I used to volunteer as a squire for an organization that did full-contact jousting at renaissance festivals. It was so much fun. Challenging work, out of doors (except for when it was in an indoor stadium), and they guaranteed I wouldn't go hungry. My job was basically to pick up broken lances, reset the rings on the quintain when it was in use (sometimes they'd use that in addition to jousting, but I haven't seen them use it much anymore), lead the horses from the stadium after the joust, and help the knights and horses with their armor and stuff. It was important to keep track of where the horses were so you didn't get run over. Those horses were massive. I'm fairly tall for a woman in my part of the world at around 5'10", but the horses made me feel very tiny. The other squires told me that typical horses would like like ponies after seeing the warhorses. They were right. Unfortunately I had to retire after only three years due to worsening health. I knew I wouldn't be able to keep it up for long, so I made the most of it while I was able to. It was fun while it lasted.

@Arkasha-Z Most armor is sold over face books and range in price based on style. For example a starter set is about 900 USD while German Gothic plate is 3000 USD
@Yom_Bristol We do grapple training and it is a big part of it, but the weapons can be used to assist in controlling your opponent. For example a pole arm can be hooked over someone's head and help control their head movement.
You can see a few instances of guys using their weapons as levers to fling opponents around. This was actually an authentic tactic; half-swording an arming sword or even wielding a zweihander "backwards" to use the guard as a hook was a frequent tactic for getting an armored foe off their feet. Then you'd work on them with the pointy bits or even switch to a long dagger for the kill, in situations where death was the goal (obviously not in tournaments). I did notice some blunt weapons (a mace in particular) which is meant to crush and disable heavy armor joints to immobilize foes, or ring their bells hard enough to concuss, but I'd imagine there's some rules about that in this system... But it's a little surprising to see wild swings against armor that is clearly not going to be penetrated with a blunted axe when the wielder has a perfectly good broad hook for tripping or levering.
Here since 3 or 4 hundred thousand subs, don't remember too well, great to see you reach this many. It really hasn't even been that long. Good luck on your future journey.
Why is it called a "blow" when you hit someone with enough force to crush their tissue and bones. It wouldn't be too bad if they were actually blowing each other off but this is horrible.
Here is the mass of permanent bruises on my leg.... And these bruises on my shins..... And the missing tooth (got me with a sword, 18 stiches)..... And my little fingers, broken 5 or six times, and the right one mostly cut off once.... That was an axe. Always the pinkies. 🤪 And some vision loss in my right eye. Two pokes with pointed sticks and five or six fistfights heh heh. 🐸

I used to belong to the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) here in the US. We would recreate the Middle Ages but the fighting was not like this with real weapons. The weapons were made of Bamboo and duct tape so no one got hurt to bad. It was fun. Congrats on 1 Million Subs.
As a former SCA fighter, I can tell you that SCA weapons are NOT made of bamboo, which is hollow, but of rattan, which is solid. And hurts. (Though "mass" weapons such as maces and axes have heads made of polyurathane foam.)
In America the acw, previously the acl, hosts these fights. A guy named Simon (forgot his last name) was in a free for all brawl when his helmet came of *as* another man's axe was coming for his head. Simon survived after the axe was removed from his skull, and invented a new armor standard for the league in the Simon strap.
