  • Using Elinchrom’s fantastic D-lite studio flash system learn the 3 essential 2 light set-ups every studio photographer should learn, Hi-key, Mid-Key and Low-Key. Once mastered, these techniques will allow you to shoot pretty much anything in studio.
    Mark explains and demonstrates the three key lighting styles that form the basis of most studio photography and how to achieve them using only 2 studio heads. Mark starts with darker or low-key images, using one light as the key light and one as a separation light. He then moves to mid-key, showing how to shoot with just one light as the key, and then with two lights, the second being either for separation or used on the background. Finally, Mark finishes with a simple Hi-key suitable for individuals or pairs, using the key for the subject and the second light set much higher to give the white and bright background.
    Equipment: Canon 5DMkIII, Canon 24-105mm, 2x Elinchrom D-lite Ones, 2x Elinchrom Portalite Softbox, Elinchrom Skyport Trigger, Elinchrom Translucent Umbrella, Lastolite Trigrip Silver/White

    The best tip was on the High key photography. It really is about only getting a bright background - that's where mid key transforms to high key. Super Mark!

    Hopefully without causing any offence, these are much better than the original Elinchrom videos. With respect to the other presenter, he obviously knew what he was doing, but these videos are much more vibrant. I've paused most of the images and they are perfectly lit, my personal favourite was the almost silhouette expectant mother. It's so simple yet so beautiful.

    This video would have been more helpful if he spoke more slowly. He also didn't include the fact that he used reflectors and his hair light seemed to be constant lighting - what did he use here? Was it LED?

    Don't 2 stops above for back light in high key give to much light bleed onto model. some guys do 2/3 stop above .

    Okay okay, I got the camera! I just don't have a big studio with windows giving off natural light. As well as have thousands of dollars worth of light. Hey, you worked your way up there to be where you're at though. [edit] Nevermind, I get he is teaching technique.

    ON YOUR HIGH KEY PHOTOGRAPHY , IF YOU WANT THE BACKGROUNG TO BE 2 STOP S OVER THE SUBJECT HOW CAN YOU ELLIMITED LENS FLARE OM TO THE SUBJECT ?

    • @ThePhotographerAcademy
      @ThePhotographerAcademy  Рік тому

      As long as the exposure is no more than 2 stools, your using a lens hood and you don’t have a filter on your lens you should not get flare

    A softbox should be used about 6 feet away from your subject to get the best light fall off. The rule is that the area of coverage for the light doesn’t really matter for size goo.gl/D4WLr9 except greater than this distance because the falloff is still about 1-1.5 stops up to this unless your light is really close.

    • @shaolin95
      @shaolin95 6 років тому +1

      jack singh this is absolutely wrong!!!!! The size of the softbox is a huge part to determine "best" distance so your comment is beyond bad.
