Conception? The Holy Spirit proceeding from the Father THROUGH the Son? Yeah, those were all believed before the Great Schism that broke East and West apart or should I say when the Eastern Churches broke away from Rome.
A comment in the spirit of charity. Rome has so many good things and in that regard no protestants shouldnt compare. However, Rome today is a product of Vatican II and Vatican I prior to that. Things have indeed changed.

I was reading recently about how it used to be that strictly only the faithful could even be in the room as the Eucharist was being blessed and people were communing. Sometimes it was strictly only they that could even be in the services at all. People could wait sometimes, as catechumens, for 30 years, just to be worthy to be in that hall as the Liturgy is celebrated and to receive the Eucharist. People paying penances could not come near, or see even a scraps of the heavenly beauty, sometimes, again, for 20 years, if it was a serious sin, as they repented. How different it was from how it is now. Now you can look it up on UA-cam and see all that occurs even behind the "curtain". I'm not saying it's "wrong" or anything, I'm just saying... the contrast is stark.
This is what the "dismissal of the catechumens" is about. In the ancient Church, when the priest said, "catechumens depart, let none of the catechumens remain," anyone unbaptized would actually leave. Sometimes even people who were not communing, for whatever reason, would also leave at that point. I believe as well that the priest says "catechumens" and not "unbaptized people," because you had to be at least a catechumen to even get in the door for the first part of the Liturgy.
To be fair, 30 years is extremely excessive for a Catechumen to join the Church and ultimately not very Biblical. Imagine if St. Philip The Evangelist told the Ethiopian Eunuch "sorry, only in 30 years you can be part of the Church". Or our Lord and Saviour telling the thief on the cross "today you will have 30 years until you can join me in paradise" lol. Sometimes the Church in the past did mistakingly take things a bit too far, even when with good intentions.

+eleni bailey i do hope all Orthodox parishes will return to the Traditional Calendar settled on at the First Ecumenical Council. The Calendar is very much the heart beat of Orthodoxy and the change was meant to disrupt the unity of Orthodox Christians around the world. @@patrickmartin8783 The real nail in the coffin for me is that the supposedly "true Orthodox Church" is splintered into dozens of feuding factions, none of which are in communion with each other. The "Genuine Church of Greece" and the Bulgarian and Romanian Old Calendarists are in communion with each other, so they have a somewhat better argument, but the rest of the groups are very obviously just schismatics.
Oh, i was just going to say i had only begun watching this and began to send it to everyone i could, when i just saw that Abbot TRYPHON had left a comment..How wonderful.. Thank you..
The Russian church is one of the reasons I became Orthodox and I have a soft spot for His Holiness Patriach Kirill of Moscow and all Russia in my heart. I'd argue he's another St. John Chrysostom
What a beautiful production! This will help me in my upcoming ordination to the Holy Diaconate. Out of curiosity, what musical arrangements is the regent using?
My preliminary remark to this comment is that I am a traditional Roman Catholic (Identifying with the SSPX) so I reject the modernist changes of the Second Vatican Council, ecumenism, collegiality, etc. As Traditionalist Catholic, I have a great amount of respect for the Oriential/Eastern Rites and Liturgies. I wanted to know if the Eastern Orthodox Church accepts the understanding of the Liturgy in the same sense as the Catholic Church does. I have noticed that whilst the Orthodox Church puts a lot of emphesis on the Real Objective Pressence, just as the Catholic Church, it seems to understand it possibly differently. In Catholicism we put a lot of emphasis on the Mass being the making once again present in an unbloody and sacramental manner the Sacrifice of Calvary on the altar. We put a lot of emphasis on the sacrificial and propitiatory nature of the Eucharist. It seems as if the Orthodox Church focuses more on the Last Supper rather than Calvary. Saint John Chrysostom said that during the Liturgy the angels gather around the altar where the Christ is immolated. So I am asking how you understand the nature of the liturgy. I know that the Eastern Church puts a lot more emphasis on the idea of mystery in all things relating to God than the West. And that the Orthodox Church says that there is some degree of mystery in Christ's Presence in the Eucharist in the sence of how it changes. In the Roman Church we understand, regarding the sacrificial nature of the Liturgy, that the Last Supper was merely the institution of the Mass and a pre-enactment of Calvary. Is this also true of the Orthodox understanding.
***** I must disagree, but I don't want to argue about where the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church is found. And I did watch it - it was beautiful, but as a Roman Catholic, I am sure you could see why I am not as sure about the Eastern Orthodox Church's understanding.
***** I do not disagree about how moving it was. I would not have watched the nearly 35 minute video in its entirety if I didn't. I will just ask my priest. God bless you.
***** God bless you as well. I am going to remain Roman Catholic, but I appreciate the links. God bless you and pray for me (the good Lord knows that I need it).
I just wanted to reply on here, I hope it helps some. I was SSPX, unofficially. I had converted to Rome a number of years ago from Lutheran, and as I came to understand the modernism of the Roman church, it truly damaged me emotionally as I stuck it out. The constant worries of violating the sacred laws of the Church, drained me. I felt there was nowhere left for me to go, that there was nowhere that made sense anymore... that the one and only Holy and Apostolic Church (Rome) splintered completely before my eyes just as quick as I became RC, and as I learned that, so did my heart. So I stepped away from everything, SSPX and modernist, and I explored Orthodox because I kept hearing about these other "Patriarchs" that existed at the same time of the "Pope" and every time I asked my RC "friends" and the modernist Priests/SSPX Priest about these other "Patriarchs", everyone had a different explanation. So I started digging into the Orthodox history on the Patriarchs myself for a solid answer. SSPX and modernist RC do not teach the proper Orthodox understanding of events between East and West and what all occurred, SSPX and modernist RC only teach bits and pieces of it. SO MUCH history is left out. I am not yet Orthodox, although it's been a year and a half and I am still learning - it's amazing as I never knew there was another side to the coin. In my humble opinion, you could possibly approach all of this in a few steps. I was unable to understand and fully appreciate any Orthodox practices that surrounded the Liturgy as a RC until I began learning and re-learning the history of the Patriarchs and what happened between the East and West and how that affected Roman liturgical practices vs Orthodox (Eastern) liturgical practices. (This included learning the succession, and value of the early Patriarchs along with the Roman Patriarch before the split.) These differences then filter down to other small doctrinal differences. It's truly a step by step process and takes much time to sort through. God bless you Jacob, Please pray for me also, the Lord knows I need it too.
***** Thank you for this comment. I assure you I will make sure I say a special prayer for you Katie. I am in agreement on the point of seeing the Modernist spirit that has infiltrated the Holy Roman Church, although I cannot say I agree on the conclusion of turning to the Eastern Orthodox Church. I would be happy to discuss this with you sometime if you would like, I can always give you my email. I am pretty well versed in this as I actually came from Anglicanism to Catholicism to Orthodoxy and now back to the Roman Catholic Church. But the Catholic Church is separate from the Conciliator church - the man made church of Vatican II. The Conciliar church is a new church with a new bastard rite of the Liturgy, a modernist corruption of the venerable and ancient Roman rite, new Sacraments, and new doctrine, a church through whom the trace of the Holy Ghost does not pass. It cannot be denied that Vatican II attempts to constitute a new religion in radical and doctrinal rupture with all of Catholic Tradition and teaching, a new religion whose principal purpose is to exalt the natural dignity of the human person and to bring about a "religious" unity of mankind. However, the subtle cleverness of this operation must also be noted. It is the traditional hierarchical structure of the Church, its Mass, its devotions and prayers, its catechisms and teachings, and now even its Rosary that have all been infiltrated with the principles of the new religion. This new religion has been swallowed down unwittingly by many Catholics precisely because it hides, as a caricature, behind the outward appearance of Catholicism. The end result is a strange mixture of Catholicism and the new religion. This is the reason for which we have every right to condemn the post-Conciliar revolution for the new religion that it is, while at the same time we must respect the offices and functions of those who hold positions in the Church. Likewise, we must admit that many Catholics in good faith still retain the true Faith in their hearts, believing on the authority of God, Who reveals divine truth through the Catholic Church, although it is often tainted to varying degrees by the principles of the new religion. Regarding the Orthodox Patriarchs I could write an entire comment on the Pentarchy, other Sees of the early age of Christendom, Papal Supremacy in the Early Church etc. But I wait if you want to actually discuss it.
Isnt there any way to delete those really annoying comments that just want to argue and don't really want to learn. Especially the ones with excessive exclamation marks. Its like they think it helps their argument. =/
Very beautiful but let us not forget the following information. The Old and Authentic ROCOR is the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA) that was formed in 1920 by bishops who were forced to leave their homeland along with millions of Russian people, all fleeing the horrors of the communist system. The ROCA bishops, clergy, and laity remain loyal to the original mission of an independent ROCA. Despite protests from within the ranks of bishops, clergy, and laypeople, on May 17, 2007, a large part of the ROCA entered into Eucharistic communion with the MP with the signing of the “Act of Canonical Communion” and is now known as the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR - MP). The Moscow Patriarchate (MP) and the current ROCOR-MP do need to repent of the heresies of Ecumenism and Sergianism. The smaller part of ROCA that chose to remain loyal to the historical Russian Orthodox Church and to continue the mission of the ROCA is not in Eucharistic communion with the Moscow Patriarchate (MP), the state-controlled official Russian Church. The Churches of the ROCA remnant are present today in the Diaspora District of ROCA. The list of Parishes is present on the rocana and auroca web sites. The ROCA Churches are located in Australia, New Zealand, St. Petersburg, as well as in the U.S. and Canada. For these who would like to understand more about the history of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA) they can read the article "ROCA the Beacon Of Light" by Protopriest Nikita Grigoriev on the rocana web site. Also, we remember that the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA) Council of Bishops in August 1983 in the person of its Metropolitan Philaret of New York (1903-1985), noting the extent of the Ecumenist contagion, issued an Anathema to Ecumenism in the straight line of the Holy Fathers, condemning anyone who participated in this heresy. When the Church pronounces anathema on a certain heresy, we must NOT forget that it is for eternity. Anathema to Ecumenism (1983) "To those who attack the Church of Christ by teaching that Christ’s Church is divided into so-called “branches” which differ in doctrine and way of life, or that the Church does not exist visibly, but will be formed in the future when all “branches” or sects or denominations, and even religions will be united into one body; and who do not distinguish the priesthood and mysteries of the Church from those of the heretics, but say that the baptism and eucharist of heretics is effectual for salvation; therefore, to those who knowingly have communion with these aforementioned heretics or who advocate, disseminate, or defend their new heresy of Ecumenism under the pretext of brotherly love or the supposed unification of separated Christians, Anathema! --- Note: The relics of Metropolitan Philaret of New York were found to be completely incorrupt in 1998.
Since when is a subdeacon allowed to touch the Altar Table (Prestol) ? What right does he have placing the gospel on the Altar table after it's reading?
Subdeacons and above may touch the Altar table if they are doing it for a purpose, which is true in this case. Some traditions even have the subdeacon venerate the back corner of the table when entering the Altar area. Subdeacons are clergy afterall.
+Belongto Jesus It is a Znamany chant version of "Receive the Body of Christ, Taste the Fountain of Immortality, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia" which is chanted every Liturgy when the people receive Holy Communion. I prefer Kievan chant versions, but that's just me. This is beautiful, also.

I almost feel ashamed to watch this... I am not worthy to even look at the Prosphora... KYRIE ELEISON IMAS yes, I am totally humiliated by this video. The Trisagion is now echoing in my heart, so it's a good thing I guess.
Guiseppe, no one is worthy to look at the Eucharist let alone commune of it. But we are made worthy by God's mercy and love alone. Am here to listen should you want to talk about this.
It is not meant in the sense of Catholic meditation. One definition is "a written or spoken discourse expressing considered thoughts on a subject," which this clearly is.
The Holy Scriptures use the word many times. It has several meanings which have nothing to do with Buddhism, New Age, or any other false religion or heresy. An example from Psalm 1: "1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night."
Thank you so much for this beautiful video and magnificent explanation of the service. Please see my promotional shorts and trailers in seventeen different languages (including Russian) to advertise my upcoming documentary on the triumph of Orthodox Christianity (filmed in Republic of Georgia) on You Tube under 'marykfilms.'
We are Christians and so we are Christ-centered, not man-centred. As He is very God of very God, union with Him and in Him, is union with God, with the eternal. So we are not concerned with mere human experiences, but in transcending them into the infinite, now and ever.
Well, of course - Life in God is to Live Forever. But that is trancendent, far better than being 300 years old here, now, in an aging and unhealthy human body.@@makingsmokesince76
What enslavement to a nearly endless and manmade set of rules, gyrations and hypnotic dance moves, kissing manmade objects and excluding the worshipers. The enemy is gratified to see people kiss the cover of a gold-encased gospel as long as it's not preached.
You are entitled to your opinion. But, let me ask you... do you believe that all books written by the Apostles are in the Bible or there are some that are not in there.?
A uniformity of true worship, to one god. In one Orthodox church. Across the entire world. It is beautiful. In one church that every generation of man is able to access without change from beginning of time until end of time. Hypnotic dance moves… haha not heard that one before.
Firstly, I don't believe anyone in the video is a convert. Secondly, what would it matter if they were? Thirdly, should they sing poorly on purpose, so as not to sound "too good"? Fourthly, what extra grace from God did you think would be given to you by insulting those who are serving the Lord? If they are not serving the Lord, but rather their voices, like you say, what business is it of yours? The Lord will be the judge.

Please return to world Orthodoxy
A Masterpiece. Alleluia!
Amen! Me too. Thank God...

Thanks
What a beautiful production! This will help me in my upcoming ordination to the Holy Diaconate. Out of curiosity, what musical arrangements is the regent using?
Is there a vid that explain the Pascal liturgy? My fav.
Is this available on DVD?
If you are watching on UA-cam it is possible to save or download. Blessings.
so so pitiful Orthodox Church God bless everybody amen amen Amen
Is there a cd of this Liturgy, amazing reader low voice?
So I stepped away from everything, SSPX and modernist, and I explored Orthodox because
I kept hearing about these other "Patriarchs" that existed at the same time of the "Pope"
and every time I asked my RC "friends" and the modernist Priests/SSPX Priest about these other "Patriarchs", everyone had a different explanation.
I was unable to understand and fully appreciate any Orthodox practices that surrounded the Liturgy as a RC
until I began learning and re-learning the history of the Patriarchs and what happened between the East and West
and how that affected Roman liturgical practices vs Orthodox (Eastern) liturgical practices.
(This included learning the succession, and value of the early Patriarchs along with the Roman Patriarch before the split.)
These differences then filter down to other small doctrinal differences.
It's truly a step by step process and takes much time to sort through.
God bless you Jacob,
Please pray for me also, the Lord knows I need it too.
Man, the Narrator’s voice is high.
Isnt there any way to delete those really annoying comments that just want to argue and don't really want to learn. Especially the ones with excessive exclamation marks. Its like they think it helps their argument. =/
Someone got a link for the first chant starting at 1 minute?
Anyone have a link to the last hymn (that’s in the outro)? Or know what recording it is?

Anathema to Ecumenism (1983)
"To those who attack the Church of Christ by teaching that Christ’s Church is divided into so-called “branches” which differ in doctrine and way of life, or that the Church does not exist visibly, but will be formed in the future when all “branches” or sects or denominations, and even religions will be united into one body; and who do not distinguish the priesthood and mysteries of the Church from those of the heretics, but say that the baptism and eucharist of heretics is effectual for salvation; therefore, to those who knowingly have communion with these aforementioned heretics or who advocate, disseminate, or defend their new heresy of Ecumenism under the pretext of brotherly love or the supposed unification of separated Christians, Anathema!
\\o// The ONLY Christian Church worship God with the living and departed together +
what is the hymn at the end called please?
+Belongto Jesus It is a Znamany chant version of "Receive the Body of Christ, Taste the Fountain of Immortality, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia" which is chanted every Liturgy when the people receive Holy Communion. I prefer Kievan chant versions, but that's just me. This is beautiful, also.
+Elizabeth Riggs Do you know where I might find a recording of this version?
You can download it from UA-cam. It is not a CD.

Orthodox "meditation" - is it possible?
Why don't all if the women cover their hair?
Let that be between them and their spiritual father.
Unfortunately they don’t think it’s necessary.
Thank you so much for this beautiful video and magnificent explanation of the service. Why would you want to be immortal ? After 100 years, you basically covered every possible human level experience.
15:09 Yeah... Go dress, girl. I can see yours knees.
THAT is what you noticed whilst watching this video? Hypocrite.
I think all will be punished for following a religion without listening to other religions rationally
@samreeve824 A uniformity of obfuscation, confusion and exclusion.

These convert clergy seem to be more impressed with their own voices than what they are doing.
Fr Sergei Lukianov is not a convert.
