,,I'm old but still a child" - definition of Brian May
So tru🤣
Exactly
And Rog!
actually he says that because he is going back to his childhood memories when his cat died
I think same
This song is criminally underrated
I would argue it is more unknown than underrated. Hopefully this video will start to fix that
This is the first time I've ever heard it
This song is so depressing but other other side of the coin it a master piece brilliant but wot do we expect its queen👍
Brian is not only one of the best guitarists out there, but also one of the best singers too.
Id say he is the best like yes Gilmour is great but his ego is pushed so much. From what ive gathered they had to push Brian into the god solos weve gotten
Some play guitar, and some ARE guitar, Brian ARE guitar
@@Ithrial420 I don't think gilmour had an ego problem from what the other band mates had said. Either way pink floyd's work is a testament of what can happen when blooming creatives as individuals come together to make something as a collective
His singing is like molasses for the ears! Some of the songs he sings are the most beautiful tunes! My faves are tied between this song, Sail Away Sweet Sister and '39.
his texts...
Brian May must have cried his eyes out when he saw this. This is very touching.
I sure as hell did cry

He's so sensitive, cute guy. I've had a lot of cat, too, my faithful friends in good and bad times, they all are unforgettable. 💕

How many bands can claim an astrophysicist for a lead guitarist?
Probably my favorite Brian May song is '39.
'39 is a beautiful song, but my favourite by Brian is White Queen (As It Began) :)
@@graceclayton4602 Queen II is an excellent album, and one of my favorites. White Queen (As it began) is a beautiful song. The reason I like '39, though, is because of the problems presented with space travel at (or near) the speed of light. Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity plays a large part in the song.
I love '39, it's wonderful! And Brian can really rock a 12-string 🎸!

Sail Away Sweet Sister is also great!

Also, the fact that Freddie is the bloodied one in that album cover + the fact that he is now gone is haunting

One of my very, very favourite Queen’s song. I love the cat walk featuring the lyrics as they’re sung along. A masterpiece in my opinion.
Irresistible! 🖤♥️🖤♥️🖤
Agreed. It is a masterpiece.
Me too! I love this song even though it is about death.
I agree. Personally I really didn't care for the song on the album. But with this video I can't get enough of it. It's done perfectly.
I had seven friends. We met often. They were my second family. I am now 87 years old and the last of my friends died a year ago. I am the last. I listen to this song and I can't stop crying. All dead and gone...
Much love to you!♥️🌹
❤️
At least you had that. I had many I thought were friends, dozens, but they really weren’t, or aren’t. I’m only 50 and I know that when I kick the bucket, there’s probably a maximum of 4 people going to be at the funeral. Maybe I can revive some old friendships, I’ve tried over the years, but everyone’s so caught up in their family or job - they just don’t care anymore.
So you may be sad about your friends passing, my father feels similar, but my parents are out and about, meeting new people, making friends. Since you were able to have such wonderful friends, even seven of them, you might just find ONE more? Don’t give up. I hope you’re still around, not dead and gone. You carry a spark I envy you for.
Someone had to be the last one. 🌚
This song was written by May which confirmed that it is partially inspired by the passing of his boyhood pet cat. That explains the cat animation.
It breaks my heart
Andy Bernard frick who is cutting the onions
Thank you. I thought since the production of the video was quite recent, it was about Freddie, who was definitely a cat lover.
It definitely cut the onions for me, I had a black cat that I took in from the wild which I had a special bond with. He got out one day and never came back, killed me.
@@alinalinalina6825 I think this is a tribute to Freddie, in a certain way. Even if the song was written a long time before he passed

Ties right in with the album cover for News of the World...pretty darned awesome if you ask me.
It's not amazing on every level, it is beyond that. but sadly there aren't any words that can describe it.
i recently bought a record player and naturally had to buy queen vinyls (news of the world and innuendo) and i always repeat this song because its so darn beautiful. good job may! you really did something there
The ending is amazing😌🎶🌹
Also worth noting that four birds are seen flying during the instrumental break. During the ending, two of the birds fly back and rest on the robot's fingers. Most likely to represent the band
I can’t listen to this without sobbing uncontrollably.
My cat of almost 10 years just tragically passed away the day before this comment was made. The next morning I remembered this song and video exists, and instantly sobbing to myself again. A truly sad and beautiful song for anyone, especially grieving pet lovers. To Sam 🧡
It's sad to see the robot from the News of the World album fallen... Representing Freddie's death, and that the birds in the video represent all four of them with only Brian and Roger being the last 2 orginal members of Queen that still perform for the band...
It's symbolism, that everything does have it's time, like the News Of The World robot laying there, no longer working, the four birds turning into two (representing Deacon and Mercury leaving the group - Deacon going into retirement and Mercury passing away) and of course Brian's dead cat lol
wrong, the robot does not represent Freddie
The song was about Brian's Dead cat
INTERESTING CHANNEL Brian was a cat person too, but not quite as much as Freddie! There’s a few photos floating around of him as a teenager with the cat from the video.
The robots name is frank

I listened to this song so many times without any context, and I realized what it was about when my first pet, my beautiful female dog, past away a year ago. I was just grieving her and listening to some songs while working at home when this one came up, and it hit me... then I made a video about my lovely friend and used this song for background music. After uploading it i read about the story behind this song, and it amazed me it was about a kitty that passed away. What a kind warm song. I love Queen, it gave me hope in my teen years, when I was so depressed I wanted to commit suicide, but I kept listening to all the albums my father had at home, he had most of the Queen vinyls, but I bought the ones he didn't had at fairs and music stores with the money my mother gave me for lunch... Your songs and my dog friend gave me hope, gave me reasons to be alive. You even have songs that try to prevent suicide in the title, like "Don't try suicide", also another song that helped me when a girl left me in high school was "Jealousy", and a lot of Hot Space songs were really good for my psyche. My family helped, but I really had a lot of self esteem issues... Time changed me a lot, but now I am in a race for stopping self esteem, I don't care about my looks, but my health either... I stopped doing exercise... and I only work and study all day... I'm 31. I have to start listening your songs again, I don't make myself time to be happy...
Well, I love this video :)
:)

Sorry for your loss. We had to put down our beloved Jack Russell Terrier a few years ago. For the first few weeks, it was unbearable. Now I can remember her without crying, and now we have a beloved cat we inherited from a relative who passed away. She's in good health, but unfortunately, 18 years old! So who knows, maybe there's another dog in our future? At any rate, major kudos to the creator of this awesome video! As for the song, it's one of my favorite Queen songs.

This has to be one of the most beautiful and touching songs I know. My childhood cat, of which I lived with for as long as I can remember, just passed away, and this song speaks every emotion I feel. I have been listening to this song on repeat, tearing up at every lyric. The line 'of course I don't believe you're dead and gone' is so powerful; in every corner of my house I can still see my cat curled up asleep, his spirit will never be gone. He gave me unconditional love all my life, and always knew when I needed his comfort. I will truly miss him.
This song has touched my heart since the moment I heard it back in 1978. Knowing it is about Brian's childhood cat makes it that much more special. Amazing how close we can become to our furry friends, and how sad and empty we feel when they leave us. Bravo, Queen! This is a song for the ages, love the video. "But of course I don't believe..."

That keyboard intro, after nearly 51 years of life, is still one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. And another is the instrumental orchestral harmony in the middle section.
Brian is somewhat embarressed (I think) about this song being about his pet cat. But I happen to think that pets of all kinds are to be valued just as highly as familly and frends. They ARE are families. Beautiful cats, beautiful dogs, beautiful birds. And all other pet animals.
I am so sad that this wasnt played as the credits for Bohemian Rhapsody
They played "The Show Must go On" instead, which kind of made more sense, I'm glad they have the movie to keep the legend(s) alive.
That would have been a very bad choice in my opinion, I think the show must go on was the perfect choice considering it was written for Freddie while he was very very ill
I thought that "The Show Must Go On" was the perfect ending. Freddie may be all dead, but the movie proves that his legacy is going on. It's a tribute to not just a great frontman, but a friend of the other members of the band.

She came without a farthing
A babe without a name
So much ado about nothing
Is what she'd try to say
So much ado, my lover
So many games we played
Through every fleeted Summer
Through every precious day
All dead, all dead
All the dreams we had
And I wonder why I still live on
All dead, all dead
And alone, I'm spared
My sweeter half instead
All dead and gone
All dead
All dead, all dead
At the rainbow's end
And still, I hear her own sweet song
All dead, all dead
Take me back again
You know my little friend's
All dead and gone
Her ways are always with me
I wander all the while
But, please, you must forgive me
I am old but still a child
All dead, all dead
But I should not grieve
In time it comes to everyone
All dead, all dead
But in hope, I breathe
Of course, I don't believe
You're dead and gone
All dead and gone.

News of the World has to be one of the most eclectic albums ever released. From the aggressive punk of "Sheer Heart Attack" to the bluesy "Sleeping on the Sidewalk," to "Who Needs You" with its Latin maraca theme, the complete raw weirdness of "Get Down Make Love," this incredibly sad ballad sung by Brian, and the lounge lizard finale "My Melancholy Blues..." Also thanks the video makers to elevate this masterpiece to a corresponding visual level.
I listened to this song over and over after my older brother died. When we were kids, he and I made a $5 bet about "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions". I said they were one song with two parts. I didn't know enough about music to call them "movements". As they were always played back-to-back on the radio when the song debuted (and still are usually), I figured the second part was like a lyrical response to the first song. Years later, sports fans would make that observation by singing "We Will Rock You" to taunt their rivals, and "We Are the Champions" in declaration of victory. Of course, my brother had it in the bag before we even made the bet. He'd been to the department store previously and saw the 45 (For younger readers of this comment, a single used to be released on a small record with a quarter-sized hole in the middle that spun at 45 rotations per minute or "RPMs".) To settle the bet, we had to go to that same department store, our mother obliging. When we got to the store, my brother went right to the single, showed me the songs' titles on opposite sides of the record, and demanded payment. Five dollars was a fuck ton of money for an eight-year-old kid. For younger readers, a "fuck ton" is 2,000 pounds of sexual intercourse, measured by teaspoons of....nevermind. Anyway, he took my money, bought the 45 with it, and we listened to it over and over at home on the phonograph. For younger readers, you could not play 45s in a car. He would have had to buy the 8-track tape, which would have been silly since we didn't have an 8-track player in our car. I miss you, John. 30 years now you've been...all dead...and gone.

All the dreams I had
And I wonder why I still live on
All dead, all dead
And alone I'm spared
My sweeter half instead
All dead
And gone
All dead...
All dead, all dead
At the rainbow's end
And still I hear their own sweet song
right in my tiny head
All dead, all dead
So deep and sad.
So true
Fantastic video!!!
Bravo 👏👏👏
Who but Brian would imagine a chorus with a catchy "all dead" repeated often?
And it really works too. I love this song. Yet another favorite now.
It all connects, guys. The cat is Brian’s (ofc because the songs written about the cat). The Robot is Freddie because he does sing in the song, but the animation wasn’t made until MUCH later. Which means Freddie passed away before the animation was made. The birds at first, are Freddie, Roger, John, and Brian, but then at the end of the video, just the two birds represent Roger and Brian. That’s because Deaky retired, and Freddie died. It all CONNECTS GUYS.
Omg. Ima cry
This songs is about Brian's childhood cat who died. The female cat is the "little friend" Brian speaks about in the whole song. Not everything is about Freddie's demise.
Felipe Xavier ok,. That makes me feel better about Freddie’s death. TY
