Great video Breakdown and Solid points all around. I agree with most of what you said for the video. (just finished my 5th maddening run, and as an ironman I found your videos to be pretty useful even as a FE vet.) ****Spoiler warning for anyone reading who doesn't know about chapter 10***** Marth's I like using on Alear's Liberation since that weapon is so easy to forge to +5 and is useful for majority of the game, and so you don't lose it. Sigurd I usually put on a dagger to have an early dodge tank that can hit from range. Works super well Yunaka. Daggers also give+2 to MT when leveled so makes a great nuker too for early game. Echoes I haven't tried for negating enemy hits. That was a really great point. You would think after 5 maddening runs I would have thought of that. Genealogy I used for axes for most of my runs since they usually have bad hit. Binding is also really useful if pairing with heavy weapons (as you mentioned) for the engage attacks, or for units who have low BLD to get the extra damage from Hector's ring. (though hector works for that too). Blazing I usually run with Killer Axe, or the Axe you get from maxed support with Solm (with Lyn it still has more MT than all other non break axes, and has fantastic build hit and MT and let's you double with it as well easily) Sacred I used with Dire Thunder Lindon. He became a crit god at such an old age lol. Radiance See above Binding. Dawn (at least for maddening) I gave to units I knew would go over 100% crit so enemies would not attack. Example say your Zelkov was super low hp and you couldn't save him. Equip this and watch all non magical units ignore him. Or give to dancer as suggested to help their survival. Awakening I used with Celine Levin sword to make her a Levin sword dodge tank. It works really well since she is considered mystic and could still hit those pesky thieves because of mystic bonus. Fates I used for my crit users that had low avoid. Agreed completely with Panette as best user. Academy I gave to Jade as a tank. But can work for any user that needs hit. Really nice suggestion on the FEH weapons with their low weight. Flame, by the time you get it you should know what unit to use it with. Dragons with Brave weapon really good since you can still double with it. (as you mentioned) Hector, I used for engage attacks only usually. Soren I used for 3 ranged attacks or brave weapons. Bonds is just Sigurd, BUT BETTER. Revelation is the crit master if you want that 1 shot crit machine. Rivals I gave to FEH weapons and daggers. But works well with anyone who can take the weight increase. (daggers work well with it too if using Zelkov) Heroes seems to be made for divine pulse users (byleth skill) or elsurge since it has 100% hit rate regardless. Great video overall.
I've found the Sacred engrave to be excellent on a Killer Bow for Alcrits or Panette. Ideally, you should only be attacking units that can't counter on player phase, which is exactly bow users whole thing. Just trade swap the weapon away if there's the chance for them to be attacked on enemy phase.
Acumen - Dragons offer the same thing except Acumen has a lesser avo penalty Holy - Bonds also offer the same thing except Bonds offers an additional +20 Ddg Heroes is unique in the way that -hit is absolutely horrible because everyone wants to be as accurate as possible, its best use case is probably on the elsurge you get in ch9 since it ignores the -hit completely.
Sacred synergizes very well with the Lance you get from the well, because it has a built-in +20 Dodge. I used this on Halberdier Amber, who was so slow he wasn’t avoiding anything anyways and needs the extra hit.
Dragons, Acuman and Strength are the heavy hitters and best put on slow/smash or thoron weapons. Rivals is like beginnings engrave with better avoid but a +1 in wt. Revelations is just another big crit gainer. Bonds is just like Holy but with a +20 to Ddg. And Heroes is good dodge engrave but has the worse hit rate out of all of them, but this works well with Elsurge as it has infinite hit.
I used the Veronica engraving on my Sage Anna/Byleth. It adds extra might to her less heavy tomes. She wasn't critting anyway so the crit -20 doesn't bother her and divine pulse fixes the potential accuracy issues.
The best use case for Hector's engraving is in synergy with his own kit, which benefits enemy phase units that are tanky and can't already easily double to take most advantage of both his Heavy Weapon ability and his Reprise ability.
hector's engraving actually doesn't even increase weight that much if I recall correctly. You can add it to fist weapons and someone like Mauvier won't even take a speed penalty for it.
Veronica engraving is very risky, but crazy enough. I used it on a martial master (not Framme. It was experiment) because the upsides is so good for flashing fist, but you really do need a high dex unit to take advantage of it. Or use it on elsurge. I done both of these and it works as a very good engraving.
Having just complete a Maddening run with this setup, running Sacred Engraving on a Silver Greataxe on General Jade w/ Ike Engage is just absolutely nutty. She'll naturally cap her Res and still have massive defense and HP. She genuinely becomes just about the best use case for Pure Waters and with Great Aether she can effectively have 30-40+ Res. Add in Meal bonuses and Geosphere support if you're using DLC and it gets nutty. The avoid drop doesn't matter and the dodge drop doesn't really matter either. Eating a 3-6 or even the rare 15 damage crit during an enemy phase GA Channel is just fine when she has absolutely absurd bulk. It also means that on regular enemy phases she's still very consistent and just not going to miss thanks to her good Dex. She'll get smacked for a few damage and hit back hard consistently with 70+ physical attack. Very fun combination to run on Jade and I think really makes both her unique traits and the General class shine. It's a lot of fun to just warp drop her into the middle of huge clouds of enemies and seeing her tank and kill or severely weaken the whole lot.
Game has come so far in 2.0, the 1.0 pre release leak was so much harder. You started with 0 bonuses ( money/steel weapon) unlike 1.1. It made resource management = to conquest lunatic but tighter imo, worth a challenge run
Veyle is the best candidate for Revelation engraving when she has hold out+++ and has Vantage++ and she must have soren's bracelet because soren bracelet when engaed gives dopple crit on a tome and heals the User with Veyle's Obscurité when it is to +5 has Veyle have 50% crit alone wich, she uses now soren has 100% crit heals half amount of the dmaged she does wich makes her actuelly nearly unkilleable only fist user could make her life hard if they hit her
So if Holy and Bonds have similar benefits (minus the extra +20 dodge from Chrom), does that make the extra Levin Sword you upgrade the steel sword from even more…similar? Is it even a good idea to engrave Bonds on the Levin Sword? I originally thought about engraving it on Alfonse's sword.
This is my Timerra Emblem Leif Picket Skills Mag/Res +5 (Soren) Spd/Res +5 (Camilla) Hp: 63 (+7) 70 Bld: 12 (+5) 17 Str: 34 (+5) 39 Mag: 26 (+5) 31 Dex: 50 Spd: 41 (+5) 46 Def: 35 (+4) 39 Res: 23 (+10) 32 Lck: 38 Weapons Brionac +5 No Engraving Her Sandstorm procs every time too I am working on Louis now as a Halberdier with the other S Spear Venomous Holy Engraving He will have Permanent Sigurd Emblem after Maxing his stats and getting his skills
Not suprised they didn't make that many -hit engraves between supports and skill especially divine pluse it would be easy negate the down side if they were good .
Heroes I gave to Celine’s Bolganone and I just gave her divine pulse cause with her crazy luck she barely misses and at max luck she can’t miss. She also doesn’t crit a lot so she just appreciates the extra speed and damage
Maybe the engraving Heroes could be more useful later. I mean, we don't have yet the 4th dlc... Maybe we'll see new weapons as well. 🤔 What do you think ?
The Veronica engraving is super weird, but I think it might be okay with smash weapons you're using solely for emblem attacks like Override / Great Aether / etc. You can't crit or miss those attacks as is, and you give them extra might. If you're in range of trouble afterwards on EP, you keep you speed higher with the weight reduction and get extra avoid / crit dodging power. Haven't actually tried it yet, but I'll give it a shake on my 4th maddening run (I can't escape this game help)
I've found the strength engraving to go really well on a Brave Bow. Alcryst has pretty high build and speed, and quadding with +12 dmg (total) is insane.
Chrom engraving is another lucina engraving but better. Soren engraving is insane. tiki is really good. Camilla's is another engraving for crit weapons. Edelguard's is broken. Veronica's is good but it lowers hit so its use at your own risk. Hector's is for smash weapons and thoron imo. I think Soren might have the best damage engraving overall for increasing damage.
If you want to know these were my units for my Normal game Playthrough Male Alear Alfred Celine Diamant Alcryst Saphir Ivy Hortensia Timerra Fogado Seadall Mauvier Veyle
Regarding engravings, Hit, Crit, and Avoid are definitely the most useful stats you can gain. It takes 10 Dex to gain 20 Hit and a whopping 40 Dex to gain 10 Crit. Meanwhile, only 2 Str/Mag to gain 2 Atk. One way to reason about this is that Dex is actually just a useless stat, since low Dex can be easily fixed much more easily than low Str or low Bld. Dex is only useful to proc some abilities, but even then I'm not convinced it's good. A 1% chance to proc Luna against an enemy with 30 armor would result in an expected damage of 0.15. Compared to just having +1 Str for a guaranteed 1 extra damage, Dex just kind of sucks.
@@MasterStacona Except that sometimes it can just simply be used for dodging with an aid of an avoid tile. Sure it’s pretty it’s only good use case, but it at least it has that as a niche. Plus you could technically use it on a weapon that has high hit.
As bad as the Hit reduction for Heroes engrave is, Veronica comes from a world where that stat isn’t a thing
Elsurge has infinite Hit% so it makes great use of Veronica engraving, as it has 0 downsides
OHHH!!! i was thinking someone with sigurd... he give +30 hit for free
@@syounen6114 Hit +30 is a skill you need to inherit to benefit from it. Equiping Sigurd doesn't give you the +30 hit.
That's what I did, plan to give it to Gregory in the dlc since his passive gives him bonus 20+avoid when alone.
@@syounen6114 Divine Pulse is generally much better than hit+30
One may even say...pure upside
Elsurge with Veronica engraving works with a magic framme
Elsurge + Veronica engraving is legit forging. Thank you.
I was going to comment this but you beat me to it. Elsurge completely neglects the hit penalty.

Heroes engraving could work on Caladbolg. It's a shame there's no A rank version of Surge, though. It would've fit very well on that.
16:00 no wonder why Chrom's paralouge is hard. Gotta make the engraving worth it

Veronica engraving on an accurate Armourslayer adds a bit of damage and benefits pretty well from the weight reduction.
Chrom's engraving is in the same weight class as Sigurd and Marth and thats insane to me
In my last run I decided to put ikes engraving on a silver blade alongside Marths emblem damage was crazy when using lodestar rush

Alear with Liberation, Dawn engraving, and Marth avoid passives give me an amazing dodge tank.
Hero's engrave is best on elsurge, surge tomes have never miss accuracy so it's as Coffee says "pure upside"
Great point :)El Surge Meta is real
They missed a big opportunity to have an Elsurge animation of smacking someone with a book. That would explain why it can only be used at one range.

I find the -might engrave to be such a big cost unless it’s the 40 dodge one because it’s mostly for dodge tank or framme

Have Heroes engraving on an Elsurge tome for Hortensia if something gets close and attempts to hit her.

i have celine with the heroes engraving on her levin sword and then she has byleth with divine pulse.
I've found the strength engraving to go really well on a Brave Bow. Alcryst has pretty high build and speed, and quadding with +12 dmg (total) is insane.
Maddening quading with strength on brave bow isn’t happening though
With Alcryst & Lyn, it is. It's even easier to do with starsphere.
Cool
chrom engrave on Nel's lance is a huge middle finger to enemies with crit weapoms. 40 dodge ez
Yes finally 😍 DLC is broken, when are we getting maddening+ to make me feel less guilty abusing it
I put Heroes on Elsurge, reducing hit on something with infinite accuracy doesn’t matter
As someone who primarily plays iron man runs, I have an incredibly hard time justifying anything with -dodge
can we get some time stamps on this? would be nice for reference.
corrin engrave is best for 1 range weapons and camilla engrave is best for ranged weapons where they won't be counter attacked

Ike engraving on a Hector user is awesome.
You will double, and you also get extra damage from heavy weapon.
Chrom engraving is marth 2.0
I’d rather have the crit from Marth tbh
I would say Chrom is literally just Sigurd, plus avoid
Chrom and Alear S tier, they are pure upside
Veronica is so bad that she is not even F tier, she is Z tier
Have you tried engraving Veronica on an Elsurge Tome?
@@saggsman it basically has only positives except you lose crit, veronica engrave only good on elsurge
