I like how we have both the "locked in a room with it" and "it locked in a room with me" in Alien games. It is nice to be both hunter and hunted.
I love Isolation and quite like this game. I only wish there was a game that blended the two styles. You can kill the aliens but direct fighting isn't always the best approach. You should be armed but the xenos must still be terrifying to face.
@@connorbennett1517 Just up Fireteam Elite's difficulty and that's it. That way they become harder to kill and deal WAY more damage, although they actually do a lot of base damage anyways. Xenomorphs, no matter their caste, aren't invincible. The thing about xenomorphs is that they are at their most terrifying when you're unarmed or poorly armed, or are massively outnumbered and overwhelmed in a confined space. Colonial Marines can clear most xeno hives with few casualties, using superior equipment, honed tactics from previous encounters with the bug freaks, and just keeping a cool head. Generally the worst case scenario for any military/security group to fight xenos, is when its unexpected and they come face to face with the bugs unprepared. In that case its usually a wholesale slaughter. Even with such incidents though just weeks, or even hours later, a prepared team goes back in the now identified hive and kills them all. Another good game to try, if you have a PC, or still have a Xbox 360 or PS3 kicking up dust, is AvP from 2010. FANTASTIC game, and you get to see how, mostly realistically (from a story standpoint), how a conflict from the perspective of all 3 sides in the expanded universe would go out.
I want another AVP game, cuz thats how it was for me. Predator gameplay gave power fantasy vibes, human gameplay gave horror vibes, and xeno gameplay gave stealthy assassin vibes. Such an underrated game, would love a sequal
@@Jaimyoutubing
I love AvP. But it's when the xenos are prepared for the fireteam that you should worry

"Sir, there is a xenomorph infestation on the planet and all of our capable marine fireteams are busy. What do we do?"
"Send in the Ignis unit, they'll be fine"

Hell yeah
If you wondered why they named themselves "fire", now you dont😂
Steve is merciless, he is all seeing, do not challange Steves ultimate authority over the xenos.
All xenos shall burn
also Glyphids
Steve has a Machine Spirit for purging.
Steve approves... 😉
God bless the omnissiah.
8:24 That moment right there is what's going to make me give this game a shot. Everyone's laughing about being basasses then there's a single, Alien screech.....sudden silence all round and all you hear is the click of readying weaponry....
Yeah...
"Safetys off boys, we got company."
*the racking of shotguns is all that is heard*
*there is a skittering in the vents going further away*
Marine squad leader: "HE'S RUNNIN'!! GET HIS ASS!!!"
@@thedyingmeme6 "THAT MAN, EAT HIS ASS!!"
Next scene: Curb stomping an alien (literally) while cussing it out.
This looks like I imagine all Guardsmen party would. Rigging entire rooms to blow, laughing at people meleeing "tyranids", and gratuitous amounts of yelling and cussing at each other.
A certified Twitch perimeter defense classic.
There’s actually different lines of dialogue each time you play a mission. It’s pretty neat
This is the closest we’ve ever gotten to a Rachni Wars Mass Effect game
i kinda wanted to see reapers vs rachni in the final battle

literally in stitches
Glad you're still with us, bro.
Aliens isolation, such a great game that will likely never get a sequel
Done by a company that has done predominantly rts games
it shouldn't get a sequel it would end up being a let down most likely let it be
Probably for the best cause sequels frequently suck, unfortunately.
It did get a sequel.
@@andrewkwilliams4869 and it sucked
The fact that Jay has read Armor, my favorite Sci-fi book, makes me extremely pleased.
The aliens deserve what they get for giving me nightmares as a kid. Hope you guys enjoy this wacky fun and consider leaving a like on the video if you do!
Also context for the turret names lol
Jimmy = Machine Gun Turret
Steve = Flamethrower Turret
Bill = Sniper Turret (Relevant in part 2)
The engineering is enghere
Steve=Uber Chad
PURGE THOSE XENOS WITH HOLY FIRE!!!! FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!!!! UAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol do you name all your turrets?
hope ya enjoyed the other classes; felt badass when I was rockin' the burst-mods on the Gunner with the Burst Rifle
OMG the simultaneous gasp of terror at 7:37 killed me.
Meleeing a xeno is the equivalent of trying to put out a fire with gasoline; there's clearly a better option but this is just gonna make things worse
It's like putting out a pan fire with water. It /might/ work, but it'll /probably/ just make stuff worse.
*Certified war hammer 40k moment*
On the other hand, if a Xeno is about to pounce on you, you can melee it and cancel out its attack. It's all in the timing.
8:24 That synchronization of switching guns at the same time was epic
This game was SO much better than expected. still rough in a lot of areas (i see you matchmaking -.-) but its so fun with friends. Just had its season 1 update drop too, so new class and weapons. Cant wait until jay discovers heavy flamer and his teamates regret showing him this game.
Jay grab the flamer. the *Heavy flamer*
Soon season 2 as well
You can tell that the developers legitimately love the Alien franchise and put their hearts and souls into this game to honor said franchise.
Seeing you get covered in flame at 3.37 AM was literally just *"Flashbang, through the door!"*
8:13 would be that one scene with Han solo chasing down a stormtroopers in the deathstar.
9:00 the deploy-Steve event had me in bits lmao
"I feel that the recon drone makes things worse" and seeing all those red outlines appear. Sometimes it's best not to know.
Love the Armor reference. Feels appropriate to the Alien universe.
I am so happy you found this game, and I'm even happier there's going to be a part two.
I love how much I relate to this man's panicked monkey sounds. I played killing floor 2 vr with some of my friends and I go full ape when a horde charges us and im alone
"It really does feel this game cares more about the ALIEN lore than some of the movies do" - Haha, so true!! Awesome video! So funny 😂
I love the [standing in a flamethrower stream while pummeling an alien to death] vibe of this game.
Whenever I play that mission and Monica shows up, the only thing I can think of is "Just Monica."
Agreed. I love how this game is basically revenge porn against the xenomorphs.
What about the Aliens v.s. Predator game on the 360? I loved the 3 campaigns, where you play as a marine, xenomorph, or a predator. I still have it, and play it once in awhile.
A classic of a game, came out 4 years before isolation though
Some of us are still waiting for a sequel for that one.
My favorite mode was the Alien infestation mode in that AVP game

@@RubixRaptor True, but it's such a fun classic i had to give it a mention.
Literally one of the greatest AvP games of all time.
I start rewatching this, and as soon as the words "I haven't heard the oboe in awhile..." come out of his mouth, lightening strikes right nexg to my house.
My favorite bit is that after the gunship thing the pilot says "can't believe they made me wait to shoot my missiles. You would have ducked."
3:24 That Alien is so powerful it has E1M1 as its theme! RUN FOR IT!
This looks like an arcade game that could fit into the warhammer lore and I love it
Xenos would definitely fit as a tyranid

Damn, Steve is one hell of a unit.
me: watches video "imagine if in aliens during that hive scene when the first xenomorph pops out, three marines just turn to see it and proceed to curb stomp it like it just came to the wrong side of the hood or something...that movie would have been a LOT funnier then..."
As a Kentuckian, I agree, how the hell did they take Kentucky?
Nobody had any shells with the price of fuckin ammo right now
California was dead within a week
fort benning took all the tanks from fort knox
Shells are very expensive
So many xenos invaded the State that every Kentuckian ran out of ammo.

Dude I just fucking love your videos man, it makes my day when you upload and I can just laugh at the stuff that happens to you like at 6:25
7:06 That combat roll he did to try and avoid the alien, reminded me of that fan 40k video. 30k heresy, shorter scene where a Chaos Space Marine is chasing a civvie and a guard.
Death of hope is the name of it
Thanks Jay for the birthday gift of a Dale Gribble sticker in the Discord!

2:45 this has me crying the audio is perfect.
"The Dale Gribble Experience " name of my band.

I now want to think that the colonial marines do have moments where they'll run down aliens with 12 gauges
That "Deja vu" at 6:21 caught me so of guard I threw my phone across the room.
Wow, not heard someone mention Armor in a stream before, love that book!
The flame turret, "Steve," reminds me of flamin Betty from the star craft 2 wings of liberty campaign mission
When did aliens go from being super-intelligent, sneaky predators into just mindlessly throwing themselves like frenzied idiots?
They do JUST that in quite a few scenes in Aliens 2 ya know. Also have you read ANY of the Comics? (Plus, wouldn't be a Colonial Marine fantasy without the Xeno hordes!)
@@strangewolf1261 They did it in Alien 2 in an attempt to test the defenses of where they had barricaded themselves. They stopped when they realized they couldn't get past the turrets, and when they did, they went somewhere else none of the people expected. They swarmed, but they had a plan when they did.
No, I have not read the comics. Are they canon to the movie franchise?
@@Andreazor Aye. Agreed. Never said Xenos are dumb. Many a man, machine & Yautja have fallen making that underestimation. Just saying that relentless swarming is par for the course with e'm.
As for the comics... There are a FEW that are directly related to the films. But most (imo the best ones.) Are basically self contained narratives that expand & explore the Aliens (& Predator!) universe.
One of my favs among e'm is AVP "Three World War"! Totally recommend a read if ya ever get the chance.
Plus, I know the Xeno AI is more than a bit dumb sometimes.... but honestly you'd be surprised by how quickly they can catch you off guard especially in higher difficulty where that Yellow outline thing doesn't work while Aiming down sights! Damn bugs blend into the environment (ESPECIALLY in the Hive) extremely well.
the xenomorphs only do mass attacks as it's clear, within the lore that the regular warriors have zero sense of self preservation.
We need the full playthrough from you, this looks awesome
“Pistols put holes in people. Rifles put holes through people. Shotguns, the right load at the right range will physically remove a chunk from your opponent and throw it on the floor behind him, and you will have to get someone to come clean it up with a shovel.”
-Clint, from Thunder Ranch.
My jaw dropped with the Armor reference!!! Love that book
Watching the big xenomorph run down the hallway reminded me of the armoured titan running through the wall in AOT
The pump shotgun can also get a mod that causes an explosion with each headshot. Combine that with the ability that increases fire rate, and you have a man portable war crime.
Whooo, 'Armor', love that book!
I love that they named the flamethrower turret steve
Steve's the Doomslayer of this verse
Something so powerful yet poetic about a shotgun.

Alien: Understandable, have a great day.
Kudos for the reference to the book "Armor"! :)

Came for the Gribble, stayed for the alien slaughter
Avp2 was amazing for it's time. All three campaigns were awesome and the multiplayer was nuts.
Aliens: Colonial Marines is the sole reason I no longer repurchase any game no matter how hyped I am for the release.
Love your content Rubix!
Nice Armor call out, might have to reread that one.
I can't wait to see more of this adventure of Steve!
And I can't wait for more of the videos!
lol when I started playing w/ my friends and got the flamethrower for the demolisher, we all had the same thought and it was "Burn these filthy Xenos in holy fire with the Heavy Flamer" For The Emperor! xD
That 1 hp is actually impressive.
This looks awesome! I can't wait for part two!!
Amor reference? Wow, I loved that book! Haven't thought of that in a while!
Aww man I love playing this game, I even purchased the pack that gives you the OG armor and shotgun.
The way you said “you’re dead to me” 😂
The best triple A representation of playing CM with no regards for role play and all the regards for stabbing a queen to death
Personally, aside from Alien Isolation, one really good game set in the Aliens/Predator universe isn't even an actual game but rather a MOD for Doom.
Aliens Eradication just has that right blend of atmospheric tension and cathartic bloodshed to me.
“What’s you favorite aliens game”
Aliens fireteam from that one arcade machine
I'm a year late for this, but it's worth saying anyways; You know an Aliens game is doing something right, when you start with a Smartgun and just have it. Not a one time pickup, not a late game toy, it's your bread and butter and your friends will thank you for sealing an entire hall with a hailfire of bullets aim corrected by the gun itself.
Imagine playing any class but demolisher unironically
If I played anything but Doc my Demolisher would slap me.
That Gunner ult is basically Tac Link from The Division. Sorry but thats a no-brainer for me :p
@@Jay_Rainstorm If a demolisher needs ANY HELP from any of the other classes on any mission at less than max difficulty, besides the current final campaign, then they are a BAD demolisher. XD
Flame turret being called Steve needs to be canon now
Nah, make a Flame Turret with four barrels...and call _that_ Steve.
Just the vibe right here 8:18
this episode had everything ! aliens, you shouted my name a bunch, and you referenced Armor! love it
Now that you mention the vibe of what if the colonial marines busted out full sprint with a shotgun, I cant stop myself from immediately thinking of the han solo scene in star wars where he's chasing after a single stormtrooper while screaming, just replace Han solo with a xenomorph and the stormtroopers with colonial marines.
"That's why I like to keep this handy, for close encounters". I immediately thought of Cpl Hudson when it mentioned the pump shotgun
"Fuckin' Banshee from the book Armour"
Sounds about right
Another day of insanity, murder, and destruction, topped off with the jazzy jingle of Retro Funky.
It doesn't get much better than this, boys.
Terminus of all light in motion is one hell of a pull for me not being able to find any sign that its a quote or reference. Nice work.
Yes! You're playing this!
2:01 as a kentuckian I must say, T H E Y D I D N' T
*Brother, get the flamer, THE HEAVY FLAMER!*
I absolutely LOVE the pump shotgun in this game. The semi-auto shotgun is good too, if the xenos are so belligerent and numerous that you can't get by with the slower fire rate of the pump action. But in the vast majority of cases, the pump action is king. It's so satisfying, hits hard, and can fire relatively fast.
The best thing to exist in the game
"GET EM STEVE"
"The Juice Center! This is where they're getting the Juice."
4:02 reminds me of a moment I had in Deep Rock Galactic(coop bug shooter, best described as mix of Left 4 dead coop, combat of Doom, procedurally generated caves of minecraft). I've got a bug alert, but don't see anyone. I then place a turret, that immediately starts shooting up. I raise my head, and see the cealing covered in bugs, which quickly crawl towards me. That was scary
When I get this game, I'm going to main the Smartgun. Enjoyed the video Raptor, look forward to more!
2:06 That alien is the smartest one of the bunch.
He didn't want a 12 gauge buffet.
I bet the alien also stole Rubix's lunch money when it jumped him.
Also Steve is MVP forever
> Mentions the Earth War
Ah yes, another Alien EU fan, aka, what the movies should've been
Steve is not bound by laws against friendly fire
Man, all this fire is reminding me of the fun times in Ishval.
I feel like there needs to be a guy in the ALIEN universe who just loots entire weapons lockers and goes on murder sprees whenever aliens show up. He's pockmarked with acid scars and always has as many machetes as he can on his back, ranting about the perfection of the service model bowie knife, always taking as many of them as he can find so he can keep using them when one melts. He keeps Rubbing Alcohol on him to neutralize acid, wears xenomorph bone armor, and uses the broken half-skull of a xenomorph praetorian as a blade for when his bowie knives run out. He soaks himself in rubbing alcohol when he goes into battle, and is constantly trying to find a suit or even scraps made of a strong Base chemical.
Basically, Alien needs a doomguy.
