Growing up we're fed all this delicious Mexican food, but we live a pretty active lifestyle. Eating the same food as an adult with a sedentary lifestyle has definitely taken a toll on my health and my body. I'm hoping to get back on track this year with motivation from your videos and other fitness youtubers. Stay relentless!!

As a mexican myself who lives in mexico, the 2nd most obese country, Coke really makes an impact on our healthcare. An it is important to mension, that in many comunities, people can get a coke way much easier than a water. In my family, we usually have aguas frescas, made with fres fruit, however, almost everyone prefers a coke rather than an agua fresca. Plus, the incredible gastronomy we have.

@@gridiron8870 Many less economically wealthy countries lack infrastructure (in this case utility) which makes it hard to maintain water- when you have water you also have sewage. There must be plants that can cleanse water for repeated use as many place will not have natural springs or water wells to get water from; if they do, it wouldn't be accessible for the many that need water or easy to get the quantity a household would need for daily use (more so inner city with higher population density). Because water is a natural resource that all wildlife has access too as well as pollution from other resources we use, it can carry disease and dangerous chemicals. As such, it can be safer and easier to import processed drinks/sodas instead. Especially since Mexico borders the U.S. where Coke is headquartered/manufactured.

I mean cmon he wasted that guys entire day basically and at the end 500$ is supposed to change both their lives?. If Jesse genuinely cared he would mentor both of those guys and keep tabs on them, track their progress, create a diet plan for them and make sure they are sticking to it, logging their workouts.
As for the town itself he mainly only seemed concerned about making a "Jesse James West Day" he didn't really provide any input on how he could make the town better just joked around, he could of instead offered the mayor some ideas, could have hosted events with some kind of incentive to get people to want to be active sponsored by Jesse, could have done some seminars in town discussing and explaining the importance of nutrition and fitness.
Idk the whole thing to me just seems weirdly fake, I love watching Jesses videos though.

I am from Germany and I was on every apsect of the spectrum. i was overweight, really skinny, anorexic skinny, fat, normal and now i am pretty lean (skinnier physique with muscles) and I am really happy about it. What helped me a lot is too switch my diet to a japanese diet life style. in Japanese quisine probiotics, fresh sea food and vegetables are key. I even have fried food twice a week. Tofu katsu with pickled vegetables and rice or ebi tempura. rarely I am eating meat, but I love to treat myself with a gyudon bowl or tonkatsu. I can recommend vietnamese/japanese food because ýou get a taste explosion while not relying heavy on sugars/ or fat.
also many people think I put a lot of effort into my cooking but today i made sushi and onigiri for my girlfriend and my mom in under 40 min.

I've lived in the RGV for 10 years. I liked seeing a lot of the culture shine through in this video! There's also some other factors that weren't mentioned in this video:
    - There are only 2 seasons in the valley. Hot and hotter. It makes going outside and exercising less appealing when you're already sweating sitting at your kitchen table.
    - The infrastructure isn't in place to encourage people to walk outside. I'm sure you noticed it while driving around, but there aren't a lot of sidewalks in the Valley. It makes you feel like you need a car to get around. This coupled with the heat turns walking to the store to get a few items into a daunting task.

Cyclists are always being honked at and cut off by vehicles, parks are littered and poorly maintained, neighborhood sidewalks (if existent) are occupied by vehicles, etc. Even people who go the to gym are often viewed as outcasts or meatheads. I don't know if most of the people here eat 10k calories per day though, but they definitely have a significant calorie surplus compared to the national average.

It's TRUE like real Mexican food is only for the active. My family always feed me the same Mexican food since childhood in Mexico and I never had health issues or was overweight and when we got here to visit my other family here in USA we gained weight here in 1 month and noticed the family here was crazy obese while they ate the same food, but we also noticed they would add crazy amount of extra stuff. This is truly inspirational, i'm not us citizen but i do relate with the obesity issue. Here in my country there are several cases about people with obesity the worst part is some of them are children and toddler. The causes are also complex like cheap food but less nutritious, people below the poverty line, lack of knowledge about healthy lifestyle, healthy diet etc. And one particular reason about children obesity is that the parents tend to spoil their children with cheap ultra process food. And then they become addicted to that. I hope this video can inspire us to be more aware about our food, our lifestyle our health etc. And i think when we can eat in moderation the impact is not only felt by us people but also our Environment like less food waste etc. Really awesome video👍👍

I have to go out of my way to go to the gym. And most days I can't go because family has plans. Family gets mad because I'm at work then come home to change and go to the gym and they feel like I never see them. Hispanic families are close and this causes problems. So yes, it is an epidemic. It is up to oneself to want to make the change and start living a healthier life style. Many people work 8-10 hours a day and then go straight to fast food, and then their couches. It's terrible. The city also needs to update infrastructure, like adding sidewalks to encourage more walking. Adding parks. Adding racquet sport facilities to encourage more physical activity. Adding quarter of a mile racetracks. It is definitely a teamwork initiative. Comfort is our worst enemy.

Holy shit. To think you’d come all the way down here is astonishing, and I do agree that most at fault for obesity levels here in McAllen Texas are due to the fact that we live so close to the border so our culture really does play a part in it. The food here is amazing and can easily hook you in to loving it so much. I just started to go to the gym recently because of you, cbum and anthony mantello. I have seen that more and more people started to go to the gym, so that’s good. I do also believe that most people here have a low standard way of living, and the culture does really come into place here due to the fact that everything we make it home based. Im glad you also brought this problem to light as well because even I who has lived here forgot about this. Well made video and props to you coming all the way down here and really liked how respectful you were to everyone.🤝

I literally saw the title and knew it was my hometown. First frame of the video is literally the road i drive to work every day and hes walking in the middle of it. Thank god i joined golds last year, this is embarrassing for the whole town, but completely deserved. People are out of control here with the food, its nuts.

    Let’s gooo 🙏🏻
As hard as it is to hear, it true. Until, one decides for themselves to aspire for something better it will not change.
You deserve to live your healthiest life and like Rudy said don’t be afraid to ask for help!
Once you take the first step to say I want something better you will find that community of support.

The approach Jesse took to making this video is gold - talking to people and showing you care about them and their health from a place of love is hard line to walk - I feel you did that effortlessly and really enjoyed this video , in my opinion this will be one of your stand out vids 👍🏼
Stay healthy -be safe -god bless and as always “stay relentless”

Missed this vid when it first came out. Love to see more stories like this. Maybe not as popular but its a needed message. We still love the normal nonsense as well.

Thanks for visiting my area down here. You've been an inspiration and I went from 228lbs to 181lbs. 47lbs total. My area is pretty bad and the culture celebrates anything with an over abundance of food. The peer pressure from our culture is another issue, basically if you don't eat, it's a sign of disrespect. Thank you for the video in spreading this awareness.

I can't believe It, my dude; I actually spent my 13th birthday in McAllen; in fact, I actually ILLEGALLY crossed the Mexican border wall with my dad just for fun; it was a great experience! Fun fact, I actually visited the gym you went to in this video, i vividly remember the pool on the outside of it.
