    In this video I outline how to use Celine on Maddening in terms of classes, upgrades, passives, etc.
    This guide is aimed at the early/midgame. I will be making an advanced guide that covers emblem rings and endgame unit builds.

    Celine-exclusive perks
    * Her personal class is the only mystic unit with levin sword access, so she's the one unit who can get magic override off sigurd, which is pretty solid for armors.
    * She gets access to the important staffs, like warp, rewarp, and rescue with vidame. Very useful pinch healer, and can be a nice person to pass the staff too once hortensia, ivy, or framme use their turns up. Also lets her grind xp without stealing kills, which is why she got the early seal for me.
    * Ignis is true damage. I had her fight a 39 defense louis in the arena, and she waa doing 0x2 with a killer edge. She procc'd ignis, which took half her str (10 from 21) to deal 30 damage with a crit, which bypassed louis' thicc defenses and won the round. It's not reliable at all, but free damage is free damage - and it scales off a stat you can gauge, compared to grasping void Ivy.
    General perks
    * Gentle flower has clutched for me surprisingly well early and midgame, being a heal buff beacon that turns elixers into full heals.
    * She rly shines with Camilla from dlc, being one of the few units who can use camilla axe without it being overkill. Bolt axe gives break utility, and throw in build +3 and she starts being able to quad with lightning. Also Flame Vein + Levin or Tome means she can slow down an army and clap back against 2 rangers, which is something alear can't do as a sword-locked lord with crap mag.
    * She's fairly tanky, and has some dodge. Enough to not be onerounded even on madd. That's rare for a mage unit, and levin ensures she always gets at least 30% damage back. Camilla speed ensures she won't be doubled by most enemies with a lil help, so swap to tomes for survivability or levin for damage.
    * The idea is her str is passable, so she can actually oneround squishies with a killing edge crit, which leverages her luck. She gets enough mag to double armors with tomes and eventually levins.
    * All in all, she's like Timerra's opposite: Utility in everything, and Ignis to do it a lil better. She bailed me out on so many situations where I needed an extra staff use, pinch healing, off-tanking, res-tanking, or breaking axes. Throw on camilla engage, and now she's deadass Hortensia with real bulk and damage. Her role is literally whatever the hell I need at that moment, and that flexibility makes her a hard carry on my madd run rn.

      I'm on my first maddening run, on the chap you unlock Timera and I'm almost sure about benching her... but you make a good point with Camila. I just don't know if I'm good enough to beat that god damn maze .

      @@ScoffMathews go to mid, warp a covert with lyn, astra camilla, and rescue. It'll take 1 turn for camilla to spawn reinforcements, then she'll rush you on the next. I did it in 9 turns from the bottom middle (warped upwards to the second lane right above, astra, and rescued).

      Luck In this game does not increase crit only avoid accuracy and dodge but her dodge is so high that she will have similar avoid to your fastest but unlucky unit like merrin or chloe

      Anyone can do magic override with a Levin sword or flame lance btw. Mystical just does more damage with it. I've been using it with Griffin Mauvier.
      Might be getting confused with lodestar Rush, which bases the damage on mag for mysticals. This can be really useful with Mercurius exp. grinding, I suppose? Could also be thinking of something else, I'm not familiar with all the engage attacks.

    For anyone wondering, Vidame is pronounced like Vee (as in tree) - dahm (as in Tom) with the stress on the first syllable.

    Celine definitely prefers an emblem (or skills) that can increase her speed. I think Ignis is the saving grace of Vidame. Dex might also be helpful if keeping her in Vidame
    Her higher natural strength gives her a bit more of a niche with emblems that have mixed engage weapons over other magic units. She’s able to hit harder than the others with Lyn’s bows, or Corrin’s swords for example. Plus, she *can* proc Ignis on engage attacks like Lodestar Rush or Astra Storm (even if her growth isn’t great)

      hector gives her runesword, shes one of the very few people who can actually use it well.
      adaptability and hector passive def bump her from mini bruiser to full bruiser.
      she has enough str growth to still use armads and wolf beil, and heavy attack just adds more to those. i think hector just bumps her up from a master of none to a master of all

    I feel like you could reclass her to Griffin Knight instead to fix her Spd and then go back to Vidame late game for the passive.

      I don’t usually like doing stuff like this, but I feel like it probably works really well. I enjoy sticking to one class per run, but yeah patching her stats in another class before putting her into Vidame sounds like a good idea

    I gave her every single early statbooster and a forged avoid-engraved Elfire to enemy phase the entire game

    Running her with Leif, resolve and HP+, a Levin sword and thoron. It turns her into a high damage bruiser that can take 2-3 hits, doesn't get doubled and doubles some enemies. You can play hyper aggressive when engaged. Attack thoron and when she gets attacked adaptability brings out her best weapon to trigger arms shield or she'll finish enemies off with vantage. Then there's the always fun ignis procs and access to staves.

    I think the idea is that she’s a utility unit that does one of the first attacks on player phase. She has speed and just enough magic to nuke down armors and enough str to set up griffons and wolfriders that you can’t double on to die from the second attacker.

    Staves, tomes and swords for breaking enemies. Good magic and luck. She is a massive powerhouse if she gets to hide in the bushes/a tower, or has speed investment. Her other talents offer utility on top of power. Normally I don't like the jack of all trades type, but Celine's more like an above average jack-of-all-trades. Everything she brings to the table is useful.

    Celine is basically Celica's reincarnation honestly just with staves thrown in I think.
    Like you stated she's built for utility being able to nuke armors and introduce other mages to the business end of her blade as they usually have lower or no defense, that's her niche I think, being a mage and armor killer

    Okay. I want to point out some things I think you skip over with your analysis.
    Celine is a classic case of this "later units are better" argument being used incorrectly.
    For example, a direct comparison is Pandreo for fast mage candidate.
    They both have Tomes, Staves, and I guess a physical attack/break option.
    Pandreo's benefits are a better personal for combat and he starts with a good bit of SP. In this comparison, he'd have around 3 more Mag and 1 Spd more than Celine, even if you promoted her ASAP. So, "later unit better" right?
    Pandreo can't get Canter for several chapters.
    He requires a second seal to acquire two things he may want that Celine already has: Swords or Mystical bonuses (Byleth). Can't have both and you'd be giving up Staves on MK.
    When players analyze a unit, I see them often do so without any consideration of resources available (or lack of) as you -progress-. Forgetting what skills a later character like Pandreo is missing out on.
    Second and Master seals up to this point were and still are a limited resource and should be planned ahead of time wisely. Celine and the Lords really don't get any meaningful boosts to growths when promoted, and it really helps on seal usage. Not only to do they not have to waste seals to be in a class that already "just werks" but they don't have to promote until they need the initial stat bump from it. So, more investment heavy characters like Jean and Anna can abuse those resources.
    Last thing is Byleth. I dont know how you plan out characters, but do you consider Emblem synergies? Byleth gives her Spd/Mag/Lck which is all great on her, but its her mystical bonus that gives her +2 range to tomes and boosts your other Mag users while dancing/instruct. Makes her super easy to keep leveled in combo with her heals. All the class changes you're talking about put her in a worse class that loses out on this Emblem just for small things like "+4 speed" but its +4 speed after 20 levels of growth. And again, cost a scarce early-mid game resource.
    Talking all from experience in my Maddening run. These factors have allowed me use her with very little expectations but surprised just how much these considerations have made my run smooth and have cemented her as a worthwhile unit on the team. Also, her passive has saved my bacon early game, lol.
    Edit: I goofed with Pandreo a bit because High priest is also mystical.

    Celine is the only firene unit that doesn't feel like a trap long term. Yeah she's needs 1 or 2 hp stat boosters but it's worth it holy shit she's one of the most evil Levin sword users in the game lol.

      @Stona Lisa Boucheron's only issue is his low accuracy at the start because he's not hitting anything or dying if you give him an axe that can hit the target it's almost impossible to get him to a decent level. That's the issue he could be good but the start is so nasty idk if it's worth the trouble lol.

      @@RaidenKaiser I wouldn’t say that’s his only issue. I used him more in my second run and He gets doubled pretty easily in early chapters which is crazy. That with a speed boosting bond ring, but Etie has a worse speed problem that made me drop her for Alchryst as soon as I got him

    One thing you failled to mention is that she is a rare magic unit that actually has a great speed cap while having staff . Meaning there argument into giving her speed wing so she can double even some late game ennemy for comparaison Pandreo sage has 29 speed cap
    Will also argue against her survivability failling off she has good speed growth and insane luck which has made her avoid kinda skyrocket over the game also argue the leif engrave its wasted As she does not need accuracy thank to her high luck helping with that and unlike anna she has a defense stats
    Finally i also found out a nice niche with leif emblem and momentum her mixed base and growth allow you to use both weapon of emblem leif and Leif light brand give you 10 luck which push her avoid even higher Momentum add damage on each attack of quadra strike Celine which should have near or 20 in both magic and strenght when he join back can use this to pretty much get ko while ejoying the higher bld and def

    Celine wants to hit a lot to get use from ignis. If you can RNG the thunder ring, she wants that for early mid game. Late game Celica are good to really try to get the most use from Ignis and because she's a mystical she gets that extra 20%.
    Idk she's not naturally fast, but I just give her Speed +5 and Speedtaker. As a staff user she's better at farming SP than other classes on dead turns and this is a 4000 cost, which is reasonable throughout a playthrough by endgame. Speed in this game is pretty fixable just with skills.
    You can also run Marth, she's the best user of Mystical Lodestar Rush as she's the only mystical unit that can wield blades and on top of Ignis it just nukes whatever you use it on.. Marth gives speed and dex too, which is nice, so maybe canto or tome precision here.
    Also Levin Sword is 11 wt 13 mt 85 hit. Bolganone is 11 wt 16 mt 85 hit. Imo, its hard for me to justify Levin Swords for anything but converting Engage attacks for non-mysticals and I can't see them as worth for a main weapon on Celine, but maybe the upgrade cost and breaking is worth to other people.
    To me, like Timerra, Celine is a scaler. The most dex, str and magic you have the stronger she becomes, though because she targets res and you get her earlier, I put her higher in my own ranking.

    Switching her to halberdier was the best decision of my run. For context she spent 20 levels in vidame and I just had too many mages in the army.
    Pincer fixes her speed problem and she will hit hard. She crumples on enemy phase, but that's nothing new.
    Plus her magic growth means she can flame lance of you need it. Honestly she just turned into a delete button.

    Something to note, since Citrinne and Celine are compared a lot here, Citrinne in Griffin rocks a 55mag/50 speed growth. If someone wanted a non-Chloé magic griffin knight build(Anna also works, but honestly I feel like Anna and Chloé are better off doing other stuff).

      That sounds really fun omg. I also wonder if Citrinne with the Hector skill that increases damage when your build is low could be good for the Flame Lance, since she probably won’t have enough speed to double the fastest enemies

Also works with Levin sword+Dawn engrave(or Sigurd's engrave)+Leif's lowest sp build skill to help get to just doubling enemies faster as well,it's pretty base-game friendly. (But probably better with flame lance and Hector's skill,but when is something not better with the dlc :P)

    Céline is a pretty good mage. Instantly better then Clanne but for earlier units its usually about if they can keep up with the newer units who are statistically better. Thankfully she's a noble so she has things that allow her to stand out.
    Personal class that has both swords, tomes, and staffs, a decent personal skill which is great since it just makes healing items better just by being near her. Ignis for true damage. That's quite alot. But her stats seem to fall off very quickly since her magic and strength bases are relatively low so long term growth is slow.
    I reclassed her into Mage knight on my run but personally I'd rather stick to Vidame for Bignis. Mage knight does give more speed, build, and movement though with levin sword access (or flame lance if you want) still. Plus it can be easier to use in tandem with Lucina and another cav unit like Fogado or Merrin. It saved me on Ike's map.

    I feel like she'll be a utility mage that can deal some damage with Soren and dragonic hex that can help. You can have other heavy mage units that help with stronger magic. She can provide debufs and use staves which is nice

    Maybe consider staff mastery 2 before chapter 10, it’s cheap and she can use staves pretty well

    what ive been doing on her is griffin knight for at least 10 levels, sometimes more, pumps her speed a bit, and then i just put her back in vidame, vidame is the best class for her just cuz of the skill, but sneaking some extra speed in doesnt hurt.
    and since wave 2 came out, i put hector on her, with a focus on the runesword and shes unstoppable.

    I don’t think she’s a good unit, but I do think she’s a fun one; she has a bunch of small things going for her and I think that’s why people like using her. Her innate class allows her to wield the Levin Sword without promotion; her unit type has some hilarious synergies with the Emblems; promotion gets her Staff utility. There’s so much she can do with the tools given to her, but she always comes up short.

    Celine on Maddening gives me Robin from Awakening vibes. Grind her as a mage until she gets enough speed to consistently double. Then wait a second until she gets Ignis. One of my favorite skills in the series just on how vanilla it is.

    I've found it difficult to make use of her throughout my maddening playthrough, as her speed and power tends to fall behind other units. I feel like her main issue is low build and middling speed as, despite how the Vidame class describes her, she's not very good at fighting mages as she can't consistently double mages (and even if she could, that sword would need good might to work).
    However, I feel like she has potential using Lief. The extra build Lief grants is very helpful for reducing speed issues from tomes like elfire (or MAYBE Excalibur). Plus her strength and magic are decent enough to use most of Lief's weapons, with Light Brand looking VERY effective due to it's low weight, high might, magic scaling, AND granting +10 luck for potential crits or greater chances of proccing divine pulse to compensate for lower accuracy.
    As for skills, divine pulse is great to utilise her high luck for hitting with status staves or for fighting evasive foes. I feel like spd +3 or higher could be decent as she could hit some doubling thresholds against middling speed enemies with this skill plus a spd tonic or meal.

    I ran her on Griffin Knight the first time I ever played the game and she was by far my best mage. Much stronger than Citrinne and even Veyle

    One thing I want to explore more is how to abuse her busted luck stat. My gut feeling is you can put Divine Pulse+ from Byleth on her, and then use some strong, low hit busted staff's and get close to 100 hit rate with them (50 + luck stat is your second hit if you miss the first shot with the staff).
    I haven't gotten far enough in my maddening run to know if that strategy is worth it/viable like it would be in some other FE games, but that's the only "thing" she can do better than anyone else in the game.
    Otherwise her role is very similar to Hortensia (more availability, but she can't fly), and whether you want two of the same versatile, support characters in your comp. Personally, I'm leaning towards yes as I want my magic nukes (Anna + Ivy) to focus more on that than healing my front-line all the time, but still tbd based on the final third of the game I have left.

      Things to do with divine pulse: bolting from Soren is neat if you're running DLC. I think the bolting+draconic hex+divine pulse combo is the funniest I can think of to debuff units out of your range. Outside of that you can also just run Byleth on her and annoy people with 5 range accurate thorons.

    Put byleth on her to increase her magic and dex, bolagne or elfire5 and she doubles consistently with ther plus an over 30% chance of activivating ignis
    I gave her canter plus as well to reposition her and avoid support and she will be a Dodgr tank

    I put Camilla on Celine and just have her running around setting shit on fire. She’s enough to cut off any choke point. Also tried using hector for runesword shenanigans but idk how I felt about that

      The most common way to go I’d think is put Ike on her. After you unlock Wrath you can have a crazy high crit rate with an engraving, Killer Axe, her passive, and fully stacked Wrath. Inherit Vantage from Leif for one of the best enemy phase units in the game.
      Probably also best to swap her off Berseker as it’s just not a great class, Warrior is mostly better imo. Mounted options like Wolf Knight is also an option to patch her speed since her str is already really good, and the flying classes are also quite good.

      Wrath/Vantage/Roy ring on Wolf Knight basically plays itself because of Hold Out. Just give her a big crit weapon and she easily gets 100% crit after one engagement (depending on the enemy) and she gets +1 move while engaged because of being a cav unit. Best use of the roy ring I've seen, which people seem to regard as one of the worst rings, so it won't be in high demand

      Awesome. And yes, I don't get why players deem Roy not as good when he can give Wrath users easy set up and +15 damage because of the extra Str + Crit. Even more with +5 levels engaged.

      You don't really need to have a Build on Panette for her to be good. You can keep her on Berserker, (or Warrior) and find a way to mitigate her accuracy issues (Engraving/Hit+) and her Str is so stupid that she'll be your hardest hitting unit.
      However, the best Build for Panette IMO would be a Wrath + Vantage Crit combination.

      I run panette as a sniper with a killer bow, its easier to get 100% crit if you do this than keep her as a berserker or as a warrior

    Ah yes. Céline. One of my strongest units in the game. She is really good with most Emblem Rings, so her versatility is insane.

    I like Celine but she just is not Anna or Ivy. Ivy and Celine both need Lyn to double without dire thunder down the line and Ivy always wins that due to strong magic flier being way better. I do not think Celine is terrible especially due to strong early game and pretty okay mid game with some staff utility, but if running 3 mages she has more downsides than those 2 and even being fed every single magic dust I got and speed wing she was having issues keeping up.

    She is the best while Celica carries her, them Anna change to mage and she, even with Celica, became the second best. After chapter 11 when you loose Celica and you get Ivi she is the best bench girl. If you want to use her, she needs +speed passive on her and recover Celica or +magic passive

      Bench girl? I don't care for her, but I needed a speedy mystical for Byleth's staff and wanted to use an Elsurge strat, and its worked great so far. Ring gives her what she needs, speed + mag, and then a broken 2 range magic sword later on and makes that Elsurge hit 3 range. Have a lot of magic damage so dance and instruct is a nice buff. Staves on her class make her useful at all times and easy to keep leveled. I just gave her canter early because she had the SP. Otherwise, I didn't really invest in her beyond checking at the start who was gonna fulfill that role of speedt Byleth mage.

      ​​@@garsenchannel556 Anna would be the better byleth user easily and she takes advantage of that extra luck for her passive as well while doubling everything. Celine is extremely benchable after Padreo and Ivy and just comes down to if you like Celine enough or not.

      @@thatoneguy78228 I made a big long post covering why I'd disagree on a few aspects. The big one players forget is when you actually run you have to consider the actual resources you need to manage like seals. Anna is a big investment for how little seals you have that early. Much higher investment to swap her classes either Mage first or straight to 10 ->Sage. Realize I'm not saying Anna isn't better if you want to devote those resources, but the issue is how players compare and analyze doesn't account for said factors. I can't endlessly change classes the way you assume, that's not what happens in-game. Ivy isn't a good comparison and doesn't have mystical or the speed. Pandreo is a great argument but he misses out on things like Canter for several chapters and less potential with things like Starsphere if you have DLC.

      @@garsenchannel556 You don't need to second seal first you can do it after a master seal she has a 50% magic growth base (Celine's Promo is only 40%) and starts at level 5 and can easily be power leveled to chapter 10. First master seal from Anna's parlaogue should always go to Chloe or Alear as they are good until end of the game, second master seal should go to Alear or Anna (Anna if want another bow for flier infested chapter 8), and 3rd should go to whoever you didn't pick and second seal Anna to Mage knight or Sage. Celine can continue to use Miciah ring to have her staves while still using Levin sword until end of chapter 10 where a master seal drops from boss so she can get her personal class just in time for rings to go boom. Her magic growth rate on promo goes from 25% to 40% while on someone like Anna that number is 50% to 80% (double the growth of Celine's personal class) and isn't worth using master seal first on Celine after going with it a few times. You can argue wanting to use master seals on anyone else but in my opinion thats best use for early game if want an easier time and get 3 more master seals anyway, 1 from chapter 11 and 2 more after chapter 11 from shops so its not like its costing you much. I think the no canter / starsphere is a good argument but main reason I was bringing it up was generally want 2 or 3 mages and Ivy is the better magic user compared to Celine due to her strengths but if want emblem ring specific mystical outside of Byleth then yeah Celine is probably better.

    I like videos like these but I feel like everyone just spams wyverns for everything. As you said maddening really isn't that hard one you know the maps...just use characters you like in classes you want

    celine is a great unit and the best mage in early game, she can use the 2 early masters seals to promote but the competition for it is rough, alear chloe(wyvern), diamand (ivy drops the chapter he joins so is must be for him), louis is a great choice too, another problem is when u got leif ring u got acces to dire thunder, and citrine has more magic than celine (she can use build+3 or +4 and the levin sword to do great dmg) but 3 range brave magic is amazing (more if u promote citrine in mag cav, literally a reinhard)
    If u promote her early she can snowball pretty well but the competition for the early master seals is rough and more important in frontline units with (alear chloe and diamand)

    The more I play the Game, the more I think that Build+ skills are worse than Spd+, in almost all situations.
    You will eventually gain Build, and there are ways to reduce Wt with Upgrades/Engraves. While Spd+ is always useful.

      @@kpaekn Technically, Speed has higher cost. You have use more bond fragments to get access to all levels of speed than you do for build. For one unit, that doesn't seem like much, but for multiple units, it may be better to to get build over speed.

      @@kpaekn true that say spd +3 and build +3 would only be 1000 total, where as the highest they get is spd/build +5 for 2000 sp.
      however, whats the point in saving the 1000sp if you are using both of your only skill slots.

      Its probably a bad idea, but it's possible.

      depends, you can get build +3 for 500 sp, at level 5 bond with leif, or +3 spd with lyn at 9 bond, so cheaper for bond fragments. and thats true for all ranks of both, speed is 4 more to invest.
      the other thing would be you can get build 4 be at 6 bond, so you dont have to unlock the paralogue to have it be better than lyns speed.
      they function basically the same, but build is cheaper on fragments and you can get it faster,
      the thing that really determines it, is how much the weapon weighs, if the build is more than you need, its wasted.

      Vidame is kind of slow so Griffin with levin sword/sword power or Mage Knight with Sword Power levin. Both will boost her base SPD, Griffin is much faster though so she will want to get early sword power 2-3 from T3/4 wells before losing Roy

    Ignis and the like skills are so nice for "accidental damage/kills" which is basically what crits are. As long as you don't lean on it they really help your playthrough so I'd say the only reason to keep her is for Ignis. Same goes for Alcryst and Timerra imo.
    Someone else will always be a better Wyvern/Griffin *cough* Chloe

    I don't know why people insist she is so good, her stats are terrible imo. Her personal skill barely procs with her horrendous dex. And she never doubles anything. Any other inherent mage is better than her. Lindon, Citrinne, Pandreo, Ivy... she is a C tier unit imo. Citrinne will oneshot *anything* with double thunder, celine will even fall short of that. Pandreo will double with Bolg while Celine is lucky if she can double with elfire. Lindon is a crit machine and ivy is a monster on her right

      She was the 1 unit for me that could take advantage of Eirika's weird magic stat buff while using Swords and having enough Str to ohko with Twin Strike.

      She's the first actual mage you get(Clanne sucks as a mage lmao) and for the stretch until you get your next mage(3 chapters) she does decently. On maddening she'll likely get some kills in that stretch so she'll keep up with your other units and given that she can use levin sword in her base class you could slap that on her for some extra damage when she cant double(you can then move the levin sword on any of your mage knights) she's the definition or decent early game mage and as there isn't too much mage competition at least people just keep her.
