  • Since the days of early Russian traders in the mid-1700s, the Russian Orthodox church has had a place in the history of rural Alaska. "A Legacy of Faith" looks at the beliefs, traditions, and people of the Russian Orthodox Church in Alaska. From St. Michael's Cathedral in Sitka, to St. Herman's Seminary in Kodiak, to an all-night Easter service in the village of Russian Mission. ©KUAC, 1987

    This is so cool! I'm Catholic but am fascinated by both Catholic and Orthodox Churches, the mystical faiths, the faiths of thought and spirituality, the original ones. I love to see them cultivated, especially now that fundamentalist faiths are on the rise. I also love the stories of how the Russian Orthodox Church treated and still treat the Native Alaskans with such dignity; we all ought to learn from this and apply it to our own lives.

    And it is worth ordering from the priest in the church to read the akathist for your name of St. Archangel Michael and St. Cyprian and St. Justine against magic and all enemies visible and invisible. This is if you are baptized Orthodox. In Africa on every second there is something put from a sorcerer. And when you intend to go to command the akathist in the church, such thoughts may appear: "Maybe tomorrow, or next week", "Maybe I'm such a freak and no one is watching me (girls or boys, if you can not anyways find a pair, or you can for some reason speak only with one girl or boy.)", "The life is this way with good times and bad times", " I am so (if you have impotence)". etc. These thoughts come from demons from sorcery spells because only the prayer of the priest can 100% protect from magic and enemies visible and invisible. Jesus Christ told the apostles(which are the first priests) "I give you the right to untie everything that is tied in heaven and on earth.". Faith is opinion, is how somebody thinks with his head. May be enherited soul ilnessses like despresia, schizofrenia, Tourette sindrom, insomnia, bifurcation of personality etc. Firstly everyone must to eradicate schizofrenia, depression etc. from him and after that to planify making children, in order that they will not jump from balconie, have blood cancer, be born bodytobody joined twins or two headed and etc. These soul illnesses can be healed by eucharisty. In the afternoon before eucharist day you have to read " The prayers before eucharisty" where are asked from eucharisty such things like: soul and body healing, sins forgiveness, protection from devils etc. It is better to go to confession in the morning in the day of eucharisty(before eucharisty)because from evening to morning everyone can make the same sins again and again and also other bigger sins. If not to forgive someone who asked for forgiveness it is not worth going to eucharisty because the sins will not be forgiven. Entering( submersion 3 times with a certain prayer and crossing yourself)in water springs of orthodox saints(which are near or in monasteries)give very much power and sureness to people with depression, panic attacks, schizofrenia and other soul illnesses, there are some springs of mother of God Maria that even heal soulillnesses.

      The Consecration of Russia means more the Consecration of the Russian Orthodox Church to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Orthodox Church of course has to respond in a positive way. Virgin Mary appeared in Necedah Wisconsin between 1950 and 1975 and she said that Abraham Lincoln wanted to help unite the Russian orthodox church and Rome, but various forces, world wide forces didn't want this to happen, even leading to the assassination of Lincoln. These same forces lead to the assassination of five CZARS who all wanted to unite The Russian and Catholic Churches. These same forces want to rule the world, they hate Christianity.

      @ElementHunter russia has autonomous regions and we dont discriminate against natives, ask any native that, and compare natives of russia to natives of america and how "free" they feel.
      Russia never worked the way west does, youre generalizing and putting us in the same picture when russia never was part of the west.

    • @cs0345
      @cs0345 3 роки тому +14

      @ElementHunter You have way more instances of natives in Alaska actually wanting to convert to Orthodox Christianity than supposed forced conversions, and afterwards they weren't forced to speak Russian or abandon their culture to assimilate like what the US did to its native population to forcefully make them into Protestant white people though boarding schools. Btw, "traditional religion" is heavily romanticized. Native religions are just something people believed in until someone showed up with something new. Europeans used to be Pagan too. You don't see many of them resentful that their ancestors converted to Christianity

    • @daggerfighter
      @daggerfighter 2 роки тому +1

      @@notcrazy6288 but would the lie be better if you know where the true Church really is (and that it's not in fact "invisible")? Sometimes people who know the truth are considered arrogant and prideful by others.. that's just a perception effect. This is part of Orthodoxy, people naturally want to scream about it when they know something that others don't have. Yes, quite frankly this is the priveledge of Orthodoxy to know that undoubtedly, unlike other denominations that the search is over, this is the original church founded by Christ indeed. From the spiritual life within the Church, from its living saints that are present among us, it becomes evident very quickly. P.S. As an Orthodox Saint Paisios said on the matter: would it be right to blend pure Gold, purified but millenia of struggles with herecies&etc with copper? Clearly not..

    • @notcrazy6288
      @notcrazy6288 2 роки тому +1

      @@daggerfighter I'm not asking you to blend anything or change in any way. That being said, from an outsider's perspective, your arrogance (Yes that's what it is) is a turn off. Ultimately a church is an association, and nobody wants to associate with people who thump their chests in pride while looking down on others. If you ever want to convert a Catholic, this is the exact wrong way to go about it.

    • @daggerfighter
      @daggerfighter 2 роки тому

      @@notcrazy6288 Probably and totally understood what you are saying. Probably there's no point to constantly proclaim that we are the true Church, but proclaim the truth about the Church that will make people believe it, that's all right. I just wanted to explain this kind of percieved arrogance from the inside point of view, why is it happening. It's mainly because when we compare orthodoxy to protestants/catholics we see the difference too bright and wish that everyone would understand that too and join us (sorry if this sounds arrogant :)). Just as an example: the tradition of catholics blindly using absolutely forbidden and false prayer technics (ecstatic and envisioning during prayer leading to demonic possession), and many other things. it's just hard to stay silent and talk some mild language even when you should. And to be fair, I personally always found it a bit strange to myself, why belief in existance of one True Church is something that should turn off someone, it's just common sense to me that there indeed may be One Church tracing its roots to Christ and remains unchanged. That doesn't mean there's nothing good outside of the Church or there's no people following Christ. Of course not. Just as with the Arc during the Noa times, it's totally possible for His Church to be visible and concrete.

    I have genuine question in regards to the Orthodox Church - over the past couple years we've seen the horror of residential boarding schools of Native children come to light. They were run by Protestants & Catholics funded by the US and Canadian governments.
    Both Protestantism & Catholicism (and to a lesser extent Latter-Day Saints) have a history of atrocities and colonialism here in the US and Canada. That said, I couldn't find any history about the Orthodox Church behaving in such sickening manners.
    At least here in the Americas, how did the Orthodox Church manage to keep its hands clean where Protestants and Catholics failed?

      By respecting the native peoples. This is evidenced by the fact that services were held in the native language as soon as the monk-missionary-priest could learn the language. Native people were trained as priests to serve among their people. And the big one, children were not torn from their families to be converted from their native ways to white ways, as happened among the heterodox (Protestants and Roman Catholics).
